Mont Saint-Michel: Pyramid in the Sea When it comes to French islands, we usually think of Corsica, Reunion or Oléron, and only occasionally do we think of Mont Saint-Michel. This place, a premier tourist attraction of the country, was long ago cut off from the rest of France, and stayed this way even after the construction of a causeway uniting the island’s granite rock with continental plains. Унікальна природа й архітектурний комплекс роблять Мон-Сен-Мішель найбільш відвідуваною туристичною цікавинкою регіону, а у всій Франції це місце поступається популярністю тільки Ейфелевій вежі й Версалю. Чим же маленьке абатство приваблює щороку понад три мільйони туристів з усього світу?

Історія в легендах

До VIII століття острів мав назву Могильний пагорб і слугував монахам для усамітнення та молитви. За легендою, у 708 році єпископу розташованого неподалік містечка Аваранш Святому Оберу з’явився уві сні Архангел Михаїл і звелів звести на скелі каплицю. Єпископ не відразу виконав наказ, оскільки не був певен, чи правильно все зрозумів. І лише після третьої появи стража Райських воріт Обер звелів почати будівництво. Згодом він остаточно переконався у правильності свого рішення після низки чудес, які періодично траплялися. Екскурсоводи залюбки переказують легенду, як немовля зрушило гігантський валун, чи як роса окреслила місце закладення першого каменя абатства. Але найбільший сюрприз піднесла сама матінка природа: раптово море затопило рівнину і перетворило мальовничий пагорб на острів. Відтоді припливи з відпливами щоденно змінюють місцевий рельєф, заливаючи луги на кілометри та залишаючи після себе вологий пісок. Новина про дива розійшлася за сотні кілометрів, і Мон-Сен-Мішель поряд із Римом та Ель Каміно де Сантьяго став важливим місцем паломництва для вірян середньовічної Європи. 14 / PANORAMA № 9 / 2012

МАНДРІВНИКУ НА ЗАМІТКУ ПРОЇЗД Потягом: TGV від паризького вокзалу Монпарнас до Ренна, а звідти – на автобусі до Мон-Сен-Мішель; потягом з вокзалу Сен-Лазар до Кана, потім потягом до Понторсона, а звідти – автобусом до Мон-Сен-Мішель. Автомобілем: близько 400 км від Парижа по трасі А13 до Кана, далі звернути на дорогу А84 до Мон-Сен-Мішель; по трасі А10 – А11 – А81 через Шартр і Ренн. ПРОЖИВАННЯ Всередині абатства є чимало готелів на будь-який смак і гаманець. Найкраще обрати готель із зовнішньої сторони Гранд-рю і номер із краєвидом заливу, розташований мінімум на четвертому поверсі. Вийде дорожче, але так ви не пропустите найбільш ефектні моменти припливу. Ще один бонус – можливіс ть прогулятися по нічній Гранд-рю без натовпів туристів. Ціновий діапазон – €50-180 на особу за добу, сніданок – €14-15. Розміщення в готелях за межами абатства обійдетьс я дещо дешевше (€48-120 на особу за добу, сніданок – €8-10) і дасть змогу милуватися видом на острів вдень і вночі. Список готелів – на сайті ot-montsaintmichel.com/hotels. ХАРЧУВАННЯ На острові немає продуктових магазинів, купити можна тільки воду. Вдень можна перекусити просто на вулиці сендвічами, млинцями або вафлями, а ввечері – тільки в ресторанах. Комплексний обід коштує від €15. Найвідоміший заклад – відкритий у 1888 році готель-ресторан La Mère Poulard (Гранд-рю, 18; merepoulard.com; проживання – €170-405 на особу за добу). КОРИСНІ ПОРАДИ 1. Осінь – оптимальна пора для відвідання Мон-Сен-Мішель: у цей час тут тримаєтьс я доволі приємна погода й спадає шалений наплив туристів. 2. Піднімаючись на скелю, обов’язково візьміть із собою теплий одяг і дощовик із капюшоном – погода тут змінюєтьс я доволі часто, можливі дощі, а при сильному вітрі користуватися парасолькою – справа марна. 3. Перед поїздкою звіртеся з календарем припливів і відпливів на офіційному сайті абатства ot-montsaintmichel.com. Для візиту радимо вибрати той день, коли припливи будуть максимально високі. 4. Чергу до абатства варто зайняти з самого ранку. По-перше, чекати доведетьс я значно менше, ніж після обіду, по-друге, потік туристів ще не закриє собою всі інтер’єри споруди. Графік роботи: щодня з 9:30 до 18:00 з 1 вересня по 30 квітня (окрім 25 грудня, 1 січня та 1 травня). 5. Якщо ви приїхали на автомобілі, не залишайте його на нижніх парковках – під час припливу він опиниться під водою.

he little rocky island, named after Archangel Michael, is located in Normandy, about 400 kilometres northwest of Paris. The island’s unique natural structure and complexion have made Mont Saint-Michel one of the most visited tourist attractions of the region, and France as a whole, only losing out to such landmarks as the Eiffel Tower and Versailles in terms of popularity. So what makes this small abbey attract over three million tourists from around the world each year?

History in Legends

Before the 8th century, the island was called the Grave Mound, and served for monks as a sanctuary for solitude and prayer. According to legend, in 708 AD, the bishop of nearby town Avaranche, Saint Aubert, saw Archangel Michael in a dream. Michael ordered him to build a chapel on the rock. The bishop was reluctant to fulfil this command, however, as he wasn’t sure whether he had understood the Archangel correctly. Only after the Sentinel of the Gates of Heaven appeared for the third time did Aubert finally order construction to begin. A series of miracles later convinced him that his decision had been correct. Guides will gladly tell you the legend about a baby moving a giant boulder, or how morning dew outlined the location where the abbey’s first stone was to be laid. But the biggest surprise was presented by Mother Nature herself when the sea flooded the valley, and turned the picturesque hill into an island. Ever since, high and low tides have daily changed the local landscape, flooding meadows for miles and leaving only wet sand behind. News of this miracle spread for miles, and Mont Saint-Michel became an important pilgrimage site for Christians of medieval Europe, along with Rome and El Camino de Santiago.

Gargantua’s Work

So how did this rock, which the French consider the eighth wonder of the world, come into existence? Legend says that the coastline changed considerably after a devastating storm at the beginning of the 8th century. Coastal forests and meadows were submerged under water, and two hills became islands. The larger of them soon became the foundations of this medieval city. There is, however, another tale saying that these two rocks were brought here by mythical giants, whose unbelievable adventures were described in the 16th century in the satirical and philosophical novels of Francois Rabelais. The giant’s father Grangousier took the bigger rock – Mont Saint-Michel, while his wife Gargamelle modestly heaved the smaller one – Tombelaine. When they got tired of carrying the giant boulders, they just left them to lie at the coast of Normandy. The legend goes on to say that it is under those same rocks that the giants were buried. The giants’ son, Gargantua, also made a contribution to shaping the local landscape. He created the river Couesnon. As for how he did it – we’ll leave it to the local guide to blush and reveal the story. Incidentally, this river is the boundary between Normandy and Brittany. The neighbouring regions argued about the allegiance of this island for so long that the French came up with a saying: “Couesnon has gone crazy, that’s why Mont Saint-Michel ended up in Normandy.”

The Monastery City

It took a long time to build the monastery of St. Michael – from the 11th to the 16th century. Even the naked eye can see the difference of styles (from Romanesque to Gothic), creating a unique natural and cultural complex. Як же виникла скеля, на якій, якщо вірити французам, знаходиться восьме диво світу? Легенда мовить, що на початку VIII століття берегова лінія значно змінилася після руйнівного шторму. Прибережні ліси та луги зникли під водою, а два схили перетворилися на острови. На більшому з них і з’явилося середньовічне місто. За іншою версією, обидві скелі притягли сюди міфічні велетні, пригоди яких у своїх сатирико-філософських романах описав французький письменник XVI століття Франсуа Рабле. Батько Грангузьє підняв більшу скелю – Мон-Сен-Мішель, а матір Гаргамелле скромно обмежилася меншою – Томблен. Втомившись, гіганти полишили валуни біля нормандського берега. Кажуть, що під ними велетнів і було поховано. Їхній син – велетень Гаргантюа, – теж мав відношення до місцевого рельєфу. Він створив річку Куенон. Приплив радості

Пікантності Мон-Сен-Мішель додають найбільші в Європі припливи – всього за один день рівень води піднімається на цілих 10 метрів, а в період відпливів море відступає від берегів на 20 кілометрів, оголяючи місцевість навкруги зі швидкістю до 20-30 км/годину! За часів Середньовіччя цей природний феномен додавав Мон-Сен-Мішель містичності й загадки. Протягом майже тисячі років прочани долали сотні кілометрів, щоб пройти по так званому “шляху до раю” і помолитися Архангелу Михаїлу. Проте потрапити на острів було не так уже й легко – немов міфічна Атлантида, МонСен-Мішель щодня частково занурювався під воду. А тому монахи пунктуально слідкували за годинами припливів і відпливів – і як тільки море відступало, вони могли потрапити до абатства. І навпаки – коли вода заповняла все навкруги, мешканці Мон-Сен-Мішель буквально ставали відірваними від усього світу. NOTES FOR TRAVELLERS

