Body & Soul
Living I Relating
yYOU’RE IN LOVE,
health
Eat, rest, exercise to beat constant fatigue I f you are constantly plagued by unexplained tiredness, medics say it is most likely be due to lifestyle factors such as stress, not enough sleep, poor diet, among others. These self-help tips will help you to restore your energy levels. Eat often Eating regular meals and healthy snacks every three to four hours, rather than a large meal less often, isn’t just a good way to keep up your energy through the day. It saves your body the exhausting task of processing one big meal taken after so long.
Eat well You not only have to eat regularly, but eat healthy. Reaching for nuts, fruits and vegetables, and whole grains will help your body make the energy it needs. Include protein, like an egg or yoghurt, along with carbohydrates such as whole-grain bread or oatmeal, but don’t eat too much protein and fat.
Exercise Regular exercise might leave you feeling worn down immediately after you quit the gym or pull off your running shoes, but in the long run you’ll have more energy because of it. Even a single 15-minute walk five days a week can give you an energy boost, and the benefits increase with more frequent activity.
Lose weight It tasks your body and heart every single minute if you’re carrying excess weight, leaving you constantly exhausted. So lose weight and you’ll feel much more energetic. Diet eating and being more active and doing more exercise are free tips here.
YOU JUST DONT KNOW IT relate
Sleep well
Sounds obvious, but two-thirds of people suffer from sleep problems, and many people don’t get the sleep they need to stay alert through the day. Medics advise going to bed and getting up in the morning at the same time every day; avoiding naps through the day, and having a hot bath before bed.
Reduce stress Stress uses up a lot of energy, and you can beat it by trying to introduce relaxing activities into your day –listening to music, reading or spending time with friends, even working out. Talking your issues over with trusted friends and families, or even seeing counselors, also helps in the fight against stress.
Out caffeine You’ve been told that caffeine will banish sleep and keep you alert all the time, which is true. But several researchers recommended that anyone feeling tired should cut out caffeine (stop having all caffeine drinks like coffee, tea and cola drinks) so that their body can begin to get enough rest and feel less blown out.
Drink less If you’re a seasoned drinker, you’re sure your body has thoroughly adjusted to alcohol so that it no longer leaves you weaker. Medics however advise you to cut down on alcohol as research has shown it leaves every human body drained of energy. Drinking before you sleep is particularly discouraged.
Drink water Sometimes you feel tired simply because you’re mildly dehydrated, and a glass of water will do the trick. It is recommended that a person drinks at least eight glasses of water

ometimes it doesn’t need a second thought to realise we have fallen in love. Other times, an attraction slowly creeps up on a person, without them realising or acknowledging how hooked they are. It happens when falling for someone formerly considered a casual acquaintance they had no romantic feelings for whatsoever. That guy or chic casually mentions their love for John Legend, and within a week you can’t stop downloading John Legend songs off YouTube. Suddenly you discover that guy looks like Bebe Cool , or that chic looks like Rema, and instantly you’re a fan of Bebe Cool or of Rema. For no particular reason, you find yourself googling things about that guy or chic, discovering that their first name is shared by six great writers, and that their last name is shared by some Australian academic who published a trailblazing paper about the nocturnal behaviour of gorillas. You find yourself working that guy/ chic’s name into every possible conversation. Someone mentions a new nightclub, another one talks about football, the other one talks crime in the city, and on all occasions you say what the object your disguised love says about the topic. All of that person’s jokes make
you laugh yourself off balance like a hyena –even the ones that aren’t funny to other people. You’ve given that guy or chic a cool nickname that makes your friends roll their eyes every time they hear you mention it, because for them the person isn’t that cool really. You have began to see the good that no one else sees in that person’s character, and for the bad you have began to see how exactly they could be mended by someone who cares to do so; you are often reading that guy or chic’s horoscope to figure out their character, as well as their possibilities for the day, for the week, for the year and for life. Every time you see the guy or chic
chat other members of your sex, you can’t help imagining they’re all trying to make moves on the object of your disguised affection. May be it even throws you off balance. If you’re friends with the person, you find yourself always wanting to know what is on their mind, how they are feeling, and you involuntarily tell them what’s on your mind and how you’re feeling. If you share professional space and often need to formally communicate, it takes you more time to an email mail to him or her. And in there you find yourself asking about their private life. If these signs are familiar, you are already in love, you just don’t know it.
a problem shared...
My boyfriend’s involvement with other women bothers me I’m dating this man who is really wonderful on many counts. He’s a very intelligent man, classy, loving, generous and not a womanizer. He tells me all the time how beautiful and sexy I am, and he says almost everyday that he wants to marry me. The problem is that whenever we go out, he looks at other women. Not just the average-guy looking. He’s staring at them. He gets so caught up in it, even while holding my hand and walking past shops, he’ll head into one, if he sees someone attractive inside. He’ll sit with me at restaurants and look. He’s even gone so far as to look behind me to see someone again, and often he has looked long enough to even seemingly
make eye-contact. And these long-looks at women all over are really bothering me. I’d say they’re even starting to ruin the relationship for me, and it makes me question his feelings for me. I recently let him know that I’ve noticed his staring and he got shocked and immediately defensive. How do I let him know I’m insulted that he does this so consistently, when he seems oblivious to his acts? It’s made me not want to go places with him anymore.
Jovia, Namugongo If a partner engages in behavior which is upsetting, it is very easy to get a partner to refrain from doing that behavior in front of you.
Punish him for it, raise hell about it, he’ll stop it. Linda, Entebbe I have one word for you. You might get him to change his behavior, maybe hide the flirting from you, but this does not mean that it will change his personality or his behavior when you are not around. Learn to live with it.
Esther, Luzira It sounds like you’re unlucky to be in a relationship with a serial womanizer who can’t control himself around women! Sad bit is if he isn’t womanizing yet, from how he behaves it is only a matter of time before he starts.
