Ho Ho Ho … Merry Christmas!!

Maleny Commerce has been very busy writing lists, and checking them twice to make sure Maleny’s Late Night Christmas Party is the best ever!

No matter what age there is something for everyone at this year’s event in Maple Street Maleny. The entire street top to bottom is participating.

Most of our retailers and cafes are staying open so you can enjoy some late-night shopping and a bite to eat. Why not do a progressive dinner ending

Of course, it would not be Christmas without Carols and Maleny Singers will be performing them at the RSL from 6.30pm.

You can support local artists by shopping at the Handmade Markets in the Community Centre which will be open from 3pm to 8pm.

Waste Action Maleny (WAM) will have a stall on the grass area next to Peace of Green with up-cycled Christmas decorations for sale and will have activities for kids to make their own.

Why not visit the Petting Zoo and grab one of Apex’s famous garlic prawns at the Riverside Centre … and there will be much - much more!

Don’t forget to purchase a $2 raffle ticket at the Kiosk for your chance to win a $500 Maleny Gift Card that can be spend at one or many of the 95 Maleny businesses registered that accepts the card. Winning this would be the perfect end to a perfect late night in Maleny!

It’s HOT:

Remember your Pets

Heat risk to your companions and livestock With a taste of summer in Queensland, RSPCA Queensland is urging pet owners to keep their pets cool with ample shade and water.

The charity is already experiencing a spike in calls regarding pets in heat distress.

People need to be aware of the dangers to their pets this time of year. Animals left in hot cars or tied up in backyards without shade and water can suffer heatstroke and even die in these hot conditions.

music band playing there and the Upbeat Rhythm 'Carnaval' drum band will be in the street!

The Range Croquet Club - Maleny

Donna Manning and Sarah Widin played Ken Barker and Vince Carbery in a game of doubles on Thursday where good breaks were played on both sides. At different times players were set up with the opportunity of going to the peg with their ball however, like the Australian team at Cairnlea, small errors were their downfall. Donna and Sarah won a close game 14 – 12.

Wallace Roy and Dianne Horsman, two of our promising players, played a friendly game of singles in which Wallace was in fine form winning convincingly 16 – 8. Seems as though we’ll have a good Bray team next year! Sensible people took notice of the BOM (or is that the Bureau?) on Sunday and stayed at home. Dianne and Donna had a good practice and coaching session before play at 2.30 but that was about as good as it was going to get.

Nick Cram and Ken began a game of singles as did Lynette Evans and Dianne in fairly muggy conditions and patches of bright sunshine. The rain hit at about 3.30 pm and play was abandoned soon after when it appeared to be setting in. Lynette had scored a creditable seven break in that time, but no game scores were recorded.

The attached photo below shows Nick, Ken, Lynette, and Dianne sheltering under the shade shelter as play was about to be abandoned.

Our Christmas party will be held on the 10th of December. Please contact Sarah with your details and what plate you can bring.

Play days: Thursday and Sunday 1.00 pm for 1.30. Contact Sarah Widin for other days. Please arrive at 1 pm for games to be arranged by 1.15.

Coaching: is available on Saturday mornings at 8 am.
