Welcome to the annual 2017 Master Builders Wide Bay Burnett Housing & Construction Awards winners’ magazine.
This year is extra special because we’re celebrating 30 years of the Awards success and prestige. Each year the Awards continue to attract hundreds of quality entries from across Queensland and 2017 has been no exception.
The range of projects reflect the high standards and exceptional skills of Wide Bay Burnett’s Master Builders. Judges scrutinised the winners based on a stringent list of criteria such as quality of workmanship, degree of construction difficulty, external appeal, siting and aspect, and amenities and aesthetics.
It is a promising sign for the building and construction industry to have so many quality winners. Each winner has put their business, product and workmanship under scrutiny as part of an extremely competitive process.
This year we also welcomed three new Award categories for Diversity, the Institute of Building Consultants, and Bluescope Best Use of Steel Frame Housing.
For homeowners considering a new home, renovation or addition to an existing home, there is sure to be some inspiration among these pages. For the commercial sector, these projects highlight Wide Bay Burnett’s best commercial builders with specialist staff, contractors and consultants.
Since 1882, Master Builders has been the voice of the industry, representing the interests of our members and the broader
industry. We are the number-one source of practical and relevant information to the industry and consumers. We have also helped thousands of builders and trade contractors to operate professional and profitable businesses that deliver superior quality outcomes to their customers.
The outstanding craftsmanship on display as part of the Master Builders Housing & Construction Awards program points to the important role Master Builders plays in nurturing and promoting excellence within the industry and encouraging members to take pride in their work.
The high standard of workmanship achieved by our members highlights Master Builders’ commitment to equipping members with specialist advice and professional services, which in turn helps members to provide unmatched workmanship and attention to detail for clients.
Whether you are about to undertake a minor renovation or build your dream home, selecting a builder or trade contractor is a big decision. You can choose one of the award-winning builders featured here, or use Master Builders easy-to-use online search facility www.homeofbuilding.com.au which provides details of properly licensed contractors who match your specified criteria.
On behalf of Master Builders, I thank all winners for supporting the Housing & Construction Awards program and wish them all the best.

The Master Builders Housing & Construction Awards have been recognised as one of Queensland’s most prestigious and longest-running industry events since 1987 when the inaugural ceremony was held.
Initially known as the Housing Awards Competition, it was expanded in 1988 to encompass the residential housing and commercial industrial fields, and became what we now know as the Housing & Construction Awards.
The new program was run in conjunction with the Housing and Construction Conference ’88, which was part of Brisbane’s Expo ’88 program.
It wasn’t until 1993 that entries from regional Queensland were encouraged and the first Master Builders Regional Housing & Construction Awards were launched.
The Wide Bay Burnett ceremony was much smaller than those held today, with only a handful of categories being awarded.
Today there are more than 50 categories under the banners of construction, housing, trade contractor/specialty and individual.
Thirty years later, it is heartening to see that some of these original regional winners are still Master Builders members.

Why build with Master Builders?
Master Builders Wide Bay Burnett regional manager Will WilsonPEOPLE often ask me: Why should I use a Master Builder?
What’s in it for me?
My answer is always simple. Master Builders are experts in their field – they have access to up-to-date training, and industry advice and support that other contractors and their customers cannot access.
Master Builders has recently made a significant investment towards connecting home owners and renovators with the right builder or tradie.
This means that you can now easily find the right contractor for your building job with our new and improved online search facility.
It’s as simple as typing in the job you need done and your area postcode. The search results will give you a list of Master Builders in your area who are qualified to undertake the work.
So whether it’s a kitchen reno, bathroom alteration, a deck or new home build you’re looking for, eliminate the legwork or ringing around and head to www.homeofbuilding.com.au. Follow the prompts to our easy-to-use online search facility.
Building with a Master Builder gives you peace of mind that your
contractor is appropriately licensed and has the support of Master Builders who provide members with access to practical training, adviceand up-to-date information which helps raise professional standards.
Master Builders is also there to help consumers with advice and information about the building process.
