ello nostalgia, my old friend! If you know me, you’ll know I’m sentimental. So, this week served up quite the treat – a walk down memory lane with some of our favourite ’90s child stars. In their heyday, Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen were It girls. I’m sure you, like us here at OK! HQ, lapped up all the episodes of Full House, their movies and merchandise.

But they’ve since gone to ground and rarely step into the spotlight. Now, it seems a family feud is tearing them apart (p16). There are also grave fears Britney Spears is headed for another relapse (p8). But it’s not all bad news from Hollywood – Amanda Bynes has finally found her happy ever after (p14)!
ON THE MOVE It seemed like Justin Bieber was channelling young Elliott from ET the Extra-Terrestrial when he E wa as snapped riding his bike through Beverly Hills, California, recently.

ayley Vernon has caused quite a stir during this season of Married At First Sight, thanks to her rocky marriage to David Cannon, rumours of flirtations with another groom and just generally being painted as this year’s ‘villain’. Now the fiery bride, 32, has been finding comfort in her friendship with former MAFS contestant Jessika Power, 28, who have bonded over their villainous reputation! SISTERS TORN APART!
Inside the $600 million feud that’s dividing the Olsen family
While the twins have retreated from the spotlight, Elizabeth has stepped out from their shadow
T
hey were America’s sweethearts and for the majority of our younger years, they were the girls you wanted to be. However, after MaryKate and Ashley Olsen, both 33, retreated from the Hollywood scene following their last movie together in 2004, the question on everyone’s lips has been – what on earth happened to the twins? Here, OK! delves deep into Mary-Kate and Ashley’s introverted lives and exposes the family secret they’ve been trying to hide from the world.
ELIZABETH HAS BEEN DISTANCING HERSELF FROM MARYKATE AND ASHLEY
A FRACTURED FAMILY
But in recent years, the pendulum of power has swung dramatically between the three sisters. Mary-Kate
and Ashley’s star began to wane after a string of mishaps, and OK! can reveal Avengers star Elizabeth, 31 – who is now worth considerably more than her sisters – has turned her back on the twins. ‘Elizabeth’s a star in her own right now – as soon as she joined the Marvel franchise she was set. She has the potential to make hundreds of millions of dollars as long as she treads carefully, avoids scandal and appears friendly and approachable – unlike her sisters who can come across as cold,’ explains a source. ‘Elizabeth has been distancing herself from Mary-Kate and Ashley this
past year, as much as it pains the actress to do so.’
WHAT WENT WRONG?
The trouble with being associated with the twins began in 2008, when Elizabeth was just a teenager and Mary-Kate allegedly hooked up with Heath Ledger before his untimely death from a drug overdose. It’s believed she was the last person to see him alive. Since then, Mary-Kate and her sister have become more well known for their fearfully frail frames, chain-smoking habits and dating older men rather than 17
TEXT BY KARLEIGH SMITH & SARA TAPIA
For a time, Mary-Kate and Ashley’s younger sister Elizabeth proudly positioned herself as something of a third Olsen twin alongside her lookalike older siblings. And it wasn’t a bad move, given the almost identical pair made the Olsen name the most recognisable brand in Hollywood, thanks to their film, TV, book and fashion ventures.
NEWS

THEIR EMPIRE
The pair founded luxury brand The Row in 2006, and later added contemporary line Elizabeth and James to their portfolio. However, in 2018, they closed down their Elizabeth and James stores and in-house operations.
The brand’s perfumes are still available, thanks to a partnership with Kohl’s

