Em pleno coração do Alto Douro Vinhateiro, entre o Pinhão e Ervedosa do Douro, a quinta de Ventozelo é uma das maiores e mais antigas quintas com uma área de 400 hectares, 200 dos quais de vinha, que alcança até 600 metros de altitude. Aqui se conjugam vários capítulos ligados à produção agrícola e vinícola, mas também ao enoturismo, à gastronomia e à hotelaria Quando chegamos sentimos uma ligação indescritível com a natureza. Toda a região impressiona porque esta é simplesmente uma das mais belas paisagens que Portugal tem para oferecer Jorge Dias, director-geral do Grupo Gran Cruz - actuais proprietários da quinta desde 2014 - defende que “estamos a honrar a memória de todos quantos construíram o Ventozelo ao cuidar das vinhas e dos muros. Da produção de azeite, de mel e dos vinhos, do Porto e do Douro. Da preservação da oresta e das espécies. Do património construído e imaterial. Da memória do lugar.

CANTINA RESTAURANT & WINE BA O local onde antigamente eram ser vidas as refeições dos trabalhadores, é actualmente o restaurante e wine-bar Cantina do Ventozelo, aberto aos hóspedes e ao público em geral.

Aqui encontramos a autenticidade da cozinha regional do Douro e Trás-os-Montes pela mestria do chef Miguel Castro e Silva. E é precisamente nesta cozinha que encontramos “O Douro numa Quinta”, privilegiando os produtos cultivados e produzidos localmente (beterraba, feijãoverde, couves, ervilhas, acelga, tomate coração-de-boi, gos, marmelos, azeite…) mas também alguma caça. A aposta numa oferta “quilómetro zero” signi ca trabalhar com fornecedores de proximidade, dando preferência a produtos regionais DOP (como é o caso da Carne Maronesa), e muitas vezes numa base de troca directa de excedentes entre vizinhos – a recuperação de uma prática sustentável ancestral.

O resultado traduz-se numa selecção de pratos aconchegantes que variam ao almoço e ao jantar Os almoços, muito informais, recriam alguns dos pratos habitualmente servidos na lavoura como a costela Maronesa, feijoada ou arroz de legumes, onde não pode faltar o bacalhau e as carnes assadas e o tradicional cabrito aos domingos. De manhã, ao som do cantar dos pássaros e embalados pela brisa matinal, regressamos à esplanada da Cantina para um reforçado pequeno-almoço e uma deslumbrante vista sobre o Douro que nos proporciona um início de dia muito especial. A oferta abundante de produtos locais e regionais inclui um delicioso pão de forno a lenha, sumo de laranjas biológico, ambre de Lamego, ovos frescos e bolos caseiros.

In the morning, to the sound of birdsong and lulled by the morning breeze, we return to the Cantina terrace for a hearty breakfast and a breathtaking view over the Douro that gives us something special to start the day. Tudo aqui é autêntico e acolhedor e à noite, o céu brinda-nos com milhares de estrelas e o calor da lareira acesa é o cenário perfeito para brindar com um copo de vinho e perdemo-nos durante horas à conversa. Toda a experiência é difícil de descrever e todas as palavras usadas não farão justiça e um lugar assim. Este é o melhor ponto de partida para a descoberta da região e de todas as suas potencialidades.

TIMELESS EXPERIENC Ventozelo Hotel & Quinta provides us with a timeless wine tourism experience where we are welcomed with tradition in a genuine way. There are several walks through the places that we can discover here... the Nossa S e n h o r a d o s Pr a z e r e s c h a p e l , Interpretation Center/Museological Center, the presses and the winery, still, biological vegetable gardens, orchards and aromatic garden and even a Grocer where we can buy wines and some regional products Ever ything here is authentic and welcoming and at night, the sky o ers us thousands of stars and the warmth of the replace is the perfect setting to toast with a glass of wine and we spend hours chatting away. The whole experience is hard to describe and all the words used will not do justice to a place like this. This is the best starting point for discovering the region and all its potential.
