As we always do, we rolled out the red carpet and showed our colleagues what makes Porters Neck special They were all blown away by the experience and fun atmosphere of our club Our goal was to make them feel like a member for a few days and we certainly did with night golf on the short-course, an oyster roast, music on the patio, fire pits, and amazing food from our culinary team We added several “WOW’ moments including the MCCONNELL GOLF sign and PAWS4PEOPLE bringing their new litter of puppies

Special thanks to Porters Neck members, Bob and Noreen Buss! Their support and dedication is incredibly instrumental in making "Operation Semper Gratus" happen!

Please remember to rake the practice bunkers after you are done and repair ball marks on the practice greens The short game tees are not meant for someone to drop a bucket of balls and hit to a green This tears up the teeing area and really leaves a lot of ball marks on the greens that are not easily repaired Please use the driving range for that type of practice. We have a one-of-a-kind short game area, let’s do our part to keep it nice.

FRIDAY, FEBRUARY 17TH | 3:00 PM SHOTGUN | 2 PERSON TEAMS

2 person teams playing 9 holes using 9 different fun formats for each hole

HOLE 1: Regular scramble play, once on the green, you may putt to any hole on the green

HOLE 2: Scramble, but team must use their worst drive (i.e. farthest from the green).

HOLE 3: Alternate shot. Team determines order and each shot is made by one player only Once your ball is on the green, all team members may attempt the putt(s)

HOLE 4: Scramble Once your ball is on the green, if you are right-handed, putt with the left-handed putter and vice versa if left-handed (find them on the left edge of the green and please put it back there when you are finished)

HOLE 5: Scramble. Once you reach the green, you must putt with your driver.

HOLE 6: Regular scramble.

HOLE 7: If both players hit their drives in the 7th fairway, the team may then pick up all balls and play their 2nd shot from the 100 yard marker. Otherwise, normal scramble

HOLE 8: Scramble Each player will select one club for the hole Then each shot must be played with their selected club For example, if one player chooses a putter, that player must tee off with the putter, and hit all shots afterward with the putter

HOLE 9: Scramble. Must use the ball farthest from the hole when the team reaches the green and on every set of putts thereafter.

We are still running grip specials throughout the month If you have not changed your grips within the last year, you probably need new grips New grips make it easier to hold onto the club and creates less tension in your hands, arms and shoulders, thus enabling a player to make a more free and relaxed swing. Stop by the Pro Shop and we can inspect your clubs to determine if you need new grips