acting and fashion design. (Mary-Kate is married to French businessman Olivier Sarkozy, who is 17 years her senior, while Ashley dated financier Richard Sachs, who was a whopping 28 years older than the savvy businesswoman). ‘They’ve turned into these weird hermits who scurry around New York in oversized coats and glasses,’ tells OK!’s insider. ‘They openly spurn fans and the media, and come across as unapproachable to the very people who made them household names.’ Meanwhile, their sister’s star power is currently on the rise and she wants to keep it that way. ‘Elizabeth is very media savvy and doesn’t want to be tarnished with the same brush,’ adds the insider. ‘She’s moved to LA to start her own life, and doesn’t even see them when they’re visiting from New York.’
TOO MUCH, TOO SOON?
LOVE ON THE DOWN LOW While Mary-Kate is still married to husband Olivier, 50, Ashley has been dating New York artist Louis Eisner, 31, for the past three years.
18 WWW.OKMAGAZINE.COM.AU
Having made their acting debut at the tender age of nine months on Full House, Mary-Kate and Ashley’s rise to fame and sudden retreat from the spotlight has often been dubbed as a classic case of too much, too soon. The sisters became co-presidents of company Dualstar on their 18th birthday in 2004, but gave up making movies together that same year. ‘I don’t like to be the centre of attention anymore,’ Ashley later said. It wasn’t the easiest transition for the child stars, with Mary-Kate treated for an eating disorder in 2004, and both she and Ashley ended up leaving New York University before graduating. ‘We’ve had ups and downs,’ Ashley previously acknowledged. ‘We just
don’t like talking about ourselves or talking about what we’re doing. It’s not really our approach.’
DESERVE CREDIT
While Mary-Kate and Ashley were once worth a whopping $600 million, and have seen success with their fashion lines Elizabeth and James and The Row, it’s their younger sister who’s now set to make the big bucks in the family. ‘Elizabeth has been told she stands to make half a billion dollars if she plays her cards right in Hollywood,’ tells the source. ‘But I sense huge problems there. Mary-Kate and Ashley aren’t making money like they used to – but don’t forget, they’re accustomed to money lasting forever.’ Having been the ones who made Olsen a household name, insiders say Mary-Kate and Ashley think they deserve some credit for their younger sister’s success – after all, she shares their famous surname. ‘They believe Elizabeth wouldn’t be a successful actress if it weren’t for them opening doors for her in the beginning,’ adds the insider. ‘I wouldn’t put it past them to remind their sister she has them to thank for her fame – but she’ll flip. She thinks it’s a miracle she’s gotten this far, given the difficult reputation of her sisters.’
‘Why the hell does Mary-Kate look so different from Ashley?’ questioned one fan
WHAT HAS MK DONE?
Mary-Kate has certainly changed from this fresh-faced teen
There was a time when you couldn’t tell the fraternal twins apart, but rumours that Mary-Kate has had surgery to look different from Ashley have been rife for years.
BACK IN THE DAY
Starting out at just nine months old on Full House, Mary-Kate and Ashley went on to make a number of teen movies including Passport to Paris, Our Lips Are Sealed, It Takes Two and Holiday in the Sun – which made them millions. 19

The lovebirds put their wedding plans on hold as pregnancy rumours swirl
T
hey celebrated the one-year anniversary of their engagement on Valentine’s Day, but insiders say Katy Perry and Orlando Bloom are no closer to finalising their wedding plans – with an unexpected but exciting surprise putting a spanner in the works! Katy stepped out with a suspicious looking bump in London earlier this month, sparking whispers she’s expecting a bundle of joy. ‘It definitely looked like a baby bump,’ says an onlooker of the star. ‘She kept placing her hand protectively over her stomach, almost as if she was cradling it.’ And insiders say the singer’s predilection for pink – matching her shoes and earrings to her Lela Rose dress – on her night out at London’s Shaftesbury Theatre, could be a hint at the baby’s gender!
READY FOR KIDS
‘I really want to enjoy family ‘[It’s] definitely matured and friends, my beautiful son me,’ Katy admitted last [he shares nine-year-old Flynn year of becoming a with his ex-wife Miranda Kerr, step-parent to Flynn. 36], and have more kids,’ Orlando ‘I guess this is said at the time. adulting.’ As for Katy, her maternal clock has been ticking for some time now. ‘Children to me are becoming a big focus,’ she said back in 2016.
WEDDING ON HOLD
After Orlando’s proposal last year, Katy quickly started planning their nuptials. ‘I’m actually not a bridezilla, I call myself, like, a bridechilla,’ the Harleys in Hawaii singer recently admitted. ‘I’m like, I’m kinda chill but I’m one of those girls where I got engaged February 14th and then I booked the place February 19th. I took it very seriously.’ But now that she’s said to have a new addition on the way, the couple have had to rethink the timing of their big day. ‘Katy had wanted to wait until after they were married to have kids, but that’s not written in stone,’ explains another insider of the pair. ‘If she were pregnant today, she’ll probably just postpone the wedding until after the baby’s born.’
SHE’LL PROBABLY JUST POSTPONE THE WEDDING UNTIL AFTER THE BABY’S BORN
FAMILY PLANNING
It wouldn’t be a surprise if the singer is, in fact, pregnant. Katy, 35, and Orlando have revealed their desire to start a family together – with the Pirates of the Caribbean actor, 43, divulging last year more kids were definitely on his current agenda. 20 WWW.OKMAGAZINE.COM.AU

‘Big-dress energy’ was a theme at the spring shows, with puff sleeves and ruffles aplenty as designers embraced romance and nostalgia. Examples of the trend executed in white had an added layer of naivety, with a sense of escapism. The best of these were seen at Erdem, Simone Rocha and Christian Dior, which all had a cinematic mood evoking classics such as Picnic at Hanging Rock and Daughters of the Dust. We love this look for daytime: let your dress do the work and keep everything else simple!
W Whether it’s a subconscious orr intentional reflection of the cu urrent economic and political cclimate, or a reaction to the m more overt trends of recent years, a prim and elegant bourrgeois look has emerged. The sstyle was spearheaded by Hedi Slimane at Céline, with his m more literal interpretation of the reference. Prada and Chlo oé, meanwhile, went for ap pared-back take on the trend, exploring a restrained approach to spring dressing. Bright hues weren’t the only colours on the runway – there were swathes of pastels, too. We loved examples from Marco De Vincenzo (with gelato to match), Gucci and Emilia Wickstead. They’re flattering and mood-elevating with an undercurrent of innocence – a big reason designers often return to this delightful palette. Wear pastels head to toe, or add a touch to your beauty look for a sweet yet modern approach.
TIP
Pastels can be for autumn, too! Add a pop of bolder colour in your coat or trousers to tone down the sweetness.

