Learn one of the world’s most popular martial arts, develop physical strength and coordination, and build self-confidence . Kids will learn various Tae Kwon Do techniques, including kicks, punches, blocks, and self-defense moves Our experienced and certified instructors will provide attention and guidance, ensuring that each student learns at their own pace and develops their skills to the best of their ability . No contracts or registration are required . Uniforms are not required until the first belt exam .

Soccer Sparks offers age-appropriate soccer classes for kids ages 2 to 10 in a low-pressure, high-skill learning environment The Soccer Sparks approach utilizes fun and games for early players to gain a passion for soccer without the stress of competition . The “all-ball” training techniques help players maximize their potential while emphasizing fair play and enjoyment of the sport .

Learn the basics of pickleball . This fun and fast-paced sport combines tennis, badminton, and table tennis and is played on a smaller court with a lightweight ball and paddles . You will learn the game’s rules, techniques, and strategies and how to serve, return, and score . Whether a beginner or an experienced player, you’ll have the opportunity to improve your skills and increase your fitness level

Raquetball Court Rental
The Recreation Center at Towne Lake has one racquetball court available for hourly rentals . The courts are $8 per hour and may be reserved up to seven days in advance by calling 972-547-2690 .

All facility participants are expected to follow the rules of the facilities Specialty areas of the facilities (example: fitness center and the pools) have posted signs stating special rules specific to that area . Disregard or abuse of facility rules may result in removal by staff or police from the facility for a designated length of time or permanently
McKinney residents make significant contributions to the operation of this agency through the payment of property taxes These contributions are above the fees that they also pay for programs and services offered by the Parks and Recreation Department In recognition of this contribution, McKinney residents qualify for the “Resident” rate for all programs . Those who live outside the boundaries of the City of McKinney qualify for the “Non-Resident” price .
You must provide proof of residency the first time you register in order to receive the “Resident” rate Once you are in our system, you will not need to prove residency again unless your address changes . The only acceptable forms of proof include a valid driver’s license or state identification card or a current electric, gas, water or trash bill that shows your address Resident rates are only available to those who live within the city limits of McKinney
• Programs are sometimes cancelled or altered due to low registration, changes in staff or facility availability .
• If a program has been cancelled or altered, we will work with you to transfer your registration to another program of your choice
• Full refunds will be issued for any program cancelled by the Parks and Recreation Department
• Participants may request refunds for classes up to three business days before the program’s first meeting or practice .
• Refunds for classes under $8 will not be issued
• Refunds for trips and contractual workshops will only be issued if the spot can be filled from the waiting list .
• A $5 administration fee will be charged against refunds for cancellations, including those due to medical problems, to cover clerical and administrative costs There are no administrative fees charged when a program is cancelled by the Parks and Recreation Department
• Fees paid by credit cards will be refunded back to the credit card
• Refund processing may take up to three weeks

By their use of the City of McKinney facilities, participants of programs and special events grant permission the City of McKinney to take photos and videos of themselves and their children for publication in the program brochure, website and additional uses as the city deems necessary, unless the registrant or participant expressly files a written request as to the use of photos or videos of themselves and/or their children All professional photography on city-owned property must be approved through the City of McKinney’s Communication and Marketing Department .
Waiting lists are automatically created when there are more registrations for a program than space Your receipt will indicate if you are registered for a program or have been placed on the waiting list .
Recreational activities/programs are intended to challenge and engage the physical, mental and emotional resources of each participant Despite careful and proper preparation, instruction, medical advice, conditioning and equipment, there is still a risk of serious injury when participating in any recreational activity/ program . Understandably, not all hazards and dangers can be foreseen . Depending on the particular activity, participants must understand that certain risks, dangers and injuries due to inclement weather, slipping, falling, poor skill level or conditioning, carelessness, horseplay, unsportsmanlike conduct, premises defects, inadequate or defective equipment, inadequate supervision, instruction or officiating and all other circumstances inherent to indoor and outdoor recreational activities/programs exist . In this regard, it must be recognized that it is impossible for the City of McKinney to guarantee absolute safety
A Youth Recreation Benefit Fund is a fee assistance program for McKinney Parks and Recreation Department classes based on a financial need This program is open only to McKinney residents who qualify for their school district’s free or reduced lunch program The Benefit Fund is limited to $100 per child per calendar year For more information, call 972-547-7480
