HELLO I think the teaching profession is the highest profession in the world. Though one acquires very little money out of it I think it is the greatest thing. Really I do. Really think that. It isn’t just verbal rhetorical assertion. It’s the greatest thing because in our hands lie the whole future generation. All a teacher
wishes is to see his or her students’ productivity. After a tiring module, seeing your students produce a magazine with their writings is a spiritual joy which you have been looking for since you started teaching. Thus, all I can do after seeing their works is to appreciate them from my heart. Thank you very much.

THE END
Great is the art of beginning, but greater is the art of ending Henry Wadsworth Longfellow
SIMPLE RELATION OF BEGINNING AND ENDING guess it is a cliché to begin a sentence to explain a beginning but “Every perfect beginning has an end.” Yes, maybe it’s quite trite but it is also quite precise. it may sound a little bit funeral but actually it’s not that dramatic. End is a reality but also it is a fact that “the end” we have experienced while we live is a transition. It’s a transition for a new beginning and maybe It’s a transition that we might be grateful for. Just think! A day must end in order to start a new day. Namely, we are appreciative that the sun disappears to wake up to a refulgent day. So why don’t our “ends” lead to miraculous beginnings.
How do we know if there is someone whom we should meet?
Actually our only problem is to focus on the beginning and end, and to be deprived of the courage to interpret the process between them. We are generally happy to get started and unhappy when it’s over but we often forget the experience between two stages. For instance, which one of us doesn’t wonder the last page when we have just started to read a book. Even sometimes we can’t stop ourselves to glance over it. Don’t do it because the thing that make a book worth is the sentences which are created between first and last pages. Only these sentences will be able to deliver the story to a result and it will have finished when it should be Have you ever thought why most of us cannot give up our job that we finish so you will be able to start a new one. have been working for many years with abhorrence? Because as the poet said “the comfort that is caused by habit has beaten the boredom of the It’s simple; something must finish for different beginnings but it doesn’t monotony. Despite possibility of being much happier, we are not able to mean you always need new beginnings. If you are satisfied with your choice take a look at a fresh beginning, the process of making ourselves accept and and want to be stable in those circumstances, enjoy your life. I know there time to gain experience again. How can we know if there is a job waiting is a reality which is called society and always dictates something to you for us that we would love to go enthusiastically? Take another example; that you probably don’t care but despite that pressure, don’t let anyone why don’t we leave our darling which we are not sure whether we love him shape your life with their calendars. Everything in life happens according or not anymore. As the same poet continued in the same poem “while we to your timeline. So start as many times as you want, finish as many times wish to fly like a bird, we have been becoming a tree and taking root” Of as you want. course taking root isn’t a bad choice if you are really happy on that ground.

HOW DOES MUSIC EFFECT PEOPLE’S PSYCHOLOGY?
uman mind can be easily affected by many external factors. Some of them affect us thoroughly and some of them affect us badly. These factors can be anything. For example, games, other people, memories might be some factors which affect us. However, in this writing, I want to talk about music and its effects on us. Music is an indispensable part of our lives. Some of us don’t spend their days without listening to music. Even many times, we only listen to the same song again and again. Most of the time we listen to music according to our mood. When we feel bad, we usually listen to slow songs. When we feel happy, we listen to energetic and active songs. Different songs and music kinds give us different feelings. Some songs have really special places in our subconscious. Maybe they are connected with crucial events in our lives. So, why is music so influential on us? Music is universal and it usually express some topics to us like love, sadness or happiness. These are the most influential topics on people. Thus, if we feel
in love or sad, we’ll need these types of songs. But sometimes we feel like this “Oh this song absolutely represents my emotions.” The reason of this feeling is that these songs were written with real emotions because love, sadness, happiness are very real to us. Lastly, music is literally an amazing art for us. Beyond the shadow of doubt, music will always be with us. Also music has many health benefits. According to researchers, listening to classical music while studying increases concentration. Many of the patients suffering from stroke have proven that they have learned to play a musical instrument and they have regained their old skills again. Moreover, let us always remember what aristo said about music. Music is a moral law. It gives soul to the universe, wings to the mind, flight to the imagination, and charm and gaiety to life and to everything. In conclusion, we are -people- musical creatures. We need music. So listen to music. it doesn’t matter what type of music do you like. Rap, rock or slow. All of them represent your emotions. As Victor Hugo said “Music expresses that which cannot be said and on which it is impossible to be silent.”

