Police murder a mystery “
Fullscale investigation launched to search for killers Teboho Setena
A MEMBER of the Welkom Crime Prevention Unit, Const. Mbuyisela James Concoshi (34), was found murdered on Monday (18/01) at about 07:45 on the rear seat of his private vehicle. The Welkom Police are appealing for the public’s assistance in their investigation into the mystery surrounding his murder. Lt. Malebo Khosana, the Thabong Police spokesperson, said Concoshi’s vehicle, a Polo Classic, was found parked on the side of the M4, which borders the Riebeeckstad suburb and Thandanani, a newly-established residence in Thabong. “We are appealing to any person who has information that could lead to the arrest and possible prosecution of Concoshi’s killers to come forward. “It is unclear if he was killed elsewhere and his body and vehicle moved to the scene along the road. “He was lying on his side in the rear seat of the car and had a severe open wound on the left side of his head,” he said. Khosana said it was suspected that Concoshi had been assaulted and strangled to death by his attackers. “He had visible scars on his neck. “A blunt object was used with great force to hit him on the head.” Khosana said what was mysterious about Concoshi’s murder, was that the attackers had taken nothing from the vehicle. “Cash was found in the vehicle and the key was still in the ignition.” According to Khosana, the motive for the murder is unknown. The Hawks in Welkom have launched a full-scale investigation to search for the killers. Concoshi was off duty when he was attacked and killed.
Lt.Gen. Mthandazo Ntlemeza, the national head of the Hawks, reacted with dismay regarding Concoshi’s murder. “We have said it before, that killing a police officer is declaring war against the state. “Killing a police officer is threatening the security of the country and we will never allow cold-blooded criminals to run riot in our country. “We are hunting the suspects and we will find them. “We are determined to remove them from society. “Their days of tormenting our officers are numbered,” Ntlemeza said. Another police member, Arthur Mabaso, was also mysteriously killed on 19 November 2012. As with Concoshi, Mabaso’s killers did not take the state vehicle he was using. The vehicle and Mabaso’s body were found near the Tugela Circle in St Helena at about 03:30 by on-duty Welkom Crime Prevention Unit members. His attackers left him for dead with severe wounds to the head, neck and on both knees. Until now, no one has been convicted to bring closure to Mabaso’s gruesome murder. The slayed officer’s wife, Nthabeleng Mabaso, and her mother, Mathabiso Taledi, were acquitted of charges allegedly conspiring to murder a number of state witnesses in the case of the deceased Mabaso. They were charged with murder and conspiracy to murder. Mabaso held the position of captain at the Welkom Vehicle Identification Unit.
