A Message From The Board of Directors
Members,
It has been a busy quarter on the mountain. The board and staff have been hard at work striving to be the best family club in the region. Here are a few accomplishments in the past 90 days:
A successful annual meeting at the conference center, which helped members understand our financial picture and strategic mission of the club If you did not make the meeting and would like a copy, please let Norman Morrow know
The opening of the pool has been a huge success with new pool-side food service and the popular Cabana bar opening. We rolled out the Point-of-Sale system in June and it has helped with mobile and pool side ordering. There have been 3,598 people at the pool this summer since May 26th. Cramer Mountain has begun hosting swim meets for our children as well. This has been a huge success, with pool side burgers and hotdogs on Monday nights. In total, we've had 964 people attend the two swim meets this summer. Visiting clubs have been impressed with our service and pool operations, and many have asked about possible membership. You might have seen additional picnic tables and umbrellas for parties and for general use, this has increased capacity of seating by nearly 50 people at the pool Shannon Irish and the lifeguard team have done a magnificent job this season, with our new in-house pool operations
On the financial side, the club has completed its first compilation financial statement for year end, with the help of our in-house financial team and our outside CPA partner, Leigh Blair. The club officially owns the locker rooms, pro shop, cart barn and bag storage area. This transaction closed in June and had accreditive savings of nearly $5,500.00 in the first month. In review of the financials, you will see the club is ahead of last year and making a profit. A full slate of fall events and entertainment have been approved through the rest of the year. Membership has grown to well over 530 members for the first time in many years Our program to upgrade to equity and upgrade membership levels was a success as well, more than 30 members upgraded their memberships The new Junior Membership program has taken off with 10 new members this year. Golf has been taken to another level at the mountain. With the support of our new golf professional, lessons and course play have increased. There have been 4,093 rounds of golf this quarter. We had well over 2,000 rounds in the month of May. Tennis has blasted off this spring and summer with lessons and camps as well. We have also had a number of successful outings with at least 20 more scheduled through the end of the year
The Year-to-Date List of Outings is below:
Fellowship of Christian Athletes: 100
Strong Like AK: 132
ABC Supply: 84
Young Life: 72
CSI: 76
Johnson & Wales University: 84
A slate of officers have been sworn in and assigned committees for the 2023-2024 year I would be remiss, if we did not thank Jennifer Grant for her service on the board She is rolling off this month and has been a true asset to the board and the community. Thank you for your service.
The approved officers are as follows:
John Forgan: President
Brandy Mercer: Vice President, Head of the Marketing Committee, and Head of Membership & Corporate Development
Alex Bryant: Treasurer, Head of the Finance Committee, and Head of the Food & Beverage Committee.
Brad Drury: Secretary
Roy Helms: Social & Events Committee Chair
Andy Crotts: Head of the Golf Committee
Alan Hyman: Golf Committee
Thank you for allowing the board to serve you We appreciate your faith in the organization and the staff We are on our way, to being the best family club in the region
Have a great Summer and be on the lookout for more great events and entertainment coming your way!
Regards,
John Forgan President Cramer Mountain ClubA Message From Your General Manager
Summer is finally here, and it is exciting to see a spike in activity all around the club. What better place to spend a hot summer day than at the club? Golf rounds, participation in tennis and golf camps, and all the clinics for both golf and tennis for all ages and levels have increased.
The pool has become the place to be as temperatures soar into the high 80’s. We had the pleasure of hosting two swim meets this year in June and it was a lot of fun for our swim team (Crocs) and the staff What better way to show off our facility to the other swim clubs? This year’s attendance and the vibe that exists at the pool may be the single best indicator of how our club membership is thriving We are truly a family club!
The Fourth of July will be a busy day at CMC, the Patriotic Golf Cart Parade will begin at 9:30am and our Pool BBQ buffet will be available 12pm-3pm, come out and enjoy the fun. The pool grill will follow the closing of the buffet offering hamburgers and hotdogs. Our forever favorite Red, White, and Blue golf tournament will be a 9am shotgun with the golfers enjoying lunch afterwards in the Clubhouse Restaurant.
I want to take a moment to give special recognition to our entire golf staff and especially John Baker and his golf maintenance crew It has been very challenging the past few months to keep the course conditions as good as they have been considering we had more than 8 inches of rain in May and 12+ inches of rain in June.
As always, my goal is to provide a first-class member experience. Your feedback is critical to our success. If we ever fail to do this, please let me know. With the help from my team, we will address the issue promptly. While the board members are a great conduit to our members, it is helpful if you contact me directly
Thank you again for being a member and I look forward to seeing you at the club soon!

Join us between 5pm-7pm to ride around the course to fill divots, then head over to The Clubhouse Restaurant where food and drinks will be provided.
Please remember our first tee time is 8am. This allows our course maintenance team to get out in front of play without disruption.
Also, a quick etiquette reminder, please use the putting rake to keep the practice green clean. If you chip balls onto the green, use the rake to clean it. We also want to remind you that proper golf attire is required on the practice area as well as on the course. Examples of proper golf attire are below.
By: Chuck Johnson, Head Golf ProfessionalCourse Updates
We are pumping 8 pond down daily to help speed up the process of draining the pond. Rain has been our enemy when it comes to this project. We are topdressing and fertilizing tees regularly to help push tee growth. 16 blue tee is being prepped for seeding with a hybrid fescue.
12, 13, 15, and 18 greens have been sodded with grass from putting green. We are continuing to plug as necessary to obtain full coverage.
Finished second round of wall-to-wall fertilization of entire course. High amounts of rain coupled with the heat we are finally getting has caused a muchwanted surge in Bermuda grass growth. We will continue to push these grasses through the season to recover from areas of winter damage.
We have ordered and received most materials needed for aerification of greens and tees in early July
Fairway water management, fertilizer, and growth regulator spray applications will begin soon now that temperatures have increased

Tennis News
July is always a great month for tennis. The camps are rocking and rolling, we’ve got Wimbledon to watch, and plenty of opportunities for tennis and pickleball play at Cramer Mountain and around the state The juniors had a big June with the Cramer Mountain Club Junior Championships and another Tennis, Pizza, Movie night along with the camps Let’s hope they can keep the momentum going and adults, let’s get you signed up and ready for Pickledon on July 8th and our singles ladder which will culminate in the Top of the Mountain Tournament later this year!
As a reminder, please remember to book your court times online through the court reservation dashboard on the club website. That goes for the hard-court area as well for pickleballers and basketballers so we can keep track of numbers and don’t run into conflicts.
Also, members are welcome to bring a guest to play, just note it when booking the court reservation, as there is a $5 guest fee per booking, thanks for your attention to these policies!
