Práticas de imaginação coletiva Em um contexto global de uma retomada da noção de público e da constituição do comum, da falência de formas e espaços de fazer política tradicionais e institucionalizados, a imaginação de outras cidades possíveis acontece através da construção de lugares praticados, onde cidadãos se organizam de maneira coletiva para construir espaços em que se reconheçam, aqui e agora. As cidades em que queremos viver emergem, portanto, de práticas de fazer junto: espaços que reinventam e propõem outras formas de relação entre os atores ali presentes.

Desafios No entanto, fazer junto ainda é um desafio para alguns contextos; tanto no sentido da criação de espaços de participação quanto na criação de uma cultura da participação. Compreender a corresponsabilidade e esclarecer os papéis de cada um dos atores é fundamental, de forma a construir um terreno comum — sociedade civil, empresas, poder público/ Estado. Garantir o direito à cidade significa criar Parcerias Público-Sociais: criar e legitimar plataformas de escuta, diálogo e participação dos cidadãos que querem cuidar da sua cidade, de maneira a criar de fato uma gestão compartilhada dos espaços públicos e entender como micro e macro urbanismos podem cooperar.

Practices of collective imagination In a global context of public spaces’ reclaim and the constitution of the common, the death of politics’ traditional and institutionalized places, the imagination of other possible cities happens through the construction of practiced places, where citizens organize themselves in a collective manner to build spaces where they recognize themselves, here and now. The cities that we want to live emerge, therefore, of do it with others practices: spaces that reinvent and create other forms of relation between inhabitants and users.

Challenges However, doing it with others is still a challenge in some contexts; in relation to the creation of spaces of participation such as in the creation of a participation culture. Understanding the responsibility and clarifying the roles of each actor is fundamental, building a common ground: civil society, state, private owners, NGOs... To guarantee right to the city means to create PublicSocial Partnerships: to open up and legitimate listening, dialogue and participation platforms for citizens to make their city, generating a shared management of public spaces and giving tools to understand how micro and macro urbanisms can cooperate.

Somos um coletivo de pessoas que pensam e transformam lugares. Juntos, formamos uma rede interdisciplinar comprometida em construir cidades mais justas, inovadoras, democráticas, seguras, saudáveis e vibrantes. Fazemos isso através da atuação em espaços públicos em 3 eixos: Educação Urbana, Mão na Massa e Fazendo Junto.
We are a collective that think and transform places; people organized in a non lucrative institute. Together, we are part of a interdisciplinary network that is compromised into building more fair, innovative, democratic, safe, healthy and vibrant cities. We do it through the activation and improvement of public spaces in 3 axis: Urban Education, Hands On and Doing Together.

DOING TOGETHER AXIS Neste eixo, nos dedicamos a investigar como os diferentes atores de uma cidade podem compartilhar direitos e responsabilidades na gestão dos espaços públicos. Pesquisamos modelos possíveis de PPS (Parcerias Público-Sociais), como incentivar o cidadão a colaborar com seus talentos e habilidades na construção de uma cidade mais justa, democrática e diversa, e como orientar os investimentos privados pelo interesse público.
In this axis, we are dedicated to investigate how different actors of a city can share rights and responsibilities in the management of public spaces. We research possible models of PPS (Public and Social Partnerships, in portuguese), how to encourage citizens in collaborating with their talents and abilities in the construction of a more fair, democratic and diverse city, and how to orient private investment through public interest.
MACROMICRO MACROMICRO Como MACRO e MICRO urbanismos podem cooperar? A gestão compartilhada de espaços públicos é o foco das conversas do MACROMICRO, que traz convidados envolvidos em projetos que pensam e exercitam iniciativas de cooperação entre população e poder público na gestão de espaços públicos comuns. No mundo, estamos vivendo a multiplicação de grupos de cidadãos que querem cuidar de seus espaços públicos, exercer seu direito à cidade, reclamar o direito de usar o que é público. Uma vez que esses grupos ativam esses espaços e os tornam espaços comuns através de relações de vizinhança, qual o papel do poder público para seu suporte e garantia da infraestrutura necessária? O que se pode aprender com eles para que sua experiência possa ser amplificada a partir de políticas públicas?
How MACRO and MICRO urbanisms can cooperate? The shared management of public spaces is the focus on the discussions MACROMICRO, which brings guests involved in projects that think and practice initiatives of cooperation between population and public sector in the management of public common spaces. in the world, we are living the multiplication of groups of citizens that want to take care of their public spaces, exercise their right to the city, reclaim the right to using what is public. Once those groups activate this spaces and transform them into common spaces through relations of proximity with the neighbours, what is the role of public sector to their support and guarantee of necessary infrastructure? What can be learned with them so that their experience can be amplified through public policies?

