Another big difference is in durability. The more expensive paints are also more washable and offer greater scrub resistance. If you try washing dirt off a cheaper paint, you're likely to wash off some of the paint itself.

Keep in mind that the colour will appear more vibrant when you apply it to the walls and will be influenced by other colours around it such as from carpets, curtains and furniture.

grade to cover the same area with multiple coats.

You'll get better results if you cut in just one wall, then immediately roll out the wall before cutting in the next one That's because if you roll out the wall right away, while the cut-in paint is still wet, the cut-in paint and the wall paint will blend much better, reducing the chance of lap marks. Finish painting one whole room before moving onto the next. Paint ceilings first before walls to avoid splattering finished walls! Lawyer Street, Maleny. Ph 54942002

A coat of paint can really transform the look of any room, floor, doors or deck, and it doest cost you a small fortune to get a new look from some ageing items in your home. But when you see paint on the market ranging from $8 a litre all the way to $20 or more, it starts to questions.raiseAre those more expensive paints REALLY worth the Onemoney?factor that you need to consider, is the type of paint. Oil based paint or water based paint. Oil paints are great for durability and provide a really smooth coat. But they are also a lot harder to clean up. Water based paints on the other hand have come a long way with the improved chemistry behind them, and can be cleaned with water. Another deciding factor in the higher grade, higher priced paints, is application. The higher grade paints contain a titanium in the mix, which gives the paint more coverage and a smoother finish. So it does a better job at covering up those small imperfections that come with time. With a lower grade paint, you may need 3-4 and sometimes even 5 coats to get the same effect as you would with the more expensive paint. When applied by paintbrush, cheaper paints show brush marks and provide poor coverage due to the thin layers they create. World’s first Ute …or was it In 1933, a Gippsland farmer’s wife wrote a letter to Ford Australia, asking: “Can you build me a vehicle that we can use to go to church on Sunday, without getting wet, and that my husband can use to take the pigs to market on Monday?” Lew Bandt, who was then a young designer at GeelongFord’s plant, modified a 1933 coupe, by incorporating tub bodywork in the back and strengthening the chassis so that it could carry a load. The prototype was approved and the Ford Australia ute went into production in 1934 as the Model 40-A Light Delivery.

There is a list that you can use as a guide to start preparing your home before the start of bushfire season. Find that list at the web link prepare-for-bushhttps://www.qfes.qld.gov.au/prepare/bushbelow:fire/fire-season.

Bushfires in Queensland can occur at any time, but can begin in July and runs through until October, but can extend through to February. The impacts of climate change are creating extended fire seasons. A well prepared home is easier to defend and reduces the risk to surrounding properties. An unprepared home is not only at risk itself, but may also present an increased danger for your neighbours.

Police have recently charged three middle aged motorcyclists who allegedly filmed themselves and posted it to Facebook, travelling at high speeds through the southern Sunshine Coast Hinterland between Beerwah - Peachester - Kilcoy and Bellthorpe. The film shows them reaching speeds of over 200kph and continually crossing double lines on narrow winding mountainous roads. Riding at excessive speed and crossing double lines when you can’t clearly see oncoming traffic is reckless and puts other road users’ lives at risk as well. The winding roads can be extremely dangerous, especially travelling at high speed and that is evident in the rising number of deaths and serious injury to Itriders.ispretty common for us to hear excuses and complaints about “money raising” when it comes to traffic enforcement from drivers when it comes to the roads, but they never explain about the shocking road toll Driversstatistics.must change their mind frame and give their full attention to the roads at all times.

What to do if you need assistance

The Landsborough area was first settled in 1871 by Isaac and Samuel Burgess where they built a temperence hotel. At the time the tiny settlement was known as Mellum Creek. With an area of over 400 sq miles, Landsborough Shire included Caloundra, Maleny and Beerburrum. Its settlements were a mixture of rural and Landsboroughcoastal-resort. was named for the British born explorer William Landsborough who was the first European to cross Australia north to south. In 1890 a 19.68 mile (approx 32 kilometres) railway line from Caboolture to Mellum Creek (Landsborough) was officially opened on 1 February 1890. At this time Landsborough was the largest town in the area, followed by Maleny then the sleepy fishing town of Caloundra. Landsborough is a rural area. Settlement of the area dates back to the 1870s. The land was used mainly for timber-getting and farming. The opening of the railway line in 1891 slowly changed the development of the Inarea.1913 on the 17th June the Landsborough Shire Council held its first meeting in Dwyers Hall with John Tytherleigh as the Shire Chairman and H. J. Hooper appointed as Shire Clerk. In 1914 Shire Chairman and storekeeper John Tytherleigh opened a new store in Landsborough on the corner of Cribb and Maleny Streets. Between 1914 and 1916 the Mellum Club Hotel at Landsborough was moved on skids from Old Gympie Road Cribb Street. 1922 saw the construction of Landsborough Maleny Road commence.

The longest serving chairman of the local council was Cr. Jack Beausang who ruled the shire from 1964 until 1988 and oversaw the change from Landsboough Shire to Caloundra City. Thus he became the first Mayor of Caloundra City. Jack came from the pioneering Beausang family of Conondale. In 1933 a police presence was established in the area with a one man station established at Landsborough. From here the lone police officer, George Weldren patrolled the area by from Landsborough to Maleny and Caloundra horseback. Because of the route of patrol Policeman’sd Spur Road at Reesville got its name. It was not until 1952 that a one man police station was established at Maleny. It remained a one officer station until the late 1980’s when it was increased to a two officer station.

