EDU BLASCO Edu Blasco nació en San Sebastián hace 24 años. Con cuatro años se desplazó junto a su familia a Fuerteventura. Aprendió a nadar casi al mismo tiempo que a andar. Estudia Derecho y sueña con llegar a la política para conseguir todos los logros posibles para el mundo del deporte. Mientras tanto, suma títulos como ser 26 veces campeón de España absoluto, 43 veces medallista estatal absoluto y 33 récords de España. A nivel internacional, ha obtenido siete medallas de bronce con la Selección Española.
¿Cómo fueron sus inicios en la natación? Yo llevaba ya tiempo vinculado a ese mundo porque mi abuelo era mundialista de pesca submarina. En mi casa siempre se había hecho deporte de competición. Empecé a nadar muy pequeño. Antes de los dos años ya estaba metido en el agua. ¿Cómo ha sido 2018 para Edu Blasco? A nivel competitivo muy bien, al igual que 2016 y 2017. Estoy bastante contento. Este 2018 he sido campeón de España por cuarto año consecutivo a nivel absoluto y además he conseguido buenos resultados con la Selección Española. En Subacuática fui séptimo en el Campeonato del Mundo y en Salvamento Deportivo en Australia octavo, pero con la segunda mejor marca del mundo. También estuvo en el Mundial de Aletas en Belgrado, ¿cómo fue la experiencia? Bien. Llegué en un momento de forma complicada. Había estado todo el año compitiendo. Hay que recordar que en 2017 se me juntaron tres campeonatos. En junio estaba compitiendo en el Campeonato de Europa de Polonia, a las dos semanas en los Juegos Mundiales y a los dos meses volvía a competir en el Campeonato de Europa de Salvamento. En 2024 la categoría de Aletas será una modalidad olímpica, ¿se plantea estar en esas Olimpiadas? Yo creo que no hay que plantearse ese tipo de cosas, quedan muchos años. Tengo que tener los pies en el suelo porque ahí reside la humildad. Voy paso a paso. No es un objetivo para mí. Si acabo mi carrera deportiva sin haber ido a unas Olimpiadas no habrá sido un fracaso. .4
¿Cómo afronta 2019? Será complicado. Llevo tres temporadas seguidas prácticamente sin descansar. La Olimpiada hace que las mínimas sean complicadas y se complica todo. y se complica todo. Mi objetivo es volver con las dos selecciones españolas: la de Salvamento y la Subacuática. ¿Cómo consiguió compaginar los estudios de Derecho con ser un deportista de alto nivel? Es imposible compaginarlo. Lo llevo como puedo. La Universidad de Cantabria me está apoyando. ¿Cómo llega al Salvamento y el Socorrismo? Desde muy pequeño era buen nadador. Desde pequeño he destacado en deportes de fuerza y en natación. Soy un poco más bajo que un nadador mundialista, pero soy más pesado, más fuerte, peso 100 kilos y mido 1,85 frente al 1,90 de mis compañeros. Soy más fuerte que rápido. Es un deporte que requiere de una implementación pesada dentro del agua. Es como decir que está hecho para mí. ¿Y a la Subacuática? Eso me viene de mi abuelo materno. El otro día buscando en un baúl de mi abuelo en el garaje, encontré una medalla del año 1968, Campeón de España de las FEDAS y en el 50 aniversario la gané yo. Lo llevo viviendo desde que era pequeño. Para mí esa fundación es especial. Si no lo dejé en su día es por el recuerdo que tenía de mi abuelo. Y menos mal que no lo dejé porque ahora resulta que es olímpico. ¿Qué retos tiene por delante? Tengo el reto de los medios de comunicación. Todos los deportistas que no somos futbolistas tenemos un problema con el tema de los medios. Estoy intentando

El otro reto, al que yo llamo el plan B, es qué voy a hacer después del deporte. Voy a vincular mis estudios al deporte a través de la Marina Mercante y Salvamento Marítimo. Me gustaría también dedicarme a nivel político al deporte. Creo que no se están haciendo las cosas bien. Se ponen muchas excusas y se apela a que no es rentable, pero eso ha de cambiar. Creo que puedo ayudar mucho más a los nadadores y a los deportistas desde dentro que como externo. ¿Cómo ve el apoyo que se da en la isla a los deportistas? Demencial, pero en todo. Creo que las cosas se están haciendo mal por muchos motivos. Desde políticos que no hacen lo que tienen que hacer, financiación que no llega, hasta la poca implicación social… Creo que la gente en Fuerteventura tiene que tomar conciencia en ese sentido. Hay ciertos aspectos, entre ellos el deporte, que no se están haciendo bien como tener una piscina cerrada. Hemos tenido equipos de atletismo de División de Honor, nadadores que están en el centro de rendimiento y ganando medallas con la Selección Española y estamos todos fuera. Nos preocupamos mucho por el deporte base pero luego no somos capaces de hacer que se quede ninguno aquí cuando somos los principales promotores de la isla. ¿Y cómo ve la cantera? Posiblemente Fuerteventura sea la isla que más deportistas buenos saca con respecto a su infraestructura y capacidad. Es sorprendente como aquí sin nada podemos tener tanta gente buena fuera en deportes tan dispares como el atletismo o la natación.