THE AMSTERDAM APPROACH
AMSTERDAMMERS, MAKE YOUR CITY! Na abordagem de Amsterdam, a inovação não é somente um desafio tecnológico que é gerido de cima para baixo, mas um desafio social, que requere boa colaboração entre a gestão pública, instituições do conhecimento, comércio e indústria, e os residentes e iniciativas “bottom-up” da cidade. O prêmio financeiro do ICapital [± 3.7 million reais] está sendo utilizado para escalar os esforços de inovação da cidade com o programa de aceleração Amsterdammers, Maak je Stad! (moradores de Amsterdam, façam sua cidade!), que apóia fazedores da cidade, cidadãos ativos e empreendedores sociais que buscam melhorar a qualidade de vida da cidade. De 475 inscritos, 37 iniciativas foram selecionadas a participar de cursos e treinamentos por 6 meses nos campos de desenvolvimento estratégico, organização de projetos, comunicação e finanças.
In ‘the Amsterdam approach’ innovation is not solely a technological challenge that needs to be managed topdown, but as a social-societal challenge, which requires good collaboration between the municipality, knowledge institutions, businesses & industry, and the residents & bottom-up initiatives in the city. The financial award of iCapital [€ 950.000] is being used to scale up the city’s efforts on innovation with the accelerator program Amsterdammers, Maak je Stad!* (People of Amsterdam, Make your City!), which supports citymakers, active citizens and social entrepreneurs who try to improve the liveability of the city. Out of 475 applicants, 37 initiatives were selected to follow workshops and trainings for 6 months in the field of strategy development, project organization, communication and finance. *Promoted by the City of Amsterdam, Kennisland, Pakhuis de Zwijger and Waag Society, with the support of the Amsterdam Economic Board, Amsterdam Smart City, Amsterdam Institute for Advanced Metropolitan Solutions and the European Commission.
WE MAKE THE CITY FESTIVAL NÓS FAZEMOS A CIDADE De 20 a 24 de junho de 2018, a primeira edição do “Nós Fazemos a Cidade”: o festival que melhora as cidades vai acontecer em Amsterdam e na região metropolitana. A abordagem inclusive e de múltiplos atores de Amsterdam é o ponto de partida para este festival internacional, no qual habitantes, empresários, cientistas, especialistas, diretores, designers, startups de tecnologia, organizações sociais, e iniciativas regionais e locais se juntarão para abordar os desafios cotidianos urgentes na cidade de Amsterdam, área metropolitana, cidades da Europa e do mundo.

BATATALAB / MOBILIÁRIO URBANO PARA O LARGO DA BATATA ORGANIZAÇÃO: INSTITUTO A CIDADE PRECISA DE VOCÊ E VOLUNTÁRIOS DO MOVIMENTO A BATATA PRECISA DE VOCÊ
Contexto O Largo da Batata, após a Operação Urbana
Nova Faria Lima foi entregue à população como um grande deserto, com poucas mudas de árvores plantadas e nenhum mobiliário urbano. Em janeiro de 2014, surgiu o movimento A Batata Precisa de Você, reunindo moradores do entorno e frequentadores todas as sextas-feiras para ativar e melhorar o espaço do Largo: atividades culturais, plantio de vegetação nos canteiros, construção de mobiliários, intervenções efêmeras... Mais de 12 mil pessoas participaram pelas redes sociais. Em 2015 parte dos integrantes do movimento constituíram o Instituto A Cidade Precisa de Você, cujo primeiro projeto foi o Concurso BATATALAB, para a criação de mobiliário urbano permanente para o Largo.
Context The square “Largo da Batata” after Operation
Nova Faria Lima renewal was delivered to the population as a large desert, with few trees planted and no urban furniture at all. In January 2014, the movement A Batata Precisa de Você [The Potato Needs You], brought together neighbours and users of the area every Friday to activate and improve Batata: cultural activities, community gardens, DIY furniture, ephemeral interventions... More than 12 thousand people participated in this process through social media. In 2015, part of the integrants of the movement constituted the Institute The CIty Needs You, which first project was the competition BATATALAB, to the creation of permanent urban furniture to the square.

