Renal And Dialysis Unit Deniliquin

Deniliquin has a nine chair Renal and Dialysis Unit operating 6 days per week. The service supports individuals with diagnosed kidney disease who have been referred by their doctor.

The service aims to maintain maximum kidney function and prevent disease progression, provide care, education and support.

Referrals through Community Care Intake Service t 1800 654 324.

CHRONIC KIDNEY DISEASE (CKD) NURSE

Benefits of early detection of CKD in the community include slowing CKD disease progression, decrease in death from kidney failure and reduction in health system cost. The CKD nurse provides education, care and support to people with kidney disease. CKD nurses monitor the progression of kidney failure in the individual and fosters pathways based on stage of kidney function.

Early referral through CCIS is welcome.

NEPHROLOGIST – DR JACK HERON

The Royal Melbourne Hospital Nephrologist (kidney specialist), Dr Jack Heron (based in Albury) visits and consults in Deniliquin every 2 months.

These appointments need a GP referral and can be made through The Royal Melbourne Hospital.