Polka dots have been on our radar for a while – they’ve been popular with local designers this season – and there was a spate of them at recent shows. We spotted dots at Michael Kors, Carolina Herrera, Dries Van Noten and more. Bold yet classic, black and white made for the most popular combo, with the trend looping into fashion’s fascination with the late ’80s and early ’90s. Think Julia Roberts in Pretty Woman or Princess Diana on a photo call. We advocate a layering of spots for a decisive, modern look.

Brought to you by Cam revealed a better diet helped her fight her acne woes
W
hile pimples and acne are skin concerns we’d hoped to leave behind in our teens, the truth is the likelihood of breakouts extends well into our 20s and 30s. And although hormones are typically not to blame as we age, there are many factors – including diet and poor hygiene habits – that are still leaving us prone to blemishes. If your case is severe, it’s always best to consult a dermatologist before treating your skin. However, there are a tonne of products that are readily available to nix your breakouts for good – specifically, those that contain salicylic acid. Of course, both lactic and glycolic acids work wonders to exfoliate the upper layer of the skin, but salicylic acids actually penetrate your skin and unclog your pores, eliminating any excess dirt or sebum that may be causing your breakouts. Here, we break down all you need to know… WHAT IS SALICYLIC ACID? ‘Salicylic acid is a beta hydroxyl acid that works to dissolve skin cells at the skin’s top layer,’ says Mario Badescu’s head aesthetician, Elena Arboleda. While the acid is often used as an anti-ageing ingredient, its most common use is to target breakouts.
#nowtrending
WHAT DOES IT DO FOR SKIN? According to Elena, ‘the exfoliating properties of salicylic acid can help prevent accumulation of dead skin cells and impurities at the skin’s surface that can clog pores and cause dullness’. In order to flush out impurities, salicylic acids work to loosen – and even break apart – the connection between your skin cells. This type of acid also encourages clarity and brightness. HOW OFTEN SHOULD YOU USE A SALICYLIC ACID? While the frequency of application will vary from product to product, most will recommend use twice daily. But always be sure to read the product label and apply it as instructed.
This buzzy ingredient is your new skincare hero to help nix annoying breakouts 40 WWW.OKMAGAZINE.COM.AU
WHEN SHOULD I APPLY IT? Although many products containing salicylic acid recommend you apply them in the morning and night, you should always be cautious when using an ingredient like this in the day. ‘Salicylic acid can make the skin more sensitive to the sun,’ says Elena. If your skin is

There are many salicylic acid-based cleansers and toners on the market that work to both clear your skin of congestion and calm the redness or irritation that often comes with breakouts.
already sensitive to the sun, she recommends limiting your application to the evening. But if you need to apply a salicylic acid during the day, be sure to follow it up with plenty of sunscreen. HOW LONG DOES IT TAKE FOR SALICYLIC ACIDS TO WORK? While the efficacy of a salicylic acid will vary depending on a person’s skin, Elena says you could potentially see improvements to your skin overnight. WILL A SALICYLIC ACID IRRITATE MY SKIN? Like many acids, overuse – or use in high percentages – can leave your skin prone to irritation and redness. But there are other variables that could come into play if your skin reacts negatively after use. ‘The percentage of salicylic acid available for purchase without a prescription is tolerated very well by most people,’ says Elena. But if, for example, your salicylic product is formulated with lots of other active ingredients that feel too stripping on your skin, then cease use.

Performed using a small probe (no bigger than an eyelash, don’t worry!), it’s inserted into each individual pimple or acne lesion. Heat is applied and this permanently destroys the
sebaceous gland, which is responsible for oil production in the skin. The result means acne, pimples, whiteheads and blackheads are stopped in their tracks. You’ll feel a tiny zap each time, but the sensation is pretty mild. For best pimple-free results, book every two to four weeks – and depending on the severity, anywhere from six to 12 treatments might be needed. COST $129

