Talking about it won’t change anything. Action does and it has to be persistent.

Want to lose weight? Start exercising. I didn’t see results for FOUR months but I kept at it everyday and now it’s become a habit. Make time in your day to make a small change. And do it every day, or on the same day of the week every day. And it will become a habit.

Want more success in work? Then put in the effort. Contact the people you want to work with. Show up at networking events. Reply to emails within 2 hours. Don’t be a slacker. Don’t clock watch. Write down realistic goals for the week, never mind the year or a 5 year plan. They will take care of themselves if you make the daily effort.

Stop complaining about everything. The law of attraction gives you what you want and feel, so if you’re pissed

off with your love life you’ll attract more of the same. If you’re moaning about your bank account the LOA says you’re attracting more lack. Focus on your FEELINGS and check yourself if you’re feeling negative. Why are you so pessimistic?

You have your health, you have food in the fridge, a warm home and good friends. Life isn’t shit unless you choose it to be.

And while we’re on the same subject stop blaming everyone else. My kids were not the reason I got fat. I was because I was eating shit all day. Take responsibility for your choices.

Want to travel more? Book the plane ticket and worry about what you’re going to do when you get there. Everything will fall into place

Don’t procrastinate - get off social media (unless you’re liking my posts ) and don’t let fear stop you from living your life. Ditch the partner, find the new job, set up the business, go skydiving, start a dance class, climb a mountain or start that business you’ve always wanted to do. Opportunity

is right in front of you when you start looking, don’t settle because something better is always around the corner.

How did you get into property? I was always destined to be involved in the property sector given that most of my family were involved in construction and development. For me it was a natural career path and I believe it to have been the right decision. Even after more than 35 years in the industry, I still have the appetite to succeed and to ensure we provide clients with a personal professional service.

What sets you aside from other property companies?

By being a solely familyowned business, we are able to demonstrate to clients a more personal aspect of the overseas market. This is particularly true regarding Cyprus, having been through the buying process ourselves many years ago. In addition we are able to assist clients from our UK office. Is the cost of living crisis affecting business or are you finding more people wanting to invest abroad?

During the last few years, with the impact of Brexit along with the global pandemic, we have seen a financial impact on businesses everywhere. I believe the result of this has made most of us revaluate our lives and lifestyle choices and focus on the qualities that are most important to us. Make your fuel go further this winter. With petrol prices and living costs at record highs, households are looking to cut their monthly expenses and improving fuel efficiency is a good way to help stretch the budget. Here are our tips:

Remove excess weight

The heavier the car, the harder the engine has to work, resulting in higher fuel consumption. Make sure to de-clutter your car and clear out the boot to reduce some weight.

Regular maintenance Keeping the car in good condition ensures that the vehicle runs efficiently which also helps fuel economy. It may be a bit costly to service the car, but it can save you a lot of money in the long run.

Drive smoothly Sudden braking and speeding up burns more fuel and that’s why it’s important to gauge the flow of traffic. Gentle acceleration and steady speed ensure the most economical use of fuel.

Change gears as early as possible Switching into the highest possible gear keeps the revs low which saves petrol. For example, at a 40 mph speed the car will consume 25 per cent more fuel in third gear compared to fifth. Under normal conditions the gears should be changed when the revs are between 1,500-2,000 rpm.

Check tyre pressure

It’s important to make sure that the tyres are inflated to the right pressure, because underinflated tyres create more rolling resistance which means that the engine has to work harder. The car can consume 5% more fuel for every 0.5 bar drop in pressure.

Avoid idling Drivers shouldn’t leave the engine running while they’ve stopped because it’s bad for the environment and wastes fuel. It’s worth switching off the engine when the car is stationary for even a few minutes.

Turn off additional functions The vehicle’s add-on functions, like air conditioning and seat heaters, should only be used, when necessary, as they drain the car’s battery as well as the petrol tank.

