ACHOIMRE In ainneoin an taighde atá curtha i gcrích le blianta anuas maidir leis na dea-éifeachtaí foghlama a bhaineann le córais tumoideachais go hidirnáisiúnta, tugann taighde le fios dúinn nach n-éiríonn le daltaí ardscileanna ginchumais a bhaint amach a bheadh inchurtha le cainteoirí dúchais. Díríonn an t-alt seo ar Aiseolas Ceartaitheach (AC) mar mhodh múinte le dul i gcion ar an dúshlán seo sa chóras tumoideachais in Éirinn. Cé nach bhfuil mórán taighde déanta in Éirinn ar straitéisí AC, aithnítear go hidirnáisiúnta go bhféadfadh AC cur le sealbhú níos cruinne an dara teanga má bhaintear úsáid as ar chaoi chórasach. Déantar cur síos san alt seo ar staidéar in ocht rang a cúig, i scoileanna lán-Ghaeilge, inar bhain na múinteoirí agus na daltaí úsáid as Aiseolas Ceartaitheach d’fhonn caighdeán níos cruinne den dara teanga a shealbhú i measc na ndaltaí a thumtar.
ABSTRACT Despite the many benefits associated with immersion education, specifically for L2 learning, which international research has extensively documented and celebrated over the past number of years, such a system is not without its challenges. Although immersion students generally achieve a very high standard of L2 fluency, it often appears that they do not achieve a similar standard of grammatical accuracy when compared to native language speakers. This paper examines the systematic use of Corrective Feedback (CF) as a pedagogical strategy to enhance a more accurate L2 among immersion students. While research on CF is limited in Ireland, it appears from international literature that if used in a systematic manner it may have a positive impact on acquiring a grammatically accurate L2. This paper investigates a recent study conducted in eight Irish-medium immersion schools in which teachers and students implemented a systematic approach to CF in an attempt to enhance the grammatical accuracy of students in Irish immersion settings.
