Strictly Come Dressage

in aid of the Emile Faurie Foundation

S

ince it was first founded in 2006 the Emile Faurie Foundation has helped over 9,000 children learn to ride. Emile said that he is consistently hearing from teachers that the benefits to the children go much further than learning to ride. They observe a change in the children’s behaviour: their attendance goes up, they concentrate more, they are more respectful and in general their behaviour is better. Emile would love to be able to help even more children to learn to ride, but it is only through fundraising events like Strictly Come Dressage that the funds can be raised and he is very grateful to Ian and Vicky Winfield of Oldencraig Equestrian Centre for their continued support of the Foundation. If you want to help this wonderful charity, Emile suggests running a coffee morning or an event. All the money you raise will go directly to helping children to learn to ride. The P.E. Teacher at Buile Hill High School, Salford, Manchester said: “It makes a massive difference to the children – we teach in a really underprivileged area and most of the kids have never seen a horse before, but they love it!” Strictly Come Dressage is a fun event, which encourages everyone to have a go at performing a dressage to music test in costume. There are classes for individuals, Pas de deux (pairs) and Quadrilles (four plus). This year’s classes were judged by a guest panel of Emile Faurie, Vicky Winfield, Mark Ruddock, Tim Hatley and The Black Knight. Being so close to Halloween, there were many spooky tales unravelling at Oldencraig and plenty of spectacular costumes. Emile and his team are grateful to their generous sponsors who gave wonderful prizes, they included John Sankey Bespoke Funiture, Sally Dernie Interior Design, Dominic and Juliet Langdon-Down, The Wilkins Family, Equine Eclipse Services, Forelock Books, British Dressage Southern and Localrider Magazine.