Getting there By train: Take the TGV train from Montparnasse station in Paris to Rennes, and then take a bus to Mont Saint-Michel, or take a train from Saint-Lazare station to Caen, then go to Pontorson by train and from there take a bus to Mont SaintMichel. By car: Take the A13 motorway and drive about 400 km from Paris to Caen, then turn onto the A84 road to Mont Saint-Michel, or use motorways A10 – A11 – A81 through Chartres and Rennes. ACCOMMODATION Inside the abbey, there are many hotels to suit every taste and price range. The best hotel to choose would be the one on the outside of Grande Rue, with a room that has a view of the bay and a room located on the fourth floor at its lowest point. It will probably turn out to be more expensive, but you’ll catch the most spectacular moments of the rising tide. An additional bonus includes the opportunity to stroll along the nocturnal Grande Rue without the crowds of tourists. The price range is €50-180 per person per night, breakfast is €14-15. The accommodation in hotels outside the abbey will be a bit cheaper (€48-120 per person per night, breakfast for €8-10) and will give you the opportunity to admire the views of the island day and night. An online list of hotels can be found at ot-montsaintmichel.com/hotels. FOOD & MEALS There are no grocery stores on the island – and you can buy only water inside the abbey. During the day, you can enjoy a snack on the streets with sandwiches, pancakes or waffles. In the evening, restaurants are the only place to eat. A lunch starts at €15. The most famous place to eat is La Mère Poulard, a hotel-restaurant that opened in 1888 (Grande Rue 18; merepoulard.com; accommodation costs € 170-405 per person per day). USEFUL TIPS 1. Autumn is the best time to visit Mont Saint-Michel; at this time, the weather stays relatively pleasant, and the crazy rush of tourists has receded somewhat after the summer. 2. When climbing the rock, make sure to take some warm clothing and a hooded raincoat with you – the weather here changes rather often. Rain is frequent, and using an umbrella against strong winds is useless. 3. Before the trip, make sure to check the tides calendar on the official website of the abbey, ot-montsaintmichel.com. We recommend visiting the island when tides are highest. 4. Be sure to get into the abbey queue early in the morning. Firstly, you will have to wait a lot less than in the afternoon, and secondly, the flow of tourists won’t yet cover all the interior of the building. The abbey is open daily from 9:30 to 18:00, between 1 September to 30 April (except 25 December, 1 January and 1 May). 5. If you come by car, avoid leaving it at the lower parking lot, because in case of high tides it will end up under water.

Victor Hugo once called Mont Saint-Michel a “pyramid in the sea”. Just like the Egyptian pyramids, this enigmatic island is one of the world’s miracles. How dare we argue with this classic writer? J.R.R. Tolkien’s epic fantasy novel, The Lord of the Rings. And it was from Mont Saint-Michel that William the Conqueror launched his campaign against England. During the Hundred Years’ War, the island remained the last French stronghold in Normandy. The abbey has never surrendered to an enemy, even during a siege that lasted thirty years. However, after the French Revolution, the monastery was closed, the last monk expelled and in 1792, this place became a prison, housing the nation’s most dangerous criminals. But those days are long gone – nowadays the castle welcomes all visitors, and serves as a home to monks, tour guides and assistants; fewer than fifty people in total. Only one street leads from the royal gates to the city – Grande Rue, stretching up to the abbey and going past 15-16 th century houses. Numerous restaurants, cafés and hotels have found their place here as well, hosting up to three million tourists every year. So don’t expect much privacy, at least during the day! At night, the noise subsides and the city descends into a mystical atmosphere created by the mist, medieval shadows and the cries of seagulls. A barely noticeable backlight of the stone walls harmoniously complements the individual sounds of bells echoing here and there, getting lost among the waves. PANORAMA № 9 / 2012 / 17

У ресторанах Мон-СенМішель радимо скуштувати традиційні страви нормандської кухні, приправлені сметанним соусом à la normande. Головними гастрономічними дарами регіону вважаються масло, сир та яблука. З останніх готують не лише десерти чи заправку до ягнятини, птиці й риби, але й міцний алкогольний напій. Так уже склалося, що в тутешньому кліматі виноград не виростити, тож люди винайшли інший інгредієнт для звеселяючих напоїв. Ще у XI столітті вікінги зрозуміли, що з яблук та груш можна зробити не тільки джем. Вони першими винайшли рецепт сидру – слабоалкогольного напою, який згодом навчилися дистилювати, перетворивши його на кальвадос. За свою 500-річну історію яблуневий бренді називали і сонцем Нормандії, і рідким бурштином, але справжню славу “напою мрій” приніс Еріх Марія Ремарк. Саме так кальвадос величає Жоан – головна героїня відомого роману “Тріумфальна арка”. З легкої руки письменника про третій (після вина та коньяку) головний алкогольний напій Франції дізналися у всьому світі. A Tide of Joy

What makes Mont Saint-Michel really special is the highest tide in Europe. Indeed, the water level may rise by as much as 10 metres within a day, and during low tide the sea recedes as far as 20 kilometres from the coast, moving at speeds of 20-30 kilometres per hour! During the Middle Ages, this natural phenomenon shrouded Mont Saint-Michel in mysteries and puzzles. For nearly a thousand years, pilgrims passed hundreds of kilometres on this so-called “road to heaven” to pray to Archangel Michael. However, it wasn’t that easy to get to the island, because every day Mont Saint-Michel was partially immersed in water, just like the mythical Atlantis. It meant the monks had to punctually follow the hours of ebbs and flows – as soon as the sea receded, they could safely get to the abbey. On the other hand, when the water flooded everything around, the residents of Mont Saint-Michel literally became cut off from the rest of the world. This problem was solved only in 1879, when a 20-kilometre causeway was constructed. The highest tides visit Mont Saint-Michel 36-48 hours after new and full moons. During the autumn and spring equinox, high water can remain for up to nine hours. That’s when Mont SaintMichel becomes a complete and rocky island. It is quite dangerous to try and walk around the mountain on your own during low tide, because the island is surrounded by loose sand. Rather, it is much safer to sign up for a special tour, and have an experienced guide keep the ground from disappearing under your feet.

The Shadows of Calvados

In this very special place, it would make sense to sample drinks and dishes tested by time. In the restaurants of Mont SaintMichel, we would advise trying the traditional dishes of Norman cuisine, seasoned with cream sauce à la normande. The most famous local foods are butter, cheese and apples. Apples are used not only for making desserts, dressing lamb, poultry and fish, but also to brew strong liquor. Since the local climate does not allow the growing of good grapes, the people had to invent another ingredient to provide for their inebriating potations. Back in the 11th century, the Vikings realised that apples and pears could be used for more than just making jam. They were the first to invent the recipe of apple cider – an alcoholic drink they later learned to distill, turning it into Calvados. This apple brandy gained worldwide fame thanks to Erich Maria Remarque.

Joanne, a character in Remarque’s famous novel, Arch of Triumph, called Calvados the “Drink of Dreams”. Thus, it became known as the third chief liquor (after champagne and cognac) of France. Authentic Calvados is only made in north-western Normandy, where special apple orchards have been grown for centuries for this purpose alone. Today, there are about 9 million trees and 150 varieties of apples found there. Just like cognac or champagne, this “Norman brandy” inherited its name from the place where it’s traditionally made – the Department of Calvados. This ruling was universally agreed upon in 1942, along with the list of places where the authentic drink is made: Calvados, Manche, Orne, Eure, Sarthe and Eure-et-Loir. These are where, according to the ruling, distillers select the smallest apples (to give the drink a more vivid flavour), mix different varieties and experiment with different kinds of oak barrels. After two to ten years of ageing, the drink can finally be served. Normans recommend drinking Calvados for about 40 minutes, complementing it with soft cheeses such as Camembert, Livarot and others of that type. This combination is known as “the Norman hole” (trou normand), because it is said to form a hole in one’s stomach, which then has to be filled by a complete traditional meal, consisting of two appetisers, two hot dishes (fish and meat) and dessert. Normans warn that one should never consume such a generous meal without the help of apple brandy. Should you find yourself savouring Calvados in a cosy local restaurant, the waiter will no doubt tell you that Victor Hugo once called Mont Saint-Michel a “pyramid in the sea”. What he probably meant is that this enigmatic island, just like the Egyptian pyramids, is one of the world’s miracles. However, that would make it the eighth miracle, and only the French think of Mont Saint-Michel in this way. On the other hand, how dare we argue with this classic writer?

According to legend, the original tapas included slices of bread or meat with which sherry drinkers in Andalusian taverns used to cover their glasses between sips, to prevent flies from hovering over. Later, restaurant owners began creating a variety of snacks to serve with sherry. Between 27-30 September, a number of gourmet mini-tours will be held all over the country, so tourists can appreciate the classic combination, “beer – tapas”, and enjoy the atmosphere of a real Spanish feast.

This September, the town will host a Puppet Weekend, which features selected puppet theatres from France and Belgium presenting their work. For two days, children and adults alike will be treated to performances from experienced puppeteers and their marionettes. Some of these shows will take place on the streets, so anyone interested may enjoy this puppet pleasure.

