La Scarpetta da Mario La Scarpetta da Mario, restaurante italiano de referencia en Corralejo, reabre sus puertas en un nuevo local, amplio y con una decoración exquisita que acompaña a la exquisitez de su gastronomía. Desde hace más de 10 años, Mario, natural de Parma, apuesta por un concepto que a veces perdemos de vista, y es que el cometido final de la comida es el de nutrirnos. Por tanto sus platos, a parte de tener un sabor espectacular, están elaborados de principio a fin, evitando utilizar productos con conservantes y saborizantes artificiales. Aquí les dejamos nuestra experiencia. Un menú digno de «fare la scarpetta!», es decir, de rebañar el plato.
Gambas a la naranja: en un bisque de langostino al brandy y vino-cava, reducido con zumo de naranja natural, y flambeado con Grand Marnier. Orange shrimps: on a brandy prawn bisque and cavawine, reduced with natural orange juice and flambé with Grand Marnier.
Burrata (mozzarella cremosa de búfala), servida sobre lecho de rúcula de granja de Fuerteventura, tomate cherry-perita majorero, vinagreta de miel, vinagre balsámico, aceite de oliva extra virgen y albahaca fresca. La Scarpetta da Mario, excellent Italian restaurant in Corralejo, opens large new premises with exquisite decoration which matches its exquisite gastronomy. For over 10 years Mario, coming from Parma, has chosen a concept that we sometimes forget about: the main purpose of food is to nourish. So, his dishes, apart from having an excellent flavour, are fully elaborate dishes, avoiding preservatives and artificial flavouring. Here we leave our experience, a menu deserving «fare la scarpetta!», that is, to scrape the food out of the dish.

Ravioli a la majorera: pasta fresca casera, rellena de berenjena de temporada, cocinada al horno con soja y ajo en camisa, mezclada con queso fresco de cabra, queso Pecorino y menta. Lo acompaña una sencilla salsa de tomate cherry-perita, con un poco de ajo y albahaca. Majorero ravioli: fresh home-made pasta, stuffed with seasonal aubergine, roasted with soya, garlic in its skin, mixed with fresh goat cheese, Pecorino cheese and mint. It is garnished by a simple sauce made of cherry-perita tomato with a little garlic and basil.
Bavarese de fruta de la pasión, con chocolate rayado: especie de panna cotta, pero con poca nata y mucha presencia de maracuyá, que le da el toque cítrico adecuado. Passion fruit Bavarese with grated chocolate: a kind of panna cotta but with little cream and lots of passion fruit, which gives it the suitable citrus twist.

EMPEZÓ CON BMX Y DESPUÉS BALONCESTO, QUE PRACTICÓ DURANTE 17 AÑOS A NIVEL SEMI-PROFESIONAL, HASTA QUE IRRUMPIÓ EN SU VIDA EL SNOWBOARD Y CON ÉL SE DESATÓ SU PASIÓN POR LOS DEPORTES DE DESLIZAMIENTO AL AIRE LIBRE.
Macaronesia: ¿Cuándo entran en juego los deportes acuáticos en tu vida? Rob: Al practicar el snowboard me enganché por completo a los deportes de tabla, y como los inviernos eran cortos, en cuanto aparecieron los primeros kites en mi zona, allá por el 2000, lo probé y mi vida quedó totalmente marcada. M: ¿Qué modalidad, dentro del mundo del Kite? R: Al principio practicaba freestyle, pero después de una lesión de rodilla que tuve en el 2008, volví a navegar con cuidado y con una tabla de surf clásica, sin footstraps, para no tener miedo a doblarme la rodilla otra vez. De aquella, empecé a coger olas con la cometa y en seguida entendí el potencial que tenía esta modalidad. No volví a utilizar una tabla de KiteSurf clásica nunca más, y me dediqué totalmente al .6
waveriding, donde me encontré muchísimo más en mi sitio, y gracias a que aquí hay olas y vientos de varias direcciones, multitud de spots, y gracias también a la evolución de las cometas específicas para olas, los progresos en mi riding fueron enormes. M: ¿Qué otras pasiones tienes? R: El snowboard, que ha sido mi primer amor y todavía creo que tiene esa magia que no tienen otros deportes extremos (por lo menos de los que he probado). En los últimos años me he vuelto a enganchar, y con muchas ganas, diría, al MountainBike, en particular al Enduro y algo de DownHill. Encaja y se complementa muy bien con el Kite y me ha permitido descubrir otras partes de nuestra isla (y de las otras) que hasta ahora no había visto. Allí arriba, en los volcanes, hay paz, buenas vibraciones, no hay masificación… Solo buen rollo. A parte de