Edu Blasco was born in San Sebastián 24 years ago. When he was four, he moved to Fuerteventura with his family. He learnt to swim and walk almost at the same time. He’s studying Law and he dreams of becoming a politician to achieve as much as possible for the world of sports. Meanwhile he’s been 26 times a champion in Spain at senior level, 43 times a senior medallist in Spain and he’s also broken 33 records in Spain. At an international level he’s been awarded seven bronze medals with the Spanish Team.
By Eloy Vera How was your start in the world of swimming? I’ve been related to this world for a long time because my grand-father was a world champion in underwater. At home we’ve always practised sports, competitive sports. I started swimming when I was very young, before becoming two I was already in the water. What has 2018 been like for Edu Blasco? As far as competition is concerned, very good, just like 2016 and 2017. I’m quite happy. In 2018 I’ve been a Spanish champion for the fourth year in a row in the senior category, and I’ve also got good marks with the Spanish team. I’ve got the seventh position in underwater, and the eighth one in saving and rescue in Australia, but the second best mark in the world. You were also in the world championship of Fin-swimming in Belgrade, what was the experience like? Good. I got there in a complicated way. I had spent the whole year competing. I must point out that in 2017 I took part in three championships. In June I was in the European Championship in Poland; two weeks later, in the World Games, and two months later I was again taking part in European Saving and Rescue Championship. In 2024 Fin-swimming will be an Olympic discipline, do you intend to take part in those Olympic Games? I think I mustn’t think of that now; there are many years ahead and I need to keep my feet on the ground because there is where humbleness lies. I’m walking step by step. This isn’t a target for me. If I finish my sport career without having taken part in any Olympic Games I won’t consider it a failure. How do you face 2019? It’ll be hard. I haven’t had a rest for three seasons in a row. The Olympics make the entry standards harder to achieve and
everything gets more and more difficult. My aim is to go back to the two Spanish teams: Rescue and Saving, and Underwater. How did you manage to combine your Law studies and being a high-ranking athlete? It’s impossible to combine. I do my best. The University of Cantabria is supporting me.
«I MUST KEEP MY FEET ON THE GROUND BECAUSE THERE IS WHERE HUMBLENESS LIES» How did you get to Saving and Rescue? I’ve been a good swimmer since I was very young. Since then I’ve stood out in swimming and strength sports. I’m a bit shorter than an Olympic swimmer but I’m also stronger and heavier. I weight 100 kg and I’m 1’85 ms long against the average 1,90 ms. I’m stronger rather than quicker. This is a sport that needs strong implementation in the water. We could say It’s been tailored for me. And what about Underwater? This comes from my grand-father on my mother’s side. Recently I’ve found a medal in my grand-fa’s trunk from 1968, Spanish champion in FEDAS, and I also have the one of the 50th anniversary, which I won. I’ve been in this world since I was a child. This Foundation is special to me. I’ve never left it because
it reminds me of my grand-fa, and I was lucky not to leave it because now It has become an olympic discipline. What challenges do you have ahead? The challenge of the media. All the athletes that aren’t football players have a problem with the media. I’m trying to break that barrier that other Olympic mates haven’t managed to break. My second challenge is what I’m going to do after my sport career. I’m going to redirect my sport education to Merchant Navy and Maritime Saving and Rescue. I’d also love to devote to sports at a political level. I don’t think it’s being managed in the right way. They are giving many excuses claiming that it isn’t profitable, but I think this can be changed. I think I could help swimmers and athletes much more inside than outside policy. How do you consider the support athletes are getting in the island? Ridiculous, but in every respect. I think things aren’t working as they should for many reasons. Starting from politicians, who aren’t doing what they should (no funding is reaching us) to social commitment… I think there are people in Fuerteventura that should become aware of this. There are some aspects, sports among them, which aren’t being taken care of, such as having a closed pool. We’ve had first division teams, swimmers in the high-performance centre, winning medals for the Spanish Team, and we’re all away. We worry about grass-roots sport but then we can’t make any of the athletes stay here considering we are the main promoters of the island. And what about the team? Fuerteventura is possibly the island with the best athletes considering infrastructure and technical capacity. It’s amazing that, having nothing, we can have so many good athletes away from here in so diverse sports like athletics or swimming.

Una de nuestras deportistas más internacionales, ejemplo de superación, una majorera que deja el nombre de la isla bien alto en todas las competiciones en las que participa, hablamos con Julia Castro, subcampeona del mundo de Kite Park League 2018 y 3 veces campeona de España de Wakeboard. Solo durante el año 2018 Julia visitó 12 países, compitiendo y entrenando; una atleta de alto rendimiento que comenzó a dar sus primeros pasos en estos deportes en el año 2011, aquí, en su Fuerteventura natal, isla que adora.

