Their gradated diamond quilt design is unique to SV Coupé. Each SV Coupé will be hand-assembled to the client’s personal specification by the fastidious experts at the SVO Technical Centre in the UK – a first for Range Rover. John Edwards, Land Rover Special Operations Managing Director, said: “The introduction of the new SV Coupé brings a new level of individual expression to the Range Rover portfolio and builds on the success of Special Vehicle Operations’ existing bespoke Range Rover programme. Feedback from SV clients who have already seen the vehicle in confidential commissioning sessions has been overwhelmingly positive.” SV Coupé clients can choose from four front-to-rear contrast interior colourways, or a range of single-tone interior colours. Both are complemented by a choice of three elegant wood veneers. A first for Range Rover is Nautica, which carefully balances heritage craftsmanship with new technology, fusing walnut and sycamore. Optional paint finishes include Liquesence, which brings a sensational liquid metal finish to Range Rover for the first time.

Leading London classic car experts Hexagon Classics is proud to offer one of the rarest Aston Martin's available today - a pre-production 1959 DB4. The Aston Martin DB4 has long been revered by the marques enthusiasts as the purists’ choice, thanks to its nimble handling and tasteful appearance. The unique Blu Scozia now offered at Hexagon was the third Right Hand Drive DB4 to come from Newport Pagnell and was prepared and upgraded by Aston Martin aficionado Richard Williams, as his own car, for 37 years. Aston Martin registered this car as their London demonstration model before production continued for the model until 1963. The car boasts a retrimmed leather interior with the car converted to run on a Vantage triple Weber set-up. It was upgraded with a 5-speed gearbox and modifications have been made to the front and rear wheel arches to accommodate its larger offset wire wheels.

The Art of Luxury

Issue 32 2018

Hexagon’s Aston Martin DB4 has undergone an extensive restoration, a necessity after successfully mastering legendary hill climb events throughout its life. The recommissioning process was carried out by the best specialists and the engine was rebuilt to a 4.2 litre specification, whilst the entire interior and exterior of the car has been upgrading to a near concours condition, at a cost of £222,000. It is now arguably one of the finest DB4’s in the world. This highly desirable DB4 comes with its original registration number of WLC 433, ensuring provenance is retained and is now available for inspection at Hexagon today. Paul Michaels, chairman of Hexagon Classics, said: “This is an unmissable opportunity for someone to own a truly unique classic car. The DB4 is unmistakably iconic, made more so thanks to this particular pre-production model claiming the legendary Richard Williams amongst it previous owners. It has been lovingly restored to immaculate condition and it ready for inspection from our North London showroom now.”

A WORLDWIDE EXHIBITION DEDICATED TO SUPERYACHT LIFESTYLE Five months before the 28th edition of the most awaited superyacht event on Earth, the Monaco Yacht Show presents a new layout for the floating exhibition that will unveil an outstanding fleet of 120 superyachts. This year again, visitors coming from worldwide to Monaco to purchase or order their future superyacht will also find around forty new luxury yachts making their world debuts. A logical evolution towards a thematic exhibition per area From 26 to 29 September 2018, visitors will find an exhibition fully dedicated to the superyacht lifestyle: the majority of top superyacht builders, the leading yacht designers and brokerage houses will exhibit on the water; the luxury manufacturers and top-of-the-range service suppliers will showcase their know-how notably in the Parvis Piscine tent, while in the Darse Sud tent and on Quai Albert Ier visitors will meet most of the nautical suppliers. Quai Jarlan will be the site of part of the luxury tender exhibition in the Tenders & Toys zone, launched in 2017 and dedicated to luxury tenders, accessories and nautical leisure goods, and now extended also to Quai Antoine Ier. Star Coach is designed to ensure the role-playing is highly engaging. The app presents short videos in which a virtual guest expresses a complaint, compliment or request. After viewing the video, the hospitality service provider responds to them by speaking into the phone or tablet. The technology analyzes the fractal patterns in the voice that reveal the user’s confidence, level of emotional involvement, effort to connect to the guest and overall stress. The training tool provides instantaneous feedback and guidance on best-practice behaviors. With this immediate feedback and through repetition, the service provider is able to improve their guest interaction and ultimately provide a better guest experience. The technology behind Star Coach is based on more than a decade of research.