HOW I GET MY GLOW!
In an OK! exclusive, the new mum spills on health, wellness and plans for baby no. 2!
F
rom the moment she won Matty J’s heart on The Bachelor in 2017, Laura Byrne has wowed us with her seemingly effortless glow – even after giving birth to their daughter Marlie-Mae last June. Yet make no mistake, Laura’s faced the same challenges as any new mum. ‘It’s a slow process springing back after having a baby,’ the Bio-Oil ambassador reveals. But while there have been some sleepless nights, Laura says it’s been more than worthwhile while cradling MarlieMae in her arms. ‘It feels like she’s been here the whole time,’ she smiles. ‘I can’t remember what life was like without her!’ How do you guys balance things? I do the nights. Matt sleeps very peacefully and I wake up many times [laughs]. But he’s amazing during the day. He really takes charge of the nappy changing and all of the gross bits during the day. We’re really lucky because Matt’s job [as a Nova 96.9 host] is so flexible. He works from home a lot so he’s really hands on. I’m the same with my work, so it’s great because we can tag team and really share the load. Did it take time to recover post-baby? I think the recovery is probably the bit that people don’t talk about enough. I don’t think I actually felt normal until months after the birth. You’re so tired and sore, then you have to take care of this little life and it’s very physically demanding and also emotionally and mentally demanding. How did you ease back into workouts? I started walking 5000 steps, then I worked my way up to 10,000 steps a day. I’ve only [in the past few months] started going back to the gym and doing light workouts. But my mentality towards
exercise has shifted. Now I just care abo it from a general health perspective. Marlie must keep you on your toes It’s actually crazy! I track my steps and I probably do around 15,000 steps a da The majority of that is just from walkin around cleaning, holding Marlie, rockin Marlie, picking stuff up and walking from one room to another.
‘I knew he’d be a great dad,’ Laura says of Matty Bio-Oil is her go-to moisturiser: ‘I bathe in it sometimes’
What would you eat in a typical day We do a lot of Deliveroo or Uber Eats, but we try and pick super-healthy dinner options. When we order Thai we’ll order a healthy-ish stir-fry and a big side of vegetables that we split between us. We fill everything out with extra vegies. That means you’re filling up on the good stuff instead of all the naughty calories. Do you have a skincare routine? I’ve used Bio-Oil as a moisturiser since my early 20s. I used it throughout my pregnancy as a preventative for stretch marks, and now I still use it, especially because I find my skin is so much drier than it used to be.
Laura’s tip for eating out is to add a side of vegies!
Any advice for your younger self? When I look back on my perspective of my body when I was 19 or in my early 20s, it makes me sad I didn’t enjoy it more. I look back at photos of myself and go, ‘I was so hard on myself!’ I wish I could go back in time and tell my younger self to be a bit kinder. Are there any wedding plans? We’re terrible – we haven’t planned anything [laughs]! We keep tossing up whether we’ll get married this year or whether we’ll have baby number two. We’d love Marlie and our second child to be close in age. 47

MAKE YOUR BUSINESS IDEA
Whether it’s a side hustle or your own full-scale empire, here’s how to make it happen
S
ure, she’s the world’s youngest self-made billionaire, but Kylie Jenner remembers a time when her make-up empire was just a dream. ‘Something I just became obsessed with was lips and lipstick, and how wearing lipstick made me feel,’ the 22-year-old KUWTK star explains. ‘That’s kind of how Kylie Cosmetics started.’ And while yes, you could definitely argue that being part of the KarJenner conglomerate gave her a head start, Kylie followed one of the main rules of business: stick to something you’re passionate about. Business strategist and Visible author Nicola Moras reveals the five key points you need to know…
KYLIE JENNER
KIM KARDASHIAN
1 CHOOSE WISELY
3 STAY IN YOUR LANE
Let’s face it, setting up a business and getting it going can be tough, challenging and gruelling. From the time it requires you to put in, through to the incessant amount of energy required, you have to be passionate about what you’re creating. Alternately, build a business around something you’ve already got lots of experience with. This way, you’ll know how to get things moving fast and sustainably.
Business owners who are entrepreneurial by nature tend to have lots of ideas. This can lead to distraction and can mean that key projects may end up unfinished. The lure of ‘shiny objects’ is real! Stay focused on one idea. Get it up and running, and you can always look to diversify later.
2 DON’T SWEAT OVER COMPETITORS When you’re starting out, a lot of advice you might get is to research your competitors. It’s wise to do this, so you’ll know your product and service is needed, but stop once you have this data. Watching your competitors can undermine your confidence and distract you from what you’re building. 48 WWW.OKMAGAZINE.COM.AU
4 TAKE THREE FOCUSED ACTIONS EACH DAY From accounting to inventory, to marketing and selling, and all the way through to fulfilment, there are a lot of demands on your attention. Every day, choose three things you need to focus on and achieve that day. Repeat this each day, and you’ll find you’ll get so much more done than if you had a list of 25! Additionally, you’ll end the day with a sense of achievement.
5 GET SOCIAL One of the biggest causes of failure for a business is a lack of consistent marketing. Share posts daily on your company’s social media profiles. The content you post can range from hints, tips and advice to education. Focus on who your audience is, what their problems, stress points, dreams and goals are, and create content that helps to solve or achieve them. This helps to build trust and relationships with your target audience. When people trust a business, they buy from a business! For more tips from Nicola, head to nicolamoras.com.au