Te entrevistamos hace años, cuando empezabas a dar tus primeros pasos en el mundo del kite, ahora eres toda una campeona con mucha experiencia, viajas muchísimo y te embarcas en todas las competiciones que puedes, ¿cómo ha cambiado tu vida? ¿cómo financias todos estos viajes y campeonatos, ayudas, sponsors? ¡Ha cambiado muchísimo! Empecé con 18 años, haciendo auto stop para ir a la playa para hacer kite; por supuesto no viajaba porque no tenía dinero. Poco a poco fui haciendo trabajitos, a parte de los estudios, y empecé a viajar pero de la manera más low cost posible. Mi primera cometa la compré de segunda mano gracias a la ayuda de mi familia y el resto del equipo era prestado. En este aspecto, lo llegue a pasar mal, pero era mi opción para llegar a donde estoy ahora. Tuve la gran suerte de que el distribuidor de North (ahora Duotone) en España (WET Tarifa) me patrocinó al año y medio de empezar. Aparte tengo que admitir que tengo una virtud, se convertir un producto, una persona o una historia en algo interesante para el público. Esta virtud me ayudó mucho en mi carrera deportiva. Me di cuenta de que tenía una historia bonita y diferente, y la conté a través de las redes sociales (que tanto quiero y odio a la vez). Así, con mucho esfuerzo, llegaron los patrocinadores. Con un objetivo claro, he
luchado y he seguido mi camino a pesar de todo. ¡Y sí, todo ha cambiado! Solo durante el 2018 cogí ¡60 aviones! Actualmente compagino las competiciones y los viajes con un trabajo gestionando las redes sociales de una empresa y cuento también con mis patrocinadores, indispensables para estar donde estoy. En 2019 puedo agradecer al Ayuntamiento de Pájara por apoyarme tanto y creer en mí, a Duotone Kiteboarding Internacional (el mejor material del mercado), a ION (arneses, trajes y accesorios de lujo), a Phonecases3d (carcasas de teléfono con efecto 3d que duran toda la vida), al Patronato de Turismo de Fuerteventura y al Secreto del Sur, con el que siempre cuento cada vez que vuelvo a la isla. Además, estoy apunto de firmar con una marca muy chachi de zapatos: Coquie Shoes. Mi forma de ver la vida ha cambiado. Compito mucho mejor, más tranquila, con más cabeza, aunque aún hay mucho en lo que seguir trabajando. ¿Y a nivel personal? ¿Esta es la vida que siempre has querido tener? Siempre, siempre, siempre, desde que soy bastante pequeña, quise ser deportista profesional, es mi sueño y ¡lo he conseguido! Pero siento que viajo mucho, quizá demasiado, y no paso todo el tiempo que quiero con mi familia, so-www.vacaazul.es-

bre todo con mis hermanos pequeños, solo crecen una vez y creo que es importante estar a su lado. Mucha gente me dice «cómo te puedes quejar con la vida que lleves»; coge el trabajo de tus sueños, hazlo 7 días a la semana, 16 horas al día, ¡igual ya no te gusta tanto al cabo de los años! En 2019 voy a intentar buscar un mejor equilibrio en todo esto y pasar más tiempo en casa. Por supuesto, ¡quiero seguir haciendo lo que me gusta! Empezaste con el Kite, ¿en qué momento te decantas por el Wake y el Kite Park? El wake apareció por casualidad; volviendo del Campeonato de España de Kite me llamó mi amigo Brais y me animó a visitarlo en Almería para probarlo. Además de fliparme, se me dio bien, como muestra 5ª en la Copa del Mundo 2018, 3 veces Campeona de España, 5 veces internacional con España. El Kite Park apareció por necesidad. Tras un accidente entrenando freestyle en Ciudad del Cabo, tuve que operarme el hombro derecho, desde entonces he arras.8
trado molestias y mucho dolor, así que busqué algo que no me causará tanto malestar pero me permitirá seguir practicando kite; esta disciplina es ideal, es prácticamente como el wake, me permite llevar la barra muy cerca de la cadera, así mi hombro no sufre tanto. Echo de menos el freestyle, será mi espinita clavada. Con todo lo que has viajado, tantos países, tantas playas, tantos vientos… ¿Cuál es tu lugar favorito en el mundo? ¡Ahí le das dado al botón de pregunta clave! El primer año que viajé por Brasil, Ciudad del Cabo, Filipinas, y algún que otro sitio más, volví a Fuerteventura y pensé: «Espera un momento, ¡vives en el paraíso!». Siendo de aquí no me daba cuenta de lo especial e increíble que es Fuerteventura; además de las buenas condiciones de viento prácticamente todo el año y la temperatura, aquí no tenemos huracanes, tifones, ni épocas de frío o calor extremo, no nos quedemos sin viento o olas durante meses. ¡En Fuerteventura lo tenemos todo y muchos no nos damos ni cuenta! ¿Mi lugar favorito en el mundo? Le tengo mucho cariño
a Brasil y a Cabo Hatteras (EEUU) pero me quedo con Fuerteventura. ¿Qué proyectos te gustaría desarrollar en Fuerteventura? ¿De los que sí puedo hablar? Me gustaría hacer proyectos visuales, vídeo y foto, sobre Fuerteventura desde un punto de vista un poco especial. También quiero realizar algunos camps, uno solo de chicas en el que haremos mucho más que kite. Y me gustaría seguir colaborando con el Club Hijos del Mar, con las clases de tecnificación a niños de la isla. Test de Duotone por las islas… Y mi proyecto «final»: coger una una furgo e irme a hacer kite por las 8 islas. ¡A ver si tengo tiempo para todo! ¿Cuáles son tus retos para este nuevo año 2019? En 2019 me gustaría pasar más tiempo en la isla, con los míos, y poner en marcha mis proyectos. De momento competiré en el Campeonato del Mundo de Wake (febrero, Argentina), en la 1ª prueba del Campeonato del Mundo de Kite Park (junio, EEUU) y en el Campeonato de Europa de Wake (julio, Polonia).