TOMMY MALLET MALLET FOOTWEAR From TOWIE star and fashion trendsetter, to Creative Director of one of the UK’s and Europe’s most up and coming footwear brands, Tommy Mallet is certainly the man of the hour. I had the pleasure of speaking with Tommy about ‘The Life of Mallet’, focusing on his business acumen and mindset.

Interview conducted by Josh Holmes, Business Manager Photographs Courtesy Of Tommy Mallet

The Art of Luxury

Issue 32 2018

About Tommy Mallet Tommy Mallet, 25, has graced our television screens since 2014 when he made his first appearance on the BAFTA award winning show, ‘The Only Way is Essex’ in series 13. From then he has created a lucrative brand ‘MALLET Footwear’. Born in Islington, London, Tommy had battled with dyslexia throughout his school life. In 2014 he gave an inspirational speech to a hall crowded with school children where he explained that he hasn’t let his one GCSE qualification hold him back. Before launching Mallet Footwear, Tommy had endeavoured to launch his own grooming product line, collaborated with Belvoir&Co to create a line of glasses and was also a part owner of Circuit nightclub in Romford. However, his true interest and enthusiasm was always in the shoe industry.

Issue 32 2018

The Art of Luxury

69

About MALLET Footwear Creative Director, Tommy, spotted a gap in the market for a unique style of trainer that was exceptional quality, but remained affordable to the general public. He began by putting pencil to paper and worked on his designs religiously. Tommy then reached out to his close friend Evren (now business partner), who already worked on a production line for high-end footwear and asked the simple question: “Can my idea be made into reality?" Both Tommy and Evren collaborated on the shoe design and production and then began to trial their creations. The feedback received by potential customers was astounding and this gave Tommy and Evren the push to launch MALLET Footwear in 2015. Since then, the footwear brand has become exponentially popular and the brand now retails online and in high-end stores across the United Kingdom and Europe.

“Mallet started like all great stories... with a unique, creative idea expressed simply by putting pencil to paper!”

Such was the popularity firstly in Yulia’s home city of Moscow, that Yulia saw an opportunity to expand her brand to offer a larger range of exclusive eveningwear. This would also lead to branching out with a stunning accessories collection to perfectly complement the highend eveningwear. When Yulia was just 18 she had moved from Russia to London to study International Relations. She fell in love with the city and London is now her base, as she enjoys the splendours of the great capital; the fine dining restaurants, the fashion boutiques and people’s high appreciation for fashion.

After 18 years leading the way in luxury fashion, Yulia decided it was time to try a new challenge. In her many years as a designer, she had observed there was a real lack of high quality fabric sampling and production factories. With this in mind, she explored the idea of bringing a unique fabric workshop to Notting Hill. Yulia told us that “Throughout my career I have worked hard to produce the highest quality of fabric but it quickly became apparent that not many manufacturers had working environments that conduced the high quality that I wanted for my designs. When you are creating elegant gowns with the finest and most expensive fabrics, why would you compromise the quality through a poor production environment? We have production factories across the world, so I visit them all and carefully select only the right ones and then we instil comprehensive quality assurance processes. I started thinking about how it would be wonderful to have a place in Notting Hill. Somewhere that provided a lovely clean production environment with state of the art machinery and tools, as well as some highly experienced designers and specialists in fabric production on hand to help.

“The more varied are our technical means, the greater the latitude for expression. . . . In order to create, the artist must make use of all the means that science places at his disposal: conserving or limiting oneself to the methods of times gone by is absurd. . . . Simple logic and facts therefore bring us to the use of new models, to the steadfast pursuit of modernism in art.” Edgar Brandt – Lecture to the Graduates of the Technical Professional Schools Paris, February 10, 1922.

QUENCHING THE THIRST FOR STORY TELLING The exotic sights, sounds, smells, flora, culture, and traditions of Arabia are a constant source of inspiration for Fatima Al Dhaheri, founder & designer of Ruwaya, a new fine jewellery brand launched in October 2015 that takes the natural beauty of precious stones and transforms them into glittering pieces that capture the imagination.