História O concurso premiou cada selecionado com
R$ 15.000,00 para a construção e implementação. Os mobiliários foram doados à Prefeitura de São Paulo na gestão 2013-2016, que acompanhou o processo do BATATALAB desde o princípio. A posteriori a Prefeitura alegou não ter capacidade para sua manutenção, trabalho realizado pelo Instituto, voluntários do A Batata Precisa de Você e premiados. A partir de 2017, com a nova gestão na Prefeitura, foram removidos dois dos mobiliários – Trançado e Ilha – assim como canteiros cultivados e conservados pelas Batatas Jardineiras. O grande desafio da gestão é criar instrumentos que permitam, estimulem e respeitem iniciativas cidadãs.

History The contest awarded each selected project
with R $ 15,000.00 for construction and implementation. The furniture was donated to the Municipality of São Paulo in the 2013-2016 mandate, which accompanied the BATATALAB process from the beginning. A posteriori the Municipality claimed not to be able to maintain it, work realized by the Institute, volunteers of The Potato Needs You and the contest winners. From 2017, with the new Municipality, two of the furniture – Trançado and Ilha – were removed, as well as the community gardens cultivated by the Batatas Jardineiras. The biggest challenge of the management is to create instruments that allow, stimulate and respect citizen initiatives.

PROGRAMA DE GESTÃO AMBIENTAL PARTICIPATIVO DO BORORÉ ORGANIZAÇÃO: AMIB - ASSOCIAÇÃO DE MORADORES DA ILHA DO BORORÉ, IMARGEM E COLABORADORES
Contexto O movimento existe desde 1998, quando é
criada a AMIB, fruto de uma articulação política e um cenário de mobilização e luta por melhorias para o bairro do Bororé. Consegue-se em 1998 a concessão de uso de uma das casas da EMAE (Empresa Metropolitana de Águas e Energia), na beira da represa, com apoio da Secretaria do Verde e do Meio Ambiente. Junto com o movimento artístico, é criado um projeto do centro cultural ecológico. Em 2006, sofre com uma desmobilização e o espaço deixa de ser usado. O espaço fica fechado até 2013, sendo ocupado pontualmente, quando surge uma oportunidade de reforma da casa no contexto da Virada Sustentável.
Context The movement exists since 1998, when AMIB is
created, born from a political articulation and a scenery of mobilization and fight for better life quality in Bororé neighbourhood. In 1998 they achieve the concession of one of EMAE’s (Company of Water and Energy) houses in the margin of the dyke, with the support of the Green and Environmental Secretariat. Together with the artistic movement, is created a project of environmental education and the cultural ecological centre. In 2006, it suffers from demobilization and the space is closed until 2013, being used sporadically, when it arises an opportunity to reform the house during the festival Virada Sustentável.
_Práticas/Practices Diversas tecnologias sociais e de baixo impacto ambiental são construídas e dão estrutura para usos como capoeira, hiphop, pacto latino, sarau, espaço de encontro e convivência, festivais, fóruns, cursos, atividades de contraturno escolar… O espaço tornase referência em permacultura, utilizando recursos locais e articulando uma rede de atores do bairro. História Em 2013, junto com a Secretaria do Verde
e a EMAE, é pedida uma permissão de uso do espaço por um final de semana da Virada Sustentável. É neste momento que a casa é ocupada, em parceria com diversos coletivos, escolas locais, voluntários, escoteiros, e é reformada: construindo-se uma tenda, um palco, mobilizando atores locais. É aberto um diálogo com a EMAE para cessão de uso do espaço em troca de cuidar e mantê-lo. No entanto, até hoje a Secretaria do Verde não legitima a concessão e não reconhece a iniciativa.

