Fire investigators still searching for cause of propane-fed blaze Four-storey apartment building left with major damage Two adults and two children are in hospital with serious injuries caused by smoke inhalation after a fire in an east-downtown apartment building yesterday afternoon, fire officials say. When fire crews reached the 50-unit apartment building at 10514–92 Street at 1:40 p.m., two apartments were on fire, said deputy fire chief John Lamb. Two 100-pound industrial propane tanks fed the fire, resulting in 30-foot flames of burning gas. Katrina Poetker, an artist, lives on the third floor of the building. She fears all her paintings and drawings inside her apartment are lost. “I don’t have a lot of hope because it looks like I was directly below the major blaze,” Poetker said. “And the apartment above me is completely burned out.” About 60 firefighters were battling the blaze that was deemed under control at about 4 p.m. yesterday.