los deportes, me encantan los animales (amo a mi perro Romeo), la buena comida, la música, la fotografía y estar con mi gente. M: ¿Cuándo vienes a Fuerteventura y por qué motivos decides quedarte? R: Vine en el 2005, obviamente por el Kite, y me enamoré. Independientemente de lo buena que es para la práctica de mis deportes, me encantó su naturaleza incontaminada, su gente, nada de caos, paisajes espectaculares, mucha tranquilidad y el ritmo de vida, «al golpito», como dicen aquí. M: ¿A qué te dedicas profesionalmente en la isla? R: Soy ingeniero y trabajo por mi cuenta, en particular en el tratamiento del agua. El agua en las islas es un tema muy importante, por no decir vital. Tengo un equipo de colaboradores muy buenos, nos encanta nuestro trabajo y el hecho de saber que estamos también contribuyendo a preservar este maravilloso planeta. M: ¿Estás patrocinado? R: Sí, y estoy inmensamente agradecido a todos aquellos que me ayudan y me han ayudado a practicar el deporte que amo. Empecé como promotor, a nivel insular, para Flexifoil Kites, gracias a mi gran amigo Marcus, y de allí pasé al equipo International, y también al equipo de testing y desarrollo de las cometas. RideEngine Canarias me dan los mejores arneses que hay en el mercado. Soy Rider también para Mutant Wetsuits, marca Canaria de altísima calidad, grandes personas y amigos. BIG AIR es una de las tiendas más grandes de Italia, de uno de mis amigos/ hermanos, Mario, y no paran de mandarme ropa, accesorios... No tengo ningún compromiso con una marca de tabla en concreto, pero allí también me dejan probar muchas, y muchas se quedan en casa, jejeje... Mis favoritas, KOVEN Surfboards. M: Alguna cosa más que quieras añadir… R: Primero, muchas gracias, me ha encantado compartir mis pasiones y algo de mi vida con ustedes y, por último, me gustaría decirle a toda la gente que viene a esta isla, ya sea de vacaciones o para quedarse a vivir, que la respeten, que se hagan a ella, a su gente, a sus tradiciones y, sobre todo, que la cuiden. Todos vamos a la playa cada día: llevarse la propia basura y también la que está tirada por allí no cuesta nada. Si lo hacemos todos, Fuerteventura va a seguir siendo el paraíso que es. ¡PEACE!
Age: 41 • Origin: Italy Roberto Stortoni, known to all as Rob, is passionate about sports almost since he can remember. He started with BMX and then basketball, which he practised for 17 years at semi-professional level, until snowboarding burst into his life and with it his passion for outdoor sliding sports unleashed.
Macaronesia: When did water sports start to play a role in your life? Rob: When I picked up snowboarding I got completely hooked on board sports, and as the winters were short, when the first kites appeared in my area, back in 2000, I tried it and my life was completely marked. M: Which mode, in the world of Kite? R : At first I practised freestyle, but after a knee injury I had in 2008, I returned to ride carefully with a classic surf board without footstraps, not to be afraid to hurt my knee again. Then I started catching waves with kite and I immediately understood the potential of this modality. I came not to use a classic kiteboard anymore, and I completely dedicated myself to waveriding, where I felt much more at ease, and because here there are waves and winds from various directions, many spots, and thanks to the evolution of specific kites for waves, the progress in my riding was outstanding. M: What other passions do you have? R: snowboard, which has been my first love and I still think it has that magic that other
extreme sports don’t have (at least the ones I’ve tried). In recent years I have got hooked again, and quite strongly I’d say, on MountainBiking, particularly Enduro and some DownHill. It fits and makes a good complement for the Kite and it has allowed me to discover other parts of our island (and others) that I had not seen up to now. Up there, in volcanoes, there is peace, good vibes, no crowds... Only well-being. Besides sports, I love animals (I love my dog Romeo), good food, music, photography and being with my people. M: When did you come to Fuerteventura and why did you decide to stay? R: I came in 2005, obviously because of Kite, and I fell in love. Regardless of how good the island is to practise my sports, I loved its pristine nature, its people, no chaos, spectacular scenery, peace and quiet and a pace of life «al goplito» as they say