The summer season in Marbella kicks off with a huge bang this month and the parties are bigger, better and more outrageous than ever before. With partygoers flocking from around the globe to come to the events taking place along the coast, this summer is sure to be incredible! The summer begins this month with the opening parties at some of Marbella’s hottest beach clubs and nightclubs where the world’s partying elite don their glad rags and sip champagne until dawn. The Sisu Boutique Hotel starts their summer with the Grey Goose Rooftop Opening Party and their Angel Champagne Summer Opening Party on 3rd May from 1pm where guests can enjoy drinks and partying all day and all night long! They are also starting a breakfast club this year where guests can find Marbella’s only after-clubbing experience with food, drinks and music from 4am till 9am. They are also hosting the start of their Unique Parties and Love Juice parties on the 23rd and 24th May respectively.
Ocean Club’s White and Silver Grand Opening Party takes place on 2nd May while the Nikki Beach Grand Re-opening after their refurbishment is set for the 29th May - unfortunately, the soft opening for Nikki Beach has been pushed back a week or two due to external causes. 10
Plaza Beach also open their doors on the 3rd May to unveil their brand new look and promise a summer of truly amazing experiences. The Launch party will include Marbella’s top DJ’s, fire breathers, the Plaza dancers, live musicians and much more! Sleek Nightclub assures a night you won’t forget at their opening party on the 2nd May and will continue the summer with big events and live musicians that will leave you wanting more. LMFAO’s Redfoo is also performing at the club on the 24th May so be sure to book your tickets early if you are a fan.
Aqwa Mist Nightclub re-opens again this month with the summer launch on the 1st May followed by the start of the Unique Love Parties at Aqwa Mist on the 24th. Their weekly parties this year will take place on Mondays – Ballin
Parties, Tuesdays – Industry Parties, Saturdays – Zoo Logic, and Sundays – Kinky Malinki.
Pangea’s annual White and Gold Opening Party takes place on the 3rd May and they have many other events lined up throughout the summer at this open air venue with stunning views of the port.

LMFAO is an American electronic dance music, rapper duo consisting of uncle and nephew Redfoo and SkyBlu. The pair are the descendants of Motown Records founder Berry Gordy, Jr. and grew up in the affluent Los Angeles neighborhood Pacific Palisades, founding LMFAO in 2006 and becoming part of the electro house scene. The group started getting a local buzz through various shows that they performed and through local radio play but after recording some demos, Redfoo’s best friend Will.I.Am introduced them to Interscope head Jimmy Lovine who gave the green light for them to be signed to Interscope/will.i.am Music. LMFAO released Party Rock EP on the iTunes music store on July 1, 2008 and released their full album on July 7, 2009. The album charted at number 33 on the Billboard 200 and number two on the U.S Dance Chart. Their first single “I’m in Miami Bitch”, was released in December 2008 and peaked at number 51 on the 14
Billboard Hot 10. In early 2009, DJ/ producer ‘DJ Inphinity’ created a bootleg using the Silvio Ecomo remix of DJ Cluckie’s 2008 hit “Let the Bass Kick” and the a cappella of LMFAO, creating “Bass Kick in Miami”. The bootleg was spread across the internet and became a massive success and just weeks later the song became the theme song for the tv show Kourtney and Khloé Take Miami.
LMFAO were also featured on a storyline for MTV’s The Real World: Cancun in August 2009, which covered the group’s appearance in Cancun during 2009 Spring break. The following year the duo were featured on David Guetta’s song “Gettin’ Over You”, which reached the top ten in many countries and
peaked at number one in three, including in the UK. LMFAO then recorded their second album, Sorry for Party Rocking late in 2010 and released it in June, 2011, in the U.S. The first single taken from the album, “Party Rock Anthem”, was released in January, 2011 and showcases the Melbourne Shuffle dance style in its popular video. The song was by far their most successful, peaking at number-one in the United States, Canada, the UK, and over ten other countries.
The third single from the album, “Sexy and I Know It”, was released in October 2011 and reached #1 on the iTunes charts worldwide and #1 on the Australian and Canadian Hot 100.
In August of that year, LMFAO filmed the video for the single in Venice Beach, California and many famous faces were interested in taking roles… Pornographic actor Ron Jeremy, actors Simon Rex and Wilmer Valderrama, playwright Daniel Kanengieter (as Shufflebot) and mixed martial artist Alistair Overeem all make cameo appearances and the song achieved huge success, topping charts all over the world.

