S
trictly Come Dressage raised over £2,000 for the Emile Faurie Foundation. Since it was founded in 2006 the foundation has helped over 9,000 children learn to ride. However the benefits go much further than simply learning to ride, as Emile is frequently hearing from teachers that they also observe a change in the children’s behaviour: their attendance goes up, they concentrate more, they are more respectful and in general their behaviour is better. Emile would like to be able to help more children learn to ride, but it is only through fundraising events like Strictly Come Dressage that funds can be raised and he is very grateful to Ian and Vicky Winfield of Oldencraig Equestrian Centre for their continued support of the Foundation.
Jennifer sparkles again
Faith Bedford’s wonderful Shetland pony, Coedpoeth Jennifer, returned for her seventh appearance at Strictly Come Dressage disguised as a ‘little white bull’. Jennifer was beautifully ridden by 10-year-old Lucy Thomas, performing a floor plan to the sound of Tommy Steele’s 1970’s hit, Little White Bull to take the Junior Individual title. Lucy learnt to ride on Jennifer when she was small, but only started riding her again in preparation for Strictly five weeks ago. She is still largely ridden by her 2014 Strictly partner, Rosie Moore and the pair have had a busy summer taking part in Shetland races. Lucy and Jennifer were also part of the second placed Quadrille. Telling the story of a wedding ceremony, Lucy and Jennifer were the flower girls, Fi Drew was the bride, Tom Grabham the groom and Maisie Hodges the bishop.

We are off to see the Wizard
Darcy Foss, Ben Foss, Katherine Davison and Grace Davis performed to an old favourite, the Wizard of Oz to take the Strictly Come Dressage Quadrille title. They put together a tight and fun performance, with great attention to the detail of both their costumes and floorplan. Third place in the Quadrille went to Strictly regulars Kerry Upton, Judith Charmin, Harri Eccarius and Laura Matthews who whooped things up with their Cowboy themed programme. Amy Widdows and her stunning grey, Horton’s Pink Panther are always a joy to watch, combining extravagant displays with wonderful costumes, this year’s Snowman routine saw them take the Individual Strictly title.
Partnered by Amy’s sister, Buddy Allum and Old Park Rose, Amy and Horton’s Pink Panther also claimed the Pas de Deux Championship. Their ‘Parrots of the Caribbean’ costumes looked fabulous and their footwork flawless. It was tight at the top and second placed Amanda Petts on Carisio and Lois Colins on Madrina couldn’t have been many marks behind. Their exquisite costumes sparkled under the lights and an exciting floorplan kept the audience spell bound throughout.