Value for money and a design that is tailored to accommodate your personal lifestyle factors are two major considerations for homeowners thinking of building or renovating.
Master Builders members also complete more than 80% of building work in Queensland.
With these factors in mind, it’s really important to do your research, find the right builder and have a good understanding about how the building process works.
Our website includes information on issues like choosing land, building your dream home, getting quotes, contracts and variations, deposits and progress payments, building approvals and inspections, the construction phase and what to do before you move in.
Master Builders contracts allocate risk fairly between the builder and customer and can also assist if contractual questions arise during the building process.
The information on Master Builders website will give you a more thorough understanding of the building process and help improve communication with your builder.
You’ll also then know what to expect throughout the various stages of building, which can assist in reducing stress, minimise disputes, and pave the way to a smoother and happier build.
Visit www.homeofbuilding.com.au to discover the many benefits of building with a trusted Master Builders member or find a Master Builders member who is available for your next project.

New awards further showcase diversity
M ASTER Builders has introduced three new categories for the Housing & Construction Awards this year for Diversity, the Institute of Building Consultants, and Bluescope Best Use of Steel Frame Housing.
The Diversity award recognises a company or organisation that could demonstrate positive change via initiatives aimed at promoting diversity within their business. It includes initiatives such as pro-actively seeking to attract and place workers in non-traditional roles (such as female carpenters), promoting and encouraging flexibility in job design and hours of work (e.g. flexible work arrangements, initiatives for carers and parents telecommuting options), and sustainable employment opportunities for disadvantaged workers (e.g. the long-term unemployed, indigenousor disabled).
The Institute of Building Consultants award was designed to be presented to the consultant who has demonstrated an outstanding contribution to the building and construction industry, including exemplary customer service, teamwork and leadership skills.
The Best Use of Steel Frame Housing award is given to a housing project built using steel frames. It is judged according to workmanship, degree of difficulty, value for money, street appeal; livability, design and innovation, and siting and aspect.

Visual appeal makes for attractive home
A BUILDING that stands out from the reststarts with a great plan.
DBI Group Pty Ltd are design specialists with more than 50 years’ experience in designing buildings to suit the needs of the client and the environment without losing their visual appeal.
Director Tony Boyd said: “We are the space we live in – it reveals our character, our way of life and, ultimately, our identity. Every time we design a new home, an extension, an office or shop, we do so with the mindset to suit the people who will occupy them,” he said.
“Whether you’re looking for a simple design for a first home or an extravagant architecturally significant home, we can help transform your ideas into reality.
“Not only can we sort out the design of a new project, we also assist nearly all of our clients by way of co-ordinating the engineering and council lodgement to take the headache out of the process.
“Beyond that, DBI Group Pty Ltd are licensed builders and can also build it for you.”
Fraser Coast Constructions stands strong
HAVING been a Hervey Bay local for the past 25 years and with more than 20 years’ experience in the Queensland building industry, quality construction and award wins are not new to Kirt Phillips. As director of Fraser Coast Constructions, Kirt continues to enjoy the community and support local contractors and suppliers, employing them through every step of the building process.
Fraser Coast Constructions specialises in new homes, extensions and renovations, and was pleased to showcase two projects in this year’s Master Builders Association Housing and Construction Awards for an Individual Home $351,000 to $450,000 and Individual Home $451,000 to $550,000.
Individual Home $451,000 to $550,000: With a sloping block and breathtaking views of Fraser Island, this home has been built to showcase the magnificent landscape which is at its front door.
Individual Home $351,000 to $450,000: Set on a stunning five-acre block, this modern contemporary home defines luxury. With quality finishes and workmanship, this home is a little bit of paradise.
Family business grows on quality work
A FAMILY owned and operated business, Russell Clark Enterprises PL, has been providing quality homes, renovations and commercial construction in the Wide Bay area for more than 20 years.
During this time the business has been able to grow in reputation by undertaking projects such as the Catholic Church at Rainbow Beach, Caltex Service Station (un-manned) in Urangan as well as numerous homes and renovations.
Russell Clark continues to be a well-known and respected builder who prides himself on providing all clients with the best possible service.
