This year test compeƟƟons were held: In boxing, judo, volleyball at Baluan Sholak Sport Palace and in December test compeƟƟons will be in ice hockey there. In ski jumping, including the World Cup stage for juniors, at the InternaƟonal Ski Jump. In bandy at Medeu Alpine Ice Arena.


In November – December more test compeƟƟons will be conducted at the sport venues: In ice hockey at Kazakhstan Sport Palace. In speed skaƟng at Indoor Speed-SkaƟng Stadium. In gure skaƟng at NaƟonal Indoor Cycle Arena. In biathlon, skiing, ski orienteering at Soldatskoye Valley Biathlon and Cross-country Skiing Stadium. In freestyle skiing at Tabagan Resort.

CorrecƟons in short-track and speed-skaƟng compeƟƟons. Short-track: 3000 m men distance is replaced by 1000 m. Final version of the program in short-track: 500 m, 1000 m, 1500 m, relay 3000 m – women. 500 m, 1000 m, 1500 m, relay 5000 m – men. Speed-skaƟng: 50 laps mass start women is replaced by 25 laps mass start. 70 laps mass start men is replaced by 35 laps mass start. These are the only changes in the 7th AWG compeƟƟon program.


AWAGOC worked out Games-Ɵme operaƟon command mechanism. Venue managers have been appointed. Sport managers have been nominated. Referees ’ crews, chief referees and technical delegates in sport events/disciplines have been idenƟed.


As per regulaĆ&#x;ons on entries, more than 1500 athletes, coaches and oĸcials to parĆ&#x;cipate in the Astana-Almaty 7th Asian Winter Games, including over 1000 athletes.



There will be 9 doping control staƟons with: 3 doping control staƟons in Astana. 6 doping control staƟons in Almaty. Athletes will be selected for tesƟng: On a random basis. On the basis of taken places. On a purposeful basis. Samples of urine will be taken from 15-20% of all compeƟtors. Samples of blood will be taken from 1-3% of all compeƟtors.

Meals & Catering services will be provided with due consideraƟon for the tastes, religious preferences, and culinary tradiƟons of all parƟcipaƟng countries. Meals will be served 3 Ɵmes a day in the restaurants at the oĸcial hotels. The best hospitals of Astana and Almaty will be involved to ensure highly professional emergency medical aid at the Games. 15 hospitals to provide medical services These hospitals will provide: Full range of emergency diagnosƟcs and treatment. Republican OperaƟve Headquarters (hereinaŌer ROH) was set up to ensure order and security during the Games. Security measures at the venues and main locaƟons of the Games include 24-hour guard regime, staƟonary and mobile guard posts and patrolling.


InspecĆ&#x;ons and security drills were conducted at the venues, hotels and airports. Modern technology and security equipment used.




The work is underway on seƫng the Games management centres, IT and internaƟonal broadcasƟng in the ciƟes of Astana and Almaty. Technical requirements were integrated for informaƟon system (AWGIS), accreditaƟon system (ACR) and host broadcasƟng (HB). SICC in partnership with Swiss Timing has been idenƟed as a provider of IT services. All soŌware for IT systems and the modules are ready. The contract has been signed with Kazakhtelecom, naƟonal telecommunicaƟons operator, on linking up all the venues into a unied network.

The IBC and the MMC will be located at the Almaty Towers mulƟ-funcƟonal complex in Almaty. SICC in partnership with IGBS is nominated as the Host- Broadcaster of the 7th AWG. The work is on full scale on placing TV components at the venues and preparing the sites for broadcasƟng purposes. MeeƟngs were held with the local right holders (Khabar and Kazakhstan TV channels) and the host-broadcaster in Almaty. As per the Master plan with the Host-broadcaster the work is to be completed at targeted dates. The work on equipping the IBC is underway.



AWAGOC together with the host-ciƟes (Astana and Almaty) is on the stage of acƟve implementaƟon of Strategic MarkeƟng Plan in Kazakhstan and abroad. Wide scale promoƟonal campaign, including complex ATL / BTL acƟviƟes has been launched on the territory of Kazakhstan, Central Asia and abroad. BroadcasƟng program is planned for viewers throughout Asia and in Europe. Host-ciƟes (Astana and Almaty) are acƟvely working on decoraƟon of 10 reconstructed and brand new built sports venues as well as ciƟes ’ appearance design. Licensing (merchandising) program is in progress on the market of Kazakhstan.



Over 20 sponsors have been granted with sponsorship rights according to the launched Sponsorship Program. Sponsor ’s rights and intellectual property rights of the 7th Asian Winter Games are under protecƟon of the Intellectual Property ProtecƟon Program, including anƟ-ambushing markeƟng acƟviƟes. Program including over 270 sports and cultural events has been launched in Kazakhstan and abroad.



3ര500 volunteers will be working during the 7-th Asian Winter Games 2011: 1500 in Astana. 2000 in Almaty. Volunteers will serve in diīerent elds of acƟvity.




Team welcome ceremony will be conducted by the Astana Arena in the city of Astana from 23 to 29 January 2011, from 9.30 to 17.30. Each ceremony will conĆ&#x;nue for about 15 minutes.


The Opening Ceremony is scheduled for 30th January 2011 and will take place at the Astana Arena venue, Astana. The Closing Ceremony will be held at the Baluan Sholak Sport Palace in Almaty on 6th February. The Opening/Closing Ceremonies to be conducted in strict compliance with the OCA Protocol principles. The Opening Ceremony is planned to last 2 hours.


Victory ceremonies will be held on a daily basis. The victory ceremonies will be conducted from 31 January through 6 February 2011.



The Torch Relay of the 7th Asian Winter Games will be a naƟon-wide project. Millions of the people of Kazakhstan will feel their involvement in the Asian Games. Period: 11 January –30 January 2011. Start date of the Flame: (lighƟng the Flame): 11 January, 2011 the OCA headquarters, Kuwait.

DuraƟon and geography: 20 days, 14 regional centres, the ciƟes of Astana and Almaty. 1020 torch bearers will take part in the Torch Relay. In the year 2011 Kazakhstan will mark its 20th year of independence, and the Torch Relay will give a start to bright and wide-scale naƟonal projects of the year.