Don’t fill the tank to the brim Fuel is heavy, so if the tank is filled to the top, then there is more unnecessary weight that the car has to carry.

Lifestyle chats to artist and entrepreneur Ahmad Jaradat

The self taught artist paints from his studio based in his business, Floors & Walls in Paralimni and dreams of opening a gallery in Kapparis.

He came to Cyprus from Jordan in 1984 to study and settled here ever since.

He said, “I have always been interested in art, especially abstract. It started as a hobby and then my wife encouraged me to put them up for sale. I can never paint the same thing twice as everything is unique and I am starting to get

recognised. My paintings have been sold in Canada, Japan, the UK and Germany now. His ideas for his beautiful, eye catching canvasses come to him from his emotions. He said, “Everyday experiences and my emotions inspire me to paint. For example when my wife told me she was pregnant I had the urge to pan her something, I wanted to give her something special. And when she gave birth I painted another canvass of us all together, Every time I feel something I get the urge to paint and my emotions are expressed in my paintings."

The 27 year old self taught musician is an established artist with bookings every weekend but his dream is to crack America and especially Nashville, Tennessee, home of country music. His upbringing was filled with love, having being diagnosed with Asperger’s Syndrome a form of Autism at eight years old, he said he always knew he was different and says, “I went to a specialist school in West Kirby on the Wirral for students with Autism and I am very proud of that school because they gave me opportunities I wouldn’t have had in a mainstream school. I excelled in music, I excelled in performing arts and English and they honed my talents and that is what has helped make me the man I am today.”

I am very proud of my journey and I was shy and self conscious of who I was growing up but now as soon as I get on stage and go in the zone I just come into myself and me and my musicians get into a really good vibe. I believe I have a really great future ahead and can go all the way.”

Cal started his musical journey when he was 15. Just before his granddad passed away he bought

him his first guitar and as a child he listened to lots of different artists and genres and this definitely had a big impact on him. He said, “. My parents introduced me to people like Marc Bolan and T-Rex, David Bowie, The Rolling Stones, Ian Dury and The Clash. My Grandparents always played classic country records and 50’s and 60’s Rock N’Roll so through them I discovered the likes of Elvis, Johnny Cash, The Everly Brothers and Jim Reeves. My Nan and Grandad were both Irish so I also got a decent education in traditional Irish Music. I’m very proud of my Irish heritage.”

In 2017 Cal went to Nashville and met and worked on songs for his debut album with country producers and writers such as Blue Miller ( producer for Bob Seger, India Arie,Cormac Neeson and John Legend) and that inspired him to continue on his musical journey. He says, “The dream is to go back out there and make it big in America.

I am a bit of an old soul in that I like this genre of music, but I have a soulful voice. The whole vibe is to encourage people to have a great time and get involved in my music and clap along and dance.

I like to play along with my audience.

“I write a lot about my life experiences and the love of my family and friends and relationships I have been in, my music is emotional and I feel that people can really relate to that. I want to inspire and encourage people on the Autism spectrum to show them that a diagnosis isn’t a barrier to lead a full happy and healthy life.”

Cal is looking positively towards the New Year and beyond, saying, “My dream is to be the biggest recording artist I can be and I truly believe I can get there. I am a classic sounding artist and there is a place for me”

This is based on their eye shape, width and length of their natural eye. Infill’s are recommended every 2-3 weeks.

Up front and personal, body fat chooses where it sits within your body and when it is converted to energy. We all know the common places for our fat stores thighs, tums and bums for females (including under arms and boobs); men carry it up front. No matter how much exercise you do you will not be able to target certain parts of your body to loose fat. Your body fat sits on top of your muscles like a heavy all weather jacket, you will not see the designer clothes underneath unless you remove the jacket or change it for a summer jacket. If you fill a glass of water standing in a bowl and you fill the glass with too much water it will over flow and be caught in the bowl. The water is food, the bowl is your body, the over flow of water now becomes body fat. If you drink the full glass of water before it overflows, then there is no water in the bowl (body fat). Drinking the water by being active and exercising is the only way to ensure the glass does not overflow.