This year Russell Clark Enterprises PL has been nominated in two categories, Individual Home $451,000 - $550,000 and Home Renovation/Remodelling Project $576,000 – $1 million.
Individual Home:
The home is a modern architecturally designed residence built using environmental practices to minimise heating, cooling and lighting requirements. The home was specifically built to meet its owner’s needs for family space while providing privacy in a beautiful parents’ retreat. The kitchen provides the hub of the home while beautiful brick feature walls enhance its warming and cooling aspects.
Home Renovation/Remodelling:
This project provided a great amount of challenges, the first being on an island where everything, including machinery and materials, had to be transported by boat. Part of the original house needed to be moved from the other side of the island which was done by cutting the building in three and transporting each section by a specifically designed trailer amazing holiday home for the owners which provides unique and private entertaining areas. The home has multiple living and bedroom areas catering to the largest of family gatherings. The home was built to provide the owners with an environmentally sustainable holiday destination.
Local builder accepts design challenge
ITH quality as their goal, it was only natural that Grant and Bobbie Cameron were willing to take on the challenge of creating a contemporary European design from Scheller-Talerico in Hervey Bay using local build methods and materials.
The end result which features in the Individual Home $251,000$350,000 category of the Master Builders Association Housing and Construction Awards further showcases how value for money is also a mission of Cottonwood Projects.
Grant said after some consultation from the client, ourselves and local architects at Active Design and Drafting a house plan was established that met the necessary codes and client’s expectations.
“This home is a perfect example of how at Cottonwood Projects we aim to provide your family a home that will not only provide comfort and style for years to come, but will be an investment whose value continues to increase into the future,” he said.
“We are proud that our clients find us friendly and willing to give them the advice they need to make decisions, and move forward quickly with their plans because we specialise in building
custom homes.
“Our H&C Awards entry is definitely striking as the house is situated to take full advantage of the Fraser Island views and has a glass frontage and counter levered front veranda with no post support to upper roof to interrupt views.
“The striking component of the front of the home is the 21,000mm-long by 3600mm wide deck with its counter levered roof stretching out to the sky unsupported above and the wide hardwood decking installed across deck to provide a seamless deck.
“Hardwood post and hand rail frame out to the stainless steel wire running the length of home with a black 300mm-wide façade framing the entire front of home as a picture frame.
“The project was an unconventional build mixing aspects of commercial-type construction and residential to give a clean minimal look focusing attention to the front of the home.”
At Cottonwood Homes, Grant and Bobbie can help clients design their dream home and are always there to answer any questions and personally guide them through the exciting stages of the build.
“As part of the Independent Builders Network, a professional network of local builders offering a high quality, personal and valuable service and we can also offer you over 80 plans to choose from, all of which can be customised to suit clients’ needs whether they are looking at building their first home, an investment property or your dream home.”
Why choose a local builder?
■ The establishment of the Independent Builders Network was solely around the fact the smaller local builders were fast becoming a thing of the past and when IBN discovered this, they knew they had a great opportunity to develop a national builders network that is solely focused on making the local builder more competitive in the market and offering what the bigger builders do.
■ What sets the smaller builder apart from the others? High quality work and finish to your home, customer service that cannot be beaten and after-sales service like no other.
■ Why is this possible? Because they are not volume builders, they are local builders backed by IBN and retain our name in the local community we live in.
■ How is this possible? The IBN allow their builders to do what they do best and that is build high quality homes, while in the background we have national supplier deals set-up to cover all the products that go into your home.
Kleidon Masterbuilt Homes continues tradition of quality
ITH a whopping six entries in the 2017 Master Builders Housing & Construction Awards, Kleidon Masterbuilt Homes are continuing to showcase why they are leaders in the industry.
Remaining a local, long-established, reliable and trusted building company, directors Brett and Dianne Kleidon are pleased to have grown their business largely on the back of their excellent reputation.
This is evident in their quality homes, happy clients, repeat business and referrals.
Kleidon Masterbuilt Homes has flourished over the past 15 years and now employs 10 permanent long-term staff who consistently bring new ideas and state-of-the-art building concepts to Bundaberg.
