There is also a wheel with lots of great prizes to be won. Tickets are available for purchase at Maleny Communications and Barbers of Maleny, so at the both ends of town!

Rotarian, Ric Townsend is going all out to make this a fun and memorable night for everyone and raise some money in doing so. This great night of entertainment and laughter has an important basis. Maleny Rotary raises funds for a number of local and international charities.

allowed those clubs to distributed directly to disadvantaged communities and individuals through Rotary humanitarian aid projects, using all 100% of the donated funds

Maleny Rotary was also able to donate $5000 directly to Orange Sky Laundry. Orange Sky Laundry is a charity based in Brisbane that offers a free mobile laundry service for the homeless throughout Australia. Orange Sky Laundry services Maleny homeless through the Maleny Neighbourhood Centre.

Locally, we all know about Sam, The Travelling Jackaroo. Sam is driving his fully restored 1965 Chamberlain 9G tractor 13,500km around Australia. The trip is raising funds for the Royal Flying Doctor Service and Lights on the Hill Trucking Memorial, Drought Angels and Dolly’s Dream.

To date he has raised over $200,00 in total for his projects. His trip is being supported by the Rotary club of Maleny.

Let’s dress up in our best Gangsters and Flappers attire!

Ric says that the money will be going to Maleny’s Naval Cadet Unit, TS Centaur and the Maleny Mens Shed, who both need some funds to upgrade their respective buildings.

Recently the Maleny Rotary Club was able to donate $4000 to Rotary Australia World Community Service Ltd for the Ukraine Appeal. This money will be donated directly to Rotary clubs in Ukraine. This

Back by popular demand Seniors’ Forum on Elder Abuse

We all want to believe we will be safe and cared for as we get older. But this does not always happen. What can we do to ensure the rights and safety of ourselves and our loved ones?

While there has been much publicity in recent years about domestic and family violence, there has been less emphasis on how our elders can also suffer physical, emotional, and financial abuse.

There will be a short film in the form of a drama outlining issues for older people and their legal rights, including Enduring Powers of Attorneys and Wills, followed by a complimentary morning tea.

After this a question-and-answer session will be hosted by Julian Porter from the Suncoast Community Legal Service. Representatives from Centacare.

Domestic Violence Service, Relationships Australia Elder Abuse team, & QPS Vulnerable Persons Unit, will also be available to speak to.

Come along to learn what you can do to ensure your rights to safety in your advanced years. And bring all your questions for the experts.

This interactive free session will focus on keeping us safe as we age, particularly the problems that can occur with giving friends and family power over our affairs – and how to protect ourselves and our loved ones.

It has been organised by Speak Up Now – Stop Domestic and Family Violence, a collaboration set up between the Rotary Club of Maleny, Zonta Blackall Range, Quota Club of Maleny, and the Maleny Neighbourhood Centre.

The main presenter on the day will be the Suncoast Community Legal Service, along with Relationships Australia, Centacare Domestic Violence Unit, Accredited Elder Abuse Lawyer, and QPS Vulnerable Persons Unit.

Where: Maleny RSL

When: Monday, 20th March - 9.00-11.30 am

It would be appreciated if you RSVPs for catering purposes by phone to Val on 0419599042 or email: speakupnowstopdomesticviolence@gmail.com

The Range Croquet Club - Maleny

Sarah Widin returned after several weeks to play Ken Barker on Thursday. Undeniably rusty there was still enough of the old positional skills to hold Ken to a modest 9 – 5. Donna Manning was in fine form against a team of Lynette Evans and Nick Cram. Donna has recently tripped south where she was first reserve for the Queensland team. She notched up a couple of nice wins in that capacity. She beat Nick and Lynette 13 – 7. We are pleased to welcome Carol Payne to the club. Carol is learning to play association croquet with coaching on Saturday. On Sunday she teamed up with Lynette to play alternate shot doubles against Wallace Roy. Lynette and Carol played shot about. It’s a great way for the junior player to learn the rules of the game, what shot to play where, and generally an idea of the tactics. Wallace played a blinder to score sixteen hoops, no mean feat, to beat them 16 – 2. Dianne Horseman and Donna played Nick and Sarah doubles, losing 5 – 15.

Please arrive at 1 pm for games to be arranged by 1.30p.m..

Coaching: is available on Saturday mornings at 8 am.

Variations of the game include eXtreme Croquet and Bicycle Croquet. You can introduce your kids and grandkids to croquet at the web site below:
