Maleny District Sport & Recreation Club Community Newsletter The Show The good news is that the Maleny Show Society is already planning to deliver the 2021 Maleny Show! With less than three months to go before Friday - Saturday May 28 - 29, and with the new Covid Safe Industry Plan tucked under their arms, the Show committee says it needs many more volunteers to be able to comply with the new regulations that are designed to keep everyone safe. Show Secretary Lois White said that they were very encouraged

Must Go

to see other Shows going on already in 2021 and wanted to learn from the organisers of the Stanthorpe, Allora and Clifton Shows that have already been held. “One of the critical elements for 2021 is we need to signi cantly increase the number of volunteers during the Show” said Lois “We need new stewards in the Photography, Cooking, Beef and Woodchop Sections, and de nitely to help on the gate”.

On….. So if you have some hours to donate as a volunteer, please contact Lois as soon as possible via email at malenyshowsociety@bigpond.com

or call the Show Of ce by phone on 54942008. They need you to help them put on a great Show in 2021! This year, all tickets will need to be pre-purchased online before you head out for the 2 days of fun. Continued Next Page

Maleny Cricket 3rd Division Into the Semi Finals!

A huge win by Maleny Cricket Club's 3rd Division over Cooroy-Eumundi will see them heading into the semi nals at home this weekend.

Bowling rst, Maleny were on the front foot early with opening bowler Bailey Jackson claiming 4 for 16. When Jack Williams, 3 for 11, and Jason Weckert, 2 for 3, cleaned up the tail Cooroy-Eumundi were bowled out for 49. On what seemed to be a bowler friendly wicket, the Redbacks were determined to secure rst innings victory. Batting was a touch easier for the Maleny side with the rst wicket falling just short of the winning score. This brought Jason Weckert to the crease who showed class and patience to nish day one on 63no and have Maleny at 6 for 155. Day two saw Weckert continue his batting master class. Making his way along to 97, Weckert brought up his century by dispatching the ball over the boundary. Knowing that a declaration was approaching, Weckert proceeded to administer the same treatment to the next three balls, scoring 24 runs off his last four balls and being 121no when the Redbacks declared at 7 for 223. The Redback bowlers again dominated the CooroyEumundi batting line in their quest for an outright victory. Kyle Jackson was the pick of the bowlers grabbing 4 for 12. He was well supported by Matt Angus and Brock Barry who both claimed 2 wickets. When Cooroy-Eumundi were bowled out for 78, Maleny had secured a win by an innings and 93 runs. The 3rd Division boys now move on to a home semi nal - come along and see what the Redbacks can do at the Maleny Showgrounds this week-end! You can follow them and read more details at their Facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/malenycricketclub
