COURTSIDE NEWS As a lifelong tennis enthusiast, I am passionate about helping people improve their skills on the tennis and pickleball courts. I started playing tennis at a young age and played tennis at Country Club of Asheville when I was 13. By age 16, I worked in the pro shop and helped teach kids camps in the summertime. I played tennis all four years at Asheville High School and won a State Championship in 2010. After high school, I played tennis for two years at LeesMcRae College and ranked No. 1 on the team. Following my time at LeesMcRae, I went on to receive my undergraduate degree from UNC-Chapel Hill and taught tennis at various country clubs during the summer. In 2018, I was hired as the Head Tennis Pro at Country Club of Asheville. This past September, I became the Head Tennis Coach for the men’s and women’s tennis teams at Mars Hill University. I am excited to continue improving the program and working with members at Country Club of Asheville. The winters here in Asheville seem to be more and more milder each year. In order to take advantage of nice weather days, the tennis staff is working to keep the outdoor Court No. 2 open. Unfortunately, it is unrealistic to expect the court to be in optimal condition throughout the wintertime. However, we know it will be nice to take advantage of playing on good weather days throughout winter. There will be many days when the outdoor court is not playable. It is important that you check the online court reservation sheet to determine whether or not the outdoor court is playable for days when you want to play. We will update the court reservation sheet daily to determine whether or not the court is playable. Having a clay court open throughout the winter is something that is unique to Western North Carolina due to our climate.