here. M: What do you do professionally on the island? R: I’m a freelance engineer, dealing particularly with water treatment. The water on the islands is a very important issue, if not vital. I have a very good team of collaborators, we love our job and being aware that we are also helping to preserve this wonderful planet. M: Are you sponsored? A: Yes, and I am immensely grateful to all those who help me and have helped me to practise the sport I love. I started as a promoter, island-wide, for Flexifoil Kites, thanks to my great friend Marcus, and from there I went to the International team, and the team of testing and development of kites. En el mes de abril, el gran planeta Júpiter domina el cielo del Este, cerca de la cola del León. El telescopio nos revela sus bandas oscuras, sistemas de nubes de dimensiones colosales, y sus 4 satélites descubiertos por Galileo hace 4 siglos, que se parecen a un Sistema Solar en miniatura. El mítico cazador, Orión, ya está muy alto en el cielo hacia el sur, siempre acompañado por sus fieles perros y su cortejo de animales, y va arrastrando a las constelaciones que forman el mítico barco Argo, la Popa, la Vela, la Carena y la Brújula, que protagonizan esta bella parte del cielo primaveral, invisible desde la Europa continental. En el Este, las grandes figuras de este mes, Leo y Virgo, nos revelan sus lejanas galaxias, débiles manchitas borrosas que nuestros telescopios consiguen captar a duras penas, debido a las decenas de millones de años luz que nos separan. La Luna brilla en la segunda y tercera semana del mes, así que los que quieran descubrir sus cráteres, sus montes, sus valles y sus mares, no se pierdan la oportunidad de unirse a nosotros en estos días, pero si prefieren las maravillas del Cielo Profundo, el principio o el final del mes son las épocas mas apropiadas. ¡Cielos despejados para todos!
The sky in april April begins with the big planet Jupiter as the king of the Eastern sky, close to the Lion’s tail. A small telescope reveals its dark bands, cloud systems of unbelievable sizes, and its 4 satellites discovered by Galileo, four centuries ago, which seem to represent a Solar System on a smaller scale. The mythical hunter Orion is now very high in the sky, always accompanied by his reliable dogs and his court of animals; they are preceeding the constellations forming the mythical Argo ship, Puppis, Vela, Carina and Pyxis, which own an interesting part of the south sky, not visible from continental Europe. To the East, the protagonists of the Spring sky, Leo and Virgo, show us their incredibly far galaxies, faint blurry spots, that a telescope is hardly able to catch due to their distance. The Moon shines in the second and third week of the month, so if you would like to discover its craters, mountains, valleys and seas, do not miss the opportunity to join us in this period, but if you prefer the Deep Sky, the beginning and the end of the month are the best. I FORO GASTRONÓMICO DE FUERTEVENTURA
Grafca, la empresa pública cartográfica de Canarias, ya incorpora el espacio marino entre Lanzarote y Fuerteventura en su lista de Lugares de Importancia Comunitaria (LIC), dentro del Sistema de Información Geográfica que permite el acceso a las bases cartográficas digitales. A esta información se puede acceder a través del visor IDECanarias (visor.grafcan.es), de forma gratuita. El pasado año fue cuando este espacio recibió la aprobación como LIC de la Red Natura 2000, gracias a especies como la tortuga boba (Caretta caretta), el delfín mular (Tursiops truncatus), y también a los bancos de arena cubiertos permanentemente por agua marina poco profunda y los arrecifes.
Los chefs y propietarios de los mejores restaurantes de la isla majorera se reunieron, el mes pasado, para poner en marcha el proyecto de creación del I Foro Gastronómico de Fuerteventura, previsto para 2017, que tendrá como objetivo potenciar los productos locales, como el queso y la cabra majorera, y facilitar el intercambio de conocimientos entre los profesionales del sector en la isla, para crear una cantera formada en las tendencias más actualizadas, y poder ofrecer, en los restaurantes de la isla, una representación del buen saber culinario y de la tradición gastronómica de Fuerteventura, tanto a turistas como a residentes. La iniciativa está abierta a todos los profesionales que quieran unirse al proyecto.