History In 2013, together with Green adn
Environmental Secretariat and EMAE, is asked the permission of using the space for a weekend of the Virada Sustentavel Festival. Then, the house is occupied and, with collectives, local schools, volunteers the house is reformed; building a tent, a . Is opened a dialogue with EMAE to concede the use of the space. However, until today the Public Sector did not legitimize the concession of the place and do not recognize the initiative.

TEATRO DE CONTÊINER MUNGUNZÁ / UTILIZAÇÃO PÚBLICA DE VAZIOS URBANOS ORGANIZAÇÃO: CIA MUNGUNZÁ DE TEATRO
Contexto Em 2011, o terreno do Teatro era ocupado
por casas populares, cortiços, pensões. Por estar no centro de São Paulo, em 2012, durante a gestão Kassab, o lugar foi parte do Projeto Nova Luz, que desapropriou, indenizou as famílias e demoliu os edifícios. Emergiram então vazios urbanos, doados para a construção do Museu da Democracia, que foi embargado na Justiça. Os vazios se mantêm, expectantes, até serem ocupados pela Guarda Municipal, que cerca, asfalta, retira as árvores restantes, e o ocupam como estacionamento de carros particulares. Em outubro de 2016, a companhia de teatro entra no terreno com a autorização da Prefeitura Regional da Sé para realizar o Festival de Performance Arquiteturando a Cidade.
Context In 2011, the terrain of the Theatre was
occupied by popular housing, slum tenements, pensions. By being in the centre of São Paulo, in 2012, the place was part of the project Nova Luz, which evicted, compensated some families and demolished the buildings. Emerged then empty lots, terrain vagues, donated for the construction of the Democracy Museum, which was blocked in justice. The empty lots remain, expectant until are occupied by the Municipal Guard, that fences it, asfalt it, eliminates the trees, and uses it for parking private owners’ cars. In october 2016, the theatre company enters in the terrain with authorization of the Regional Municipality of Sé to realize the Performance Festival Architecturing the City.
_Prática/Practices Mesmo sem dinheiro, a Cia de teatro tem feito muito: além do espaço ter se tornado articulador para resistência e construção coletiva do território, lá realizam atividades como espetáculos infantis, de dança, debates, cinema, exposições, shows, festas... Espaço em cena
História A Cia de teatro alugava um galpão para ensaio,
mas resolve então pegar parte da verba do edital público e reverter no espaço público. Em junho de 2016, mapeia terrenos, descobre o atual espaço e pede o terreno a Prefeitura para construir um teatro. Eles negam. Pede então para fazer um evento temporário, e conseguem: ocupa e constrói o teatro de contêiners em 2 meses. Uma instalação “provisória” que resiste até hoje. A maior força do projeto está na relação com o entorno: pessoas-chave aparecem e passam a colaborar com o espaço, cria-se uma rede de troca e construção coletiva. Mas falta a Prefeitura assumir que o Teatro está aqui.
Apropriação
History The theatre company rented a warehouse to
rehearse, but decides to take part of the money from the public investment and revert in public space. In june 2016, they map places downtown, discover the actual space and ask to Municipality the land to build a theater, who denied. The theatre company asks then to create a temporary event, and the Municipality agrees: the containers theatre is built in 2 months. A “provisional” installation that resists until today. The biggest strength of the project is in the relation with the context - key people start to collaborate; is created a network of exchange and collective construction. But still the Municipality did not assume the project is here.