Brett Kleidon says Kleidon Masterbuilt Homes pride themselves on consistently developing small and large award-winning projects and using all local tradespeople and suppliers where possible.
“This ensures great amounts of employment for Bundaberg and keeps our district thriving,” he said.
“We believe that the Bundaberg region will continue to move forward, especially the coastal suburbs such as Bargara, where infrastructure and housing developments are on the rise and therefore are opening a new display home at Bargara Beach Estate as well as releasing a 28-lot housing development Ocean Links Estate.
“As we deal with a large variety of clients and construction types, such as residential, commercial buildings, multi-residential complexes and pretty much everything in between, we adapt to the needs and requirements of the clients and work with them to make the project or dream home possible.
“We pride ourselves on building quality homes and we are always looking at new ways to make this more affordable and value for money.”
Sustainable living real option at Bargara
‘‘ We have an array of sizes and façade options available, with a design to suit everyone, or our inhouse draftsperson can work with clients to make their dreams a reality.
development with house and land packages available at Ocean Links Estate in the prime location of Bargara.
Surrounded by the pristine fairways of the Bargara Golf Course and positioned directly opposite Bargara Central Shopping Centre, Ocean Links Bargara offers a relaxed coastal lifestyle with natural beauty and modern convenience.
Nestled only one kilometre back from picturesque beachside Bargara, this unique residential development presents 28 breathtaking home sites in a safe and friendly neighbourhood community.
With the support of Kleidon Masterbuilt Homes, Ocean Links Estate will be like no other in the region with only the highest quality homes being built, meaning protected investments and residents being surrounded by a like-minded community.
Dianne Kleidon said she and Brett were pleased to provide virtually endless options with the house and land packages designed to suit all individual styles and interests.
“We have an array of sizes and façade options available, with a design to suit everyone, or our in-house draftsperson can work with clients to make their dreams a reality,” she said.
“Site works have begun on the development, meaning it won’t be long now until construction will start on a number of new homes.
“With such a prime location in the laidback coastal town of Bargara, this estate oozes lifestyle appeal.”
Given the standard of homes that Kleidon Masterbuilt Homes have displayed in the MBA Housing and Construction Awards, investors can be assured of unique and modern design.
Construction group enjoys community commitment
URCHIE Constructions continues to strive for excellence with the completion of another quality construction in Bundaberg’s industrial precinct – a warehouse and office complex for JAM Outdoor.
The team at Murchie Constructions pride themselves on professionalism, attention to detail and strong builder-client communication that continually achieves pleasing results.
Client satisfaction is their goal, because from it comes both referred and repeat business. Having a stringent project
management system in place and working to a well-designed construction program ensures minimal errors and delays and ensures the majority of Murchie Constructions’ projects are completed on time.
They use a reliable team of local subcontractors who complete jobs to the highest of standards that are expected by the team at Murchie Constructions.
As builders working throughout regional Queensland, local construction projects are a welcome change for Murchie
Constructions, especially buildings with long-lasting prominence such as the JAM Warehouse Bundaberg.
The architect engaged in this project has met the challenge of designing a warehouse with an interesting appearance and not just another bland tilt panel commercial structure.
The front elevation features a tilt panel facade framing a glazed curtain wall. Dark tinted glass cools the interior and adds visual interest to the expansive frontage.
Constructed on a corner block, the eastern elevation also boasts eye-catching colour and proportionally appropriate glazing.
Externally, the clean, minimalistic lines are softened by quality landscaping elements.
Complementing the “green” theme of the commercial estate, semi-advanced plantings enhance the appearance of the site as well as disguising the bio-retention pit located at the front of the building.
Adina Designed Interiors were engaged by Murchie Constructions as cabinetmaker on the Headspace Bundaberg fit-out, another of their Housing and Construction Awards entries.
Having a fully qualified interior designer on staff, together with Adina Designed Interiors’ extensive experience in commercial shop and office fitting, meant they were well-equipped to handle this project.
