OK! takes a rare look inside the royal tot’s magical life…

ince the moment she took her first steps, Princess Charlotte has been stealing the royal spotlight. ‘It comes down to her personality. She’s fun, outgoing and headstrong, but knows when to mind her manners,’ shares a palace source, pointing to this past Christmas, when the adorable four-year-old made her first walk from Queen Elizabeth’s Sandringham House to St Mary Magdalene Church. ‘Unlike her brother Prince George, who’s always been a bit shy, Charlotte had no problem greeting fans and even did a little curtsey on the steps as the Queen drove by,’ the source continues. ‘She was so well-behaved, and all of the attention didn’t seem to bother her one bit.’ It’s all thanks to her parents, Prince William and Duchess Kate. ‘It would be very easy for Charlotte and her brothers

But William and Kate are going the extra mile to make sure they raise kind, grounded children,’ tells a former palace nanny, explaining that while the Cambridges try to live modestly, growing up royal still has plenty of perks. ‘Charlotte has several walk-in closets full of designer dresses and coats and shoes in every colour; she attends one of the most prestigious private schools in London; and when she gets older, she’ll inherit a trove of gorgeous gems and jewels from her great-grandmother,’ the insider continues. ‘She may have some small chores like other children, but there’s no denying she lives a very charmed life.’

GIRL POWER

The cheeky youngster is said to be a bit of a tomboy and has one up on her older brother. ‘Charlotte bosses George around,’ shares the insider, noting that even Kate’s admitted her daughter is ‘the one in charge’. ‘When they play hide-and-seek, she’ll tell George to “sh” to not give her hiding spot away. And when they fight over what to watch on TV, Charlotte always wins.’ The pint-size princess’ show of choice? STAR STUDENT

Now well into her first year at Thomas’s Battersea, which George also attends, Charlotte’s grown to love school. ‘She’s made so many friends and is known as the funny, outgoing leader in her class,’ says the insider, adding that Charlotte’s learning art, music, computing, drama and four languages – French, Latin, Spanish and Italian. But despite the tot’s linguistic skills, ‘she wants to be a ballerina when she grows up’, says the insider. ‘So she’s also taking a ballet class and loves it. She can plié and pirouette very nicely!’ All of Charlotte’s teachers adore her. ‘She’s such a strong and confident little girl. Everyone at the school is in awe of her,’ shares the insider, adding that William and Kate aren’t surprised. ‘They know Charlotte is one of a kind.’