So how do we burn the body fat we have, the answer is obviously exercise but not all exercise achieves the same goals. The other answer is that we still need food, so starvation is not an option. If you choose to starve yourself then any food you eat will be stored as body fat as your body goes into shock and thinks its needs to store food because It

does not know when the next meal is coming. Your body then diverts its attention to other sources of energy and will start to break down the muscle fibres for energy. We have heard it all before but that is because it is only to maintain your current status quo or change your body size, eat healthy and get active. To burn fat muscle density is important, the more powerful the engine the more fuel it burns in combination with activities that raise the heart rate, but not too high. Strength training is just as important to improve the density of your muscles. Do not be scared of lifting weights, keep the weight low and repetitions high. Increase the weight as you feel the exercise becoming easier and change your strength training routine every 3-4 weeks. Keeps the body guessing what is coming next and keeps you from getting bored. Increasing muscle density will increase your ability to burn calories.

Each Personal Trainer has a different approach but my advice is to work with your body and listen to your heart as it is an automatic regulator. Depending on your everyday stress levels, sleep and diet your heart will always tell you how you are feeling, guiding you to what you can achieve on any particular day. The scientific method to find your optimum fat burning range is the formula 220 – Age = this gives you your Maximum Heart Rate (MHR). You then need to calculate 60% and 70% of your MHR. This will then give you the

range that your heart rate (HR) needs to work in to efficiently burn fat give or take 5-10 beats per minute. You can normally set these ranges on your smartwatch but if you do not have one, exercise at a pace that allows you to talk at the same time. This means you are breathing in enough oxygen for your body to use to break down fat. Once you start to find it difficult to exercise and talk then you are probably moving out of your fat burning zone, breathing becomes shallow and less oxygen will trigger your body to use different sources of energy and transition away from burning fat. I would recommend you choose an exercise you can do constantly for 30-45minutes like walking, slow jogging, cycling or rowing. There is no quick fix to burning fat or getting fit. I would suggest focusing on getting into a routine and aim for noticeable changes in your body size within 3 months. Do not forget that rest is just as important so give yourself a day off every now and again from your routine so your body can repair itself and be stronger to go again.

I’ve lost count of the amount of new and exciting gin bottles hitting the shelves this year and I know many of you will find the process of buying a Christmas gin quite daunting given all the new and magical flavours. Also, there are so many gorgeous bottle designs out there, and it’s easy to get carried away with aesthetics, so, to keep you on Santa’s GOOD List, I’ve not only found some gins that taste as good as they look, I’ve also added a St. Nikolas Cocktail and a Special Santa Gin for you to make at home!

Can’t have you drunk in charge of your sled, can we? So, let’s start with the gins! Whitley Neill have brought out the most magical Mince Pie Gin, which really launches strong aromas of rich, mince pies and a touch of citrus upon opening.

It is sweet on the palate with hints of mince pies and

raisins, cloves, cinnamon and nutmeg all adding to the Christmassy taste. With a hint of pine Christmas trees on the end, this gin is heartily recommended, but try it with soda instead of tonic if you find it too sweet.

Terry’s Chocolate Oranges were a special Christmas treat in our stockings and up until 2005, they were produced in the city of York. Stanna Wieclawska Kyriakou

Meet TRIO FRISSON if you haven’t already. A three-piece group based in Cyprus and one of the leading soul bands in Cyprus since 2012. They have a unique and individual sound, an easy feeling about them with a philosophical approach to their music, ’Find what you love and do what you love’ is what they believe and practise. They are three talented musicians whose open mindedness and quest to follow their own paths allows them to experiment with music. Their sound is an interflow of soul, blues and traces of hip hop with a fusion of their individual attributes and range of jazz, reggae and RnB influences. Their compilation of songs includes original pieces and covers created to

produce their sound. Their borrowed ideas and influences born from personal experiences unite and create their mood enhancing rhythms and songs which have positive and meaningful lyrics. Their aim to evoke emotion and excitement and energy in their audience at events has proved successful.