Whilst the construction drawings provided an overall design concept, Adina’s Interior Designer worked very closely with the project designers to prepare detailed working drawings.
This process greatly assists with the interpretation and translation of design concepts, allowing the designer and client to fully appreciate the finished appearance and function of the joinery and cabinetry prior to construction and installation.
Even though the joinery has been designed to contribute to the facility’s casual and laidback appearance, functionality is still at the fore with practical, hardwearing surfaces used extensively.
Couple work with nature to create dream home
“W E’RE ready to create the home you’ve always wanted.” This is the vision of husband and wife team Frans and Ingrid Gorissen.
While the name of their business is new, their reputation is well established.
With a building and design background, the majority of their business comes from customer referrals because their name represents them, a builder and interior designer working together – V I V E R E; to live, Lifestyle, Living.
VIVERE (to live) represents the ultimate blend of custom-building plus renovation, plus interior design to bring the new look or new home of a client’s dreams alive.
The Gorissens live and breathe building and design, and say they are masters of the art of crafting beautiful homes that are all about the client.
“Your style, your vision, your quality expectations, your budget, but most importantly your family and how you want to live,” Ingrid said.
“Let us take you on an extraordinary journey to exceptional living.
“Having migrated from the Netherlands to Hervey Bay 17 years ago, we love the beautiful sub-tropical climate but, unfortunately, a lot of people live in homes that work against the climate and not with it.
“The Fraser Coast has the perfect conditions to create climate-responsible designs which improve comfort and health
conditions for their occupants.
to build safer and healthier places, taking on the challenge to use technology and innovation to minimise environmental impact while improving comfort and performance.”
With the home entered in the Housing and Construction Awards for the Sustainable Living and Individual Home $651,000 to $750,000 at Dundowran Beach, their thoughts were blending contemporary, innovative design and sustainability, using design features and materials to create relaxing spaces.
The aim was to take the beautiful Queensland weather and unique natural surroundings as a start point and to design/build a home perfectly positioned on the sloping block.
Dirt from the Craignish, Toogoom and Childers area has been used to feature 450mm-thick insulated rammed earth walls, frameless glass panels sunken into the earth connecting outdoor and indoor gardens to enable the feeling of outdoor living inside.
Another well-designed feature is the eight-metre retractable verandaroom structure.
Being able to control the elements of sunlight, rain and airflow, it creates a great advantage in livability, energy efficiency and connection to nature.
Frans said it was their mission to shift the paradigm of building beyond boundaries.

Custom-design homes to cater for all budgets
“A QUALITY home does not need to be expensive; it’s about delivering an innovative, efficient and well-executed home as seamlessly as possible.”
This is the philosophy of Ross and Angela Scott, the family behind Bungalow Homes, so it is easy to see why Bungalow has been awarded several Master Builders prizes within the $250,000 to $425,000 price range.
Bungalow Homes design and build homes that deliver a unique style focusing on creating spaces that complement their clients and the Queensland lifestyle.
Through client input, innovative and sustainable design techniques, they can build an affordable, energy-efficient, quality home that seamlessly connects outdoor rooms, expands living areas and enhances the element of space.
This year Bungalow had numerous entries in The Master Builders Association Housing and Construction Awards in various price categories, showing that custom-designed homes are affordable for all budgets.
In the up to $250,000 category, the three-bedroom home truly stands out for its open plan as well as high-raked ceilings giving it a definite feeling of spaciousness.
Another one of their entries in the $251,000 to $350,000 category is a home comprising five bedrooms with several living areas that definitely take advantage of the ocean views.
One of Bungalow’s Signature homes in the $451,000 to $550,000 category includes a pool with a bridge crossing over it to the entrance of the home.
It is easy to see why this home has been entered in the best use of sloping sites.
This home was perched at the top of a ridge with views to Fraser Island and needed a custom plan to ensure that the home was designed with minimal site works costs and provided the owner with a one-of-a-kind Signature home.
Angela said Bungalow Homes had entered a home in the renovation/remodelling category this year.
“Here was our opportunity to provide new life to a tired old Queensland beauty while also adding a deck and above-ground pool to the exterior of the home,” she said.