KOBE BRYANT W
ith this writing, I would like to talk about Kobe Bryant. Why? It is very simple for me that I am in love with Basketball and it is because of Kobe Bryant. He inspired me a lot. Although he is retired, now, he is still inspiring me. I am so proud to have witnessed such an amazing player in my lifetime. Now, let’s take a look at his amazing life. Kobe Bryant became famous in 1996 as the first shooting guard in basketball history to be drafted out of high school. He helped the Lakers win three back-to-back championships and has twice been the NBA’s leading scorer. He was the season’s MVP in 2007-08. Bryant was born in 1978 in Philadelphia. He was named after the beef famous in Kobe, Japan. His father was a Philadelphia 76ers player. When Bryant was six, his family moved to Italy. He learned to play soccer and once considered becoming a professional soccer player. Back in the USA, he excelled in high school basketball and joined the NBA, aged 17. Bryant joined the Lakers in 1996. His first three seasons were spent coming off the bench but he still managed to become a favorite with fans. From 2000, Bryant was one of the top shooting guards in the league. He helped the Lakers win NBA championships in 2000, 2001, and 2002 and entered basketball’s elite. He has become a cornerstone of the Lakers team. In 2003, Bryant was accused of sexual assault in Colorado, but the charges were eventually dropped, and a civil suit was settled out of court. After the Lakers lost the 2004 NBA Finals, O’Neal was traded to the Miami Heat. Bryant became the cornerstone of the Lakers, and he led the NBA in scoring during the 2005–06 and 2006–07 seasons. In 2006, he scored a career-high 81 points against the Toronto Raptors, the second most points scored in a single
game in league history behind Wilt Chamberlain’s 100-point game in 1962. Bryant was awarded the regular season›s Most Valuable Player Award (MVP) in 2008. His coach called him ‘uncoachable’ during this period. After losing in the 2008 NBA Finals, he led the Lakers to two consecutive championships in 2009 and 2010, earning the Finals MVP Award on both occasions. He continued to be among the top players in the league through 2013, when the 34-year-old Bryant suffered a torn Achilles tendon. Although he recovered, his play was limited the following two years by season-ending injuries to his knee and shoulder, respectively. Citing his physical decline, he announced that he would retire after the 2015–16 season. Kobe is now retired and he is not playing in NBA, anymore. He has inspired with his zeal and athletics. He is surely a natural product of hard work and faith. When we overview his life, we can clearly see that he vowed to be the best at basketball. Kobe Bryant redefined what it is to be an athlete, however, he did it in a way that transcended the game of basketball. Unfortunately, this is where nearly everyone fails to comprehend in what separated Mr. Bryant from the rest of the NBA players. The “greatness” people witnessed didn’t exist in the victories or the championships, nor the impressive records he acquired over his illustrious career. On the contrary, those accolades — in it of themselves — are nothing. Yes, you read that correctly, nothing. Ask him, he’ll agree. Of course he trained endlessly and worked immeasurably hard for everything he’s earned, but his achievements on the court were indicative of something else, they were always a mere manifestation of who he really was. His everlasting energy and concentrated power of will made me grow and will go on living in me.
“However difficult life may seem, there is always something you can do and succeed at

A BRIEF STORY OF
STEPHEN HAWKING tephen William Hawking was born on 8th January 1942 (exactly 300 years after death of Galileo) in Oxford, England. His parents’ house was in North London but during the second world war, Oxford was considered as a safer place to have babies. At the age of eleven, Stephen went to St. Albans School and then on to University College, Oxford. Although his father would have preferred medicine, Stephen wanted to study mathematics. Mathematics was not available at University College, so he pursued physics, instead. three years later, he was awarded a first class honor degree in natural science. As we know, Murphy’s Law occurred in Hawking’s story. Hawking had realized that he had symptoms of motor neuron disease. There happened some problems including falling from the stairs. His speech became slightly slurred and his family noticed the changes when he returned home for Christmas, and medical investigations were begun. motor neuron disease was diagnosed when Hawking was 21, in 1963. At that time, doctors gave him just two more years. In the late 1960s, Stephen’s physical abilities were lost. He began to use crutches and could no longer give lectures regularly. As he slowly lost the ability to write, he developed visual methods, including seeing equations in terms of geometry. All those years, he did not give up. He tried to improve his carrier as a scientist and he did. His disability should encourage all of us because we always complain about what we have lived, but it’s not the point. All of his experiences should be understood.
Professor Stephen Hawking worked on the basic laws which govern the universe. For example, he showed that Einstein’s general theory of relativity implied that space and time should have a beginning in the Big Bang and end in black holes. Also, he discovered that black holes should not be completely black, but rather should radiate “Hawking” radiation. Another research was about universe’s edge and boundary. Hawking showed that the universe has no edge or boundary in imaginary time. This implies that the way the universe began was completely determined by the laws of science. Towards the end of his life, Stephen was working on a possible resolution to the black hole information paradox. Also, Hawking has written many books in popular science which are still inspiring the people. Whenever he had a chance to talk to people, he always reminded that he was brave, not only disabled. He could have spoken in many topics. One of the topics is about Artificial Intelligence that can be the end of the human race, as Hawking said. Stephen Hawking spent his life exploring some of the deepest questions a human could catch in the Einsteinian opera of space and time could ask. When we see his books or articles we have to consider that we all can do what we dream. We have to understand him to develop the future. His mind was indispensable for scientist, and will be indispensable. He couldn’t solve The Theory of Everything, but Stephen knows now if there was an equation. I Wish you were still here. We will always remember you and your unforgettable character. I think he’s smiling now because he is sitting with Einstein and Newton at the same table. Rest in peace Mr. Hawking.