Every year in late September, it draws thousands of visitors from all over the UK and beyond to gleefully down tonnes of the famous Galway oysters. In additional to champagne and wine, seafood aficionados also sample Ireland’s famous Guinness beer, and some authentic Irish sounds add to the jazz music heard at the festival. The Ukrainian banking sector, seriously affected by the global recession and economic downturn, now has a lot of opportunities to offer for investing in distressed debts. According to statistics from the National Bank of Ukraine (the “NBU”), the aggregate amount of non-performing loans in Ukraine reached approx. 76 billion hryvnias in July 2012. In view of the peculiarities of Ukrainian legislation, the following 3 basic structures remain the most common for distressed debt investing: (i) distressed debt acquisition by a Ukrainian factoring company; (ii) acquisition of nonperforming loans (the “NPLs”) by a non-resident SPV, and (iii) NPLs acquisition by a Ukrainian venture fund. Each of the above structures has its pros & cons. In particular: (i) factoring company-related structure is slightly complicated from a regulatory perspective, given that such a company has to perform non-loss-making activity and to maintain a positive net value, (ii) implementation of a non-resident SPV structure requires an indirect consent of the borrower under each specific loan agreement, lack of which may become a deal-breaker if the borrower is not cooperative, and (iii) utilization of a Ukrainian venture fund structure is not entirely straightforward from a legal perspective due to underdeveloped regulations of the National Securities Commission governing the activity of Ukrainian venture funds directed to NPLs acquisition, as well as reluctance of the said regulator to openly endorse distressed debt acquisition by venture funds. In the described legal environment an alternative distressed debts investment structure, recently implemented by several players, deserves special attention. The structure in question can be implemented through entry into a Risk Sharing Agreement by and between a Ukrainian bank-lender and a foreign investor, being the NPLs acquirer. Such a Risk Sharing Agreement normally stipulates assignment of loan receivables only (rather than the assignment of full scope of contractual rights and obligations of the lender, as is the case in a straightforward factoring agreement) to the NPLs investor, for a cash consideration. In the case described, a Ukrainian bank, as the NPLs seller, remains the servicer of the loan portfolio (i.e. continues collection of funds from the borrowers for their further transfer to the NPLs investor). Moreover, the bankseller may also continue implementation of enforcement proceedings for the benefit of the NPLs investor, if the respective terms and conditions are stipulated by the Risk Sharing Agreement.

Investing in Ukrainian Distressed Debts: Legal Issues and Recent Trends. The Ukrainian banking sector, seriously affected by the global recession and economic downturn, has a lot of opportunities to offer for investing in distressed debts. According to the NBU interpretation letters received by a few banks-pathfinders in the Ukrainian market, implementation of the described structure, as an alternative to the straightforward sale of NPLs to a non-resident entity, requiring borrowers’ indirect consent, entails no direct or indirect consent of the debtor, as long as the following conditions are met: (i) receivables only (rather than a full contractual position) are assigned to a foreign investor, and (ii) payment of a cash consideration for the NPLs acquired (i.e. purchase price under the Risk Sharing Agreement) is registered as a foreign investment in accordance with the procedure prescribed by Ukrainian laws. This structure, though not yet sufficiently tested in the market, has a few obvious advantages: (i) it allows foreign investors to invest in Ukrainian distressed debts (through acquiring NPLs receivables) without the consent of the debtor, and (ii) the bank-originator keeps working with the borrowers in the ordinary course (i.e. in the way of collection of payment and recovery of debts through enforcement proceedings) for the further transfer of collected funds to the foreign investor-NPLs acquirer. Needless to say, professional legal advice should be sought in each individual case to properly structure the transaction, obtain the optimal regulatory rulings, and thus mitigate the NBU regulatory and tax risks inherent in such barely tested Risk Sharing Agreement scenarios.

Day One 11:00. Going in Circles

The historic centre of Moscow lies within two famous circular routes – Garden Ring and Boulevard Ring. The latter is a continuous tapestry of ten boulevards stretching nine kilometres, along the lines of a former 18th century fortress wall of the White City. To be precise, this ring does not form a perfect circle, and is interrupted in the south at the Moscow River. Going around the historical centre, Boulevard Ring is the best route to explore the city. We would recommend starting your walk on Gogol Boulevard, leaving time for some interesting places like the Pushkin Museum, for example. 11:30. Art Quarter

Pushkin State Museum of Fine Arts, found at Volkhonka St. 12 (arts-museum.ru), celebrates its 100 th anniversary in 2012, so it makes perfect sense to visit the so-called Russian Louvre. In honour of its anniversary, the museum is exhibiting an unprecedented number of its collections, allowing visitors to experience world renowned paintings, sculptures, graphic and decorative art masterpieces from antiquity to present day. The halls hold original Ancient Greek exhibits, as well as collections of paintings by 17th century Dutch painters, French Impressionists and Post-Impressionists, the Engravings and Drawings Cabinet and finally, the Private Collections Museum, which constitutes the exhibition’s core.

16:30. Never Talk to Strangers

Patriarch Ponds became widely known after a famous reference in Mikhail Bulgakov’s, The Master and Margarita. This is where literary bureaucrat Berlioz and poet Ivan Bezdomny met Woland, and where Anna quite unfortunately spilled oil on the tram tracks. Recently, a mock road sign depicting the characters was set near the ponds, jokingly prohibiting talking to strangers. A monument to the famous Russian fable writer, Ivan Krylov, was built in the nearby park. This epic author sits surrounded by the twelve characters of his most famous works, including the crow with cheese, the monkey with a mirror and the miniature dog Moska.

13:30. The Moscow Triangle

Leaving Gogol Boulevard, you find Arbat Street. Although usually crowded with tourists, the street is also a refuge for the capital’s actors, writers, artists and musicians. Be sure to visit such cult locations as the Vakhtangov Theatre (Arbat St. 26) and the Viktor Tsoi Memorial Wall (Arbat St. 37), and don’t forget the Alexander Pushkin Memorial Apartment at Arbat (Arbat St. 53), museum houses of Marina Tsvetaeva (Borisoblebsky Lane 6) and Mikhail Lermontov (Malaya Molchanovka St. 2). When you’re done with the sightseeing, be sure to visit the Prague restaurant. Established in 1872, it is one of the oldest in the entire city (Arbat St. 2/1; praga.ru).

Your next stop down Boulevard Ring is a true landmark of Moscow Modernism – the mansion of entrepreneur and philanthropist Ryabushynsky, built in 1902 by famous architect Franz Shekhtel (Malaya Nikitskaya St. 6/2). The creative genius of the architect unquestionably deserves praise: an incredible harmony of forms and curves, bricks and paintings… Even the mansion’s fence expresses the dynamic flow of life. Inside, virtually everything is captivating; starting with the door handles to the fantastic marble stairs, with handrails resembling wave ridges. The house also contains the museumapartment of Maxim Gorky, who settled here after his return from Italy and spent his last years. You have a wonderful opportunity to see this architectural masterpiece and visit one of the homes of this famous writer free of charge from Wednesday to Sunday until 17:00.

18:00. The Bohemian Clean Ponds

Бульварне кільце відоме ще однією водоймою – Чистим ставком. Важко повірити, що до 1703 року це було болото, куди скидали обрізки з м’ясних лавок і боєнь... На початку XVIII століття місцина стала частиною маєтності князя Олександра Меньшикова, ставок був вичищений і відтоді називається Чистим, або Чистими ставками. З 1990-х років Чисті ставки стали культовим “тусовочним” місцем Москви, де збирається богема і шанувальники альтернативної музики. Гуляючи Чистопрудним бульваром, уздовж маєтків XVIII-XIX століть, зверніть увагу на сучасну споруду по вулиці Машкова, 1/11, – Дім-яйце. Чотириповерховий особняк у формі яйця Фаберже, зведений у 2000 році, деякі фахівці вважають зразком “лужковської архітектури”.

Після вдалої вечірки саме час відвідати Красну площу, яка особливо фотогенічно виглядає при світлі ліхтарів. Вільне від забудови місце біля Кремля утворилося з оборонних міркувань, щоб ворог не міг підійти непомітно, а також щоб стримувати вогонь під час можливих пожеж. Згодом територія “обросла” соборами, маєтками і торговими рядами, а саму площу назвали Красною, тобто гарною чи головною. Архітектурний ансамбль Красної площі складають Кремль, Собор Василя Блаженного, Історичний музей, Мавзолей В. І. Леніна і будівля торгового дому “ГУМ”, яка вночі запалюється золотистими вогниками.

Коли у 2004 році приміщення кондитерської фабрики “Красный Октябрь”, заснованої 1867 року, перетворили на модний простір, у колишніх виробничих цехах один за одним почали з’являтися галереї, клуби, дизайн-студії та ресторани. Так, навпроти храму Христа Спасителя відкрився Інститут медіа, архітектури та дизайну “Стрєлка” (Берсенєвська набережна, 14, буд. 5а; strelkainstitute.com) з однойменним баром та верандою, а також затишний ресторан Gipsy (Болотна набережна, 3/4, буд. 2).

Патріарші ставки прославилися на весь світ завдяки роману Михайла Булгакова “Майстер і Маргарита”. Саме тут редактор Берліоз і поет Бездомний зустрілися з Воландом, а Аннушка розлила олію. Нещодавно біля водойми встановили дорожній знак із зображенням героїв роману, який жартівливо забороняє розмовляти з незнайомцями. У сквері на Патріарших встановлено також пам’ятник Івану Крилову. Байкар сидить в оточенні дванадцяти героїв його найвідоміших творів, серед яких – ворона з сиром, мавпочка перед дзеркалом та Моська, що гавкала на слона. До слова, не вірте назві і не намагайтеся знайти на території скверу кілька водойм. У XVII столітті за наказом патріарха тут справді було викопано три ставки для розведення риби, але до наших часів зберігся лише один із них.

After a great party, it’s time to visit the Red Square, which looks particularly photogenic when illuminated by night. This spectacular open space, right next to the Kremlin, was formed for defence purposes, so that the enemy could not approach unnoticed, as well as to limit the possible spreading of city fires to the Kremlin. Later, it became home to cathedrals, estates and trade rows, and was subsequently called Krasnaya (in Russian, this word can mean both “red” and “beautiful”). Now, the Red Square’s architectural ensemble consists of the Kremlin, St. Basil’s Cathedral, the Historical Museum, Vladimir Lenin’s Mausoleum and the building of GUM mall, all illuminated in golden lights when the sun sets.