CASA DA PRAÇA WALDIR AZEVEDO ORGANIZAÇÃO: INICIATIVA INFORMAL DA SOCIEDADE CIVIL EM PROPOSTA DA GESTÃO PARTICIPATIVA DA PRAÇA
Contexto A Praça Waldir Azevedo tinha uma casa que
estava abandonada havia 12 anos, com muito lixo e infiltração no interior da casa, acúmulo de água parada na laje e na caixa d´água descoberta (foco para dengue), vidros quebrados e paredes deterioradas, sem energia elétrica e água encanada. O equipamento público foi ocupado, reformado e passou a ser utilizado pela comunidade.
Context The Waldir Azevedo Square had a house that
was abandoned for 12 years, with a lot of garbage and infiltration inside the house, stagnant water in the slab (focus point for dengue), broken windows and damaged walls, no electric energy or piped water. The public equipment was occupied, reformed and began to be used by the local community.
_Prática/Practices São organizados mutirões de limpeza e manutenção da casa e do entorno da Praça envolvendo pintura, construção de mobiliário, tecnologias verdes como cisterna, bombas de sementes, brinquedos reciclados, grafite, biblioteca, além de projeções de filmes, festivais e festas, feiras de livros, debates, almoços coletivos… Articula-se com outros espaços autônomos e com o bairro, pensando a noção de um eco bairro. They organize mutirões (collective actions) for cleaning and repair on the house and the square itself, involving painting, building furniture, green technologies such as cistern, seed bomb, recicled toys, graffiti, library, besides organizing movie projection, festivals, parties, book fair, debates, collective lunch… They articulate with other autonomous spaces in the city and the neighbourhood _Parceiros/Partners São feitas parcerias pontuais quando ocorrem eventos. The partnerships are made when are organized events _Viabilização/Support As atividades realizadas na casa e na Praça são todas de natureza colaborativa. O único financiamento foi para a reforma da casa, em 2015, com verba de uma emenda parlamentar. The activities happen in the house and in the square in a collaborative manner. História A proposta inicial foi de que a casa abrisse
suas portas para uso da população, promovendo e acolhendo atividades de natureza pública, como foi feito ao longo de toda ocupação. Aos poucos a iniciativa começou a discutir dinâmicas de uso e ocupação de espaços públicos - formas de gestão que envolvam a comunidade local no processo decisório. O movimento ganhou status de Grupo de Trabalho na última gestão do CADES-PI (Conselho de Meio Ambiente, Desenvolvimento Sustentável e Cultura de Paz - Pinheiros). Hoje está em vias de requerer o cadastramento do Comitê de Usuários, nos termos da Lei Municipal no. 16212/15, Art. 3º “Participação dos cidadãos (...) na implantação, revitalização, requalificação, fiscalização, uso e conservação das praças públicas.”

History The initial purpose was that the house was
opened for people’s use, promoting and hosting public activities, as happened through the whole period of occupation. Little by little, the initiative started to discuss public space’s use and occupation dynamics ways of management that involve the local community in the decision making. The movement adquired status as Working Group in the CADES-PI (Environment, Sustainable Development and Culture of Peace Council, in the neighbourhood of Pinheiros). Realizando um trabalho de campo artístico, experiências e aprendendo com um saber esquecido, De Onkruidenier cria nova interpretações sobre a relação com as plantas e a natureza.
Context The Openlucht Buurtsupermarkt explores the
dimension of wild plants in nature, giving them new meaning in our daily lives, acting as foraging grocers. Doing artistic fieldwork, experiments and learning from forgotten knowledge, De Onkruidenier creates new interpretations on our relationship with plants and nature.

História O projeto do mercado De Onkruidenier
Openlucht Buurtsupermarkt é o primeiro mercado ao ar livre da Holanda e estará localizado no shopping Boven ‘t IJ no norte de Amsterdam. No jardim, os residentes do entorno poderão aprender sobre plantas (selvagens) e ervas, conhecer um ao outro e degustar a natureza urbana. O mercardo ao ar livre mostra aos habitantes de Amsterdam que a comida sustentável não é só cultivada no interior, mas também na cidade. Nos últimos anos, o interesse no verde na cidade está aumentando consideravelmente. De Onkruidenier vê esse desenvolvimento como um impulso importante para a iniciativa: “Desde 2014, De Onkruidenier trabalha para uma perspectiva diferente das ervas do solo holandês. Além disso, trabalhamos para o desenvolvimento local de produtos sustentáveis que contem sua própria sobre o ambiente. Através de uma pesquisa artística sobre possíveis aplicações das plantas que existem no nosso ecossistema, nós queremos oferecer uma nova perspectiva da flora holandesa em relação à cidade.”

