Psychologist tells sentencing hearing former cop shows narcissistic tendencies A psychologist told Provincial Court Judge Gregory Rideout yesterday that Peter Hodson, the former Vancouver police officer who trafficked marijuana while on the job, was bored at work and sought excitement. Dr. Michael Elterman said Hodson, 32, displays narcissistic tendencies and a need for excitement, but stopped short of saying that they were the motivation for his crimes. The comments were made during a sentencing hearing yesterday. Hodson pleaded guilty to one count of drug trafficking and two counts of breach of trust on Nov. 30. The charges had emerged as a result of a 2010 sting operation that

had caught Hodson trading cannabis for money with a homeless crack addict that he had recruited to work for him in the drug trade in 2009. In cross-examination, Elterman admitted that it was possible that his report on Hodson could be inaccurate if he had lied during interviews in order to avoid a long prison sentence. DAVID PROCTOR