“We are proud to also have entries in the Women in Building section as well as Apprentice of the Year as we value the staff that work for us and would like to show appreciation for their on-going support.”
Rejuvenate showcases extensive experience
LOCAL family company run by Michael and Sara Forbes, Rejuvenate Construction Solutions, developed its craft on the Fraser Coast and has spread its wings to service the wider region with offices in both Hervey Bay and the Sunshine Coast.
RCS has been an integral project partner in large commercial projects throughout Queensland but, at the other end of the scale, has also had extensive experience working hand-in-hand with individual clients on small projects undertaking boutique home renovations.
The experience gained across the domestic and commercial sectors has equipped the company with the knowledge to provide invaluable advice to clients who have a vision or design idea. Michael said clients were guided in making decisions to add value to their project.
“The relationships we have developed with key locally based subcontractors ensures that we are bringing together quality tradespeople to deliver impeccable results,” he said. “We work with clients to embrace new or progressive technology when considering the features and fitout options when building a new home.”
This attention to detail has cemented RCS’ Torquay Terrace
(Individual Home $451,000 - $550,000) as a worthy nominee.
“We partnered with the owners to make the building journey a mutually rewarding experience,” Michael said.
The home features grand open spaces in the living areas to create the owners’ ultimate open plan Queensland lifestyle space and allows plenty of natural light, which was a key element in the design.
technology has been an integral part of the design and build of this home, while using the natural environment has created the perfect balance between privacy from the road whilst maximising the spectacular Hervey Bay outlook.
you want to build a new home, add a deck or extension onto your home, renovate your bathroom, or scrap it all and start from scratch, RCS has you covered.

To enable JRZ Homes to provide this standard of quality and service, builder Jesse Zielke has put together a team of professional staff, including a client liaison person who deals directly with each and every client, keeping them informed throughout the entire build.
He has brought together the best local suppliers and sub-contractors in the business, ensuring a stress-free build for all involved.
Being local and also a business owner, Jesse can answer any of our clients’ questions quickly and effectively. He takes massive pride in each and every home JRZ builds, visiting every job regularly to check on progress, quality and most of the time to admire the home our clients have designed.
JRZ build their clients’ homes to their budget and to a strict timeframe, with an average build time of 14 weeks for most homes. It’s a testament to the project manager who always gets great feedback from subbies and suppliers about how organised JRZ are.
Jesse says JRZ is proud of giving back to the community, by donating $250 to a local charity of the client’s choice, so far donating more than $30,000 to local charities.
“Our goal is to build our clients a home that reflects their dreams and exceeds their expectations. Let us show you why our homes are ‘built on trust and sold on quality’,” he said.

JRZ Homes 2017 Master Builders Housing & Construction Awards 2017 Nominations
Home design suits block and showcases stunning design
I T STARTED with a dream, a search for the perfect block to fit our most popular design on.
This is how Vivid Home Builders entry in the Housing and Construction Awards for the display home $251,000 to $350,000 became a reality.
Owners Emma and Tony were lucky enough to secure the first block in a new development called Kingston Estate, Hervey Bay’s first display village; although the challenge was - how do they fit this spacious, single storey, 300sq m home on an 851sq mblock?
Emma said they were glad they persevered because it is perfectly situated.
“The afternoon sun settles on the front of the home, sheltering the spacious alfresco area, bedrooms and living areas from the tropical heat while the hub of the home overlooks the manicured lawns and gardens,” she said.
“From the street, the house hides its secrets. It doesn’t show its
nestled in between the cream rendered exterior. “Mood lighting in the evening ensures the home is always at its best and the handmade timber feature door is the deserving entry this home commands.
“Our favourite thing about this home is that upon entry, you a guided into a seamlessly open plan living area that encompasses the Queensland lifestyle of outdoor living.
“Handmade, timber bi-fold doors open the home up so well that you don’t feel where the living area begins and ends.”
This home has to be seen to be believed because it then splits into two wings, one wing with an office, walk in robe and a spacious master suite.
