A man is suffering from life-threatening injuries after a shooting in Halifax yesterday. Police were called to the 3300 block of Federal Avenue at 1:10 p.m. Const. Brian Palmeter said someone had seen the injured man and called the police. “We located an adult male suffering from at least one gunshot wound,” Palmeter said. The injured man was found outside a residence and he was rushed to the hospital with very serious injuries. Palmeter said there were no suspects arrested at the scene and that police were canvassing the neighbourhood looking for witnesses yesterday. Officers were combing for evi-
dence around strollers and toys on nearby Romans Avenue, home to many young families. A toddler’s birthday party was happening in the area at the time of the shooting. Officers searched near the house on Romans Avenue where bullet holes remain in the roof from a shooting last October. Four houses were hit by bullets in that incident and no one was injured. One neighbour, who didn’t want to be identified, said she is tired of recurring crime but that she can’t afford to move. She added she feels the violence in the area has escalated recently. Police have been unable to talk to the victim because of his injuries, Palmeter said. JENNIFER TAPLIN