MULTICULTURALISM OF
ZEYTINBURNU
Z
eytinburnu has an historically important place in İstanbul as a location. There is a pleasant coast which is thought to have a harbor in the upcoming years. Also it witnessed many sieges in Byzantine and Ottoman period. According to population census in 2017, 287.378 people live there. Most are immigrants from The Middle East, Caucasus, Central Asia, Balkans and Anatolia including me and my all family. We are Kazakh from Altai, East Turkestan. Kazakhs used to live in India and Pakistan during the period from 1940 to 1950. However, they did not feel comfortable because of lingual and cultural differences. Therefore, they all wanted to emigrate to Turkey having the same roots and history. Kazakhs came in groups to Turkey from September 1952 until April 1954. First, they came to Zeytinburnu, Tuzla and Sirkeci immigrant guesthouses. Two years later, they were settled in Manisa Salihli, Kayseri Develi, Niğde Altaiköy, Nevşehir Aksaray and Konya İsmil. Over time, livelihood difficulties in rural areas caused them to migrate again to Istanbul, especially town of Zeytinburnu, the first settlement area of them. After this incident; Kirghizs, and Turkomans also immigrated to İstanbul, Zeytinburnu regarding the Kazakh and adapted to İstanbul’s life. Despite the year of 2018, some people suppose that we are Japanese or Chinese. People just say ‘slant-eye’ to us. But they don’t know how irritating this is. They generally speak English with us. Then I answer Turkish and they really get shocked and say ‘you speak more clearly than
I speak. We have grown up in Turkish culture, we speak Turkish as native speakers. By the way, people who live in Zeytinburnu easily distinguish who is Kazakh, Uzbek, and Turkoman. Because all these people live in specific neighborhood and there are certain differences between dress styles. Zeytinburnu is also home to other people from different parts of the World and Turkey. We have been living with Anatolian Turks and Kurds who are our brothers and sisters, and we love one another very much. Persians and Syrians have also been immigrating, recently. They don’t know Turkish very well. They are distinct from us with their sights. They are more brunette and they don’t have slanting eyes. So we can understand where they come from. In 58.th Bulvar Street where is the most popular square in Zeytinburnu, you can see many people from different nations. Some people call Zeytinburnu ‘Small Central Asia’. many Arabic people are Also shopping in Olivium which is a shopping center in Zeytinburnu. In addition, our bakers are usually from black sea coast of turkey. Zeytinburnu have been taking immigrants since 1950’s. It gets more crowded every year and it has become more significant because of the coast. New residences have been built there. Transportation is easier than before with Marmaray. I love my home, Zeytinburnu and I love my neighbors from different parts of Turkey and the world. It is like a small world and we happily live there and will live there altogether.

Saffron-Scented District
SAFRANBOLU A kind of little, delicate garden plant has given its name to history. It’s such a flower that its one gram which is obtained of ground yellow buds can transfer its own color to two tons of water. In ancient ages, this small district managed to find place in Ilyada which was written by ionian historian Homeros as “Paflagonya”. As we move to northwest Anatolia which has been home to numerous civilizations, you can witness that Safranbolu has been standing right in the heart of that different atmosphere encircling people. Before, it was bound to Bolu and Kastamonu but after 1927, Safranbolu became a district of Zonguldak. When Karabük became center of iron and steel industry, Safranbolu became a county of Karabük. Development in this industry killed another sector, “making Yemeni- a kind of shoes “. During the war, 48 stores which manufactured Yemeni for Ottoman Army have not maintained their presence so far but one. Evrim and Yudum who are
a part of photography group and nature lover found a chance to talk with this last hero - Erhan Başkaya. Basing on their small interview, I want to refer his words literally. “keep my words in mind. This profession will have been extinct after me. A significant part of history will have ended with me. “ Even if Safranbolu has succumbed to the ravages of time in some aspects, it is part in UNESCO World Heritage List because of the fact that it can still protect its historical texture. However, because of ruthlessness, impassivity or selfishness of mankind, our membership of cultural capital was about to be abolished. Fortunately, UNESCO backed down from its decision. but if we insist on this wrong attitude, we should know that it is imminent to lose our membership. By the way Safranbolu which is a good location to shoot a documentary is also the city where you can taste the most delicious Turkish delight in Turkey.