JULIA CASTRO CHRISTIANSEN 24 AÑOS • MAJORERA
One of our most international athletes, an example of personal growth, an athlete from Fuerteventura that makes a big name of this island in all the competitions she takes part in. We spoke to Julia Castro, a runner up in the world of Kite Park League 2018 and three times Spanish champion in Wakeboard. She visited 12 countries just in 2018, competing and training; she’s a high-ranking athlete that started off in 2011 in her native Fuerteventura, an island she adores. We interviewed you some years ago, when you were just starting off; now you’re a true champion with lots of experience, travel a lot and take part in all the competitions you can. How has your life changed? How can you finance all your trips and championships? Do you get any funding or sponsorships? My life has changed a lot! I started when I was 18, hitch-hiking to the beach to practise kite; of course I couldn’t travel as I had no money. Little by little I started to work temporarily combining these jobs with my studies and then I started to travel, but they were low cost trips. My first kite was second-hand and I got it thanks to the help from my family, and the rest of the equipment was borrowed. In this respect it was really hard, but it was the only option to get to where I am now. I was very lucky to be sponsored by the distributor of North (now Duotone) in Spain (WET Tarif) just one year and a half after starting off. I must admit I have a great virtue: I can see a story, a product, a person… and make it become interesting to the public, a brand…. This virtue has helped me a lot in my career path. I realised I had a beautiful and different story and I told it through the social net (which I so much love and hate at the same time). That way, with lots of effort, sponsors finally appeared. I’ve fought, I’ve had a clear target and I’ve followed my path in spite of everything. And yes, everything has changed! Just in 2018 I caught 60 flights! At present I combine competitions and trips with a job as a manager of the social nets in a company; I also have my sponsors, essential to be where I am now.
In 2019 I can thank the Town Hall of Pájara for supporting me so much and believing in me; to Duotone Kiteboarding International (the best equipment in the market) and to ION (harnesses, suits and luxury complements), to Phonecases3d (long-life lasting 3d effect phone casings), to the Tourist Board in Fuerteventura and Secreto del Sur that always keeps my belly full in Fuerteventura. Moreover, I’m about to enter into an agreement with a very catchy shoes brand: Coquie Shoes. My way of looking at life has changed. I compete much better now, more quietly and sensibly, although there’s still a lot to improve. And how about the personal level? Is this the life you’ve always wanted to have? Definitely. Since I was a child I’ve always wanted to become a professional athlete. This was my dream and I’ve finally got it! But I feel I travel a lot, maybe too much, and I can’t stay as long as I’d like with my family, most of all with my younger brothers. They only grow up once and I think it’s important to be close to them. Many people say: «how can you complain about your life?» Take the job of your dreams, carry it out seven days a week and 16 hours a day; maybe after some years you don’t like it so much! In 2019 I’ll try to look for a balance to spend more time at home. Of course I want to keep doing what I do! Your started off in Kite, When did you decide to opt for Wake and Kite Park? Wake appeared out of coincidence. When I came back from the Spain Kite Championship, a friend called me and encouraged me to visit him in Almería to try it. Apart from loving it I realised I was good at it, as the fifth position in the World Cup 2018, three times a champion in Spain and five times international with Spain prove. Kite Park appeared out of necessity. After an accident training freestyle in Cape Town I had to undergo an operation in my right shoulder; since them I’ve been in lot of pain, so I had to look for another sport which wouldn’t cause so much pain but still let me practise kite. This discipline was ideal; it’s almost like