“Sexy and I Know it” became the LMFAO’s second number one in the US, Canada, Australia, and New Zealand. In October 2011, a Southern California man used the song “Party Rock Anthem” in his Halloween house light show timing the lights to the song and soon it became a YouTube sensation, even receiving news coverage. LMFAO were alerted to the video and consequently visited the house and then recorded a Kia commercial featuring the house. On September 21, 2012, the duo released a statement announcing their hiatus, stating that they were taking their careers in different directions. However, it was then revealed that their plan is for fans to see the band as individuals and then come back stronger than ever. Redfoo is currently on tour, and fans can see him perform at Sleek Nightclub in Puerto Banus on Saturday 24th May!

Pierre David Guetta is a French House producer and DJ, who spent most of the 1980’s and 90’s playing in nightclubs, until he founded Gum Productions and released his first album in Just a Little More Love in 2002. During the 90’s Guetta was well-known on the club scene in Paris and often played at the most wellknown and most popular clubs. In 1994, he became the manager of Le Palace and continued to host parties at the club until the early 2000’s.

It was in 2001 that Guetta started Gum Productions with fellow DJ Joachim Garraud who has produced singles for the likes of Kylie Minogue, Kid Vicious and David Bowie. Later that year Guetta met singer and songwriter Chris Willis, who collaborated on his first single Just a Little More Love and it was released under Virgin Records. After the release of three more singles, the DJ released a compilation in 2003, called F*** Me I’m Famous, named after his party in Ibiza.

Later that year The Black Eyed Peas released I Gotta Feeling which was produced by Guetta and it became a worldwide hit and the most downloaded song of all time in the United States. He was nominated twice for his work with The Black Eyed Peas at the 52nd Grammy Awards; in the category Record of the Year for I Gotta Feeling and Album of the Year for their album The E.N.D.
His second album Guetta Blaster also featured Chris Willis but it was his third album, Pop Life, that garnered success in the UK and Ireland as well as mainland Europe when it was released in 2007. Its lead single also reached #1 on the American Dance Chart and charted on the Billboard Hot 100.
Guetta’s international success and critical praise came with his fourth studio album, One Love, which was released in 2009 and the lead single When Love Takes Over featuring vocals from Kelly Rowland peaked at #1 in the UK Singles Chart and topped the charts in many other countries. The album also featured vocals form Akon, Estelle, Madonna, Fergie and LMFAO. It was also nominated as Best Electronic/ Dance Album at the 52nd Grammy Awards.
Guetta’s fifth studio album, Nothing But The Beat was released on 30 August 2011 and featured the first single Where Them Girls At featuring Flo Rida and Nicki Minaj, and Little Bad Girl with Taio Cruz and Ludacris, which was released as the second single. The third single, “Without You” with Usher, was released in September and David also released four promotional

singles for Nothing But the Beat which were Titanium with Sia, Lunar with Afrojack, Night of Your Life with Jennifer Hudson and The Alphabeat (song). The album also features the hit singles Sweat with Snoop Dogg and Turn Me On with Nicki Minaj. Guetta has also worked on the albums for Rihanna, Lady Gaga, Britney Spears, Avicii and is planning to release of his sixth studio album towards the end of 2014 or early 2015.

Aloe Blacc Chart Topper... Egbert Nathaniel Dawkins III was born on January 7, 1979, and is better known by his stage name, Aloe Blacc. An American singer, songwriter, rapper, and musician, he is best known for his singles “I Need a Dollar”, UK number 1 single “The Man,” and for writing and performing vocals on Avicii’s “Wake Me Up,” which charted at #1 in 22 countries.

His career began in 1995, when Blacc teamed up with hip hop producer Exile and formed Emanon – (no name backwards)—which was inspired by the title of a Dizzy Gillespie song. With break-beat loops and jazz samples, Emanon became a mainstay of the indie rap underground, and released their first mixtape in 1996, followed by the EP Acid 9 in 1999. They subsequently released three albums, Steps Through Time (2001), Imaginary Friends (2002), and The Waiting Room (2005). During this time Blacc also toured and recorded with the members of the collective Lootpack and worked with the French jazz group Jazz Liberatorz.