UPGRADE AUCTIONS
Let’s be honest, when was the last time shamelessly begging actually worked to get bumped up to business? Don’t leave it to chance – instead, see if your airline offers upgrade auctions for a cheaper way to nab premium seats. You’ll either receive an email invitation from your carrier, or check their website in the lead-up to your flight to see if you qualify to bid.
LOUNGING AROUND
Don’t be left looking longingly at the hallowed ground of limitless booze, much needed showers, plush seats and peace and quiet that is an airport lounge. While access usually comes courtesy of a membership or business or first-class ticket, LoungeBuddy (loungebuddy.com. au) helps you bypass that annoying criteria and instead buy a single-use pass. Best of all, passes start from as little as
$35 – kerching! You’ll be enjoying those all-inclusive amenities in no time!
HAUTE HOTEL FOR LESS
Cursing your decision to be a cheapskate and have an hours-long stopover somewhere during the day? Make the most of it – and the luxury hotels that offer cheaper daytime rates – by staying between 9am and 5pm and going hard on all the luxury facilities for up to 70 per cent less. Think a stint at The RitzCarlton in Vienna for $299 instead of the usual $1055 overnight splurge!
SOOTHING STOPOVER
Don’t wait until you get to your hotel to fork out for an outrageously priced massage to soothe sore muscles. Get seen to it in transit for a lot less with airport spas or a relaxing yoga stint. Some airports such as Helsinki and San Francisco have onsite yoga rooms, while airport spas such as Be Relax (berelax. com), which has over 52 locations around the world, will leave you relaxed with chair or table massages, a steam or a stop at their juice bar.
MAKE IT RAIN
There’s nothing like a shower to make you feel a million bucks, so if you’re 20 hours in transit and counting, there’s a budget way to cleanse yourself of that globetrotting grime. Some airports such as Singapore’s Changi offer pay-per-use

showers for the bargain price of $18 (hallelujah!), while those in the US should keep an eye out for Minute Suites. Not only does this service have showers and hair dryers, you can also book a suite for that much needed catnap.

OK, so you’ve arrived – now to recharge with a delicious feed. But don’t fall victim to overpriced tourist traps – fire up food-lover websites such as The Fork (thefork.com.au)and Eat Club (eatclub. com.au), which offer huge discounts (50 per cent of your total bill, anyone?) at high-quality eateries. Do your research and look at the reviews for the best-value restaurants.

ust like home décor, fashion and beauty, plants have predicted trends as well. So before you rush out to your nearest plant nursery, take a look at what’s on the hot list for horticulture for the start of the new decade…
LOW MAINTENANCE STATEMENTS
NATIVE GARDENS
With three in four Australians tending to backyard plants, Plant Life Balance expect to see wild native gardens abuzz with pollinators and wildlife as neighbours trade edible produce and stories over the fence. The renewed enthusiasm for more climate-appropriate or drought-tolerant varieties of native plants can be partly attributed to our sensitivity for sensible water usage. This is particularly at the forefront of the minds of many Australians in light of recent droughts – thought to be the worst in 800 years! ‘Hardly any Australian native plants need to be sprayed for pests and disease, whereas a lot of exotic plants do,’ explains Narelle Happ, a horticulturalist
NO-FRILLS PLANTS r for A Garden for Life. ‘So, just by simply choosing Australian plants, you’re contributing positively to the environment,’ she adds.
HORTICULTURE FOR HEALTH
HERE ARE SOME LOW-MAINTENANCE INDOOR PLANTS AND TREES TO LOOK FOR…

This year will see a rise in the use of gardening as a tool for mindfulness. Both active and passive forms of gardening can make a difference to your mental and physical health, according to horticultural therapist Toni Salter. ‘Gardening activities like digging, shovelling and playing with soil can provide instant gratification for your mind,’ says Toni. ‘Focusing on an activity like this can be a great distraction from feelings of anxiety and can produce a rewarding end result. It helps to “stay in the moment” and appreciate the process.’ Toni explains that even more passive activities like potting up seedlings or sowing seeds can be a form of relaxation, especially if the gardener is given choice over what is being planted.
COMPILED BY GABRIELLA DEL GRANDE
Over the past 12 months, two in five Australians bought a low-maintenance plant. In this same p cent of nursery retail surveyed saw an incr in enquiries relating to easy maintenance plants. But, sadly, Australians also managed to kill at least 72 million LEA MICHELE plants in the past year. With our lives getting busier every day, and an everincreasing need to be water wise, it’s no wonder low mainten plants are seen as an attractive choice. ‘Hard-edged, man-made materials dominate today’s world, so it’s vital to incorporate greenery into the home for our health,’ says Jason Chongue, Plant Life Balance ambassador and owner of The Plant Society. ‘Indoor trees with their beautiful leaf structure and sturdy trunks impart a strong style statement while being great for purifying the air.’