wake, it allows me to hold the bar very near my hip; that way my shoulder doesn’t suffer so much. I miss freestyle, it’ll be a thorn in my side. After having travelled to so many countries, beaches, winds… What is your favourite place in the world? This has bee a key question! The first year I toured around Brazil, Cape Town, Philippines and some other places I came back to Fuerteventura and thought: «wait a moment, you live in a paradise! As I was from here I couldn’t realise how special and incredible Fuerteventura is: apart from the good conditions of the wind and temperature almost all through the year, here we don’t have hurricanes, typhoons nor extreme cold or hot seasons; we are never deprived of the wind for several months. We have everything in Fuerteventura and most of us don’t even realise! My favourite place in the world? I’m really fond of Brazil and Cape Hatteras (USA), but I prefer Fuerteventura. Which projects would you like to develop in Fuerteventura? The ones I can speak about? I’d like to have visual projects, video and photo, about Fuerteventura from a special point of view. I’d also like to arrange some camps, one just for girls where we’ll do much more than kite. Also, keep cooperating with Hijos del Mar Club, with the technical training for the children in the island. Doutone Test around the islands… and my final project, take a van and go on a tour around the 8 islands to practise kite. Let’s see if I have the time to do all that! What are your challenges for 2019? In 2019 I’d like to spend more time in the island, with my family, and set in motion new projects. To start with I’ll take part in the Wake World Championship (February, Argentina) in the first event of the Kite Park World Championship (June, USA ) and in the Wake European Championship (July, Poland) © Xede Santa

Dedicamos estás páginas al fotógrafo Marcos Amoedo, ganador del concurso Macaroportada 2018, con una preciosa fotografía tomada en el sur de la isla que fue la florida portada del mes de abril.
Años en Fuerteventura: 5 Estudios: Primer curso de un ciclo superior de imagen en Vigo, desde ese momento he viajado en busca de trabajo, manteniéndome en constante formación pero de forma más autodidacta. Trabajos: He trabajado profesionalmente en varios campos del mundo de la imagen; con máquinas de revelado, venta de fotografía, cámara de documental. En Fuerteventura he trabajado también como editor y fotógrafo. Aunque actualmente trabajo de camarero, no quiero que la urgencia por ganar dinero condicione mi manera de hacer foto. Años acumulados como fotógrafo: más de 4 años como fotógrafo profesional, sin contar el tiempo dedicado a trabajos voluntarios para distintas asociaciones y otros proyectos.
Estilo fotográfico: en mi estilo predomina la fotografía de paisaje y naturaleza, aunque soy fotógrafo y editor «todoterreno», eso sí, con un estilo muy técnico y artístico. En realidad no pongo límites a mi creatividad, he hecho books, astrofotografía, fotografía macro, retratos, fotos de carnet, lightpaint, fotografía urbana, de deportes, de eventos, etc. También hago timelapse y vídeo. Proyectos: Actualmente tengo varios en marcha, estoy empezando a exponer y a participar en concursos con fotos, timelapses y vídeos que voy haciendo y editando. Me gustan los proyectos y desafíos originales y diferentes, no habituales como comuniones, bodas, etc. También me gustaría colaborar con otros fotógrafos.

We dedicate these pages to Marcos Amoedo, a photographer and winner of the contest Macaroportada 2018, with a precious photography taken in the south of the island, which was our flowery magazine cover in April. Years in Fuerteventura: 5 Studies: First year of the advanced vocational qualification in Image in Vigo. Since then I’ve been travelling in the search of work, training myself continuously but through self-study. Jobs: I’ve worked in several fields of Image as a professional: with film processors, selling photography, documentary camera. In Fuerteventura, I’ve also worked as an editor and photographer. Although I’m working as a waiter at the moment, I don’t want my urge to earn money to determine my way of taking pictures. Experience as a photographer: over 4 years as a professional
photographer, not taking into account the time I’ve devoted to volunteer jobs for different associations and other projects. Photography style: Landscape and nature predominate in my style, although I’m an all-paths photographer and editor, foor sure, with a very technical and artistic style. To tell the truth, I don’t put any limits to my creativity, I’m made books, star photograph, macrophotograph, portraits, card-size photographs, light paint, urban photograph, sports, events etc. I also make videos and time-lapse photograph. Projects: I’ve got several ongoing projects at present: I’m starting to exhibit pictures and taking part in contests with photograph, video and timelapse I’m making and bringing out. I like original and different projects and challenges, not the usual ones like holy communions, weddings… I also like collaborating with other photographers.