The SCI representing the marine space between Lanzarote and Fuerteventura in Grafcan Grafca, cartographic public company of the Canary Islands, already incorporates the marine space between Lanzarote and Fuerteventura on its list of Sites of Community Importance (SCI) within the Geographic Information System that enables access to digital map databases. This information can be accessed through the viewfinder IDECanarias (visor. grafcan.es), for free. This space was approved as SCI of Natura network 2000 last year, thanks to species such as the loggerhead turtle (Caretta caretta), the bottlenose dolphin (Tursiops truncatus), and the banks of sand covered by shallow sea waters and reefs.
I Gastronomic Forum Fuerteventura The chefs and owners of the best restaurants on the island of Fuerteventura met last month to launch the project to create the I Gastronomic Forum in Fuerteventura, which will aim to promote local products such as cheese and majorera goat and to help the exchange of knowledge among professionals on the island, to create a team with knowledge about the latest trends, and offer in the restaurants on the island, a representation of good culinary knowledge and gastronomic tradition of Fuerteventura, both for tourists and residents. The initiative is open to all professionals who want to join the project.

Eduardo Blasco, máxima representación del mundo de la natación en Fuerteventura, acaba de ganar 6 medallas en el pasado Campeonato de España de Salvamento y Socorrismo, celebrado en Torrevieja, de las cuales una fue un oro, otra de plata y una de bronce; a parte de los 3 oros que ganó junto con su equipo, el Alcarreño de Salvamento. Con estas victorias, Blasco sigue llevando el listón de la natación majorera bien alto.
Fuerteventura es mucho más que sol y playa, y la nueva guía de ecoturismo, que acaba de editar el Cabildo majorero, y que podrá descargarse próximamente en su web, así lo pone de manifiesto, mostrando el maravilloso interior de la isla, para que lo descubran los casi tres millones de turistas que nos visitan al año. Esta guía se centra en la riqueza natural y cultural de Fuerteventura.

With these victories, Blasco still keeps high standards in majorero swimming.

Fuerteventura presents an «organic-tourism» guide Fuerteventura is much more than sun and beach, and the new «organic-tourism» guide, which the majorero Cabildo has just released and which soon will be downloaded on the council website is a clear evidence, showing the wonderful interior of the island so it can be discovered by the nearly three million tourists who visit us each year. This guide focuses on the natural and cultural wealth of Fuerteventura.
LA TÉCNICA DEL
TATUAJE TRADICIONAL El tatuaje tribal tradicional es la antigua forma de ejecución y representación del tatuaje, arte que se transmitía de generación en generación. En los siglos pasados, el tattoo se aplicaba con el estilo tradicional, a base de instrumentos hechos por materiales naturales que variaban dependiendo del lugar de origen (mango de madera con punta de cualquier elemento afilado: dientes de tiburón, astillas de hueso, concha de tortuga, bambú, espinas, etc...) La propagación del tatuaje era mundial y, según el lugar, cambiaban los símbolos que cada población representaba con el tatuaje, pero los conceptos universales eran, y siguen siendo, fundamentalmente los mismos.
Desde Oceanía, pasando por las Américas, Asia, Europa y África, el arte del tatuaje fue representado por las antiguas civilizaciones en sus diversas formas e interpretaciones, vividas como un ritual sagrado, con el fin de contar, ayudar y proteger a las personas que lo requerían. La figura del tatuador era de suma importancia, reconocido como un «especialista», que gozaba del respeto de los miembros de la tribu. La industria se orienta al aprovechamiento de una sola sal, el cloruro sódico, y desecha todas las demás. Extraordinario para esta pero nefasto para el cuerpo humano, que no puede prescindir del resto de sales. Es evidente que sin sal no podemos vivir. Sin ella no tendríamos ni digestión, ni respiración, ni muchas otras funciones. Los médicos nazis comprobaron, en Dachau, que un ser humano solo puede resistir 12 días si se le alimenta con productos que no contengan absolutamente nada de sal. Y el agua de mar te regala esta sal naturalmente. No necesitas ni siquiera comprar sal (de comprarla, que sea «marina», pero nunca refinada.)
