ucy Wheeler and Grangeford Boy finished on an impressive dressage score of 26 to head the BE90 Section E and claim their first ever BE win. Finishing 0.3 marks behind to take second place was Hannah Savage and the six-year-old Major Turn. The combination added 0.8 time penalties across country to their dressage mark of 25.5. The same dressage mark was shared by Lisa Pilbeam and Cavaliers Molly Moot, who rolled a pole, adding four to finish in third. Lisa had a successful weekend winning BE90 Section A on the six-year-old Doucette du Seigneur, winning BE90 Section D on GalwayBay Timberlina and finishing third in the BE100 Plus on the 15-year-old Puissance sired, Cullawn Warrior. Naomi Henderson and the eight-year-old Watchover Tigger headed BE90 Section B, a section, which saw just one mark separating the top three. Now in their seventh season together, Zoe Macqueen and 15-year-old Moon Sparrow took second place, with Victoria Whiteman and Summer VII finishing third. Emily Taggart and the six-year-old Solo XII added nothing to their impressive dressage mark of 27.5 to head BE90 section C. Victorious return for Saucy Pickle
The BE80 Training classes offer a wonderful opportunity to riders who want to start British Eventing. The courses are friendly and inviting and there is a British Eventing coach on hand to offer competitors help and support on the day. Nicola Welch and Saucy Pickle have only ever competed in two BE events, both at Chilham. Last year they left, having been eliminated in the show jumping and this year they went home the winners of BE Airowear 80 section F. Second place went to a combination which was competing in their first ever BE event, Madeleine Tomlin and Chiddock Lord of the Manor, with Elaine Souter and Verver M in third. An impressive dressage score of 23.3 allowed Melissa Joannides to add eight faults from the show jumping, to still head BE Airowear 80 section G with Strike Up the Band. Zoe Gould and Kiliterian Robuck Girl took second, with Libby Halls and Indio in third.
Sunday’s competition saw a dazzling mix of top riders competing in the BE100 and Novice sections. Badminton bound Gemma Tattersall headed BE100 section J with the six-year-old Tillingbourne. Owned by the Harris’s this was Gemma’s first win on the gelding she has been riding for two seasons.