History De Onkruidenier’s Openlucht Buurtsupermarkt
Buikslotermeerplein project is the first open air supermarket of the Netherlands and will be located at Boven ‘t IJ shopping centre in Amsterdam-North. In the garden, residents of the area can learn about (wild) plants, weeds and herbs, get to know one another and test-taste urban nature. The open air supermarket shows Amsterdammers that sustainable food is not only grown in the countryside, but also in the city. In recent years, interest in green in the city has increased considerably. De Onkruidenier sees this development as an important driver behind their initiative: “Since 2014, De Onkruidenier has been working for a different perspective on useful herbs from Dutch soil. Besides, we are working to develop local sustainable products that tell their own story about the environment. By doing artistic research into possible applications of plants that exist in our environment, we want to offer a new perspective on the Dutch flora in relation to the city. “

História BOOST voor Talenten é um projeto do BOOST,
uma comunidade de residentes e refugiados no Leste de Amsterdam trabalhando para a integração de refugiados na sociedade Holandesa. O projeto é uma continuação do HOOST Mauritskade, uma instalação de alojamento temporário em Oosterparkbuurt, onde um grupo de mais de 30 refugiados realizaram um abrigo, com um apoio abrangente de bairros do Leste de Amsterdam. A iniciativa demonstrou que abrigos de pequena escala, “de baixo para cima” são possíveis. BOOST Ringdijk é um espaço de novos trabalhos e encontro para refugiados e residentes locais se conhecerem e trabalharem juntos no desenvolvimento de programas e atividades que possam ajudá-los a participar na sociedade. É uma abordagem que pode ajudar o rec´ém-chegado – e os residentes locais – a prepararem o caminho e ter um grande boom.
Integration project
History BOOST voor Talenten is a project by BOOST,
a community of local residents and refugees in Amsterdam East working towards the integration of refugees into Dutch society. The project is a continuation of HOOST Mauritskade, the temporary housing facility in the Oosterparkbuurt, where a group of more than 30 refugees realized a shelter location, with broad support from the neighborhoods of Amsterdam East. The initiative has shown that small-scale, bottom-up shelter is possible. BOOST Ringdijk is the temporary new work and meetingspace for refugees and local residents to get to know each other, and work together in developing programs and activities that can help to participate in society. It is an approach that can really help the newcomer – and the local residents themselves – to pave the way and get a huge boost.

VERTICAL FARMS / VERTICAL FARMS ORGANIZAÇÃO: BEMSTUDIO, A LAB, THE COFFEE VIRUS
Contexto A Lab é um espaço para start-ups,
desenvolvedores tecnológicos, animadores, jogo, designers interativos e de aplicativos, fazedores e pensadores com uma visão única e criativa. BemStudio está desenvolvendo um projeto de fazendas verticais em parceria com A Lab e The Coffee Virus, com subsídio da MaakjeStad da cidade de Amsterdam para realizar um programa educativo para crianças. Seu objetivo é realizar uma revolução verde no espaço, de modo a aproximar as pessoas da comida fresca.
Context A Lab is a place for start-ups, tech developers,
animators, game, app and interactive designers, do-ers, makers and thinkers with a unique creative vision. BemStudio is developing the vertical farming project in partnership with A Lab and The Coffee Virus, with subsidy from MaakJeStad from the City of Amsterdam to realize an educative program for children. Their aim is to make a green revolution in A Lab space in order to bring people and fresh food closer together.
_Prática/Practices A Fazenda Vertical combina o cultivo com programas educativos. É utilizado lámpadas de LED com aquaponia para cultivar vegetais e plantas de interior. Ao longo do tempo, as fazendas verticais serão instaladas dentro ou em locais próximos de escolas, para que os estudantes possam aprender a cultivar vegetais, se aproximar de novas tecnologias, e ser parte de um movimento que investiga como questões urbanas podem ser resolvidas através de fazendas urbanas. Vertical Farms combines cultivation with education programmes. It uses LEDlighting and aquaponics to grow vegetables and plants indoors. comunidade provém 180 hortaliças para os almoços do The Coffee Virus and irá ensinar 500 estudantes sobre o futuro da comida. A Vertical Farm não vai somente produzir uma deliciosa variedade de saladas, mas ensinar os estudantes sobre a Fazenda (Escola) Vertical, unindo a comunidade em um esforço conjunto de entender como a comida é feita, e como novas tecnologias podem ajudar a construir um ecossistema da produção de comida mais sustentável e limpo.

