The Reserve team went 15-2 this year, losing their two games at the very end of the season. This record gave them the KTC title, an awesome accomplishment! Our reserve team got little credit for a season well done, and we would like to take the time now to congratulate them on their outstanding season. I hope you're ready for varsity, because we're going to need you next year! The Reserves had a new coach this year, Steve York. He did an awesome job with both the Reserve and Varsity. Thanks for everything!

Coach Schafer thanks for a great year!

This year's freshman team has a lot to be proud of. Though they played only a few games, the girls practiced hard throughout the whole season. Each freshman should be proud of the great improvement they made this year. Congratulations for a job well done!

Waynesville's Friday Night Football was again a prime attraction for fans . Despite the 5¡5 record, the crowd was still very supportive. The Spartans opened the season with an impressive victory over the visiting Blanchester. Unfortunately, the Spartans went on a 5 game losing streak. Two of these losses were against Little Miami and KTC rival, Cedarville, which were both quali¡ fiers to the State Playoffs. Jeff Osborne broke the school record with a 68-yard punt return, and Pat Foley broke the school record for the most passing completions of 158 and the record for the most passing yards of 2,444 (career records). KTC League honors went to Pat Foley, Ben Malcolm, Jeff Osborne, Sean Hice, and Lonnie Biddle. Larry Cornett and Kevin Dakin received Honorable Mention honors. As a team, they were second in the KTC.

Couneel from the coach.

It all started years ago. There were a couple of Waynesville students, Jason Praeter and Mike Litherland, who swam on a swim team at Countryside YMCA in Lebanon. They knew several students who swam on high school swim teams, and they decided that they wanted to represent Waynesville High School in the world of OHSAA swimming and diving at the state meet each year. Ever since then, an elite few have made a name for Waynesville High School in the swimming world. Nine athletes total have swam for W .H.S. over the years. Every year they compete in the OHSAA Sectionals, Districts, and State meets in addition to an invitational called the Classic. This year Zach Meixner, Ryan Hartsock, Jill Hartsock, and Jennifer Hartsock made up the W .H.S. team which was coached for the first time by Robert Birelines. At the Classic Jen and Jill both placed in the "SWEET 16." All of the swimmers then competed at the OHSAA Sectionals from which Zach, Jill, and Jen qualified for the Districts. Zach swam the 100-yd. breatstroke; Jill, the 100·yd. butterfly and backstroke; and Jen, the 100-yd butterfly. Then, to no one's surprise, Jen qualified for the STATE CHAMPIONSHIP for the 3rd year straight. She placed 6th in the State, blazing through the water with a time of 59.22. This brought the season to an end except for the YMCA Nationals in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, Let'• Go! during spring break. Now we look to the future. Next year Jen will be a senior; it is her last chance to be Waynesville's next State Champ, following in the footsteps of Marty Hubbell and Jason Praeter. And will we possibly see four athletes represent Waynesville at the State Meet next year? We will have to wait and see.

57

The Spartan basketball team started a new tradition in 92·93 under a new head coach, Mike Gordon. The Spar· tans began the season with new found pride and some key injuries. Pat Foley and Benji Malcolm both started the season on the injured list, and Benji never did make it back. Ryan Cook and T.J. Muselin were the only returning starters. They were joined by Sean Hice, Todd Daniels, and Carl Gross to start out the year. Pat Foley returning half way through the season and the strong bench play of seniors Todd Aicken and Larry Cornett along with juniors Andy Carney, Craig Morgan and Tony Pooler contributed to the late season success. An addition was made when sophomore "sensation" Mike Cessna was brought up from tne re· serve team. Sophomore Todd Butter· baugh added additional strength for most of the season. The Spartans felt very successful about their season as they achieved the goals set at the beginning. They gave 110% every time they went out on to the court, which resulted in the im· provement of each individual and the team as a whole. By focusing on team goals and not scoreboards these ac· complishments led to a much consid· ered success.

This year was a great prom. Larry Cornett and Brooke Mill· er reign over as king and queen. Everyone really enjoyed them· selves. The Jack Nicholas Cen· ter was a great place to have our final prom. The juniors did a great job of organizing it. It was definitely memorable. Thanks a lot. We'll never forget it.

THANKS A MILLION

Office Hours By Appomtment

The 1993 Yearbook Staff and Advisor, Mrs. Wolfe, would like to sincerely credit the many businesses and persons who financially helped us by placing ads in our yearbook. We wanted to show our appreciation again this yearby not placing your ads at the end of the book. In addition, we also had the help of the parents of the Class of 1993. They showed the1r support with their "Ads for Grads." And to the Class of 1993 we extend a very spec1al thanks and best wishes for a prosperous future. With this support we were able to add 12 additional pages which were needed badly to cover all the new activities and sports which have been added at Waynesville High School.
