WAYNESVILLE HIGH SCHOOL
Dedication October 18, 1998 The Orange and the Black by Jeanette Janney Hadley Oh, W.H.S. we love you For the learning you bestow For the spacious halls and classrooms And the joys that here we know. All the classe ha\ e their color o honor shall the) lack. While Waynesville stands defender Of the Orange and the Black. In" ork and play we're loyal From these we'll never stray Through four long years of high school We'll ne'er forget those days. In athletics we're victorious On baseball field or track. And we'll always root for Waynesville And the Orange and the Black.
Mina Marion, Mary Robillard, Ashley Parriman, Emily Gabbard, Crystal Stacy, Betsy Robillard, Joanna Miller, Farran Eide, and Erin Bertolini represented Waynesville High School at the dedication and ribbon-cutting ceremony.
With our high school day behind us When we've started on life's way Should our dearest hopes betray us, False fortunes fall our way, Then we'll banish care and sadness As we turn our memories back, And recall those days of gladness ' eath the Orange and the Black.

Congratulations to the WHS Class of 1999 ' The objective of the Waynesville Athletic Boosters is to provide support for all athletes at WHS as they participate in athletic competition. Our booster membership has grown and our challenges are met with outstanding adm inistrative leadership to build new and better facilities on our campus for all to be proud . Our new school brings a magnificent gymnasium to compete in basketball, the new tennis courts now provide for home matches, the baseball and softball backstops have been upgraded and the new grass infield on the baseball field has been very well received . Soccer will have its own field and there is more to come. As the new track is installed , the Boosters, working in concert with the School Board and the Waynesville Athletic Facilities Committee, will be completing the construction of a new football stadium that will make all very proud . Never before will so many new facilities be available for so many sports as virtually everyone is affected positively. The good part is you will leave WHS having shared many intense and extremely competitive contests and you have represented us in stellar fashion . We are proud of you all and can only hope your experience at WHS now finds you with a special sense of loyalty, pride and accomplishment. You have served the Spartan colors with dignity and we take great pleasure to extend our very best wishes to you as you continue life's journey. May God Bless you always. Betty Robertson - Secretary Mike Couch - President Larry Nelson - Vice President Sandy Curtis - Treasurer Tim Gabbard - Athletic Director

CONGRATULATIONS RETIREES Mrs. Linda Clark Mrs. Yutonia Armstrong Mr. Charles Williams Mrs. Pat Mason Mrs. Bert Wolfe Mr. Paul Bower
The Departin' Spartans ... *(sing to the tune of "The Beverly Hillbillies") We're here to honor our retirees We're still not sure if we w1ll let them leave We've grown attached to them in many ways They want to go, but we want them to stay school, that is -- Wayne Local -- Home of The Spartan! When we need spirit, we count on Pat She's so energetic and wears many hats Teaches reading by day, teaches danc1ng by mght Whatever she tackles, she does it with might Go, Pat, go -- w1th your beau! When Yutonia leaves, will Home Ec be the same? Will anyone cook or use a quilt frame? Will we hear crymg babies m all the hallways? We really don't think so, but we can all pray Countdown, Yutonia -- till you're in Flonda! Mr. Bower has served many years We've shared his corny jokes and shared his tears He walks to school, never gams a pound He taught the tennis game to many in town Thank Paul -- have a ball! There's so much we can say about good ole' Bert She knows her students and she knows the dirt She's so devoted, travels many miles We'll miss her laughter and we'll sure miss her smile Thank you, Bert -- stay bright and pert! We're so proud of our librarian She's packed and moved the library, again She kept up with the new computer rage She's still as pretty and she sure doesn't age Thank you, Linda -- won't forget ya'! Now let us tell you 'bout a man named Chuck He built new schools and he stretched the buck He gave us awards at the end of the year For all your hard work, we w111 stand up and cheer Thank you, Chuck -- wish you luck! Song lyrics created by Denise Richmond, School Nurse
156
We will cherish every memory and keep you in our hearts. God Bless, Waynesville Spartans
