We sat down with Aloette Go’s executive chef, Solomon Mason, to talk about his creative process, the importance of ingredients and his top tip for home chefs.

Where do you draw inspiration from when you're working on a new menu item?

FOR FUTURE THE FUTURE FARMING

Do you know where the food you ate at your last meal came from?

If it was from Goodfood, chances are it was supplied by a Canadian producer. And if that Goodfood meal included cherry tomatoes, tomatoes on the vine, sweet bell peppers or Lebanese cucumbers, they were grown by Lakeside Producers in Leamington, Ontario.

Lakeside started as a family farm in 1943 and over the past 80 years, they have grown into an international produce supplier feeding families across North America. We’re proud to have partnered with them through a shared mission to provide nutritious food to Canadian families and to do so sustainably.

It’s a unique partnership that ensures you receive only the freshest local ingredients in your Goodfood box. “The partnership we have with Goodfood allows us to make sure we’re harvesting our produce and having it delivered to customers within three or four days and they get the best eating experience possible,” said Chris Cervini, CEO of Lakeside Producers.

And we’re working together to ensure that you and your family can continue to enjoy meals of the highest quality well into the future, while minimizing our impact on the planet.

“As we are a family business, we want everyone to have family dinners. With our relationship with Goodfood, I believe our shared commitment to sustainability is the only way we can feed Canadian families into the next hundred years.”
CHRIS CERVINI CEO of Lakeside Producers

LAKESIDE SUSTAINABLE PRACTICES

NATURAL POLLINATION

Bees in Lakeside’s greenhouses pollinate their crops naturally. This improves both the quality and yield of the crops.

WATER RECYCLING

Water runoff from crops is collected, purified and then re-used. This saves nearly 78,000,000 litres of water per year.

SUSTAINABLE GOODFOOD

Meal kit delivery generates 33% fewer carbon emissions than shopping at a grocery store. All our boxes, liners and paper bags are recyclable. The ice packs we include in our boxes are reusable. And we’ve set a goal that 100% of our packaging will be either recyclable or compostable in the near future.

SELF-GENERATED POWER

Lakeside generates its own electricity with a cogeneration power station. This creates enough energy to power 7,800 homes.