Today there are four officers stationed at Maleny and a new police station is located in Macadamia Drive. The Maleny Butter Factory began operation in 1904. On July 1st July 1978 the Maleny Butter CoOp amalgamated with the Caboolture Co-Op and subsequently on October 1st, 1987 the Caboolture Co-Op amalgamated with Queensco CoOp Association Ltd. Maleny was a timber town until the early 1920s and then was a centre of dairy production and fruit growing. Today Maleny is mainly a residential area housing workers for the greater Sunshine Coast and Brisbane. The shire's population stayed at under 10,000 until 1970, but almost tripled in the following ten years as Caloundra expanded along the coast to Golden Beach and Kawana Waters. Today, not only was the Landsborough Shire morphed into Caloundra City, but Caloundra City is now part of the Sunshine Coast Council. There is only one thing that is sure in this world and that is that everything is bound to change.

Here it would be remiss of me not to mention Herbert Layt. He was the Landsborough Shire Clerk in the late 1930‘s and he worked tirelessly as the Shire Clerk, to establish the Great North Road later to become the Bruce LandsboroughHighway.

The Landsborough Railway Station’s public air raid shelter is a rare surviving example of the public shelters built at railway stations in Queensland during World War II. Constructed in 1942 by Queensland Railways to protect civilian and military passengers on the busy North Coast railway line, the shelter is situated on the southern end of the station’s platform, on the west side of the line.

coming to the fore over the past couple of weeks about the “alleged secretly swearing in of the previous Prime Minister, Scott Morrison to be the Minister of a number of Federal Departments without actually standing down of the already sworn in Minister of those Departments, or even advising them of what he intended to do. Was the fact that this happened before the 2022 Federal Election and the Coalition government was flagging in the polls have anything to do with Mr Morrison’s questionable move. These actions had been taken since 2020.

Whilst legal advice is that there appears to be nothing illegal about the move, but was it morally right and should the relevant Ministers already in place should have been advised. Appointments as Ministers to Departments are normally published in the Federal Register of Legislation which is the authorised website for Commonwealth legislation and related documents. In one instance Mr Morrison overturned a decision already made by the “appointed Minister” in respect to a petroleum exploration licence off the NSW Central Coast for seas off New South Wales. It must now be the time for Mr. Morrison to really well explain his thinking about the real reasons for making the decision he made in respect to his appointments. It is simply not good enough to hide behind the “Covid Wall” as that was not the real reason as shown by the overturning of the above decision. If Covid concerns was real then surely it would have been better to simply put a process in place that would cover that situation.

to note the departments that then Prime Minister took part control of - they were all senior ministries.

Has ex Prime MinisterScott Morrison's secret ministerial appointments complied with Australian constitutional conventions? Why wasn’t the Australian population widely advised of the changes that were being made?

The issue on the minds of most borrowers in recent months has been rising interest rates.

A new home loan can also be set up to make allowance for home improvements, a car purchase or refinance of other personal debts, all on the same low interest rate. We are available to discuss your situation 7 days a week.

Whilst variable home loan interest rates are now much higher than they have been over the past 2 years, they are still relatively low compared to what borrowers have been paying for much of the past 30 years. This has resulted in a lot of home loan borrowers seeking a better deal by refinancing to another lender to cushion the impact of higher interest Somerates. lenders also have offers of up to $4,000 cash back to help make the process of refinancing a loan even more attractive. We are available to assist with a free review of your home loan to ascertain whether there are any improvements that can be made to your existing arrangements in terms of interest rates, repayments and fees.

https://issuu.com/Maleny-Grapevine-Community-News Locally & Shop with a Friend 23 S omething that I always reminisce about when people ask me on the favourite places I’ve been to on my travels so far and that is the “outback pub”. I usually say that the the best ones are remote. The outback pub isn’t just a pub. It’s a gathering point, whenever someone’s born or someone dies out bush the pub is where its acceptable and common for people to mourn or to celebrate. When the floodwater breaks in or the bushfires break out the pub is a refuge for the town. A country town pub is its heart and soul of the Thecommunity.localsall know each other, the barmaid knows the regulars orders, a coin operated pool table with pool cues hung on the wall, a jukebox playing copperhead road or some Australian or Yank country music and sometimes even a dartboard are all common sights. There are also rooms to keep the weary traveller well rested and yarns to be spun for hours and hours right up to ,and even after closing time. Then you can sit out on the veranda with the bar and the kitchen staff after the final shift and enjoy the company and the local gossip. And I don’t even drink alcohol! My favourite pubs on my Journey so far are The Daly Waters Pub in the NT and the Wellshot Hotel in Western QLD. The reasons vary but they all connect to being near country towns, the locals all coming into the pub at night with a sense of community and atmosphere that a city pub just can’t compete with. They’re the type of places that will open their arms and welcome you in, places that have character, that have history and that have a heart and soul of the people who own and run them. You just can’t beat a country pub, they’re iconic and as much a part of outback Australia as dust and flies “How I will miss em when I am back down south in the city.” You can follow Sam’s blog, along with his 100,000 followers - a fantastic milestone reached this weekhttps://www.facebook.com/atthetravellingjackaroo
