Rotary's Challenge!

The Rotary Club of Maleny’s leading golf team (pictured) have issued a challenge to all golfers to try to beat them at the Maleny Rotary Golf Day October 28th on the picturesque Maleny Golf Course. Rotary have got some great prizes to give away on the day too - and the forecast is for beautiful weather. So be there to be a part of a fun day! The format is an 18-hole 4 ball Ambrose starting at 9am. $100 per player includes breakfast, lunch, and a team buggy.

Golfers of all standards, either as individuals or in teams of 4, are most welcome. The Ambrose format allows golfers to be part of a team and is great fun to play.

Rotary Maleny also still has several sponsorships available; sponsors will be invited to place an advertising banner on the hole.

All funds raised will be donated to the charity Orange Sky Australia, who are doing a great job supporting the homeless, and a Rotary International fund that supports people in Ukraine.

Orange SkyAustralia has a simple formula; that is they provide a platform for every day Australians to connect through a regular laundry and shower service and a positive and supportive environment for people who are too often ignored or who feel disconnected from the community.

Support for the people people in Ukraine. Well, who could say more when we see daily the atrocities being carried out on them.

Driving into flood waters!!!

Can someone tell me what I am missing?

It does not appear to matter just how many times we are told just how dangerous it is to drive into floodwaters, many drivers still do it.

During every major weather event we hear about people drowning or having to be rescued because they drove into flood waters!

First the Rain …..now the hot weather!!!

After many days of soaking rain the weather bureau has forecast days of hot humid weather. A good tip for us all and our pets is that we all should ensure that we have sufficient water to keep our body fluids up.

Join in the Net Set Go Program!

Net Set Go is a fantastic program run as an introductory fun course to the sport of Netball. It is a lot of fun and is for BOYS and GIRLS! It’s a chance to learn the netball basics, get outside, pick up a netball or chuck on a bib and make some friends.

Each participant will receive their very own pack which includes a netball and t-shirt

The program is at risk of not going ahead this term due to low numbers. We only need a few more kids to join in to keep it running, it’s hard enough keeping sporting clubs running in small towns we really need to support their programs and efforts in the community to bring sports to our families.

If your kids are, interested feel free to send a message to malenynetball@gmail.com

NetSetGo (ages 5-10) happens on Thursday afternoons from 3.30pm at Maleny High School.

Come and get the kids involved, you know you want to!

The Range Croquet Club - Maleny

Lynette Evans and Wallace Roy were the only players from our club to play anywhere this week. They both went to Brisbane to compete in the Ernie Melville trophy event played at Stephens Club, Yeronga. Playing away is a great way to improve your game because of the experience gained on various types of lawn and meeting new opponents with differing styles of play.

Wallace played well but without luck to score one game from three while Lynette made three wins from three games to be ahead in her block at close of play on Saturday. Unfortunately, the weather closed the tournament down after that, but well done to both players and thanks to Heather Knight and Stephens Club for organising the event.

We will host several players from different clubs in early November. Events are organised so that first division plays on Thursday 3rd through to the fourth division on the 6th. Spectators are welcome. It should be noted that, in the past, these games have always been exciting, close fought affairs. Looking at the field, this year promises be no different.

On a lighter note, these ducks of indeterminate age were the only users of our lawn in the week from the 17th

Did you know that the first mallet and hoop sports were recorded in the 17th century. According to oxfordcroquet.com; “Croquet is a race between two sides each of whom has a pair of balls”.

You can introduce your kids and grandkids to croquet at the web site below: https://kids.kiddle.co/Croquet