DECáLOGO PARA UN
MUNICIPIO BRILLANTE Con frecuencia nos cruzamos por las calles con basura amontonada, escombros, deshechos de todo tipo tirados de cualquier manera y olores desagradables que ofrecen una imagen deteriorada del entorno. En la mayoría de los casos es fruto del desconocimiento por parte de los ciudadanos y empresas de las normas básicas para mantener el ambiente limpio y cuidado, y en otros es consecuencia de una escasa conciencia social y medioambiental. Para acabar con las malas prácticas, el ayuntamiento de La Oliva ha puesto en marcha una campaña de información y concienciación ciudadana que pretende, básicamente, implicar a vecinas y vecinos para que todos disfrutemos de un municipio más limpio. Porque conociendo y respetando unas sencillas pautas se puede presumir de un municipio brillante.
1. RESIDUOS DOMICILIARIOS La basura corriente se deposita en una bolsa cerrada dentro de los contenedores verdes y respetando los siguientes horarios, para evitar la acumulación y los malos olores: — De octubre a marzo - de 20:00 horas a 2:00 horas. — De abril a septiembre - de 21:00 horas a 2:00 horas.
2. Recogida selectiva / reciclaje El depósito de los deshechos para reciclaje no está sujeto a horarios y se trata de un servicio sólo para particulares. Se depositan así: — Contenedor amarillo: envases ligeros de plástico y tetra-bricks — Contenedor verde: vidrio — Contenedor azul: papel y cartón
3. Enseres El ayuntamiento ofrece un servicio gratuito de recogida de enseres que funciona de la siguiente manera: — Solicitar el servicio con antelación llamando al 900 103 157 — Una vez concertada la cita, depositar los enseres (máximo 5 elementos entre mobiliario, electrodomésticos, colchones…) la noche anterior, a partir de las 21 horas, en los puntos habituales de recogida de basura domiciliaria .14
—L a recogida de enseres se realiza los martes, jueves y sábados.
4. EcoPunto Corralejo Próximamente abrirá sus puertas el EcoPunto de Corralejo, un proyecto piloto que el ayuntamiento está poniendo en marcha para la recogida de Residuos Especiales en un enclave cerca de la ciudad. Al EcoPunto, ubicado en Lomo Francisco a las afueras de Corralejo, se podrán llevar residuos para reciclaje (vidrio, cartón, envases…) aceite, pequeños enseres y electrodomésticos.
5. Pequeños Escombros y Residuos Especiales - Punto Limpio de Lajares El PuntoLimpio de Lajares es un servicio del Cabildo de Fuerteventura para recoger escombros de pequeño tamaño, madera y residuos especiales como los dispositivos electrónicos, electrodomésticos, baterías…etc. Es un servicio gratuito para particulares, abierto de martes a domingo de 9 a 19 horas (cerrado los lunes y festivos). 6. Perros Los dueños de las mascotas son los responsables de limpiar los excrementos y deposiciones. —E xcrementos: Recuerda llevar bolsas cuando salgas a pasear para recoger los excrementos y depositarlo en la papelera más cercana —O rina: Utiliza una botella con agua para rociar y diluir la orina de tu mascota
7. Residuos de Empresas y Comercios Los comerciantes y empresas tienen la obligación de gestionar sus propios residuos y deshechos. — SI: Utilizar los contenedores de materia orgánica, respetando los horarios y trasladando la basura en bolsas cerradas y en un contenedor estanco para evitar el derramamiento de líquidos. — NO: Utilizar los contendores de Recogida Selectiva (reciclaje) ni el Punto Limpio.
Los negocios y comercios deben contar un servicio de gestores autorizados que se encargue de sus residuos tales como el papel, cartón, vidrio, aceite de cocina o residuos industriales. En el caso de empresas que generan residuos de obras, tienen la obligación de gestionar el traslado de los escombros al Complejo Ambiental de Zurita. Infórmate bien en el Departamento de Medio Ambiente del Ayuntamiento de La Oliva. Tel: 928 861 904 (ext. 205)
8. Sanciones Si la conciencia ciudadana y el respeto por el medio ambiente no fueran suficientes razones para cumplir estas sencillas normas, existe una Ordenanza Municipal de Limpieza Urbana y Gestión de Residuos que contempla sanciones de hasta 1.750.000€ por incumplimiento de la normativa al respecto. Tanto la Policía Local como la Guardia Civil (SEPRONA) o los Agentes de Medio Ambiente del Cabildo tienen potestad para denunciar infracciones relacionadas con los residuos o el daño al medioambiente.
9. Incidencias – Línea Verde La Oliva Línea Verde La Oliva es una aplicación móvil para registrar y hacer un seguimiento de las incidencias que se encuentran los vecinos y vecinas del municipio. Funciona de manera muy sencilla, a través de la aplicación se puede enviar una fotografía, una descripción y se localiza de forma automática. El ayuntamiento lo recibe y resuelve la incidencia cuando es su responsabilidad o la deriva a la entidad competente, pero siempre responde. La aplicación está disponible para IOS y Andorid, descárgatela y contribuye a que tengamos el bonito entorno que todos queremos.