Blacc launched his career as a solo artist in 2003, releasing two EPs, and signing to Stone’s Throw Records in 2006, after label head Chris Mank (known as Peanut Butter Wolf) heard Blacc and immediately offered him a contract for his first full-length album Shine Through. Released in 2006, the album received significant media attention in the U.S. and abroad. In 2010, Blacc released his second album, Good Things, on Stones Throw Records which was a commercial success, and certified gold in the UK, France, Germany and Australia, among other countries. The single “I Need A Dollar”, which was used as the theme song to the HBO series How To Make It in America, reached 1 million in sales in 2013; the album was praised by the media and shortly after its release, Blacc signed with Simon Fuller’s XIX Management. In 2011, Blacc performed on the main stages of some of the world’s major festivals including Glastonbury and The Falls Festival in Australia and in the same year he contributed a track to the album Red Hot + Rio 2, with all proceeds donated to raise money and awareness to fight AIDS/ HIV and related health and social issues. 30
Last year, Blacc co-wrote the song Wake Me Up with Swedish DJ Avicii. Blacc provided the vocals to the song and it subsequently reached #1 in 103 countries and became the fastest selling single in the UK. In September of that year, Blacc signed with Interscope Records and released an EP, entitled Wake Me Up EP. Earlier this year Blacc released The Man which stormed the charts and became his first solo #1 in the UK Singles Charts and securing his status as a top recording artist. Also this year Blacc was guest advisor for Adam Levine’s team on Season 6 of NBC’s The Voice and continues to support him as the show airs and is likely to be asked back on the show next year. 31

Pharrell Williams
Musician, Producer, Designer and Entrepreneur Pharrell Williams was born April 5 1973, and is an American singer-songwriter, rapper, record producer, musician, and fashion designer. His career began in the 1990’s when he formed a four-piece R&B type group The Neptunes with childhood, school friend Chad Hugo. The four piece were signed by Teddy Riley and after working with the producer for three years, Pharrell and Hugo established themselves as a record production duo with the same name, The Neptunes, producing soul, hip hop and R&B music. In the late 1990’s and early 2000’s the pair began gaining a wide fanbase and audience and in 2001 The Neptunes produced Britney Spears’ single, I’m a Slave 4 U gaining their first worldwide number one. The pair also formed rock, funk, and hip hop band N.E.R.D with childhood friend Shay Haley with Williams taking the lead vocalist and drummer. They released his first single “Frontin’” in 2003 and they followed this with Fly or Die in 2004. Later that year Williams was featured on the Snoop Dogg single “Drop It Like It’s Hot.” The song would eventually peak at number one on the Billboard Hot 100 two months later, marking Williams’ first number one single in the United States. The song was named “Rap Song of the Decade” by Billboard in 2009. Pharrell followed this up with his debut solo album In My Mind in 2006 with the first single Can I Have It Like That featuring Gwen Stefani – the single did well in the UK reaching #3. He followed this with Angel, and Number One featuring Kayne West, but after many of the songs were leaked onto the internet before the album release, the final single was changed to That Girl featuring Snoop Dogg. As part of The Neptunes, Williams has produced numerous hit singles for various recording artists including Gloria Estefan, Frank Ocean, Paloma Faith and Ed Sheeran, while as 37

a singer and rapper he has lent vocals to Azalea Banks, Jay Z, Kayne West and the most recent infamous success with Robin Thicke on Blurred Lines. He currently owns a media venture that encompasses entertainment, music, fashion, and art called i am OTHER and is also the co-founder of the clothing brands Billionaire Boys Club and Ice Cream taking his entrepreneurial skills to new heights and he recently also was a cocomposer for the film score of The Amazing Spider-Man 2 with Hans Zimmer, Johnny Marr, Michael Einziger and David A. Stewart.

His second album, Girl was released on March 3, 2014 and featured the lead single Happy, which was also from the Despicable Me 2 Soundtrack. Pharrell was nominated for an Academy Award for Best Original Song for the single but he ultimately lost out to Let It Go from Frozen.

