Got serious singing skills but aren’t old enough for American Idol? The Western Fair Junior and Youth Talent Competition may be just what you’re looking for. On
Saturday, the most talented young people in London are set to gather at the St. Francis school gym, 690 Osgoode Dr., for the preliminary competition. From there, the best singers, dancers and musicians will be off to the main competition at the Western Fair this September.
Organized by the Neighbourhood Resource Association of Westminster Park, the competition is entering its 30th year. It’s a great opportunity for young people to come out and showcase their skills, said co-organizer Lynn Crinklaw. “The majority of the competi-
tors are very high-calibre,” coorganizer Kelly Clark-Emery said. “You can tell they’ve been working hard at lessons and with a coach. They come prepared because part of marking is interaction with the audience and stage presence, so they’re very well-rounded.”
