It's not a gimme if you're still 5 feet away.

The shortest distance between any two points on a golf course is a straight line that passes directly through the center of a very large tree. You can hit a two acre fairway 10% of the time and a two inch branch 90% of the time. If you really want to get better at golf, go back and take it up at a much earlier age. Since bad shots come in groups of three, a fourth bad shot is actually the beginning of the next group of three. Take Care with Pesticides

Last Wednesday whilst walking around the Maleny Precinct walks, some keen-eyed local walkers noticed a very sick grounded Masked Owl that showed signs of having been poisoned. Proper help was obtained and the owl taken to Australia Zoo for treatment. Unfortunately, the owl had to be euthanised due to neurological damage and multiple organ failure. This sad story may serve as a reminder of the dangers second generation rodenticides can pose to other wildlife, such as owls and possums if used. If rat baits are used, please consider using rst generation baits that do not harm our wildlife. This link to the WIRES website has useful information on the subject if you are interested in learning more. https://www.wires.org.au/wildlife-information/ wildlife-and-pesticides

Come to St George Anglican Church at 2 Walker Drive Maleny on 2pm Sunday March 20. The Range Croquet Club - Maleny This past week has been an active and enjoyable one at the Range Croquet Club. Play on Thursday afternoon the 18th was well attended, with the weather treating us well and coaxing many of us out to play. On lawn 1, Vince Carbery teamed up with Ken Barker to challenge Donna Manning and Kath Smith, going down 7:11 in a well fought contest. Meanwhile on the same lawn, Lynette Evans and Helen Uhlmann contested each other in a good practice game, with Lynette winning 12:8. On lawn 2, Val Carbery and Sally Adams played Wallace Roy and Helen Andrews, going down 8:11 in an enjoyable and friendly match up. Friday saw a visit from the “Caloundra Group” and a great morning of fun and friendship was enjoyed by everyone, with golf croquet played on half lawns. We have been welcoming this lovely group of friends for several years now and this is a time we look forward to sharing together. Saturday saw a great morning of coaching, with Vince demonstrating the correct use of bisques, among other skills, to Helen Uhlmann, Stuart Craig and Lynette Evans. This was followed by instructive game play with Sarah Widin and Val Carbery joining in. There was much discussion about strategy, which was enjoyed by us all. In the attached photo, Val can be seen preparing to roquet and rush the yellow ball forward towards hoop two with her black striker’s ball. Following this, she was able to use her croquet shot to place her black ball in front of the hoop and then use her continuation shot to make the hoop. Participants at coaching learn a lot from watching experienced players like Val play.

Sunday 20th saw another day of great play with two singles games. Sarah Widen played a very close game against Lynette Evans with a nal score of 13:12 to Sarah. Meanwhile, in the other match, Wallace Roy played Stuart Craig winning 10:5. This was a momentous occasion for Stuart who chalked up his rst peel at hoop one. Well done Stuart! Play days: Thursday and Sunday 2.00 pm for 2.30. Contact Sarah for other days. Please arrive at 2 pm for games to be arranged at 2.15 and started by 2.30. Coaching: is available on Saturday mornings at 8 am. Photo: Val can be seen preparing to roquet and rush the yellow ball forward Our web address is: https://rangecroquetatmaleny.org.au Follow on Facebook at: https://www.facebook.com/rangecroquetclub/? __tn__=HHH-R For details contact Sarah Widin 0417640704 (President)

Did you know that the club has hosted Queensland wide completions at their Maleny Courts. In 2005, the club, in association with other Sunshine Coast clubs, hosted the Australian championship. The Maleny Show-grounds courts were opened July 26th, 1993 following the club using a court at Ted Singletons private residence.

Court Hire. Our courts may be available for community use or for special events, like workplace team-building or social gathering. Our croquet equipment may be available for your guests in some special occasion (e.g. wedding) if suitable grounds are available. If you are interested, please phone, email or use the contact page.

JP's in the Community The Maleny Neighbourhood Centre have been informed that the JP's in the Community Program at Maleny Neighbourhood Centre will commence again from Monday 7 February 2022 9.30am–12.30pm Monday to Friday.