SCOTT & SOFIA
SHOCK SPLIT? T hey’ve been dating for two years, but it hasn’t been smooth-sailing for Scott Disick and Sofia Richie. Insiders say the seemingly rock-solid pair have had many ups and downs during their relationship, revealing there’s always ‘some kind of drama’ between them. ‘Scott and Sofia are the type of couple that constantly split up and get back together,’ the insider says. ‘It’s all very dramatic and then all good again.’ And it seems the pair are suffering through one of their ‘off ’ periods again,
after Sofia appeared upset during a day out on February 12. The model caused whispers of yet another split when she was seen jumping into her old Range Rover and not using the luxury Aston Martin that Scott, 36, bought for her 21st birthday last August. The sighting came just days after the couple were spotted looking miserable during an outing in Los Angeles, with Scott storming ahead of his younger girlfriend. ‘There was definitely some tension between them,’ tells an onlooker. Their on-off status isn’t the least surprising, with Scott previously sharing
an equally volatile relationship with his ex and the mother of his three children, Kourtney Kardashian, 40. Scott and Kourt had a very rocky romance during their nine years together and split up many times during that period. And whispers the Keeping Up with the Kardashians star could’ve had an impact on Scott and Sofia’s current split have been swirling, after Sofia was caught unfollowing her man’s ex on Instagram. ince the moment she took her first steps, Princess Charlotte has been stealing the royal spotlight. ‘It comes down to her personality. She’s fun, outgoing and headstrong, but knows when to mind her manners,’ shares a palace source, pointing to this past Christmas, when the adorable four-year-old made her first walk from Queen Elizabeth’s Sandringham House to St Mary Magdalene Church. ‘Unlike her brother Prince George, who’s always been a bit shy, Charlotte had no problem greeting fans and even did a little curtsey on the steps as the Queen drove by,’ the source continues. ‘She was so well-behaved, and all of the attention didn’t seem to bother her one bit.’ It’s all thanks to her parents, Prince William and Duchess Kate. ‘It would be very easy for Charlotte and her brothers

GIRL POWER
The cheeky youngster is said to be a bit of a tomboy and has one up on her older brother. ‘Charlotte bosses George around,’ shares the insider, noting that even Kate’s admitted her daughter is ‘the one in charge’. ‘When they play hide-and-seek, she’ll tell George to “sh” to not give her hiding spot away. And when they fight over what to watch on TV, Charlotte always wins.’ The pint-size princess’ show of choice? After he was mercilessly trolled for it on social media, the 20-year-old model lashed out – posting a video of himself shooting a gun, saying he’s never been ‘innocent’ and offering his home address so haters could confront him in person. All the drama has sparked a family crisis. ‘Cindy and Rande are at their wit’s end,’ says a source, noting the couple’s eldest was forced to strike a plea deal after getting g g a DUI in 2019. ‘Decidingg how

MASS CONFUSION
THE BLAME GAME
They don’t know where things went wrong. Aside from his arrest record and tattoos, Cindy and Rande are worried that Presley’s reaction to people online is a sign things are escalating. Meanwhile, Kaia’s romance with Pete raised red flags from the start. Before they got together in October, Pete – who’s been open about his drug use and mental health issues – went through a whirlwind of famous women including Ariana Grande, Kate Beckinsale and Margaret Qualley. There was more cause for concern, though. Days after Christmas, Rande and Cindy were photographed having a tense conversation outside Kaia’s
Cindy and Rande can’t help but question themselves and each other. ‘They feel as if they failed as parents,’ says the source. ‘And find themselves blaming each other for being bad parents.’ But the truth is Cindy and Rande are wonderful parents. ‘They aren’t bad parents. They always gave Presley and Kaia all the love and support they ever needed,’ says the source. ‘They went to the best schools, had access to every extracurricular activity possible – and yet Cindy and Rande still feel like they didn’t do enough with both of their kids spiralling out of control.’ A split now, amid the chaos, would be heartbreaking PERMANENT and expensive. very day is a juggling act for Kate Hudson. ‘She’s up early working out, getting the kids ready for school and going to work, and she still finds the energy to go to dinner with girlfriends or cook dinner for the family when she gets home,’ a source tells of the busy actress, author and fitness guru, who has two clothing lines, a new podcast and her very own brand of vodka. FAMILY FIRST
Ultimately, Kate’s children and boyfriend are her top priority. ‘Family’s most important and what she’s really all about,’ says the source. On weekends, she disconnects from work to focus on being a mum. ‘She loves to cook and chill out and have family and friends over. he’s one of the most stylish women in the world and a successful fashion designer in her own right. But now uber-cool Alexa Chung, along with Queer Eye’s Tan France, is on the hunt for the next big thing in fashion – and we can’t get enough of her new show Next in Fashion or the looks Alexa is serving up. As she goes on the hunt for fashion’s newest star, Alexa, 36, tells OK! about her sense of style, being her own boss, the stars she’d love to makeover, and how we’re all her inspiration when it comes to looking and feeling good. Yep, even grandads… How did you first become involved with Next in Fashion? I was approached quite late in the day, but I immediately said yes! I have my own fashion line in London, so it took a bit of manoeuvring. I spoke to my CEO and said, ‘I have been offered this thing…’ He literally flipped the table and was like, ‘What? Netflix! Yeah, we’re doing it!’ What was it like being paired with Queer Eye’s fashion maven, Tan, as judges on the show? Had you encountered each other before? It’s a leap of faith when they put you together, but we’d already met very briefly at a party. I’m a huge fan of Tan anyway, so I

