The spectacular parade featured 30 horses between the three regiments, Red Cross nurses in period uniform, the Salvation Army band and a piper and drummers leading the procession.

Grow a MO for “Movember

Your Club News

Our fathers, partners, brothers and friends are facing a health crisis, yet it’s rarely talked about. Men are dying too young. We can’t afford to stay silent. Men’s health is in crisis. Men are dying on average 5 years earlier than women, and for largely preventable reasons.

If your club or organisation is an associate member of the Maleny District Sports and Recreation Club then you can publicise your club results and news in this, our “Community Billboard”.

Grow a Mo for Movember started in 2003 when two mates, Travis Garone and Luke Slattery meet up for a quiet beer in Melbourne, Australia, and the idea that sparked Movember is born. Today 6 million Mo Bros and Mo Sisters around the world raise funds to help change the face of men’s health.

Keep your events diary up to date on the MDSARC Inc Web site so that we all know about your communities important events.

In 2020 funding for 34 separate projects twas raised to support the mental health and wellbeing of men and boys. A mass media behaviour change campaign aimed at encouraging millions of young men to talk about their mental health, was also successfully launched.

This is your newsletter - let all of Maleny know the latest info from your club every week!

When caught early, testicular cancer is highly treatable and highly curable. In the unlikely event that you’re diagnosed with testicular cancer, Movember has your back.

All articles, results, posters and photos (as large sized jpegs, please do not embed these in a Word doc) for inclusion in the weekly sports results should be emailed to

By uniting experts from around the world to collaborate on projects that will fundamentally change the way men in need are treated and supported it is hoped to nd solutions to bringing men’s health problems under control.

riday night saw our magical Master Blasters travel to Glasshouse to play. The Maleny Peachester Redbacks took on Landsborough Green.

The batting innings got off to a yer with openers KDiss (29 runs) and Beau (20 runs) scoring at a rapid rate. The middle order drove the total forward with Keeley scoring 31 runs and Zailey amassing a very impressive 38 runs. At the end of their innings MPR has scored 167 off the bat. Landsborough Green had their turn at bat and showed their class. However the Redbacks bowlers demonstrated their own impressive skills. Inglis created 3 wickets off his allotted balls. Sophie was the pick of the bowlers restricting the opposition to only 4 runs off her overs, while creating 3 wickets. At the end of the match MPR ran out winners by 30 runs. The Maleny Redbacks took on Wamuran in an epic battle. The Maleny team bowled well restricting the oppositions scoring opportunities. Thomas claimed 2 wickets off his overs. At the end of the innings Wamuran scored 141 runs. Samson (22 runs) and Oliver S (16 runs) got the Redbacks innings off to a great start. Oliver M (33 runs) and Bryce (38 runs) were the pick of the Redback batsmen, allowing the Maleny team to amass 157 runs. The Master Blasters return to Landsborough for next week's games.

Redbacks meant that USC was able to cruise to victory. Sunday saw the Maleny side travel to Maroochydore to take on the table topping home side. Batting rst on a variable deck, openers Jonty Corkin and Ryan Harlow took the cautious approach. After 10 overs the Rebacks were 0 for 28. Corkin set about being the mainstay of the innings, combining with the other batsmen as wickets fell. Daniel Hand scored a run a ball 20 runs, while Corkin continued building a total. Corkin lifted his scoring rate and eventually fell for 67 runs in the 36th over with the score at 8 for 129. A late cameo by Ian McConnel (20 runs) saw the Redbacks score a competitive 154 runs off 40 overs. Maleny knew bowling tight lines would be needed to restrict the run scoring opportunities during Maroochydore's turn at bat. The opposition got of to a fair start being 1 for 45 off 20 overs. Jacob Gosling then came on to bowl grabbing 2 wickets in his second over. A third wicket to Gosling had the game evenly poised with Maroochydore 4 for 79 off 15 overs. Ian McConnel (1 for 25 off and Greg Corkin then combined to restrict Maroochydore's run ow.

Corkin baked up some 'irresistible pies' to claim the impressive gures of 3 for 17 off 8 overs. Maroochydore were 8 for 107 off 28 overs. Despite a ery nal overs spell by Kyle Jackson, Maroochydore were able to hold strong and crawl their way to the required total with only balls to spare. The Scott's Rural Services Player of the Match this week was Jonty Corkin.

The Range Croquet Club - Maleny Things are certainly heating up at our club in more ways than one, both with summer coming on and with excitement building up for our November Tournament!! But more on that later…

coaching Andrea Merrick in where to aim when running hoop 5 while in the background, Sally Adams and Lynette are practicing shots around hoop 2.

Thursday 28th October saw a small but keen group of players turn up for an enjoyable afternoon of play. Ken Barker took on Nick Cram for hotly contested singles match-up. At the same time, Sarah Widen and Helen Uhlmann teamed up against Lynette Evans and Helen Andrews for a very congenial game. As a couple of players needed to abandon ship and leave early, no scores were recorded.

In other news, our club is hosting its annual November Tournament from Thursday 4th to Sunday 7th. We have players coming from far and wide to play us in Divisions 1 through 4 and we’re looking forward to some great competition.

Sunday 31st October saw the Carberys teamed against each other again in a cracking doubles game. Val and Sarah teamed up to nish victorious against Vince and Nick with a nal score of 14:4. At the same time, an “on re” Lynette played her best to prevail over Wallace Roy in a singles game with a nal score of 20:5.

In a nal piece of news, the inside of our clubhouse has had a new lick of paint and our trophies and shields have been beautifully rearranged and displayed to great effect. Thanks so much to Wallace and Sarah for their efforts!

Saturday mornings are always busy as we come to practice and gain useful advice and tips, with coaching provided and a chance for a relaxed game. In the attached photo from Saturday 30th October, you can see Vince in the foreground

Come on down on any of those days for a chance to see how the game of Association Croquet is played out! You may even score a cuppa if you turn up at the right time!

Start times on play days, Thursday, and Sunday, have changed because of hotter weather. They are now 2.00 for 2.30 p.m. Play days: Thursday and Sunday 2.00 pm for 2.30. Contact Sarah for other days. Please arrive at 2 pm for games to be arranged by 2.30. Coaching: is available on Saturday mornings at 8 am For details contact, or Contact Sarah Widin President 0417 640 704.