History The community funded and run vertical
farm provides us 180 crops of salad for the lunches of The Coffee Virus and will teach 500 students about the future of food. The Vertical Farm will not only produce a delicious variety of salad, but will also teach students about Vertical (School) Farming, joining the community in a shared effort to understand how food is made, and how new technologies can help building a more sustainable and clean ecosystem around food production.

Contexto Kolenkitbuurt é um bairro construído
pouco tempo depois da 2a guerra mundial, seguindo os príncipios da cidade-jardim, e é hoje ocupado por 7000 pessoas, muitas delas imigrantes. A área sofreu um processo de abandono: em 2004 foi proclamada como o bairro menos popular de Amsterdam, com todos os indicadores de qualidade de vida em vermelho – desemprego, pobreza, crime de jovens e um alto índice de jovens que largaram o ensino médio.
Context Kolenkitbuurt is a neighbourhood built
shortly after the 2nd world war, following the garden city principles, and is today occupied by 7,000 people, many of them immigrants. The area had fallen into despair: in 2004 was proclaimed the least popular neighbourhood in Amsterdam, with all “liveability” indicators in the red – unemployment, poverty, youth crime and a high rate of high-school drop-outs.
_Prática/Practices Junto com os residentes do bairro de Kolenkit, o Kolenkit Centrale desenvolve 3 projetos relacionados aos temas jardinagem, cozinha e resíduo. Os habitantes que são introduzidos a jardinagem criaram o jardim-cozinha local, no qual chefs locais desenvolvem produtos alimentícios locais, e as crianças do bairro exploram-no em investigações do lixo. Uma vez que os projetos estão relacionados, as idéias dos residentes de circularidade, participação e autoconfiança aumentam. Together with residents of Kolenkit neighborhood, the De Kolenkit Centrale develops three projects around the related themes of gardening, cooking and waste. Residents who are into gardening create the BuurtMoesBinnenTuin (local kitchen garden), local chefs develop BuurtProducten (local food products), and children from the neighborhood explore the neighborhood in AfvalSpeurtochten (waste quests). História Em 2007, o bairro foi escolhido para um
programa intensivo para prevenir ghettoização e coletar idéias para melhorar a qualidade de vida. O ganhador do concurso (o coletivo interdisciplinar Cascoland) teve a oportunidade e um suporte financeiro operacional para, em 8 meses, executar um plano para provar o valor do bairro. O projeto foi oferecer ao bairro um casco vazio (uma moldura) de facilitação e habilidades artisticas que deram sentido para e pela comunidade local. Cascoland trabalhava na área de Kolenkit há 3 anos, portanto eles já eram conhecidos pela maioria dos atores da área, fato que criou as pré-condições para uma taxa maior de envolvimento local.

History In 2007 the neighbourhood was targetted with
an intensified programme to prevent ghettoization and gather ideas on improving its liveability. The winner of the call (the interdisciplinary collective Cascoland) had the opportunity and an operational budget to, in 8 months, execute a plan to prove their value to the neighbourhood. The project was to provide the neighbourhood with an empty casco (“frame”) of facilitation and artistic skills that is given meaning to and by the local community. Cascoland had already been working in the Kolenkit area for 3 years, so they were already known by major stakeholders in the area, what created the preconditions for a higher degree of local involvement.
