The chairman of Makerere University Academic Staff Association Dr Muhammad Kiggundu has warned they could be joining other government employees like state prosecutors and doctors in withdrawing their services if their salaries are not improved. Dr Kiggundu threatened a strike come November 17 if. the salary enhancement and harmonisation they have demanded for years is not met.

Sergeant Stanley Sempagala ‘Kifulugunyu’, the NRA Bush War singing soldier is dead. The soldier made a name for himself as a regular fixture on national broadcaster UTV a composer of several songs that were sang by NRA soldiers to boost morale. These aired on radio and TV in the aftermath of the Bush War. His love for music continued after the war as he released several music videos. Some of his songs have been redone by artistes like Gravity Omutujju. The reason for his death was not yet established by press time.

Muhammed Shaban finally cleared to play

Sudhir agrees to mediation after change of judge Tycoon Sudhir Ruparelia has agreed to mediation with Bank of Uganda in the Shs400bn landmark case after Principal Judge Yorokamu Bamwine took over as the new mediator. Sudhir, son Rajiv, their lawyer Peter Kabatsi and BoU Director for Supervision Justine Bagyenda held closed door deliberations with Justice Bawmine on Monday as news emerged that mediation would go on.

Following his clearance from Fufa last week, Muhammed Shaban was yesterday scheduled to make his first appearance for Kampala Capital City Authority Football Club (KCCA FC) in a fixture where the league champions hosted table leaders Police FC in the Azam Uganda Premier League. Shaban had been forced to sit out the action after a dispute over his transfer from previous club Onduparaka FC to KCCA.