Do you think the show accurately reflects diversity within the fashion industry? My experience of working in fashion and also setting up my own company is that it’s quite typical that you’ll have an office full of people from all over the world. In my office, there is only about five British people – everyone else is from somewhere else. So this show is less a gimmick and more an actual reflection of what goes on in the industry.
Alexa has been dating handsome toy boy Orsson Fry, 23 – a singer in the band Soundto own and occasional waiter – for th he past couple of months. She’s prev viously been coupled up with tw wo other musicians – Alex T Turner from the Arctic Monkeys from 2007 to 2011, and Albert Ha ammond Jr of The Strokes in 2012. Taking a break from singeers, Alexa dated actor Alexander Skarsgå ård for two years until the start of 2020. She’s also been linked to cinema stars Douglas Booth and Jared Leto. Lu ucky lady!
Has anything surprised you since you made the journey from model to designer? I’ve always worked hard, but I didn’t expect it to be so
emotional. I think the challenge isn’t necessarily creating things. I have fun in the office and it’s great, but the challenge is communication, learning to be diplomatic and taking care of other people’s feelings. That is the main thing about business, I think. What’s the best part of having your own fashion label? Free clothes! Free clothes that look exactly as I want them to look – that was always the idea. I still feel spoilt, actually. I did an order of my own collection one time, and it arrived when I was at my mum’s house because there was a delivery mess up, so these nine boxes of clothes were there. I started unwrapping them in front of my sister and my mum, and I felt so guilty about being given something that I’d made! Where do you get your ideas for new styles? Does inspiration just strike? I am compelled to observe fashion constantly, not necessarily even fashion per se but clothes. I’m obsessed! I do a stocktake of what people are wearing.

I’m always inspired by looking at strangers and seeing what they have on. It’s not necessarily a 27-year-old woman looking fabulous – often it’s grandpas, because stylishness can come from anything or anyone. Are there any celebrities you’ve seen on the red carpet who you would like to give a fashion makeover? No, because one of the most exciting things that has happened to red carpet dressing is that now people are a bit more irreverent. They used to play it a
bit more safe and everyone just wanted to look beautiful. Now you have people turning up for a moment. You’ve worked hard and built a successful career, but is there anything else you really want to get out of life? Everything! I don’t want everything, obviously, I just want to experience as much as possible and have a laugh. I don’t think things need to be so serious. I would just rather try and have a bit of fun. 75

Outlander returns
A LOVE ACROSS T After a very long wait, the series is back – here’s what you need to know about season five. Swoon alert!
TEXT BY SARA TAPIA
F
ans have suffered through an unusually long break between seasons four and five of Outlander, with #droughtlander trending on Twitter during the show’s absence from our TV screens. Thankfully, the new season is finally here. And while we’re excited to sink our teeth into the time-travelling epic romance once more, the show’s easy-onthe-eye star Sam Heughan has admitted he rather enjoyed his filming break. ‘For me, personally, it’s been fantastic. It opened a lot of opportunities,’ the 39-year-old Scottish actor shared of his time off. ‘I shot two movies in the hiatus last year. I actually think it’s necessary for me as an actor to go and do something different. I’ve been doing Outlander for six years now and so it’s good to go and stretch myself and try new things.’ Be that as it may, we’ve been waiting with bated breath to see what’s in store for Sam’s character Jamie and his true love Claire (played by Caitriona Balfe). At the end of last season, the governor of North Carolina orders Jamie to hunt down a rebellious group led by his good friend and godfather, Murtagh (Duncan Lacroix). It’s obvious that Jamie has some difficult decisions ahead of him, and Sam says it’s going to test his character’s loyalties like never before. ‘The greater objective of the season is that they know this war is coming, and Jamie’s on the wrong side,’ says Sam. ‘He’s doing it because he needs to provide for people. So he’s really stuck between a rock and a historic hard place.’ Watch Outlander season five Monday, 7.30pm on Foxtel

Horoscopes WANT TO KNOW WHAT THE WEEK AHEAD HOLDS? TURN TO THE STARS TO FIND OUT! FEB 19-MAR 20
Where would Adele be without her team of killer producers? This week is all about collabs, thanks to action planet Mars in your astro zone of networking. If you’re feeling more overworked than a royal nanny, look at the people around you and delegate. This zone also rules tech, so maps, apps and virtual services could save you time (and sanity).

