We all have them. Those random contacts in your phone, some of them names you don’t even recognize, let alone remember how you know them. Maybe it’s that one classmate from political science freshman year, or it could be that awful first date you had a few years back. Regardless, the number needs to go. But, like many of us, there’s a ton of names to go through, and you just don’t have the time to do it. That’s where “Cinder” comes in. In what basically amounts to Tinder for your contacts, “Cinder” presents you with a contact and displays the name, number and other identifying information. Wanna keep them? Swipe right! Need to purge them? As Beyoncé once sang, “To the left. To the left.” “Cinder” simplifies the culling of your contacts in a very efficient manner. But in the off chance you swiped left on a close friend or maybe changed your mind about that on-again, off-again significant other, you’re in luck. You can review the left swipes and reverse the previous decision. It’s as simple as that. So download “Cinder” today, and swipe your way to a cleaner, and less regrettable, contact list.

MOVIE REVIEW

One of the latest Marvel movies, “Avengers: Infinity War,” definitely packs a punch. This film manages to capture our attention down to the last few seconds of the total 150 minutes. Although categorized as merely an action movie, co-directors Joe and Anthony Russo have created a thrilling masterpiece that keeps the audience guessing. We’ve long been awaiting the revenge of Thanos since Thor (2011), and he does not disappoint. Throughout the action-filled movie, all our favorite heroes and heroines unite to prevent Thanos from wreaking havoc on all of mankind. But will all that star power be enough? If you’ve been following the Marvel timeline for the past decade, you’ve seen the strong development of characters and plot line. The growth of each personality has shaped our view and strengthened our bond to them, and Marvel has done an outstanding job with this tricky task. The Russo brothers were able to achieve a captivating plot featuring over 70 characters, many of which have deep connections to the audience while leaving no room for snoozing. The film is rated PG 13, and there is a good amount of violence throughout the movie, so watch at your discretion.

ALBUM REVIEW After years of waiting, fans can finally experience Noname’s sophomore album, “Room 25.” Noname first released her debut album, “Telefone,” in 2016, and it quickly gained a hip hop and rap cult following. The Chicago native used the developmental years after her first album to create her second. Named after her busy lifestyle of living hotel room to hotel room, “Room 25” still holds the quintessential sound of Noname that blends her poignant voice and rap skills with influences of jazz and soul. Noname is a talented rapper and poet that showcases her newfound confidence in the male dominated genre of hip hop.

ARTIST: Noname ALBUM: Room 25

A lot of the album touches on issues of being a black woman in a crowded and typecast industry. Noname is a master of word play and hilariously sprinkles in the story of her new-found fame within “Room 25.” While listening to this album, you will hear features of rising rap and hip hop artists such as Ravyn Lanae, Saba, and Smino. Noname remains an independent artist, and her music reflects the creative freedom she possesses with her comically real lyrics. “Room 25” is honest and explicitly reveals the pitfalls of fame and the strength of female power

Wynonna & The Big Noise at Texas Reds by Justin Walker

The Texas Reds Steak & Grape Festival is always a major attraction for Downtown Bryan. But with this year’s musical lineup, we could be in for the biggest year yet. Wynonna & The Big Noise will headline the festivities, performing Friday, Sept. 28, at 9:30 p.m. on the main stage. The group, led by legendary country star Wynonna Judd, will help kick off Texas Reds with Judd’s powerful vocals and stage presence. Judd’s career dates back to the early 80s, when she and her mother Naomi rose to fame as the country music duo The Judds. She performed solo for the first time in January, 1992, when she broke out in a big way. Her self-titled debut album included four number one singles, including the number one country song of 1992, “No One Else on Earth.” Since then, Judd has continued to produce quality music. In 2011, she debuted her new band, Wynonna & The Big Noise, which includes her husband, Cactus Moser, as drummer. The group released their most recent self-titled album in February, 2016. While Judd’s appearance at Texas Reds is sure to be a crowd pleaser, there are several other exciting acts performing at this year’s event. Clayton Gardner will lead things off, performing at 7:30 p.m. Friday night, also on the main stage. Saturday will feature an all-day line up, with the iHeartMedia Acoustic Cafe Live Music event. Performances begin at 11 a.m. with Julie Weir and Jacob Ryan Marshall, and will continue every hour. Ben Morris & Eric Fisher of Great American Box Car will end the showcase as they take the stage at 7 p.m. that evening.

by Justin Walker

The music continues Sunday afternoon as the Greg Tivis Nawlins Jazz Band performs at the Bryan Broadcasting Palace Theater. The show runs from noon until 3 p.m. A full list of performances and the festival schedule can be found on Texas Reds’ website. As always, Texas Reds will be a must-attend event. Don’t miss your chance to see Wynonna & The Big Noise, as well as all of the other performers. Get your tickets today!