Trio Frisson are active as a band and as individuals,

and have performed at various music festivals on island, including Afro Banana, Fengaros, Windcraft festival and Farma Projekt and regularly at music venues.

The three members are Jamie Paul, Byron Athinodorou and Alex Papadopoulos.

Growing up in the UK, he was in several bands in his early years and now loves living in Cyprus as he believes there is ‘more space to breathe’ here. Donning a signature Yorkshire flat cap, inspired by his grandfather, he believes in the power of music and its magical force. Musical magician? Maybe!

Byron Athinodorou, on the Bass, has an impressive academic

background and in-depth musical career and has collaborated with many renowned musicians and artists. He currently teaches and collaborates with artists in Cyprus and abroad.

Alexander Papadopoulos on the drums, hails from New York City and is a multi-instrumentalist and is currently engaged in music production and engineering, song writing and performance. Three interesting and multi-talented individuals who together create this

brotherhood of musicians. Before I close and play some of their feelgood music, and in case you are wondering where the name TRIO FRISSON comes from; TRIO obviously refers to the three musicians and FRISSON, in French means to experience a wave of emotion and pleasure which is exactly what their music succeeds in doing.

Every evolution requires a revolution.

This sentence popped up while I was thinking about the importance of letting go of what no longer serves us. You cannot bring in new furniture if first you don’t make room for them. Say goodbye to the old sofa that has seen better days, be thankful because it provided you comfort during your movienights, and welcome the brand-new sofa that will make your living room look better and will offer you many and many hours of relaxation.

For the same reason why we must get rid of objects that do not serve us anymore, we also must let go of feelings, emotions, limiting beliefs, situations and relationships that are not for our highest good.

That friend who is

never available for you, but who holds against you the only time when you are not there for him/her. That job that you really dislike, where you do not feel supported and appreciated.

That idea or belief that you are not capable of succeeding in whatever you put your mind to. We need to remove all this from our life because we are bound to evolve. When we don’t do it, we end up surrounded and affected by the wrong relationships and situations that are not in alignment with our values, goals and purpose, that are not for our highest good and that hold us back from achieving our goals.

Choose not to get dragged down by those who are envious and cannot stand to see you shine. Choose to protect yourself from

the negative energy of toxic people by removing them from your life. Choose to make a change that will affect your life for good. Choose to level up. Start your own small revolution and get ready to evolve. And now, gorgeous, just go out there and start living your best life!

Sixteen years ago the Morton Family relocated from Essex to Paphos, with four young children.

Soon after arriving Peter and Debbie started PMR Cyprus. At first it was only going to be a small man with a van service but they soon

saw a huge gap in the removals industry. This was something Peter had done when he first left school.

From starting within their kitchen with a computer and just one van, they now boast 26 full time employees, 17 removal trucks and have a 7500 square meter storage facility incorporating the offices.

The storage facility holds over 700 storage crates starting from just 12 euros plus VAT per

week. They can also offer outside container storage if needed. They have vast amounts of open storage areas within the warehouse and outside for storage of vehicles, boats or oversized items. Post Brexit they have realized, as with all industries, the huge increase in costs with shipping and destination

services in the UK and indeed worldwide.

To this end they decided to look in to opening PMR UK!

They now have a storage facility in Essex, not the size of the Cyprus one but a solid base for future growth. They are running two vehicles and have five full time staff on board.

This makes them the only company both sides of the water owned by the same people. This is totally unique and it also allows them to be in full control of your shipments. The office staff whilst miles apart are working together as if in the same office. They offer the full in-house services to assist you with either Transfer of Residency (TOR) or if you are paying Duties & Taxes along with full car registration in Cyprus, should you require it.