There’s something different about you, Aries… wait, are you having a *feeling*? We jest, but this weekend, you may experience a shift from your normal peppy MO into a more emotional, softer vibe. Don’t fight it. This is a good time for doing something creative or connecting with your favourite humans on a more compassionate level.

Say hello to your old friend fear. Yep, you’re going to have to get your Brené Brown on and draw on deep reserves of courage. Go-getter Mars in your astro zone of risk-taking is pushing you to take a leap of faith… but being one of the more comfort-zone-happy signs, you might not be fully on board. Remember fear isn’t a reason to abandon your plans.

JUL 23-AUG 22
Here’s a ’Gram-able quote that might resonate: if everyone else loves you, you probably don’t. This week, setting boundaries will be your superpower – but you’ll have to let go of your fear of ruffling feathers. This Sunday, relationships planet Venus and big-energy planet Jupiter are clashing, so if you’ve been going along with what others want, step up and state your needs.
Sure, your sign is ruled by the sun, but that doesn’t mean everyone wants to revolve around you. Stressy Mars is in your astro zone of intimacy, which puts control issues right up in your grill. If your key relationships are full of tension, being attached to your version of events won’t help. Meanwhile, if you’re working hard, be careful not to sacrifice your wellbeing.

OCT 24-NOV 21
Here comes all your emotional baggage. On Sunday, love planet Venus in your astro zone of history does fisticuffs with independent Jupiter. Watch out for the influence of unhealthy relationship behaviours. Instead of overreacting, give yourself time to reflect on what’s going on underneath. Lean on a trusted friend or expert if you need an outsider’s perspective.
If you look up ‘romantic’ in the Macquarie Dictionary, you’ll probably find a pic of your own face. With love planet Venus in your zone of relationships, that energy is hell big. Singles could attract someone with long-term potential or coupled-up Libras could get a little romantic. And if you’re in a love situation that isn’t the real deal, you may have a decision to make…
Focus, Scorpio! Intense Mars is burning up your astro zone of brainpower and ideas, and the result could be over-stimulation at a Times Square level. Take the wheel of the out-of-control car that is your brain, and direct your focus and energy towards what’s important. Meanwhile, Monday’s new moon is a sweet time to set love goals.

On Friday, radical changemaker planet Uranus hooks up with pushy Mars in your astro zone of work and self-esteem, pouring petrol on your wildest plans. From overhauling work processes to overthrowing the patriarchy, nothing is off the table. Love-wise, if you’re disheartened about your romantic future, Venus in your romantic zone will have you feeling the love vibes again.
It’s getting hot in here! Erotic Mars is turning up the passion in your sign, helping you bring sexy back (yaaas!). Couples could spice up their sexual repertoire while singles may suddenly get a lot of attention. Meanwhile, Monday’s new moon brings a kinda magic to your goals and plans. Try taking a creative approach to what you’re working on to get momentum.

If you’ve got more-thanfriendly feelings for a friend, the planets are giving you an amber light. Love planet Venus is in your zone of social connections, which could prompt romances between ‘platonic’ friends (but tread carefully). Couples: swapping your usual Netflix and chill nights for social events will get you out of a rut.

It’s nice to be nice, but not when people are taking the piss. Intensifier Mars in your astro zone of compassion could prompt you to give the benefit of the doubt to peeps who don’t deserve it – especially in the romance department. If you’re seeking a LTR, don’t let desire overshadow any red flags. This is also the zone of endings, so some Aquarians might find themselves saying, ‘Bye, Felicia!’

The practical things you can do to help rebuild Australia, one town at a time There’s not a single Australian who hasn’t had their hearts broken by the horrific bushfires that have swept through our country. The road to rebuild will be long but as a nation we will: brick by brick, fence by fence. Bauer Media launched this campaign to help our neighbours in their time of need. Each week we will shine a spotlight on a town telling our generous readers how they can help, from the best fundraisers to donate to that specifically benefit the locals, to products they can buy from that town or region that support small businesses there. We’ll highlight the farmers who need fencing supplies, the schools which are short of books and pencils, the yoga school that needs mats or how to plan a getaway to the region when the time is right to bolster their local tourism industry. The Rebuild Our Towns campaign is centred on the fact that practical help doesn’t have to cost a fortune. Our love and thoughts go out to every person, but actions speak louder than words, so join us to make a difference and help our heartland heal.