10:30. A Stylish Breakfast

When the Red October confectionery factory, founded in 1867, was turned into a fashion space in 2004, galleries, clubs, design studios and restaurants began to appear one by one in this former manufacturing site. Thus, you will see the Strelka Institute for Media, Architecture and Design (Bersenevskaya Naberezhnaya 14, bldg 5a; strelkainstitute.com) with a bar of the same name and a spacious veranda, as well as a cosy restaurant called Gipsy (Bolotnaya Naberezhnaya 3/4, bldg 2), right in front of the Cathedral of Christ the Saviour.

12:00. Muzeon

Ever since, the ponds have been called “Clean”. Since the 1990s, Clean Ponds have been a cult hangout for Moscow bohemians and alternative music fans. Walking down Chystoprudny Boulevard, you see an unusually modern building right next door to the 18-19 th century estates – the so-called Egg House (Mashkova St. 1/11). This four-storey egg-shaped mansion, built in 2000, is considered by some experts to be a prime example of “Luzhkov architecture”.

20:30. Club Card

The area of Kitay-Gorod is famous for its original restaurants and nightclubs. There, you can enjoy some downtime with regular Muscovites and take in the concerts of local bands in the democratic Chinese Pilot Jao Da club (Lubyansky Lane 25; jao-da.ru). You can also hang out with Moscow hipsters at Solyanka (Solyanka St. 11/6; s-11.ru) or have a great dinner and dance in the creative club-restaurant, Duma (Mokhovaya St. 11, bldg 3V; clubduma.ru).

Opposite Russia’s highest (98m) monument to Peter the Great, you’ll see a park of unusual sculptures with the no-less-unusual name of Muzeon (Krymsky Val 2; muzeon.ru). For the past twenty years, this has been a place of the peaceful coexistence of over 900 metal and stone monuments, the oldest of which date back to the 18th century. It was here that the dismantled Soviet-era sculptures, removed from the city streets and squares after the fall of the Soviet Union, finally found their resting place. Alongside the busts of former leaders, you can find funny sculptures of famous literary and fairytale characters such as Don Quixote, Buratino, Old Mazay and many others.

13:00. Gorky Park

The capital’s most famous park is the park mentioned in the lyrics of the Scorpions’ cult song Wind of Change. Muscovites come to Gorky Park (park-gorkogo.com) to sunbathe on wooden reclining chairs, cycle, roller-skate, play tennis, beach soccer and handball, and even fly in a wind tunnel! On summer nights, you can often see a concert or a movie in this magical setting. The park is proud of its status as a fashionable cultural and artistic space – earlier this year it became home to Daria Zhukova’s Garage Modern Culture Centre (Krymskyi Val St. 9, bldg 45; garageccc.com). 12:00. “Музеон”

Навпроти найвищого (98 м) в Росії пам’ятника Петру І розмістився парк незвичних скульптур “Музеон” (Кримський вал, 2; muzeon.ru). Ось уже двадцять років тут мирно співіснують близько 900 металевих і кам’яних монументів, найстаріші з яких датовані XVIII століттям. Саме сюди після розпаду СРСР перевезли демонтовані скульптури радянської епохи з вулиць і площ Москви. Окрім бюстів колишніх вождів, тут можна знайти кумедні скульптури відомих літературних та казкових героїв – Дон Кіхота, Буратіно, діда Мазая та багатьох інших.

13:00. Парк Горького

Найвідоміший парк столиці оспіваний гуртом Scorpions у культовій пісні Wind of Change. Москвичі приходять до парку Горького (park-gorkogo.com) позасмагати на дерев’яних шезлонгах, покататися на велосипедах і роликах, пограти в теніс, пляжний футбол та гандбол чи й навіть політати в аеродинамічній трубі. Вечорами тут часто влаштовують концерти і кінопокази. Парк пишається статусом модного культурномистецького простору – на початку цього року сюди “переїхав” заснований Дарією Жуковою Центр сучасної культури “Гараж” (вул. Кримський вал, 9, буд. 45; garageccc.com).

15:00. Висока кухня

Головну будівлю Російської академії наук (Ленінський проспект, 32а) видно здалеку. Дві сполучені між собою білі “висотки” увінчують позолочені надбудови, що їх академікигострослови прозвали “мозком науки”. На 22-му поверсі будівлі примостився ресторан Sky Lounge (skylounge.ru), з вікон якого відкривається мальовнича панорама Воробйових гір, Московського державного університету, хмарочосів ділового центру “Москва-сіті” та гострих шпилів Кремля. Важко знайти кращий краєвид для обіду!

16:30. Романтичне Кусково

Розкіш архітектурно-паркового ансамблю XVIII століття вражає. До колишньої заміської резиденції графів Шереметєвих найзручніше дістатися від станції метро “Вихіно”. Окрім палацу, до наших днів тут збереглося близько двадцяти 30 / PANORAMA № 9 / 2012

пам’ятників архітектури та єдиний у Москві французький регулярний парк зі ставками й павільйонами. На території садиби розмістився Державний музей кераміки (kuskovo.ru), зібрання якого вважається одним з найбільших у світі. Справжня гордість музею – унікальна колекція російського фарфору XVIII століття.

19:00. Вище неба

Неповторні краєвиди Москви відкриваються з Останкінської телевежі (tvtower.ru). Найвища споруда Європи (540 м) “нашпигована” антенами і передатчиками головних телеканалів Росії. Телевежа має два оглядових майданчики – закритий (на висоті 337 метри) та відкритий (на висоті 340 метрів). Вони працюють щодня з 10.00 до 20.00, однак на відкритий пускають лише за сприятливих погодних умов. За можливість помилуватися вражаючою панорамою міста доведеться викласти від 850 до 1200 рублів. Конструктор Микола Нікітін спроектував 45-поверхову телевежу за одну ніч, взявши за зразок перевернуту лілію з міцними пелюстками і товстим стеблом. Металева “рослина” розквітла серед мегаполісу в 1967 році.

20:30. Підземка

Потрапляючи до московської підземки (mosmetro.ru, metro.ru), перші станції якої запрацювали 77 років тому, переконуєшся, що й метро може бути розкішним. Вхід на станцію “Київська”, що біля Київського залізничного вокзалу, дуже нагадує паризьке метро, а сама станція схожа на картинну галерею з ілюстраціями на тему “Історія України”. Станцію “Новослобідська” прикрашає величне мозаїчне панно “Мир у всьому світі”. Платформа станції “Арбатська” скидається на вестибюль театру, а “Площа Революції” – на музей, інтер’єр якого щедро декорований мармуром та бронзовими фігурами. До слова, дістатися аеропорту Домодєдово, звідки вилітають рейси МАУ до Києва, найкраще комфортабельним експрес-автобусом від станції метро “Домодєдовська”. І ніякі сумнозвісні московські затори вам не завадять!

The main building of the Russian Academy of Sciences (Leninskiy Ave 32a) can be seen from a distance. These two interconnected, white Sovietstyle “skyscrapers” wear a fancy golden crown which wry academicians jocularly call the building’s “brain”. The building’s 22nd floor houses the Sky Lounge restaurant (skylounge.ru), which offers a picturesque view of Sparrow Hills, Moscow State University, the skyscrapers of Moscow City business centre and the steep pinnacles of the Kremlin. It would be truly difficult to find a better view for lunch!

16:30. Romantic Kuskovo

The opulence of this 18th century architectural park ensemble is nothing short of amazing. The former country residence of Count Sheremetyev is nowadays most conveniently reached by Vykhino metro station. Besides the palace, you will find about twenty preserved monuments of architecture, as well as the only French-style park in Moscow, replete with ponds and pavilions. The estate also houses the State Ceramics Museum (kuskovo.ru), boasting one of the world’s largest collections. The museum is especially proud of its unique collection of 18th century Russian porcelain.

19:00. High in the Sky

Moscow’s Ostankino Television Tower provides unparalleled views of the city (tvtower.ru). Considered Europe’s tallest building (540 m), the tower is literally stuffed with the transmitters and antennas of Russia’s main TV channels. The television tower has two observation decks – a closed one at an altitude of 337 metres, and an open one at 340 metres. They are open to the public from 10.00 to 20.00, the latest only in favourable weather conditions. The chance to admire this impressive view of the city will cost you between 850 to 1200 rubles. Designer and architect Nikolai Nikitin drafted this 45-storey tower in one night, inspired by an upside-down lily with strong petals and a thick stem. The giant metal plant came to blossom amidst the metropolis in 1967.

20:30. The Subway

As you descend into the Moscow subway (mosmetro.ru, metro.ru), the first stations of which were built 77 years ago, you will learn that even the underground may be luxurious. The entrance to Kievskaya station, found at Kievsky railway station, is fairly reminiscent of the Paris metro, and the station’s interior is reminiscent of a picture gallery illustrating the history of Ukraine. Novoslobodskaya station features a great Peace in the World mosaic composition, while the platform of Arbat station looks like a theatre lobby, and Revolution Square station feels like a real museum, lavishly decorated with marble and bronze figures. By the way, the best way to get to Domodedovo Airport, the place of departure for all UIA flights to Kiev, is to take an express bus from Domodedovskaya subway station.