10. Denuncias Ciudadanas Todos los ciudadanos y ciudadanas pueden colaborar localizando a los infractores que incumplen la normativa y nos obligan a vivir en un entorno sucio y descuidado. Basta con enviar un correo electrónico que se mantendrá de forma totalmente anónima a la siguiente dirección: unidadmedioambiente@laoliva.es Es fundamental ser conscientes de que la única manera de disfrutar de un entorno en buenas condiciones es a través de la implicación de todos.
Si el esfuerzo es conjunto, un pequeño gesto supondrá un gran cambio.
DECALOGUE FOR A CLEAN AND NEAT MUNICIPALITY We very often come across piled rubbish in the streets, debris, all kind of waste carelessly discarded and stink that offer a deteriorated image of the environment. In most cases this is a consequence of unawareness by citizens and companies of the basic rules to keep the environment clean and neat; in other cases, it’s a consequence of weak social and environmental awareness. To eradicate bad practices, the town hall in La Oliva has set into motion an information and awareness campaign basically aiming to involve the neighbours so we all can enjoy a cleaner municipality. Becoming aware and respecting simple rules we can boast about a bright and shiny municipality.
1. DOMEStIC WAStE Rubbish is usually placed in tied bags inside green bins and respecting the hours to avoid piling up and stink. — From October to March: from 20h00 to 2h00. — From April to September: from 21h00 to 2h00.
2. SELECtIvE WAStE COLLECtION / RECyCLINg Selective waste is not subject to fixed hours and it’s a service just for individuals. This is how we must deposit them: — Yellow bin: light plastic containers and bricks. — Round green bin: glass — Blue bin: paper and cardboard

4. ECOPUNtO CORRALEjO Shortly, EcoPunto Corralejo will open, a pilot project the town hall is setting in motion for the collection of special waste in an area near the town. To this EcoPunto, located in Lomo Francisco, in the outskirts of Corralejo, you’ll be able to take recycling waste (glass, cardboard, containers…), oil, small goods and electrical appliances.

SMALL DEBRIS AND SPECIAL WAStE - RECyCLINg CENtRE IN LAjARES The Recycling Centre in Lajares is a service in the Island Council of Fuerteventura to collect all the small debris, wood and special waste such as electronic devices, electric appliances, batteries… etc. It’s a free service for individuals, open from Tuesday to Sunday from 9h00 to 19h00 (closed on Monday and bank holidays) Telephone: 928 859 049
7. COMPANIES AND BUSINESSES’ WAStE Businessmen and companies have to manage their own waste. THEY CAN: use the organic waste bins, respecting the hours and carry the rubbish in closed bags and in a leak-proof container to avoid liquid spills. THEY CAN’T: use the recycling waste bins or the recycling centre. Find out in the Envrironment Department of La Oliva Town Hall. 928 861 904 (ext. 205) Companies and businesses must have an authorised service of agents in charge of waste such as paper, cardboard, glass, cooking oil or industrial waste. In the case of companies that generate debris, they are compelled to arrange the transfer of this debris to «Complejo Ambiental de Zurita».
8. FINES If self-awareness as citizens and respect for the environment weren’t enough to fulfil these easy rules, there are Municipal Regulations on Urban Cleaning and Waste management which include fines of up to
1.750.000€ for not fulfilling the rules in force. The Local Police and Military Police (SEPRONA) or the Environmental Agents in the Island Council are entitled to report infractions related to waste and environmental damage.
9. INCIDENCES - LíNEA vERDE LA OLIvA Línea Verde La Oliva is a mobile app to register and follow up the incidences found by the neighbours of this municipality. It’s very easy to use it; through this application you can send pictures, a description and it is automatically located. The Town Hall receives it and solves the incidence if it is its responsibility or it refers it to the relevant institution, but it always answers. This App is available for IOS and Android; download it and contribute to getting the pretty environment we all want.