Truly an oasis from the world it features a very generously sized open plan designer ensuite.
If the freestanding stone bath doesn’t entice you then step outside into your own private outdoor shower with a hint of Balinese flavour.
the opposite side of the main living area, which can be closed off for privacy, has its own games or rumpus room, three generously sized bedrooms and a full size bathroom with separate powder room.
“This is why this design is so popular, everyone is able to have their own slice of luxury, privacy and relaxation.
“The design features don’t end there, with two additional family areas, including a plush media room and a formal sitting area.
“But the jewel in the crown has to be the chef’s kitchen that overlooks the dining out to the alfresco and back yard.”
An entertainers dream, this home is designed to bring busy families together, to enjoy the hub of the home as is should be.
Tasteful décor throughout, leaves you with a feeling of space, relaxation and embraces the beach lifestyle of Hervey Bay.
It is stunning home design like this that highlights one of the reasons Emma and Tony started Vivid Home Builders was to give, their clients the quality and service you deserve.
and has more than 30 years’ experience said all customers deserve honesty and respect.
“As custom home building specialists we see that people want their own design, a design they love, a home they can enjoy that’s their design and everything about their home is what they have personally chosen,” he said.
“At Vivid Home Builders we feel very lucky to have amazing staff that reflect our ideals.
“From our tradesmen, sales team, site supervising and office administration, we employ only highly trained, motivated people that have a focus on customer service and that deliver you a high quality home that you deserve.
“We are very community based, making sure where possible, we always use local tradesmen and suppliers so money goes back into our local economy.
“We are independently owned and operated, ensuring a personal service at all times.”
Designs to suit client’s lifestyle
P RIDING themselves on creating individual, custom-designed homes to suit their clients’ lifestyle, NH Homes are continuing to make building a stress-free experience.
It is easy to see why this family-owned business operated by husband and wife team Nathan and Helen Hore is continuing to enjoy success in the Fraser Coast region.
Nathan says at NH Homes they can have your dreams and ideas developed into plans and offer constructive advice and realistic expectations of how the building process works.
“It’s important to us to find out what is important to you and your lifestyle, whether it’s incorporating a large family, maximising light and ventilation, outdoor entertaining, low maintenance, resale value or creating ‘wow’ factor,” he said.
“Your home should reflect who you are and suit your lifestyle in the most functional, stylish and cost-effective way possible.
“Whether it’s a new home, extension or renovation, our aim is to achieve a stylish, quality finish, within budget and on time – all by a local Hervey Bay builder.”
Award wins are something that Nathan and Helen are not new to, having taken out a Master Builders Award previously at a regional, state and even national level, but for them the positive feedback from their clients at the completion of each build remains very rewarding in itself.
Helen said they had completed a wide range of projects over the years, from small bathroom renovations to complete house renovations/extensions to new homes.
“By building strong relationships with our subcontractors and suppliers, we can offer consistency and value for money,” she said.
The variety of NH Homes can easily be seen in their Housing and Construction Awards entry in Individual Home $251,000$350,000 and also Excellence in Sustainable Living – Bespoke Pavilion.
This pavilion-style dwelling is a modern, functional, energy-efficient home with flexible living spaces while still allowing privacy for family life.
The intelligent design creates four zones –kitchen/living/alfresco, office/granny flat, main bedroom/media and lastly the kids’ zone – and these zones are private yet flow together effortlessly and naturally.
The northern facing house was positioned on site to allow preservation of a 300-year-old ghost gum and to capitalise on the surrounding native trees for shade and to take advantage of the breeze from the north.
Their other project, Ocean Views, is entered in the category Medium Density up to three storeys – two to five dwellings.
These duplex units in Point Vernon were designed and constructed to appeal to the sophisticated buyer and the owner took particular care and pride in selecting fixtures and fittings that were high quality, functional, stylish and low-maintenance whilst being very conscious of budget and value for money.
Although the units are a mirror image inside, the building façade gives individuality to each unit.
‘‘ Your home should reflect who you are and suit your lifestyle in the most functional, stylish and cost-effective way possible.