Ми зустрілися з режисером кінострічки Євою Нейман, яка ось уже протягом десяти років мешкає у Берліні, але залишається одним із найкращих авторів українського кіно, чиї фільми здатні прославити нашу країну далеко за її межами Спілкувалася Марина Орєхова “Панорама”: Цікаво, чи в змозі автор передбачити свій тріумф? У вас було передчуття? Єва Нейман: Перемога стала для мене повною несподіванкою! Ми з чоловіком уже збиралися повертатися додому в Берлін, коли мені зателефонували з оргкомітету і попросили затриматися ще на один день і відвідати церемонію. Я навіть не зрозуміла, навіщо. Загалом, нагорода від такого впливового фестивалю – це чудовий старт для картини, а для мене – престиж. Я щиро вдячна усім талановитим людям, які працювали зі мною і довіряли мені. Eva NeYmann This summer, Ukrainian director Eva Neymann was accorded recognition at the Karlovy Vary International Film Festival, one of Europe’s oldest, for her film The House With a Turret, which received the festival’s second most important award, East of the West. This adaptation of a short story by Friedrich Gorenstein shows the misadventures of an eight year-old boy and his sick mother as they wander around war-torn villages during WWII. Panorama: Eva, could you have predicted your victory? Did you have any premonitions? Eva Neymann: My victory came as a complete surprise! My husband and I were almost ready for our trip back to Berlin, when I received a call from the festival’s organising committee. They asked me to stay one more day and attend the ceremony. I had no idea as to why! Being recognised at such an influential festival is a great start for the film, and a real honour for me. I’m really grateful to all of the talented people I worked with for their cooperation and trust. Panorama: Among those people was Friedrich Gorenstein, a famous Russian writer, who gave his blessing to the screening of his two short stories... Eva Neymann: I consider him one of the greatest writers of our time. What impresses me most about Friedrich is his incredible

humanity and eternal longing for human warmth. I’ve been fascinated by these topics ever since I first read Friedrich’s Grandmothers and The House With a Turret in 2001. Since then, I’ve had a very strong desire to adapt them for the screen. Panorama: How did you manage to persuade the writer? He turned down all the requests except for yours… Eva Neymann: I first met Friedrich in Berlin, while studying there at film school. Having read one of his books, I had been trying to get in touch with the author somehow, so I found his phone number in the white pages and just called up. We met the very next day and quickly became friends. Sadly, just six months later, he was gone… In the last months of his life we had met quite a lot and developed a real bond. Friedrich allowed me to adapt his short story Grandmothers, which became the basis of my début film, At the River, in 2007. As for the second story, he advised me not to hurry. I didn’t understand why, but obeyed nonetheless. Now, I’m sure I did the right thing in heeding that advice. “Панорама”: Вас часто називають ученицею Кіри Муратової. Як вас звела доля? Єва Нейман: Ще студенткою я переглянула її стрічку “Довгі проводи”, в яку відразу закохалася і котру й досі вважаю найкращою у доробку Кіри Георгіївни. Минув час, у кіношколі почалася виробнича практика. Я вирішила, що мушу пройти її саме у Муратової. Хоча навіть не знала, в якому місті вона мешкає! Дізналась номер режисерки у міжнародній телефонній довідці й надзвонювала їй упродовж місяця, аж поки, коли вже всі строки спливали, просто сказала їй: “Я виїжджаю в Одесу. Берете мене в знімальну групу?”. Працюючи на зйомках стрічки Муратової “Другорядні люди”, я дізналась, що таке ретельність, пильність, відмова від слова “незручно”. Режисер мусить вміти сказати “ні”. Кіра Георгіївна, звісно, видатна особистість, але назвати себе її ученицею я не можу. Ми все ж надто різні. Та я її дуже люблю й поважаю, і коли приїжджаю до Одеси, телефоную, заходжу в гості. Кіра дуже гостинна ґаздиня. “Панорама”: “Дім з башточкою” знімали в Одесі? Єва Нейман: Здебільшого так. Одеса – фантастичне місто! Я завжди знаходжу там усе, що мені потрібно для фільмування: натуру, акторів, фахівців для зйомок, реквізит… Обожнюю місцевих мешканців, центр міста, вродливих жінок. Тут така атмосфера, що підсвідомо теж прагнеш вдягти щось ошатне, взути підбори… Хочеться бути красивою і жіночною. “Панорама”: Які спогади у вас лишились після зйомок? Єва Нейман: Будете здивовані – перш за все запам’яталось те, що було дуже зимно! Доводилося кутатись у теплі речі, а в них не надто зручно знімати. І так тривало цілих 36 днів! “Панорама”: На які питання про вашу стрічку не любите відповідати? Єва Нейман: Насамперед на питання, про що мій фільм. Гадаю, що достатньо зробила руками, аби ще й звертатися по допомогу до слів. 36 / PANORAMA № 9 / 2012

Panorama: You are often called a disciple of Kira Muratova. How did destiny bring the two of you together? Eva Neymann: As a student, I fell in love with Muratova’s film, The Long Farewell, which I still believe to be her best work. Some time later, the practical experience module began at my film school. I decided that I must do mine with Muratova. But we’d never met; I didn’t even know in which city she lived. So I just found her number through the international telephone service and kept calling her for a month straight – without much success. When the deadline grew closer, I simply told her, “I’m leaving for Odessa now. Will you take me on your crew?” Working on Muratova’s film, Minor People, I learned what diligence, vigilance and rejection of the word “uncomfortable” really mean. A director must be able to say “no”. Of course, she is an outstanding personality, though I can’t really say I’m her disciple – we are very different. But I do love and respect Kira, and every time I’m in Odessa I always call and visit her, she is very hospitable! Panorama: Was The House With a Turret filmed in Odessa? Eva Neymann: Mostly. Odessa is a fantastic city! I always find everything I need for filming there: locations, actors, set professionals, props... I simply adore the locals, the city centre and the beautiful women. The city’s atmosphere just makes you subconsciously seek something elegant to wear… In Odessa, you can’t help but want to look beautiful and feminine. Panorama: What memories do you have after the filming? Eva Neymann: You’ll be surprised, but what I remember most is the extremely cold weather. We had to wrap ourselves up in warm clothes, and it’s not that easy to work in them. We suffered in this way for 36 days straight! Panorama: Is there a question about your movie you don’t enjoy answering? Eva Neymann: There is the question ‘what is my movie about?’. I think I’ve done enough not to recourse to words.

ибираючи напрямок подорожі, ми з дружиною довго вагалися, але зрештою зупинилися на Грузії й анітрохи не пошкодували. Двадцять незабутніх днів, проведених у цій дивовижній країні, за насиченістю враженнями варті року, прожитого вдома. Спортивним туризмом я захоплююся зі студентських років. Навіть з майбутньою дружиною познайомилися в поході і тепер уже 16 років подорожуємо разом. З часом захоплення туризмом і фотографією поєдналися, і метою наших подорожей вже є не спортивні досягнення, а пошук мальовничих місць і цікавих фотосюжетів. Не дивно, що серед туристичних атракцій і курортів Грузії ми вибрали гори, де сподівалися знайти краєвиди, варті художнього фото. У горах Грузії ми зустріли багато туристів з Польщі, Німеччини, Франції, Великої Британії, Ізраїлю, Канади. З невеликими рюкзаками, у спортивному вбранні вони бадьоро крокували гірськими стежками до льодовиків, озер та гірських вершин. Здебільшого це люди інтелектуальної праці і високої культури, які розуміють: до здоров’я і краси треба йти власними ногами і нерідко саме вгору! Серед туристської спільноти ми вирізнялися передусім великими наплічниками. Коли грузини бачили мою красиву струнку дружину із 100-літровим рюкзаком, то цокали язиком і примовляли: “Вах, какой тяжёлый!”. На що Галинка з посмішкою відповідала: “Авжеж, це в мене замість фітнес-центру”. Справа в тім, що наш стиль гірських мандрівок дещо відрізняється від модного нині трекінгу. 38 / PANORAMA № 9 / 2012

Більшість туристів зупиняються на ночівлю у комфортних готелях і після сніданку вирушають на кілька годин у гори. Ми ж обираємо для ночівлі в наметі мальовничі куточки, де найкращі знімки вдасться зробити вранці і ввечері, тоді як інші туристи з маленькими рюкзаками змушені спускатися вниз, до цивілізації. Наш намет під Казбеком посеред літа засипало снігом, ми пережили грозу на висоті майже 3000 метрів над рівнем моря, після якої з’явилася грандіозна веселка, а сонце, сідаючи, забарвлювало засніжені вершини теплим багрянцем. Вранці долину засотували хмари, а ми дивилися на них згори. Як дарунок долі, до нашого намету прийшов табун коней, і їхні постаті на тлі білих вершин відбивалися в гірському озері.

Ukraine International Airlines was one of the partners of this photo contest, so the winner was presented with a certificate for two tickets to any UIA destination. iven such a wide choice, it was quite difficult to set our minds on one particular destination. Finally, my wife and I opted for Georgia, and not for a moment did we regret choosing this marvellous country! These twenty unforgettable days were worth an entire year at home. I’ve been a fan of sports tourism ever since my student years. In fact, I even met my better half on a hiking trip 16 years ago, and now my wife is my best travel companion. We share a passion for travelling and photography, and later became more interested in picturesque places and interesting subjects than sports. It came as no surprise then, that from all Georgian landmarks we both chose its mountains, from where we hoped to find places providing real photo-taking potential. In the mountains, we met a lot of tourists from Poland, Germany, France, the United Kingdom, Israel and Canada. With most of them sporting day-backpacks, they walked their way to glaciers, lakes and mountain peaks. For the most part, these are people of intellectual occupation, who understand you reap the mental and physical rewards of reaching your goals on your own two feet.

