¡La espléndida temporada veraniega ha regresado! Si bien los efectos magnéticos de Panamá operan todo el año, durante los próximos tres meses, el país desplegará su alfombra roja de manera muy especial. Es, después de todo, la temporada de verano, cuando el istmo se viste de gala para recibir a los visitantes con días soleados y ventosos, menos humedad y todas las olas requeridas para una experiencia de playa inolvidable. La estación seca en Panamá también coincide con la de las ferias regionales, que permiten a nuestros huéspedes tomar un vistazo a las tradiciones folklóricas, estilo de vida relajado y el sentido de humor de las poblaciones de nuestra geografía, desde Penonomé a Santiago y de Chitré a David. La temporada es, igualmente, la más fresca en nuestras tierras altas, que brindan muchísimas oportunidades ecoturísticas, al igual que de relajación en los pintorescos pueblos de Boquete, Volcán, Cerro Punta y El Valle.
‘Tis that splendid time of year again! Although Panama’s magnetic effects operate year-round, during the next three months, the country rolls out its red carpet in a very special manner. It is, after all, the dry season, when the Isthmus puts outs its very best to welcome visitors with bright, breezy days, lower humidity levels and all the waves required for an unforgettable beach experience. The dry season in Panama also coincides with that of the regional festivals, which
allows international guests to take a peek into the folklore traditions, relaxed way of life, and sense of humor of the towns that dot the country’s geography, from Penonomé to Santiago, and from Chitré to David. This time of year is also the coolest in our higher elevations, which are filled with eco-tourism opportunities and chances for relaxation at the cozy towns of Boquete, Volcán, Cerro Punta and El Valle. 5

A parte de actividades playeras, algunos de estos resorts ofrecen giras a las cercanas montañas de la División Continental, tales como El Valle de Antón, situado en el cráter de un extinto volcán, a solo 30 minutos de las playas, y que ofrece oportunidades para el senderismo, el montañismo, canopy, etc. Otros puntos similares de gran potencial son el área de Altos del María y Chicá, en el Parque Nacional Cerro Campana. Royal Decameron, Playa Blanca, Riu, Sheraton Bijao Beach, Coronado Golf & Beach Resort, and Buenaventura (Autograph Collection Hotels) are amongst the most important tourist facilities of the area.
La Riviera Pacífica es uno de los productos turísticos más cercanos a ciudad de Panamá, ya que se extiende entre 60 y 120 km al oeste de la capital, a lo largo de la Carretera Interamericana. Se trata de una larga franja de playas que se ha ido desarrollando con hoteles y resorts de alta calidad durante los últimos 20 años, si bien fue Coronado (1941) el primer proyecto turístico de la zona. El Pacífico es ideal para la práctica del surf, del surf de vela, el kayak y el golf, y posee una creciente oferta de plazas comerciales, residencias de lujo y comunidades para jubilados. The Pacific Riviera is one of the closest tourist destinations to Panama City, as it extends between 60 and 120 km west of the capital, along the Inter-American Highway. It is a long string of beaches that has grown with the development of highquality hotels and resorts during the last 20 years, albeit the fact that Coronado (1941) is definitely the first tourist project of the area. The Pacific coast is ideal for board and sail surfing, kayaking, and golf, and harbors a growing number of shopping centers, luxury residences and retiree communities.
In addition to beach-related activities, a number of said resorts offer tours to nearby mountain areas, such as El Valle de Antón, located in the crater of an extinct volcano only 30 minutes from the beaches, and which offers trekking, rock climbing, and canopy tour opportunities. Other similar locations include Altos del María and Chicá, in Cerro Campana National Park.

The word paradise falls short when describing the wealth of the Isthmus of Panama in terms of beaches. CARNAVALES Y FERIAS REGIONALES: ¡la fiesta es en todo el país! ¡El buen clima de la estación seca (enero-abril) es propicio para que haya fiesta! Lo primero que se nos viene en mente durante la época son nuestros famosos ‘carnavales’, que se realizan de frontera a frontera los cuatro días anteriores a la cuaresma (Feb. 21-25). El Martes de Carnaval es feriado nacional, celebrado con fervor folklórico en Capira, Las Tablas, Chitré, Penonomé (comparsas acuáticas en Las Mendozas) y Santiago. La capital no se queda atrás con su versión caribeña, con culecos (muchedumbres bailando mientras son rociadas con agua) y conciertos vespertinos en la Cinta Costera. Las provincias del interior también vibran con ferias regionales en puntos como Bugaba, Santa Fe, David, Boquete y La Villa de Los Santos, que se transforman en alegres tarimas 16

CARNAVALES & REGIONAL FESTIVALS: the fiesta is nationwide!
The fair weather of the dry season (January-April) is time for fiesta throughout Panama! The first thing that comes to mind during this time of year is our famous four-day pre-Lenten ‘Carnavales’
(Feb. 21-25), which takes over the entire country. Carnival Tuesday is a national holiday, celebrated with great folkloric fervor in Capira, Las Tablas, Chitré, Penonomé (known for the aquatic parades at Las Mendozas), and Santiago. Panama City certainly does not stay behind with its Caribbeanstyle version, with lots of culecos (jumping and dancing while being doused with water), plus lively evening concerts at the Cinta Costera. The interior provinces are also teeming with regional festivals in places like Bugaba, Santa Fe, David, Boquete and La Villa de Los Santos which transform into lively stages for concerts and folklore dance performances, agricultural

Situada en el extremo noroccidental del país, Bocas del Toro se considera como unos de los mejores destinos ecoturísticos del país. Panama´s Caribbean Surprise Located on the northwestern border of Panama, Bocas del Toro is considered one of the most eco-tourist locations in the country. Known as the ‘Galapagos of the Caribbean’, it is one of the most biodiverse places on the planet, harboring a UNESCO World Heritage Site and Panama’s first marine natural park. The province is ideal for surfing and kayaking, and for exploring picturesque
