Per 1 March 2022, Matthijs van Doorn succeeded Emile Hoogsteden as Vice President Commercial. In the preceding seven years, Mr Van Doorn was responsible for developing the hinterland network as Director Logistics. In the past two years, he was also involved in setting up the digital strategy and responsible for the digital portfolio of the Port of Rotterdam Authority. Mr van Doorn has gained extensive experience in logistics. Before joining the Port of Rotterdam Authority he had worked in various commercial positions at TNT.

On Thursday 28 April, marine robotics technology specialist Greensea announced a strengthening to its management team with the appointment of Rob Howard as Chief Growth Officer, currently VP Growth & Strategy for Greensea’s sister company Armach Robotics. Mr Howard’s appointment to Greensea in this newly created role will ensure the company is able to exploit its future potential within the business of marine robotics. Blue Water Shipping has set its sights on strengthening the position in the Norwegian market. The company has turned to Morten Würgler, appointing him the new General Manager Sea & Air, Norway. Mr Würgler brings more than 20 years of broad international business and logistics experience within airfreight, sea freight, perishables and customer service. He has great international knowhow from both Denmark, Houston, Texas and Norway under titles of Sales Executive and Senior Director in similar corporations to mention a few.

Simpson Spence Young (SSY) has confirmed that Head of Dry Cargo, Stanko Jekov, will be taking over as Senior Partner following Mark Richardson’s announcement that he will retire at the end of this year. Mr Jekov, who has been with SSY since 2002 and was made Partner in 2010, has led the Dry Cargo department since 2016. Over the last six years the department has seen significant growth with expansion into new offices including Dubai, Copenhagen, Varna, Geneva, Sao Paulo and most recently Athens, which opened in January 2022.
CSignum announces Mark Rhodes as Chief Technical Officer. Mr Rhodes joins the startup at a critical point in its development as it finalises design, testing and go-to-market for the HydroFi modem, the first reliable point-to-point wireless underwater communications system that enables the transmission of data through the water-air boundary. CSignum’s patented communication, monitoring and navigational platform and solution is designed to help the underwater observing, water quality, offshore wind, oil and gas, and aquaculture industries scale to deliver data wherever it needs to be in adverse conditions.
The targeted expansion of Schottel’s international network of subsidiaries developed further with the foundation of Schottel East Asia located near Busan. In addition to the growing market in South Korea, business development of the German propulsion expert will now also be intensified in Japan. Business operations were launched in April 2022. Seongki Han has been appointed General Manager of Schottel East Asia. He brings to his new role extensive experience and expertise in the area of ship propulsion, based on a broad educational background as well as on 20 years of sales experience.

This strategic appointment represents the appointment of the first dedicated Marine Division Manager in the UK and Ireland region by Alfa Laval. In the new role, Mr Matthews will hold responsibility for driving partnerships with leading UK customers in the marine industry with a strong focus on sustainability, decarbonization, future fuels and alternative technologies.