In contrast to most travellers, we wore big backpacks. When Georgians saw my beautiful, slim wife walking with her 100-litre backpack, they clicked their tongues, saying, “wow, it must be heavy!” To this my Halynka, smilingly, responded, “This is my alternative to fitness clubs.” You see, our style of walking in the mountains differs a bit from the now popular trekking. Ми вміємо створити комфорт на природі. Наш намет, легкий і просторий, здатен кілька днів протистояти негоді. Місце для нього вибираємо дуже прискіпливо. Це має бути рівна галявина поряд з гірською річкою, струмком або озером і мальовничим краєвидом. Для приготування їжі користуємося газовим пальником. Двох півкілограмових балончиків газу вистачає для приготування їжі упродовж 16 днів. Збільшивши вагу рюкзаків на 1,5-2 кілограми, ми дозволяємо собі харчуватися свіжими овочами і фруктами замість концентратів і свіжим лавашем замість сухарів. Окрім того, у моєму рюкзаку вміщуються 5 кілограмів фотоапаратури і компактний нетбук, який за дощової погоди служить нам домашнім (точніше, наметовим) кінотеатром. Наша подорож складалася з двох частин – регіон біля гори Казбек і Сванетія. Хоча обидва краї є гірськими і мають багато спільного, було цікаво зауважувати численні відмінності у звичаях, традиціях, архітектурі, навіть кулінарії горців. Наприклад, улюблений грузинами сир у кожної господині має свій смак, а сулугуні, яким славиться Сванетія, взагалі не варять у Хевсуреті. В усіх гірських селах ми зустрічали башти, залишки оборонних споруд. У Хевсуреті збереглися середньовічні міста-фортеці: знамените Шатілі, кандидат на внесення до списку Всесвітньої спадщини ЮНЕСКО, і не менш цікава, хоч і маловідома фортеця в Муцо. При цьому прийоми будівництва і архітектура фортифікаційних споруд у кожній долині свої. Однак усім грузинам, яких нам довелося зустріти в горах, притаманні неперевершена гостинність, відкритість і доброзичливість. А коли вони дізнавалися, що ми з України, доброзичливість переростала у щиру любов. У відповідь незмінно лунало “Вы наши братья!”, і туристи з Ізраїлю, країн ЄС чи Північної Америки могли хіба що позаздрити тій особливій увазі, яку до нас виявляли. Багато разів нас безплатно підвозили на авто. Не доводилося навіть голосувати. Коли грузини бачили нас із рюкзаками, вони самі зупинялися, пропонували підвезти, часто запрошували в дім, частували неймовірно смачними домашніми стравами. Проте ще приємнішим було спілкування з селянами. У їхніх небагатих домівках панує атмосфера любові і поваги до старших. На світі є чимало країн з більш розвиненим, ніж у Грузії, туристичним бізнесом. Тож людям, які понад усе цінують рівень комфорту та отримання максимальних вигод за мінімальну ціну, Грузія може не видатися ідеальним місцем для відпочинку. Натомість ми ж з дружиною прекрасно відпочили там і тілом, і душею. Радісно усвідомлювати, що на світі ще є такі щирі стосунки між людьми, як у Грузії!

The majority of tourists stay for a night in a comfortable hotel, and head into the mountains for a couple of hours after breakfast. We prefer sleeping in our own tent, then waking up and choosing the most picturesque places to go. There, we shoot our best photos in the early morning and in the late evening, when all others have returned to “civilisation”. Thus, as our tent at the foot of the Kazbegi Mountain was covered with snow in summer, we witnessed a rainstorm at a height of 3,000 metres above sea level, after which a fabulous rainbow appeared in the sky. In the morning, we admired a valley covered by clouds. And then, like a gift of destiny, a herd of horses approached our tent, their gorgeous figures reflected in the mountain lake. We are used to creating comfortable conditions wherever we go. Our light and spacious tent can resist harsh weather conditions for several days at a time. We always do our best to choose the perfect location – a plain clearing, next to a river, spring or lake – boasting great views, of course. We use a gas burner to cook; two containers weighing 500 grammes each is enough for cooking for around 16 days. We are not afraid of adding additional weight to our backpacks, either, taking fresh fruits with us instead of processed, and pitta instead of dried bread. Moreover, in my backpack I always carry photo equipment and a small laptop, which serves as a “tent cinema” when it rains. Our journey this time consisted of two parts – a region near the Kazbegi Mountain and Svaneti. Though both regions are

mountainous and have a lot in common, it was also interesting to notice differences in customs, traditions, architecture and cuisine. Every family has its own recipe for preparing cheese, and Svaneti’s suluguni cheese, for example, is never made in the region of Khevsureti. In all highland villages too, we saw remnants of ancient fortifications. Khevsureti indeed boasts some medieval fortified towns, including the famous Shatili (a UNESCO World Heritage candidate), as well as the lesser known, but equally stunning Mutso Fortress. Despite all these differences, all of the Georgians we met in the highlands were absolutely charming, friendly and hospitable. When they learned that we were from Ukraine, their kindness changed into sincere affection. It seemed to me that tourists from Israel, the European Union and North America were even a little jealous! Local citizens gave us a lift many times; we didn’t even have to stop a car by hand. When Georgians saw us walking with our heavy backpacks, they stopped and offered their help, invited us to their houses, and treated us to a tasty meal. We were really amazed by the atmosphere of love and mutual respect reigning in those homes. There are lots of countries in the world with better-developed tourist industries. That’s why people who prefer luxurious recreation may not consider Georgia the ideal travel destination. But my wife and I had a fabulous trip! It is great to know that there are such sincere and open relationships between people as those found in Georgia! PANORAMA № 9 / 2012 / 41

SVITLANA BEN The beguiling lead-singer of Belarus’s cabaret Serebryanaya Svadba (Silver Wedding) is a frequent guest in Ukraine. For a few years now, her band has been one of the headliners of the Jazz Koktebel music festival. Since forming in 2005, the band has been playing a rousing mix of French chanson, country, folk and Latin American music in street orchestra manner. Люди, які слухають нашу музику, скептично ставляться до усталеного в шоу-бізнесі образу глянцевої красуні. Вони потребують живої, безпосередньої, трішки божевільної людини – такої ж, як вони самі. Театр і кабаре – хуліганський і зухвалий вид мистецтва, інтелектуальний від самого початку. Моє дитинство було чарівним. Я виросла у Вітебську, на батьківщині Марка Шагала. Те місто, яке я застала в дитинстві, дуже схоже на його картини – зелені яри, маленькі похилені будиночки і паркани, відчуття свободи і свіжості... Питання про чоловіків мене не цікавлять. Я міркую над будовою атома і виникненням життя на землі, винаходом електрики й азбуки Морзе, над законами взаємодії між людьми. Чоловік, якому я можу сподобатися, також не цікавиться жінками у загальноприйнятому сенсі. Напевно, його також цікавить щось електричне чи хімічне. Я дуже точно визначила для себе секрет гармонії між жінкою і чоловіком: у жінці дуже багато творчого начала, а в чоловікові – руйнівного. Чим більш творчою є жінка, тим більш руйнівний їй потрібен чоловік, і навпаки. У мене на сцені образ незграбної, смішної і вразливої жінки. Я і в житті така ж. Коли сильно захоплююся

чимось, то повністю віддаюся улюбленій справі. Вірші й оповідання – це раптові пригоди, які час від часу зі мною трапляються. Мені подобається уявляти себе творцем казкового всесвіту, де живуть неймовірні істоти, заломлені через призму побутових фантазій парадокси. Я дуже несерйозно ставлюся до того, що роблю. Торік я випустила диск, який називається “Серцева мускулатура”. Я вперше зважилася на те, щоб мої тексти були надруковані та проілюстровані. People who listen to our music are sceptical towards the image of glossy beauty as established by show business. They need someone vivid, ingenuous and a bit crazy – just like themselves. Theatre and cabaret are rampageous and audacious kinds of art, intellectual from the very beginning. My childhood was magic. I grew up in Vitebsk, the hometown of Marc Chagall. The city I knew as a child resembled his paintings a lot – green ravines, small lopsided houses and fences, a feeling of freedom and freshness… I don’t like answering questions about men. I enjoy thinking about atomic structure and the beginning of life on Earth, about the invention of electricity and dot-anddash, about the laws of interaction among people. A man who may be interested in me is likely the same – he’s not interested in women in the ordinary way, he also likes something electric or chemical. I defined the secret of harmonic relationships between men and women: women have a lot of creativity, while men have a lot of destructivity. The more creative a woman is, the more destructive a man she needs, and vice versa. On stage I portray the image of a clumsy, funny, yet vulnerable woman. In reality, I’m pretty much the same.

When I’m interested in something, I am totally carried away by it. Poems and short stories are unpredictable adventures, which come to me from time to time. I just visualise them already written. This process cannot be analysed, and doesn’t depend on my skills or assiduity. I like to think of myself as the creator of a fairytale world inhabited by fantastical creatures. Whatever I do, I don’t take it seriously. Last year I released a CD entitled Cardiac Muscle. It was the first time that I allowed my texts to be printed and illustrated. With every CD, we added an insert with poems that never became songs.

До альбому увійшли глибокі ліричні пісні, які хочеться слухати в плеєрі на самоті, під снігопадом десь у парку. Вони занурюють у дуже ніжну й особисту атмосферу.

