our verdict (4/5). It’s as ever a delectable combination of Bobi Wine and Nubian Li, delivering yet another fine piece in their trademark hybrid of Ugandan and Caribbean sound. The lyrics are well-written (as Bobi’s always are) and the production is spot-on.

CHANCE FOR REDEMPTION Rugby Cranes start 1A challenge with Namibia test, knowing the visitors will punish sloppy play BY EDWARD KALEMA
T
hree weeks ago, Uganda’s Rugby Cranes looked bewildered as Kenya ran in seven tries against them at Legends to register an emphatic 48-10 Elgon Cup first leg win. The Cranes` display left fans wondering how their side would recover from this devastating blow. An entourage of 27 players was sent to South Africa for a camp in Bloemfontein, home of Super Rugby franchise Toyota Cheetahs for fine-tuning ahead of the real big test in the 1A tournament. While Coach Robert Seguya is confident that the camp added a lot to his side and that they are far better team than the one Kenya schooled, many in the rugby fraternity want the talking done on the pitch when Uganda hosts Namibia on Saturday at Kyadondo. Uganda`s shambolic defence
and lack of execution in the final third of the pitch were Cranes` main undoings against Kenya, although all that can be overturned on Saturday. “The team is far better, our defensive patterns have been worked on and the game reading is way better,” Seguya said. Namibia has a side blessed with size and strength compared to their Ugandan counterparts. The Welwitschias have been here before in 2007 in a visit they would love to forget when Cranes edged them 20-19 but a lot has changed since. Namibia have been to three World Cups while Uganda at one time sunk up to the third tier (1C). Tall order With one of the youngest sides ever, Uganda has a tall order to overcome as lack of experience exposed them against Kenya. While Uganda can boast
of having a running game as their weapon, the Namibians are strong at set pieces, the same arsenal that Kenya employed. With seasonal Cranes center Michael Wokorach struggling with a back injury and most likely to miss out on the game, all eyes will be on the midfield combination of Gerald Sewankambo and Oscar Kalyango. Joseph Aredo’s stability at the back will keep the Namibians guessing. The physicality of the Namibians is a threat Seguya is well aware of but he thinks his boys can match it up if they stand tall from the beginning. “I have seen their games. They are physical but if we can contain them for the first 20 minutes, then they can crack,” he said. Two weeks later the Cranes travel to Zimbabwe before heading to Kenya for the last 1A fixture which will double as the Elgon Cup second leg.
