In addition to providing a service to inpatients and clients individually, we offer several programs and services that Aboriginal Health staff within the Murrumbidgee LHD are trained in and responsible for implementing.

MLHD AUNTY JEAN’S PROGRAM
This is a community program for Aboriginal people with/or at risk of chronic illness. The program includes health assessments, information, exercise, healthy eating and fun activities. Foot Care and Smoking Cessation are also focused on. Several health care professionals contribute to the program.

TELKUNA (HEALING) CLINIC
The Deniliquin Local Aboriginal Lands Council (DLALC) hosts a medical clinic to the Aboriginal community but is inclusive to anyone who may be more comfortable accessing health care from DLALC premises. Consultation cost covered by Medicare.

Marathon Health
Integrated Team Care Program
For Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people living with chronic disease and any associated complex health care needs. Help is provided co-ordinating health care and facilitating access to services such as transport, appointments etc. A referral form is needed from your GP or visit TELKUNA Clinic and have a chat with them about it.

ABORIGINAL FAMILY SUPPORT - CHILDREN, FAMILIES AND COMMUNITIES
Our Aboriginal Family Workers work with you to help you develop the skills to build a happier and more connected family. We use a child-centred approach to help parents/carers to enhance positive relationships with their children, increase family wellbeing and put the fun back into parenting. There is no cost to access this service.

RUMBALARA ABORIGINAL CO-OPERATIVE SUPPORTS - AGED CARE AND NDIS
Assisting Elders and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people with disabilities or special needs to maintain independence at home and in the community. We are an accredited provider of Aged Care and NDIS support.

Brother To Brother Crisis Support Line
The Brother to Brother crisis line provides phone support for Aboriginal men who need someone to talk to about relationship issues, family violence, parenting, drug and alcohol issues or who are struggling to cope for other reasons. The line is staffed by Aboriginal men, including Elders, who have a lived experience in the issues that the line offers support for.

Yarkuwa is a Traditional Owner organisation based in the town of Deniliquin in the Riverina region of NSW. It was formed in 2003 to ensure traditional owner knowledge was preserved in future generations.