Робота в театрі ляльок – це єдине заняття, якому я присвятила б усе своє життя, якби в ньому так багато

місця не займала музика і поезія. Я кілька років працювала в Білоруському державному театрі ляльок під керівництвом геніального майстра Олексія Лялявського. Цей досвід став мені в пригоді і в професійному, і в особистісному плані. Я додаю театралізовані лялькові номери в наші виступи, даю майстер-класи. Ми – не корпоративний колектив, хоча й любимо грати на весіллях друзів. Нам здається, що своєю містичною назвою ми повинні надихати молоду пару дожити, як мінімум, до срібного весілля. Я люблю все, ну просто все! Мені подобається куховарити, збирати марки, кататися на велосипеді, запускати повітряних зміїв, жонглювати... Я постійно залучаю себе до якихось нових видів діяльності, які привносять у життя новизну.

Завжди з величезною радістю повертаюся до Одеси.

Можливо, я б навіть мріяла там жити. Також дуже люблю Берлін і Варшаву – чудові міста з близькою мені атмосферою. До речі, жодна моя поїздка в Україну не обходиться без купівлі “Київського торта” і цукерок “Корівка” – я їх просто обожнюю. “Жінка-п’явка” – це вічний образ підступної і впевненої в собі красуні, яка без жалю розбиває чоловічі серця. Мені хотілося б, щоб кожна жінка, слухаючи однойменну пісню, могла хоча б частково уявити себе в цій ролі. Деяким людям корисно іноді бувати егоїстами, адже щастя – в умінні знаходити баланс між гуманістичним егоїзмом і зваженим альтруїзмом. Як беззаперечний альтруїст, цією піснею я хотіла якось себе підтримати, тупнути ногою й запхати чоловічі серця у валізу. Я мрію про такі сентиментальні речі, які мені навіть ніяково озвучувати. Я дуже хотіла б мати можливість творити реальні чудеса, по-справжньому неймовірні речі, щоб захистити людей, котрі потерпають від образи, приниження або насильства. Це найболючіше питання, яке мене турбує понад усе на світі!

The album itself is full of deep lyrical songs that you could happily listen to on your MP3-player, alone, during a snowfall somewhere in a park. They plunge you into a very tender and special atmosphere.

Puppetry is the only thing I would dedicate my entire life to, if music and poetry didn’t take so a big place in

it already. For a few years, I worked in the Belarus State Puppet Theatre under the direction of genius master, Oleksiy Lyalyavsky. This experience I used later in both my professional and personal life. I also, on occasion, add theatrical puppet shows into our performances, and give master classes.

We are not a band, which performs at corporate events, yet we enjoy playing at our friends’ weddings.

We think our mystical title encourages young couples to keep on going until their silver anniversary. I go in for anything, simply anything! I like cooking, collecting stamps, cycling, kiting, juggling… I take up new activities all the time; they arouse constant interest in the world around me. I feel great every time I come back to Odessa. I’d probably like to settle down there. I also love Berlin and Warsaw. They are magnificent cities with an atmosphere that makes me feel at peace. By the way, no visit to Ukraine is complete until I buy “Kievsky” cake and “Korivka” sweets, which I simply adore. “A leech-woman” is an eternal image of a perfidious and self-confident beauty, who eats men’s hearts for breakfast. I would like every woman, who listens to our song of the same name, to walk in this beauty’s shoes. Some people need to be egotists once in a while, because happiness lies in the balance between humanistic egoism and well-considered altruism. Being an unconditional altruist, I wanted to support myself with this song, stamp my foot and put men’s hearts into a suitcase. I dream of such sentimental things, I even feel uneasy talking about them. I would like to have the opportunity to do real marvels, to protect people who suffer from offence, humiliation or violence. It’s the most painful question there is, and yet it makes the most sense to me. PANORAMA № 9 / 2012 / 43

сторико-культурний комплекс “Замок Радомисль” невеликий за розмірами, проте легко поєднує кілька історичних “ролей” – фортифікації, давньої мануфактури, музею ікон, парку скульптур, готелю… Споруда знаходиться на Житомирщині на околиці міста Радомишль – стародавнього Мичеська, біля злиття річок Мика й Тетерів. У XIV столітті, після татарських набігів, місто переїхало на протилежний берег Мики й дістало назву Радомисль, Радомишлем його “записали” у 60-х роках ХХ століття.

adomysl Castle is actually rather small, but it easily combines several historical roles – a fortification, a factory, a museum of icons, a sculpture park and a hotel. The building is located on the outskirts of the city Radomyshl, near the confluence of the Myka and Teteriv rivers. In the 14th century, after Tartar invasions, the city moved to the opposite shore of Myka and was named Radomysl; it obtained the name of Radomyshl only in the 1960s.

The Museum and its Muse

Ten months after opening, the Radomysl Castle historical and cultural complex, located in the Zhytomyr region, welcomed its ten thousandth visitor. The castle has become one of Ukraine’s most interesting landmarks, situated on Via Regia, a medieval road running across Europe, from Spain to Ukraine, for almost 2,000 years. This wonderful building is the brainchild of well-known patron, MD and singer Olga Bogomolets. Along with world achievements in medicine, Olga’s vital asset is a unique collection of over 5,000 Ukrainian household icons. In 2007, she decided to find suitable accommodation for this treasure, buying an abandoned old mill in a beautiful location in the town Radomyshl, a hundred kilometres from Kiev. Back then, this place wasn’t that picturesque, as the ruins of the mill just stood in the middle of the city dump. The renovation of the facility began with taking the trash out – more than 60 tonnes of it! When the reconstruction began, it was discovered that the former mill had loopholes instead of windows. It later turned out that the water mill had been built in the beginning of the 20 th century, and took the place of a much older and more interesting building, the paper mill of the Kiev Pechersk Lavra – even replicating its shape. This manufacturing site, protected from enemies, was the oldest in central and eastern Ukraine. This historical fact was not a revelationary discovery of the builders. It’s just that everybody in Radomyshl had forgotten about this unique building. Meanwhile, the glorious past was daily evoked by the modern name of the urban area, Papirnya (Paper Mill).

Минулої осені ця дивна споруда, дітище відомої меценатки, професорки медицини, співачки Ольги Богомолець, зробила справжній прорив в українському музейництві. Насамперед тому, що музей приватний і при цьому дуже успішний. Чи багато в Україні аналогів? На думку відразу ж спадає хатній Музей музичних інструментів Романа Кумлика у Верховині. Але один поверх власної хати – масштаб не той… Нарівні зі світовими здобутками в медицині життєвим надбанням пані Ольги стала унікальна колекція з понад п’яти тисяч українських хатніх ікон. У 2007 році власниця вирішила підшукати для цього скарбу гідне помешкання. Зрештою викупила закинутий старовинний млин у містечку Радомишль, що за сотню кілометрів від Києва. Тоді це місце було не таким мальовничим – руїни млина стояли просто посеред міського смітника. Починати відновлення споруди довелося з вивезення мотлоху – його було понад шістдесят тонн…

Коли починали реконструкцію, раптом виявили, що у колишнього млина чомусь замість вікон – бійниці. Почали “копати глибше” і з’ясували, що водяний млин був збудований на початку ХХ століття на підвалинах значно давнішої та цікавішої споруди – папірні Києво-Печерської лаври. Мануфактура, захищена від ворогів, була найдавнішою в центральній та східній Україні. Цей історичний факт не став відкриттям меценатки та будівельників. Просто в Радомишлі всі забули про унікальну споруду. Тоді як про славне минуле наполегливо нагадувала сучасна назва міського району – Папірня.

Паперова твердиня

Радомисльська мануфактура постачала папір КиєвоПечерській лаврі, друкарня в якій з’явилася не пізніше 1606 року. За свідченням відомого українського письменника й церковного діяча Захарії Копистенського, папірня заснована “коштом немалим на здивування того краю як річ небувала”. 46 / PANORAMA № 9 / 2012

Доти в Україні діяло лише дві типографії – у Львові та Острозі. Цю монополію порушив лаврський архімандрит Єлисей Плетенецький, заснувавши профільне підприємство тут, неподалік Києва. Найдавніше лаврське видання, яке дійшло до наших часів – “Часослов” 1616-го, – був надрукований cаме на аркушах із Радомишля. Не менш ніж упродовж двохсот років тут виробляли папір і сплавляли його до Києва плотами по Миці, Тетереву та Дніпру. З огляду на тодішнє значення книг це підприємство можна вважати осередком релігійного та просвітницького піднесення в Україні. У Радомислі бували і митрополит Київський, Галицький і всієї Русі Йов Борецький, а його наступник Петро Могила, схоже, навіть мав тут резиденцію. Збереглося близько вісімдесят листів, написаних Могилою в Радомислі. Нині Радомисль можна назвати “замком” тільки образно. Споруда справді має фортифікаційні ознаки: міцні цегляні стіни, висока вежа, яку так і хочеться назвати дзвіницею, вузькі бійниці високо над землею… Але жодних мурів! Невже реконструктори не достаралися? А мурів тут ніколи й не було: у непевні часи папірню захищала швидка вода, що оточувала її зусібіч і крутила папероробні машини.

