Help Can Start with a Conversation!

Your Club News

“Continued from Page 1”

If your club or organisation is an associate member of the Maleny District Sports and Recreation Club then you can publicise your club results and news in this, our “Community Billboard”.

Sunday 7th November, he and team-mates will yet again be taking the time to help others by participating in the 2021 Bridge to Brisbane Fun Run, raising more funds for his chosen charity. If you’d like to make a donation, please go to: https://bridgetobrisbane.gofundraise.com.au/page/Jared-9511988)

But Jared is not Superman 24/7 - if you see him, let him know you are there if you can. Sporting a colourful shirt from Trade Mutt in recognition of the need for blokes to strike up conversation, Jared looks so bright on the outside, but sometimes, underneath, there are real shades of grey.

Keep your events diary up to date on the MDSARC Inc Web site so that we all know about your communities important events.

Trade Mutt are an Australian workwear brand that aims to make tradies and workers of all kinds look and feel great at work, and in doing so, try to reduce the rate of male suicide in Australia.

This is your newsletter - let all of Maleny know the latest info from your club every week!

The loud and vibrant shirts act as a catalyst to starting the conversation around mental health in men, a topic that has been hard to approach in the past for blokes, mostly due to the attached stigmas and perceived weakness.

All articles, results, posters and photos (as large sized jpegs, please do not embed these in a Word doc) for inclusion in the weekly sports results should be emailed to

Take a Seat - Speak Up Now

There are many working hard in the community on initiatives that will make a difference. For instance, Maleny’s “ Speak Up Now” partnership is working with the Red Rose Foundation on the Red Bench initiative, and thanks to their work, we now have 4 red benches in Maleny:

denvergail1@gmail.com no later than 12 noon every Monday.

1. Maleny Post Of ce, Riverside Shopping Centre, 3a/8 Maple Street.

Club website: www.malenysportandrec.org.au

2. ‘Gone Bonkers’ Discount Shop, 3/5 Maple Street. 3. Maleny Neighbourhood Centre, 17 Bicentenary Lane. 4. Pioneer Village, 7 Bryce Lane. Red Benches are a permanent reminder that domestic violence occurs in all our communities – and we all can take a seat and have the mportant conversations on support, prevention and effective intervention. The Speak Up Now community team aims for there to be even more red benches in our town, making Maleny the “Red Bench Capital of the World” - follow their progress at https://www.facebook.com/SpeakUpNowStopDomesticViolenceMalenyBlackallRange/

Where's Sam? After ve and a half months, thousands of kilometres and tens of thousands of dollars raised, Sam Hughes, aka The Travelling Jackaroo, has left Queensland and entered the Northern Territory on his trip around Australia to raise money for the Royal Flying Doctor’s Service and Dolly’s Dream. Sam’s story truly is an amazing one – we strongly encourage you to follow his Facebook page for updates on his trip! The attached photo shows Vince about to make hoop 7 with a problem ahead of him. He wants to move both black and blue forward to continue his break. One solution is to rush black to corner 2 then croquet it to hoop 9 getting behind blue with the intention of rushing it to hoop 8 effectively regaining control of the break.