¿Cómo coger el agua del mar? Cuando recojas el agua de mar, que sea lo más profundo posible en zonas sin contaminación ni desagües. Las zonas rocosas, por ejemplo, suelen ser lugares apropiados. Aquí tienes un buen método: CON EL AGUA HASTA LOS HOMBROS, LLENAR EL RECIPIENTE EN LAS RODILLAS. Entra en el mar con el recipiente tapado hasta que el agua te llegue por lo menos a los hombros. Colócalo entre las rodillas, sumergido por tanto a más de medio

metro de profundidad, destápalo y cuando se haya llenado vuelve a taparlo. Al no ser agua ni de la superficie ni del fondo tienes la garantía que has cogido la mejor que tenías a mano. Siguiendo el procedimiento anterior, puedes llenar dos garrafas de 5 litros y utilizarlas durante una buena temporada. Con un cuarto de litro al día, mezclada con agua dulce o caldos vegetales, en proporción 3:1 (es decir, 3 partes de agua dulce por una de agua de mar), es suficiente y puedes estar tomándola todo el tiempo que quieras. El mero hecho de beber agua de mar es ligeramente laxante, así que probablemente el primer día notarás el cambio en tus intestinos. Has de tomarla gradualmente, no un litro de golpe, y rebajada con otros líquidos o alimentos, para que el cuerpo y los riñones se acostumbren poco a poco. Haz caso a tu paladar, él te irá marcando la progresión en la ingesta, cada vez te pedirá más, pero respeta las etapas de adaptación. Queda más que demostrado que el agua de mar es una panacea natural, con tantas propiedades que usar un cuarto de litro diario debería ser, a partir de ahora, un hábito más de salud. ¡Qué aproveche!

The mere fact of drinking seawater is slightly laxative, so probably the first day you will notice the change in your bowels. You must take it gradually, not a litre all at once, and dilute it with other liquids or food so the body and kidneys gradually get used to it. Listen to your palate, it will mark the progression of sea water intake and little by little it will ask for more, but respect the stages of adaptation. It’s been powerfully proven that seawater is a natural remedy, with so many properties that using a quarter litre daily should be, from now on, one more healthy habit! Enjoy it!

Tal circunstancia, junto al carácter pagano del rito, la oportunidad de un encuentro vecinal en un ambiente festivo y probablemente promiscuo, la nocturnidad de las celebraciones y lo prolongado de los actos (a menudo comenzaban antes del parto y se intentaba retrasar la fecha del bautismo, día en que se terminaban los festejos), motivaron que las autoridades eclesiásticas hiciesen todo lo posible por evitar los velorios de paridas. Ya a finales del siglo XVII se establece la orden, desde la sede de Betancuria, de que cesen los festejos porque cuando a algún vecino le nace una criatura, están, por espacio de 15 días, muchas personas, así como mujeres, hombres, niñas y muchachos y mozos, hombres casados y de otros estados, bailando y danzando con mucha descompostura y acciones torpes y deshonestas, que en tratándose y concertándose de casar, por palabras de futuro (…), se juntan y comunican los novios como si fueran marido y mujer, y algunos habitan en su misma casa. Las personas que contravinieran la norma, se arriesgaban a 15 días de cárcel y el pago de dos ducados. Los reincidentes podrían ser excomulgados y procesados judicialmente.
Fuerteventura vivió, durante más de quinientos años, en una situación de dominación social que afectaba a todos los ámbitos vitales. El control monolítico de la mayoría de la población era ejercido por el poder civil, militar y religioso (poderes relacionados en nuestra isla gracias a los vínculos endogámicos), a través de las leyes y la dominación ideológica. ¿Cómo pudo sobrivir la gente en un mundo tan claustrofóbico, sin apenas margen para la felicidad? Afortunadamente, las sociedades, a lo largo de la Historia, han ingeniado estrategias de resistencias, a menudo impreceptibles, para sortear los dominios. A veces esas estrategias parecen inocentes y aprovechan acontecimientos paralelos para evitar las restricciones. Los bailes o velorios de paridas fueron acontecimientos muy populares, con siglos de tradición, en Fuerteventura. Parece que sus orígenes tienen que ver con la congregación de vecinos y vecinas en la casa de la parturienta con el fin de ahuyentar a las brujas. De hecho era común que, a modo de amuleto benefactor, se colocasen las tijeras que habían sido utilizadas para cortar el cordón umbilical, tras la puerta de la habitación, en forma de cruz; aunque también era usual colocarlas bajo la almohada, para evitar que las brujas le hiciesen daño al recién nacido. Pero tal rito fue derivando en un acontecimiento festivo que duraba entre una semana y quince días, y en donde tenía gran importancia la celebración de juegos. Como se comprenderá, la mayoría de ellos forma parte exclusiva del pasado. Todos se jugaban de forma mixta y propiciaban el acercamiento entre géneros y la formación de parejas. Uno de los bailes que acontecían en los velorios de paridas eran los aires de Lima, que se diferencian enormemente de los interpretados en otras islas. En Fuerteventura, los aires de Lima estaban en sintonía con el ambiente festivo, popular y pagano que envolvía a los velorios y otros encuentros similares. Las letras de los aires eran a menudo ofensivas, sarcásticas y con una indisimulada carga sexual. Para añadir más controversia, solían establecerse diálogos pícaros o amorosos entre los hombres y las mujeres. .18
Tal prohibición posiblemente no tuviese mucho efecto, ya que se siguió practicando hasta bien entrado el s. XX, sorteando así las restricciones morales. A las celebraciones de los nacimientos, algo que acontece en toda las culturas, difícilmente se podía oponer de manera rigurosa la Iglesia. Su propia liturgia y sus dogmas proponen las celebraciones motivadas por los nacimientos. Por eso los vecinos y vecinas se ingeniaron la posibilidad de los velorios, obteniendo así un espacio de interrelaciones personales, intergeneracionales e intersexuales, que no podían encontrar en otros escenarios más restrictivos. Al menos, durante esos días, la gente podía reir, jugar y amarse, sin que el poder le ordenase cómo debía hacerlo.
New mums wakes Fuerteventura lived, for over five hundred years, in a situation of social domination that affected all areas of life. The monolithic control of most of the population was exerted by the civil, military and religious power (linked on our island thanks to endogamous relationships) through laws and ideological domination. How could people survive in such a claustrophobic world, with little margin for happiness? Fortunately, societies, all throughout history, have devised strategies of resistance, often imperceptible, to circumvent the laws. Sometimes these strategies seem innocent and take advantage of parallel events to avoid restrictions. Dances or new mums wakes were very popular events, with centuries of tradition, in Fuerteventura. It seems that its origins have to do with the congregation of neighbours in the houses of the women in labour in order to scare off witches. In fact it was common, as a lucky charm, to place the scissors that were used to cut the umbilical cord behind the door of the room, in the shape of cross; although it was also usual to place them under the pillow to prevent witches from hurting the baby. But this ritual was drifting to a festive event that lasted from a week to a fortnight, and holding games was of paramount importance. As you will be understand, most of them belong exclusively to the past. They were all played by men and women and they helped the initial approach between genres and couple formation. One of the dances that were held in the new mums wakes were «Los Aires de Lima» that differ greatly from those danced on other islands. In Fuerteventura «Los Aires de Lima» were in tune with the festive, popular and pagan environment that enveloped wakes and other similar gatherings. The lyrics of «Los Aires» were often offensive, sarcastic and with undisguised sexual burden. To add more controversy they used to hold naughty love dialogues between men and women. This circumstance, together with the pagan character of the ritual, the opportunity for a neighbourhood gathering in a festive and probably promiscuous environment, the nocturnal celebrations and prolonged acts (often beginning before birth and trying to delay the date of baptism , the day when the festivities were over) led the ecclesiastical authorities to make every effort to avoid new mums wake celebrations. Since the late seventeenth century the order is established, from the headquarters of Betancuria, to cease the celebrations because when a woman gave birth to a new creature, many women, men, girls and boys were, for 15 days, dancing with great brazenness and making clumsy and dishonest gestures as they were arranging a future marriage and with that excuse they came together and communicated as if they were husband and wife and some lived in the same house. People who dared brake the rule could be jailed for 15 days and pay a fine of two ducats. Repeat offenders could be excommunicated and prosecuted. Such prohibition may not have had much effect as they continued practising it well into the XX century, circumventing the moral restraints. To the celebrations of births, something that happens in all cultures, the church could hardly oppose firmly. Their own liturgy and its dogmas promote celebrations motivated by births. So the people devised the new mums wakes as a space of interpersonal relations, among different generations and sexes they could not find in other more restrictive settings. At least for those days, people could laugh, play and love without authorities ordering them how to do it.