There are over 5,000 icons from the 17-20th centuries on display

Paper Stronghold

The Radomyshl manufactory once supplied paper to Kiev Pechersk Lavra, where a printing house existed by 1606. According to the famous Ukrainian writer and church leader, Zachary Kopystensky, the paper mill was established “at considerable expense, to that land’s marvel, as an unprecedented thing.” At that time, in Ukraine, there were only two printing houses: one in Lvov and the other in Ostrog. This monopoly was toppled by the Lavra’s archimandrite, Elisha Pletenetsky, who founded his enterprise not far from Kiev. The oldest Lavra publication, which has survived until today, is the Book of Hours of 1616, printed on sheets from Radomyshl. For at least two hundred years, the local paper mill was producing paper and floating it to Kiev on rafts down the Myka, Teteriv and Dnipro rivers. Taking into account the value of books then, the enterprise can rightly be considered a centre of religious and educational growth in Ukraine. Radomysl was visited by Metropolitan Bishop of Kiev, Galicia and All Rus’, Job Boretsky, while his successor, Petro Mohyla, seemed to have his residence here. About 80 letters written in Radomysl by Mohyla remain to this day. In truth, a “castle” is only a figure of speech for Radomysl. The building does have some fortification features such as solid brick walls, a high tower and narrow loopholes high above the ground. Yet no walls! Did the renovators just leave them unfinished? Well, no, the walls were just never there. During the Dark Ages, the paper mill was defended by the fast water surrounding it from all sides and turning the paper machines.

The Foundation and its Founders

While speaking of Radomysl Castle, one can’t help but mention its exclusiveness. For example: — This fort-plant-water mill-museum is the only building without foundation in Ukraine. It stands directly on a granite massif, at a depth of at least a kilometre. Waters of the nearby lake show “tongues” of those very granite boulders. — The building contains a chamber concert hall, one of the best in Europe, given its acoustic potential. — And this room, the only such one among world concert halls, even has a natural spring! It served as a water supply for the paper mill staff in case of siege, and now it gives waters of faith and art to guests of the castle. — The only monument in Ukraine situated upon a river is a sculpture of Archimandrite Elisha Pletenetsky in the castle park. — Radomysl Castle is an ever-living and healing place. Two waterfalls from the old dam are believed to fill the air with ions of youth. Beavers and otters inhabit the park pond; plants from the Red List of Ukraine grow here. — The islands and bridges of the park, along with the walls of the castle hide many stone sculptures of Archangel Michael, found on the site of the old paper mill.

The Soul of Ukraine

The main achievement of the castle is unquestionably its sacred images. The Museum of Ukrainian household icons, “The Soul of Ukraine”, is the only one of its kind in the world. The exhibition shows more than five thousand icons from the 17-20 th centuries, and the collection keeps diversifying as more works are restored – now the new Virgin Mary’s room is under construction. In every corner of this place there are many small, ancient sculptures, toys, irons and other antiquities. There are even “wicker amphorae” – Polesia waterproof vases made of sedge according to lost tradition. All the walls of the old interior, including the tower, are covered with icons of professional painters and village craftsmen, Cossack “arks” and Bukovyna folding “trinities” – painted and carved images of wood, glass, stone and metal. — Фортеця-фабрика-млин-музей – єдина в Україні без фундаменту. Вона стоїть безпосередньо на гранітному масиві не менш як кілометрової глибини. З води розташованого поряд озерця виглядають “язики” отих самих гранітів. — Споруда має камерний концертний зал, один із найкращих за своїми акустичними властивостями в Європі. — І цей зал – єдиний у світі з відомих господарям концертних приміщень, – має живе джерело! Воно слугувало працівникам папірні на випадок облоги, а тепер поїтиме животворною водою віри і мистецтва гостей “замку”. — Єдиним в Україні пам’ятником на течії річки є скульптурне зображення архімандрита Єлисея Плетенецького на території “замкового” парку. — “Замок Радомисль” – місце живе й цілюще. Як запевнює Ольга Богомолець, два водоспади зі старої греблі сповнюють повітря “молодильними” іонами. У парковому озерці живуть бобри і видри, ростуть червонокнижні рослини. — На острівцях і містках парку, на стінах “замку” причаїлися численні кам’яні скульптури архістратига Михаїла, знайдені на місці старої папірні.

Душа України

Та головне надбання замку – це святі образи. Музей української домашньої ікони “Душа України” – єдиний такий у світі. В експозиції представлено більш як п’ять тисяч образів XVII–ХХ століть. Колекція поповнюється, твори реставруються, облаштовується новий Богородичний зал. А ще тут по всіх кутках безліч старовинних скульптурок, іграшок, чавунних прасок та інших старожитностей. Є навіть “плетені амфори” – поліські водонепроникні дзбани з осоки, виготовлені за втраченою вже технологією. Геть усі стіни старовинних інтер’єрів, включно з баштою, завішані іконами професійних малярів і сільських умільців, козацькими “ковчегами” та буковинськими складаними “трійцями”, образами писаними й різьбленими, дерев’яними та скляними, з каменю і металу… Образами переважно неканонічними, сказати б – любительськими, але такими, що аж світяться духовністю та доброю енергетикою. Вражає образ Матері Божої, на якому повивальниця різала пуповини новонароджених дітей… А ще – домашні ікони з Карпат, на яких люди власноруч зображали своїх святих покровителів. “Замок Радомисль” має збагачувати людей, показувати їм їхню власну історію, їхню власну душу мандрівників. Певно, це єдиний експонат музею, до якого можна (і треба!) торкатися. Усе це багатство… придбане на барахолках. Тобто представлені тут ікони – виключно безпритульні, позбавлені господарів. “Замок Радомисль” став для них домом. Серед святих образів є й прострілені, і з виколотими очима, й обгорілі в багаттях атеїстів. Пані Ользі дехто й зараз пропонує купити їхню хатню ікону. “У жодному разі! – відповідає меценатка. – Це ж душа дому, оберіг роду, як можете таке продавати?”

Курс на екскурсії

Екскурсії в “замку” проводять лише за попереднім замовленням, бо життя в “аскетичній твердині” доволі насичене. Тут зручно й цікаво проводити концерти, фестивалі, симпозіуми, корпоративні вечірки й весілля (особливо зважаючи на відсутність РАГСу в Радомишлі). Є “Обрядова зала”. Є оформлена старовинними мапами “Трапезна”, страви для якої готують у справжній печі. Є і півтора десятка готельних номерів. Яка романтика для молодят – справжній середньовічний альков і ліжко з балдахіном! Поряд із “замком” плануються лицарські бої і турніри. А ще господарі мріють надати гостям можливість власноруч виготовити той самий радомисльський папір із кропиви та льону! Фундаторка прагне, щоб історико-культурний комплекс жив і діяв самодостатньо і самоокупно. “Але це не бізнеспроект, – запевняє вона. – Його головне завдання – не прибуток. Він має збагачувати людей, показувати їм їхню власну історію, їхню власну душу”.

ЯК ДІСТАТИСЯ МАУ виконує щоденні рейси до Києва з Європи, СНД, Грузії, Ізраїлю та Близького Сходу. Від Києва до Радомишля можна дістатися залізницею, автобусом чи автомобілем. Час у дорозі – близько однієї години.

Radomysl Castle must enrich people; show them their own history and their own souls They are mostly non-canonical, or rather amateur, nevertheless they almost glow with spirituality and positive energy. The sacred image of Our Lady, which had been used as a board to cut umbilical cords by a midwife, particularly strikes the imagination. Additionally, there are homemade icons from the Carpathians, where people honoured their patron saints using their own creations. Those who want a successful trip are recommended not to avoid the roadside rock icon of St. Nicholas, the patron saint of travellers. It’s probably the only museum exhibit which can (and should!) be touched. Surprisingly, almost all of this treasure was purchased at flea markets. It thus means that the icons represented here are ‘homeless’. Now, Radomysl Castle has become their home. Some of the pieces are shot right through; some have holes instead of eyes; some have been charred in fires... Even now, people frequently propose Olga to buy their household icons for her collection; “No way!” the patroness usually responds, “They are the soul of your house, the charm of your family. How could you possibly sell them?”

Head for Tours

Life in the “ascetic stronghold” is very eventful, so you’ll have to make an advance booking for a tour in the castle. It is also a very convenient and interesting place to hold concerts, festivals, symposiums, corporate parties and weddings (especially with the absence of a registry office in Radomyshl). There is a “Ceremony Hall”, and a “Refectory” – where the interior is pasted with old maps and dishes are cooked in a real oven, there are a dozen hotel rooms, and there is even a romantic suite for two just married – a real medieval alcove and a bed with a canopy! Near the castle, you can also find jousting tournaments held frequently. And hosts have the dream of giving their guests the chance to produce their very own Radomysl paper, from nettle and flax fibers! The founder aims for this historic and cultural complex to live and work on its own, and cover its expenses. “This is not a business project. Profit is not its main goal. It must enrich people; show them their own history and their own souls.”

GETTING THERE UIA offers daily flights to Kiev from Europe, the CIS, Georgia, Israel and the Middle East. From Kiev, it is easy to get to Radomyshl by train, bus or car. The journey takes about one hour.

Червоний коридор

При вивезенні резидентами/нерезидентами України суми, що перевищує зазначені норми, але не більш як €10 000 або еквівалента цієї суми в іншій валюті, потрібно заповнювати митну декларацію. Ви маєте заповнити митну декларацію, якщо ввозите в Україну національну валюту в сумі, що перевищує в еквіваленті €10 000 євро, але, згідно з митними правилами, вона не повинна перевищувати тiєї суми в гривнях, що була вивезена раніше з України на законних підставах. Також фізичні особи мають право ввозити і вивозити з України банківські метали вагою не більш як 500 г у вигляді зливків і монет за письмового декларування. Якщо вага банківських металів перевищує 500 г,

фізичні особи мають право вивозити їх за межі України на підставі індивідуальної ліцензії та на умовах письмового декларування. Імміграційні правила. Громадяни ЄС, Швей-

При в’їзді в Україну громадяни Російської Федерації з внутрішніми паспортами мають заповнити імміграційну картку, яку можна отримати в залі прибуття аеропорту “Бориспіль”.