1.

Ruwaya is named after your great grandmother, why was she such an inspiration to you?

The meaning of Ruwaya completes my jewellery. Ruwaya is an old Arabic name with two beautiful meanings. The first, "to quench a thirst", alludes to the feeling of finding something truly beautiful encapsulated into a piece of fine jewellery, while the second, "story-telling", speaks to the rich heritage of Arabic lore and in every collection in Ruwaya there is a story to tell. 2.

Prior to creating Ruwaya you created incredible one-off peieces for your father's renowned

fine jewellery house Amwaj. What was your biggest fear when going out and starting your

own line?

It was something totally new for me specially that there are a lot of competition in the market. I remember very well what my father has told me ÂŤ A journey of a thousand miles begins with a single stepÂť so with my father encouragement I decided to create my own brand but I wanted to do something different this is when I studied at the Gemological Institute of America and I fell in love with the sapphires. Also travelling to different places gave me the chance to research what is missing in the world of jewellery.

3.

Where do you go for inspiration when working on a new line?

As an artist in fine jewellery, I get inspired by nature, the world around me and by our heritage. 4.

What is your favourite part about being a jewellery designer?

I think my favorite part about being a designer is that I am doing something that I love. My jewellery reflects me and my love to nature, I always try to make my jewellery the way that I love for that most of my pieces can be worn in different ways for different occasions. 5.

How do you want women to feel when wearing your jewellery?

The Majesty Ring and Earrings The Majesty Ring and Earrings dare to be opulent. The cloud motif is a splendid articulation of royal status, reinforced by their generous size and the medieval hint of their respective form. The Mystère Things are not always what they seem. Because sometimes, a hint of mystery is a woman’s best defence. The Mystère is a piece of constant discovery, an ode to the many hidden truths held by the heroes of historic fables. The rich pattern evokes worlds gone by, and most curiously, it conceals the precious stone: it can be seen, but it cannot be touched.

The Saga The Saga is a talisman to protect on the epic journey. For the long, winding road ahead, The Saga’s four sides represent north, south, east and west. The fish represents longevity, the flower is happiness, blue means harmony and the diamond shape is eternal love. What lies ahead may be uncertain, but the sculptural sturdiness of The Saga is steadfast, strong, splendid. Good luck and Godspeed.

The Ever After There are many facets to The Ever After. Rightfully so, as it explores one of life’s greatest complexities: love. The force that sends us into battle. Rolex GMT Master One of the most anticipated new releases of this year is the Rolex GMT Master. In the 1950s Rolex invented the GMT dual time-zone, most notably the red and blue “Pepsi” version that saw the bezel divided with two colours to represent the separate hemispheres. Rolex then began to adopt ceramic bezels and left the Pepsi colour scheme only for its white gold watch, to the detriment of all the steel lovers. This year, Rolex finally brought back the Pepsi GMT in steel that’s finished with a sturdy Jubilee bracelet.

Hublot Big Bang Unico Red Another insanely creative and outlandish timepiece from Hublot created entirely in red ceramic. The invention of a new material – the first vibrantly coloured ceramic – Hublot has once again achieved a world’s first. Designed and produced in-house, by the Hublot R&D team, this invention has been patented. A triple tour de force, the coloured ceramic is innovative in both the material itself and the manufacturing process. In addition to the vibrant colour, it is also harder than conventional ceramics.

Breitling Navitimer Super 8 Part of the new Navitimer 8 collection, suitably called the Super 8, this watch is a prototype of the new Ref 637. With a 46mm case, the crown is not out for winding, taking in to consideration that this 30s style pilots watch would have sat on an aviator’s leg requiring the crown to have a prominent position. This big, bold wristwatch is set to be one of the stars of this year’s collection.

Tudor Black Bay GMT Much like its better known sibling; Rolex, Tudor have brought a striking new GMT to the watch market for 2018. With a two-colour aluminium bezel, the Tudor Black Bay GMT has a vintage inspired aesthetic and contains an in-house movement putting this piece at the forefront of technology. The watch is expected to retail at ÂŁ2, 750 offering some serious value for a timepiece of this stature.

