Erica Malanchuk, 34, is one of the affected patients. She has Stage 3 cervical cancer and needs the scan to determine if her latest rounds of treatments were successful. The Calgarian was first scheduled to have a PET scan on Sept. 15 at the Tom Baker Cancer Centre. On Sept. 14, it was set over to Oct. 15. On Wednesday, she was again told the scan would have to be rescheduled. Both times she was told the AHS cyclotron in Edmonton was unable to produce the radioactive dye needed for her scan.
