At their regular meeting on Monday June 26th The Maleny Senior Citizens Club help celebrate the 90th birthdays of three of their tong-time members. The meeting was attended by Local State Member of Parliament, Mr Andrew Powell and local Sunshine Coast Councillor, Mr. Winston Johnston.
The photo on page 1 shows the club celebrated the 90th birthdays of three members, from left to right - Howard Mear (July 29th), George Diefenbach (June 16th) and Lisa Plucknett (Oct 18th)with local State Member of Parliament, Mr. Andrew Powell far left and Division 5 Sunshine Coast Councillor, Mr. Winstone Johnston on right helping to celebrate this important birthday milestone.
Maleny Senior Citizens meet on the 3rd and 4th Monday each month in the Verandah Room of the Maleny Community Centre at 8.45a.m. where they enjoy several activities including cards, arts and guest speakers followed by morning tea.

Green Park is home to the Sunshine Coast Motor Cycle Club, which hosts many high-profile events throughout the year, attracting competitors and spectators come from across Australia and the world.
Green Park boasts three unisex toilets, including an ambulant and accessible toilet, the facility is environmentally-friendly and features a rainwater collection and in-ground storage tank
The Conondale Classic Weekend was a gathering of pre-95 vintage motorcycle enthusiasts, bikes, and of course riding which took place between Friday the 9th to Sunday the 11th of June, 2023.
The Classic Weekend is a non-competitive vintage dirt bike riding event across a series of tracks including the legendary Conondale Green Park.
This weekend included a vintage Bike Show n Shine show on the Saturday.

They are also looking for volunteers to read to members of our community who can have limited or no ability to read independently.

Learn to play contract bridge at the Maleny Contract Bridge Club. Bridge is one of the most popular card games in the world. Bridge is a valuable exercise for the mind and players are interacting with others and benefitting for their friendship

Each, including this Tuesday 13 June 2023 our regular bowlers will be enjoying a social game of bowls which will be followed by a lunch at the Maleny Hotel. This venture encourages players and visitors to socialise after the game.
We would love to see you come and join us with new bowlers and visitors most welcome to attend. Members and visitors are welcome. Simply arrive at the bowls club at 8.30a.m. for a 9a.m. start with two games of 10 ends with morning tea served between games.

The Maleny Neighbourhood Centre is part of the JP's in the Community Program. This program is available to witness signatures and certify your routine legal documents such as wills, affidavits, statutory declarations.

Two of our members, Graham and Russell are still working on our popular cow bells, but we are trying a new idea: we are making smaller goat bells which swing in a horse stirrup.

The Chatty Cafe is being held at the Maleny Library every Tuesday from 10:30 to 11:30 and provides locals with an opportunity for a cuppa and a chat with fellow Chatty Cafe guests and friendly volunteers.

Maleny Showgrounds is open for camping. This ground offers camping year-round (maximum 3 night stay), except during major events & seasonal blackout dates.
All campers who can adhere to the Qld Health, Sunshine Coast Council and Qld Government regulations pertaining to Covid-19 social distancing and hygiene guidelines are welcome. Enjoy a peaceful environment close to town. Groups and caravanning clubs are welcome. Cost is just $25 per night.

Tuesday we saw play in the Lochwood competition at Bribie Island. Sarah Widin and Donna Manning couldn’t quite find a good rhythm against their opponents until the doubles, losing the rubber 1 game to 2.
Great conditions on Thursday saw some good games played. Sara played a team consisting of Vince Carbery and Donna. Donna and Vince won 12 – 9. Helen Andrews and Wallace Roy continued with their winning combination beating Nick Cram and Sally Adams 14 – 7. Ken Barker played Chris Borlase in a game where both players were scratchy. Ken ended up ahead 22 – 18.
Only two games were played on Sunday, a game of doubles where Ken and Sally formed a team to play Wallace and Sarah. A visit from Dennis and Chris Watt from Ayr punctuated the game with first Sarah then Ken taking them through the basics of association croquet. The doubles game finished with a win to Ken and Sally 14 – 11. Donna and Vince had a close fought encounter with Vince remembering some old form to finish ahead 11 – 10.
Don’t forget the Bray competition this Saturday. Spectators are welcome.

Association Croquet is a tactical game, usually between two players, consisting of running six hoops in order with two balls, clockwise first and then anti-clockwise, and finally hitting the central peg. It is played in a lawn measuring 35yards by 28 yards. The running of a hoop and hitting of the peg scores one point. The maximum score is, therefore, 26 points. Six hoops twice by two balls plus the pegging out.
Association Croquet is a challenging and intriguing sport requiring tactical ability, judgment and skill rather than strength and fast reflexes.
Did you know that the game was apparently invented in Ireland in the 1830s and taken to England as a pastime of the aristocracy in the 1850s. Give it a go!.
