Introduction

Client Our clients are a couple in their thirties with a young child who is about to start primary school. They will most likely remain a single child family and hope that he will continue to live with them as he grows up. Their small dog also resides with the family. The couple are keen to entertain at home and have creative and sporting interests. They enjoy an urban lifestyle and now also require a work from home space due to recent changes. They have a few treasured items which include a chair, a mirror and artwork which needs to be integrated into the design. These pieces represent their interest in Australian, local and sustainable design.

Site The site is located at 95 Sutherland Street, Paddington, Sydney. It was built in 1890 and sits in a row of matching Victorian terraces which is typical of the area. The site has gone through numerous owners, renovations and upgrades. Since 2014, the terrace has not changed and this is the current design plans we will be working with. The location and age of the building requires careful consideration of heritage and restrictions as well as our own responsibilities when working with historic design.

They are looking for a space where light is considered, where there is a key relationship between the interior and exterior. The design needs to function around the central staircase which connects the multiple levels. Sustainable sourcing is important to