TAG HEUER PRESENTS THE FIRST ASTON MARTIN SPECIAL EDITION CHRONOGRAPHS The Swiss watchmaking brand symbolically chose the International Geneva Motor Show to unveil the two watches honouring Aston Martin and Aston Martin Racing. These two chronographs showcase the DNA of the British brand. The design of the prestigious TAG Heuer Carrera Heuer 01 is inspired by the geometric shapes specific to Aston Martin’s sports cars, and the technical, sporty TAG Heuer Formula 1 adopts Aston Martin Racing’s lime essence colour.

At the International Geneva Motor Show, Jean-Claude Biver, CEO of TAG Heuer and President of the LVMH Group Watches Division, and Andy Palmer, President and CEO of Aston Martin, were particularly proud to announce that TAG Heuer has been chosen as Official Partner, Official Watch Partner and Official Connected Watch Partner of Aston Martin and Aston Martin Racing. To mark the new partnership, TAG Heuer presented two magnificent special editions honouring the British luxury brand. The Swiss watchmaker drew on its extensive expertise and through a strong collaboration with the Aston Martin design team to develop the designs, drawing direct inspiration from the colours, shapes, patterns and materials characteristic of Aston Martin's sports cars. Every detail imparts a creative touch and recalls the overarching automotive spirit of the partnership. The first model is the prestigious TAG Heuer Carrera Calibre

inspiration from Aston Martin's luxury universe. The famous manufacture movement is visible through the dial, which is skeletonised in a hexagonal pattern that recalls the details on the new Vantage, for an exclusive Aston Martin dial. Meanwhile, the sturdy 45 mm solid steel case also presents a design that was specifically developed for this edition, which features lines on the side to evoke speed, the race track and piston. In another of the piece's exclusive features, the shape of the lugs has been revisited, taking inspiration from the lines of Aston Martin's emblematic bodywork. With a black ceramic tachymeter bezel, this piece is the perfect reflection of the expertise and technical mastery arising from the partnership between the two brands.

The second model is a TAG Heuer Formula 1 chronograph inspired by Aston Martin Racing. The TAG Heuer Formula 1 is TAG Heuer's ultimate motor racing model, synonymous with performance and speed. Entirely in steel and measuring 43 mm in diameter, this quartz chronograph features a notched steel bezel and an aluminium ring with a tachymeter scale. The indexes, seconds hand and Aston Martin's famous winged logo all don Aston Martin Racing's specific shade of lime essence and stand out against the watch's black dial to beautiful effect. The movement is accurate to a tenth of a second – an indispensable feature in a motor racing watch – and is displayed on the small counter at 6 o'clock, with the minute counter at 9 o'clock and the current seconds counter at 3 o'clock. The model comes with a magnificent black leather strap. Once again this is exclusively for Aston Martin as this is the first time TAG Heuer uses a leather strap in the TAG Heuer Formula 1 collection. With lime essence topstitching, it adds character and sporty style to the watch. 122

ABORIGINAL ART UK ABORIGINAL ART ETHICALLY SOURCED DIRECTLY FROM THE ARTIST AND THEIR COMMUNITY

Aboriginal Art is associated with the landscape of Australia’s outback and the culture of its indigenous people. Whilst the work reflects this landscape and its stories, there is a striking diversity in the works representations. The colours at times can be rich and exuberant, and at others muted, making it the perfect partner for any home. A proud member of the Indigenous Art Code, which ensures the ethical treatment of the artist, Nadia still returns to Australia to buy works directly from the artist, visiting the Desert Mob Art Fair as well as the individual art communities. Originally from Sydney, Nadia studied the history of art in Florence and this awakened a passion for the work of her home country and how it was being developed. She started collecting aboriginal art on one of her many visits back to Australia. Aboriginal Art UK represents art from the Central Desert, Western Australia, and the Northern Territory. Canvases range from small works, to large, dramatic pieces. Also available are poles, which are beautiful in their sculptural elegance. Aboriginal Art UK’s latest exhibition will be held at the Wet Paint gallery in Stroud, July 7th - 29th. For further details please visit:
