Rock Away CF The Beau Means Business Foundation is holding its annual benefit concert, Rock Away Cystic Fibrosis, in Downtown Bryan this weekend. Cystic Fibrosis (CF) is a genetic disorder that is known for building thick mucus in the lungs and pancreatic ducts. The thick mucus can be a breeding ground for bacteria, causing infections in the lungs and damaging lung tissue over time. 30,000 people in the United State have CF, and one in 29 people are carriers for the gene. BMBF strives to improve the quality of life for those affected by CF and their families. Rock Away Cystic Fibrosis is a benefit concert that helps raise awareness of CF and raises funds to contribute to CF research and people in our community with CF. There will be a silent auction, local food vendors and businesses, a kid zone, and live music.

and the winners are... The results are in! This year, out of thousands upon thousands of votes—the highest number of votes ever recorded—there were some of the closest wins ever tallied. In fact, one business won first place by only 1 vote! Of course, we won't tell you who that was; but we can tell you this: businesses that placed first, second, and third should be proud. Extremely proud. Best of BCS 2014 was a race to the finish line for everyone competing. This year, Best of BCS categories expanded from 50 to 78, with many new businesses entering the poll. Everything from Best Fitness Studio, Best Sno Cones, and Best Shoe Store, to Best Realtor, Best Wine Bar, and even Best Local French Fries jockeyed for votes against other businesses in their category—businesses with equally adamant, loyal costumers. We want to be the first to congratulate all of this year's contenders, and we also want to thank readers for telling BCS, once again, who's best. Are you ready for the winners? Drum roll, please....

It’s usually in one door, throw down a shot, and out the other door. The Dry Bean’s extensive menu of signature shots, such as The Cop Killer (for the sweet tooth) and The Snake Bite (for those who want to go hardcore), has been upgraded over the past year to include even more tasty shots and shooters.

BEST MEXICAN FOOD 1 - Casa Rodriguez Runners-up:
[ 23 -- Chuy’s Papa Perez
Casa Rodriguez is a regional institution of Mexican food. We say institution because its legacy of cooking is older than anyone here—over 100 years old to be exact. In 1898, a 6’1’’ tall Mexican man named Manuel Rodriguez came to Bryan from Mexico to work on the railroads, and at the age of 20 he started cooking his first Mexican dishes for early settlers and workers. If only he were alive today, to take the trophy yet again for being the best.

We do know one thing: they have some great sushi specials. If you’re hankering for raw food, sit at the bar and start a conversation with one of the sushi chefs. They like to custom make your sushi orders, since sometimes the best sushi at Atami isn’t even on the menu—it’s in your own head.

But the best part? They bring it to you.

BEST CHICKEN FINGERS 1 - Layne’s Runners-up:
Cane’s [ 23 -- Raising Wings ‘N More
Layne’s took home the award for Best Chicken Fingers again this year. With their customers being 80% Aggies, their self-proclaimed “dumpy” building has attracted a lot of attention since 1994. The Aggie owned and operated business has become an icon in College Station. With their discordant mismatched interior and not-so-sturdy building, the cooks fry up a storm of perfectly fried chicken fingers.
