FROM THE CLUB FROM DIRECTOR OF OPERATIONS

We hope you had a wonderful summer with your friends and family. It was quite busy around the club, to say the least, and was certainly a pleasure to see members continue to socialize together. However, considering the new concern of the delta variant, and the updated guidance from the CDC, we will be taking the following measures to keep both our members and employees safe at Members Club (Ocean Club). Thank you for your patience and kindness as we continue to work through these uncertain times. · Effective immediately, all employees (regardless of vaccination status) are required to wear masks indoors at all facilities, and employees are strongly encouraged to get vaccinated. · At this time, we strongly encourage, but will not, require guests, members, or visitors to wear masks. The above guidelines may change as the pandemic and advice from the relevant authorities evolves. We greatly appreciate how our teams have managed through the pandemic over the past 16+ months, especially focusing on safety as a top priority. I’m excited to announce that we have an accepted offer for a new Food and Beverage Director at the Members Club. We are still finalizing the details, but we anticipate him beginning in the next two weeks. I plan to share more information in the coming days about our new F&B Director. I will also be focused on transitioning our culinary staff at The Members Club and Ocean Club.Unfortunately we are having to say farewell to our Executive Chef, Michael Marques. Chef Mike had returned to the Grande Dunes Members Club last September after spending a couple of years managing all of the food outlets for Coastal Carolina University. Prior to Coastal Carolina, Mike spent six years with McConnell Golf as the Corporate Chef and Executive Chef at Grande Dunes. Recently Chef Mike received an excellent opportunity to become the Sheraton Resort’s Culinary Director. We thank both Chef Mike for his many contributions to Grande Dunes and wish them nothing but the best in his future endeavors. Ocean Club Chef, Jackie “Tanaka” McMillan will resume as our Executive Chef, in the interim, as we begin our search for a new Executive Chef. We also say farewell to Virginia Hitchcock who has been our Anchor Café Manager for the past 6 years. In addition to managing the Anchor, Virginia has worked behind the scenes with all of the F & B outlets.Virginia has decided to move to Raleigh, NC to pursue a new career and be closer to family. Current Assistant Manager, Cory Thomas, will be promoted to the Manager’s position at the Anchor Café. Please join me in thanking both Mike and Virginia for their many years of service to Grande Dunes.I look forward to working closely with our new Food and Beverage Director, as well as the rest of the team, as we transition the club into the future.