Ellie Goulding Singer... Songwriter... Musican... Elena Jane “Ellie” Goulding was born on 30 December 1986 and is an English singer-songwriter, multi-instrumentalist and actress from Lyonshall, Herefordshire. Her career began when she met record producer Starsmith and Frankmusik, and she was later spotted at University in Kent by Jamie Lillywhite, who later became her manager and A&R. Although she soon signed to Polydor Records in July 2009, Goulding released her first single Under The Sheets through boutique label Neon Gold Records as a deliberately low key release but later released a debut extended play, An Introduction to Ellie Goulding, later that year with Polydor. In 2010, she became the second artist to both top the BBC’s annual Sound of 2010 poll and win the Critics’ Choice Award at the Brit Awards in the same year. She also wrote songs that would feature on the albums of Gabriella Cilmi and Diana Vickers, as well as featuring her own vocals on Tinie Tempah’s Wonderwoman single. Ellie released her debut studio album, Lights, in February 2010 which debuted at number one on the UK Albums Chart and sold over 850,000 copies in the UK. It was then subsequently re-released in November of that year and included six more tracks including her cover of Elton John’s “Your Song” which reached number two in the UK in December 2010. She performed the song on 29 April 2011 at the wedding reception of Prince William and Catherine Middleton at Buckingham Palace at the couple’s request as well as her other tracks, The Writer and Starry Eyed. The album’s title track, “Lights”, was released in the US in March 2011, and peaked at number two on the Billboard Hot 100 and was certified triple platinum by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA). Also in December 2011 she performed at the White House alongside Will.I.Am and Big Time Rush for their annual National Christmas Tree Lighting ceremony. Goulding’s second album Halcyon was released in October 2012, and was preceded by the lead single Anything Could Happen. The singer worked with a number of producers on the album and collaborated with Tinie Tempah again and Calvin Harris. Halcyon debuted at number two on the UK Albums Chart, and, after 65 long weeks, it reached number one. The album also debuted at number nine on the Billboard 200 Chart, her first top ten debut in the United States. A repackaged edition of Halcyon, entitled Halcyon Days, was released on 23 August 2013, it included new singles including “Burn”, which became her first UK number-one single in the same month.

Route Route 94, or Rowan Jones as he’s known to friends, is a British music producer and DJ from Richmond in London who now produces deep house and his debut single was released in February of this year. Entitled My Love, the single has been a commercial success and charted to #1 in over three countries including the UK where it topped both the UK Singles and the UK Dance charts.

94 Route 94 formerly produced dubstep and was known as Dream – working with the likes of Skream, Benga and Katy B. Three of his songs when he was known as Dream were uploaded by UKF Dubstep, and his songs were supported by several big names including Chase & Status and Skrillex who released the Dream EP This Isn’t House on his label OWSLA. In July 2012, the musician created many social network accounts under the name Route 94 after his dubplates were played on Skream and Benga’s Radio 1 show. He explained that the moniker Route 94 came from the name of the road that runs from Chicago to Detroit, which is the birthplace of house and techno music. His Dream accounts were subsequently deleted at the time. When he produced under the moniker Dream, Jones denied rumours that he was in fact Dream and used simply a logo, not revealing his name or face. In turn this sparked interest from music blogs who made guesses as to his identity and it was subsequently revealed that Route 94 and Dream were the same person.

His debut EP under the new alias, which was titled Fly 4 Life, was released on 17 June 2013 on his eponymous record label but he later signed to Rinse, who first provided exposure for Dizzee Rascal and Wiley. Throughout 2013 he produced remixes for Katy B, Skream, Storm Queen and an unreleased remix for Example, as well as co-producing Smile from Benga’s third studio album Chapter II. In September 2013, BBC Radio 1 and BBC Radio 1Xtra started to feature his debut single My Love, featuring Jess Glynne, who was at the time, a relative unknown singer. MistaJam from BBC Radio 1 added the song to his Inbox:Fresh feature and it was also featured on Annie Mac’s 2013 mix compilation. The release date was announced to be 2 March 2014, and it was quickly added to Radio 1’s A List for frequent airplay. Glynne later had her own commercial breakthrough this year with the Clean Bandit song “Rather Be”, which topped not only the UK Singles Chart but at least 12 other charts around Europe. Recently, Jones as Route 94 produced “Everything”, a track from Katy B’s second studio album, Little Red and My Love is currently the 5th biggest selling single of 2014 so far.