10. CItIzENS’ COMPLAINtS All the citizens can contribute to locate the perpetrators of violations that make us live in a dirty and careless environment. MUJERES DE TIERRA Y SAL
C A S A D E L O S C O R O N E L E S • HASTA EL 9 de mar z o La Casa de los Coroneles de La Oliva acoge, hasta el 9 de marzo, la exposición «Mujeres de tierra y sal» organizada por el Gobierno de Canarias. La protagonista de esta exposición es la mujer majorera trabajadora de principios del siglo XX, mujeres que han trabajado en el campo, tanto en labranza como en el cuidado de animales, caladoras, cesteras... Un recorrido por una parte de la historia de Fuerteventura a través de paneles informativos, reproducciones fotográficas, de imágenes cedidas por particulares e instituciones, y de cinco vídeos protagonizados por 5 mueres que trabajaron en aquella época y que todavía viven y nos cuentan su historia. Ilustrado con piezas de trabajo artesanal como un telar, una máquina de coser, cestas, trillo, esteras, sombreros, molino de mano, así como con la vestimenta tradicional femenina de la época y otros utensilios dignos de admirar. «Mujeres de tierra y sal» es una recreación de la memoria colectiva de las mujeres de la isla y un pretexto para que aprendamos de lo aprendido. Una exposición que transmite las experiencias de vida que compartieron el común de las mujeres de Fuerteventura, trabajando la tierra de sol a sol, recolectando granos, recorriendo la orilla para obtener marisco, sal y carnada, preparando el pescado, el queso o los calados para su venta. Mujeres que recogían cochinilla, orchilla y tomates, mujeres que se embarcaban para irse a lugares lejanos... Y mientras tanto, cuidaban de los suyos, de la comunidad. Sanadoras del cuerpo y del alma mediante la utilización de hierbas e infusiones, agüitas, santiguados, remedios diversos y rituales de sanación. Mujeres que traían la vida al mundo y despedían la muerte, siempre acompañando. «Mujeres de tierra y sal», una exposición de la Asociación Cultural Raíz del Pueblo de La Oliva, en colaboración con el Ayuntamiento de La Oliva, el Ayuntamiento de Puerto del Rosario y el Cabildo de Fuerteventura. .16
«La Casa de los Coroneles», in La Oliva, will be hosting the exhibition, «Mujeres de tierra y sal» up to March 9th, organized by the Government of the Canary Islands. The protagonist of this exhibition is the «majorera» working woman of the beginning of the XX century, who has worked in the land, ploughing and farming, lace knitting, weaving baskets… A tour on a part of Fuerteventura history through notice boards, photographic reproductions, pictures loaned by individuals and institutions, and 5 videos starred by 5 women who worked at that time; they are still alive and tell us their stories. It’s illustrated with pieces of craft-work such as a loom, a sewing machine, baskets, threshing machines, mats, hats, cylinder mills, as well as the traditional feminine clothing of the time and other items worthy of admiration. «Salt and Land Women» is a recreation of the collective memory of the women in the island and an excuse to let us learn what they knew. It’s an exhibition that transfers the experiences of life that the women of Fuerteventura shared, working the land from dawn till dusk, harvesting the grain, working on the shores to get seafood, salt and bait, preparing the fish, the cheese or the knitted lace to sell. Women who used to pick up cochineal,
«orchilla» and tomatoes, women who went on board of a boat to remote places... while they took care of their families, the community. They were body and soul healers through herbs and infusions, water, prayers, several healing remedies and rituals. They were women who brought life to the world and said good-bye to dead people, always accompanying them. «Salt and Land Women», an exhibition by the cultural association «Raíz del Pueblo» in La Oliva, collaborating with the Town Hall in La Oliva, Puerto del Rosario and the Island Council of Fuerteventura.

¿QUÉ CREES QUE TRANSMITE TU CUERPO? PÁRATE UN MOMENTO Y TOMA CONCIENCIA:
Todos sabemos cómo nuestro estado de ánimo se refleja en nuestro cuerpo, en nuestro aspecto físico. Cuando estás triste o alegre… ¡se te nota en la cara! Si te pidiera que describieras a una persona que sufre de depresión, ¿cómo lo harías? Posiblemente me dirías: «cabizbaja, de aspecto desaliñado, espalda encorvada, mirada triste, etc.». ¿Verdad? Pero… ¿Sabías que este nivel de influencia es recíproco? O sea, ¿Sabías que nuestra fisiología también es capaz de alterar nuestras emociones?. Sí sí… eso mismo… tu postura corporal, envía señales a tu cerebro y ejerce una influencia directa sobre tu estado de ánimo.
¿En qué posición colocas tus brazos? ¿Hacia dónde miras cuando caminas? ¿Cómo caminas? ¿En qué posición tiendes a poner tu espalda? ¿Cómo es tu respiración? ¿Cómo es tu sonrisa?

Welcome February! And with it, in this edition of Macaronesia, I would wish to put this proverb into practice: «When life gives you lemons, make lemonade» We all know how our mood reflects on our bodies, on our physical appearance. When you are sad or happy… it can be read on your face! If I asked you to describe a person suffering from depression, how would you do that? You would probably say: «dejected, with a dishevelled appearance, a stooped stance, sad look, etc». Wouldn’t you? But… Did you know that this level of influence is mutual? I mean, did you know that our physiology is also able to alter our emotions? Yes, that’s true… your posture sends signals to your brain and exercises a direct influence on your mood.
WHAT? DON’T YOU BELIEVE ME? LET’S DO A TEST, THEN: Stand up, open your arms, look up (enjoy the good things you have in your life.. la la la, la la la la) and smile. Now in the same position, with your arms open and that same smile, try to get depressed. IT IS NOT POSSIBLE. Your body – and the way you use it – can undoubtedly save you from a depression, but watch out!, because likewise you can fall into one.
WHAT DO YOU THINK YOUR BODY TRANSMITS? STOP FOR A MOMENT AND FOCUS ON THAT: In which position do you place your arms? Where do you look at when you walk? How do you walk?
